Rainy Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Rainy Thursday

Postby Colliemom » Thu Jul 15, 2021 8:45 am

Morning from damp northern Michigan. After a beautiful day yesterday, back to rain agsin, but it will be clearing out and a beautiful weekend is in store. Looking like some hotter weather coming next week again though.

Beth, sorry you are having all the asthma issues. Maybe the drier hot Weather in the desert area is triggering off more dust particles. I was just reading yesterday about what’s called PM2.5. Micro fine particles in the air from air pollution and especially wildfire smoke. They are so fine, you don’t even notice them. And may not be captured by air cleaning machines either. But they enter our lungs well as animals and have damaging effects over time. Wish I could find the article again and post the link, but there is information on line. One thing that surprised me was, if you have an air cleaner, don’t by one that is an ozone one. It actually raises the pollution in your home. Especially if your are in an area with fire smoke.

Had a nice day up at Mackinaw yesterday. Crossed the bridge to St. Ignace for lunch, then back down to spend some time at our favorite bridge side park, before meandering hime. I think the pups enjoyed it too.

So today will be a monkey with craft projects and a grocery/gas trip.

Martha, hope you got help to unload the golf cart. Irmi, sounds like you are going to be in crab heaven for awhile  Good luck with your sale. Anita, hope the fires out your and your daughters way, Stdy away from you. Wish I could send some of this rain your way.

Time to get a move e on here. Have a nice dsy all. Stsy safe in the fire areas and rain/storm areas.

Morning All, I have been struggling to breath in this high humidity. Was very scared, thought about going to the ER. Searched the internet, lowered the ac to 74° and that solved the problem. Will have to wear a sweater but at least I can breath. Had promised to take great granddaughter to doctors so family didn’t have to take off work. I had to leave home at 7:30 to pick her up. I hate early mornings appointments. Irmi, I spread the word of your moving sale, hope it is a great success. Was given zucchini so will make shrimp scampi with zoodles for dinner. Got up early and the humidity takes a toll so going to take a nice long nap. Martha, I know it’s frustrating but do be careful pulling and hauling, strained muscles will make you say bad words. I know everyone is having a hard time dealing with this weather. Be safe

Well it is darn chilly in my house this morning LOL It is only 56 outside and last night before bed I opened lots of windows so was only 64 inside. So put on my long pants and long sleeved shirt. We will be in the 80's for the rest of the week so I am very happy.

I need to go get the oil changed in my car today. Found several that you dont have to have an appt for which works for me. Also need to check where I get a dog license and if they are open. Our state is open with only restrictions for hospitals, doctor offices and other healthcare facilities where a mask is mandatory. Of course private businesses can mandate whatever they want.

Shampooed another room yesterday so now need to vacuum and call it good. I also had to dust as the sunshine showed up my poor housekeeping skills. Not sure what the rest of the day will bring.

Good morning gals!

I am waiting for the guy to come get the portable AC this morning. He got me down to $175 but that still isn't bad and it will be one less thing in my way here. A lady is coming on Monday morning to get the tent so that will be gone soon too. Then I can look for other things to sell.

The humidity is down a bit for today and tomorrow but the temps will go down over the weekend which means the humidity will go back up.

I am still feeling tired after a full nights sleep. My eyes feel puffy and sore too. I hope I am not allergic to weed!

...he just got here for the AC unit. He showed up in a mini Cooper! But we got it to fit! Not sure he will be able to get it out again!

Shirl, I was saying bad words during the night. I seldom take anything but aspirin but had to get up and take something for my shoulder. It's still bothering me today. My son was fussing at me for loading the golf cart by myself. I get tired of waiting for help to do things. I got it delivered and they unloaded it for me. I don't hold out much hope for getting it back soon considering all the ones that are there. They are having a hard time getting parts. Hopefully it will be something simple.

The RV shop called yesterday afternoon and told me the generator needed a part and it probably wouldn't be in for 3 weeks. I was going to go get it this afternoon but they called and said they got the part overnight. I will probably be able to pick it up Monday. Now I'll have to think of some place to go.

What else is going to break. I have had the truck, RV and golf cart in the shop. Now the tractor is sitting in the pasture. Eddie said he was going to work on it. The tractor is a little beyond my capabilities.

Barbie, glad you are getting your things sold. Hope you aren't allergic.

Karen, 56 sounds good for a change. Since it rains almost everyday it hasn't been too hot here yet. It didn't rain yesterday but it's making up for it today. It stormed on me in town. I want to go to the grocery store but it looks like it is getting ready to storm again.

Really lazy day today. Slept in and ate leisurely breakfast/lunch, and am watching TV, though I have been cleaning out a pile of papers that needed to be sorted and put away. Toilet is acting funny, but not due to dump it until tomorrow. I added a bunch of water and will try to drive it around the campground a bit tomorrow before I flush it. Luckily, the dump station here has a hose connection on the water flush so I can hook it up and flush tank thoroughly, but will have to pick a time when it is not busy.

Not much else happening. Need to document time spent working on POA things for past 6 months. Also need to call state of Georgia to get my aunt's dental insurance on direct withdrawal. Had to wait for them to verify POA and send me a numerical code before they would let me do it last time. I have the approval and code now, so just need to find a dental bill.

Rain seems to hold off today, but expect more rain tonight. Really tired of everything being so soggy!!

I woke up to 60 degrees in here this morning. I forgot how well my tiny ceramic heater works! I climbed back in bed and the next thing I knew my ac was coming on lol. Jumped up turned heater off and temp up on the AC.

Three years ago today was Ty's gotcha day. I remember how much I was missing Peaches and said I was going to wait. Ha, I didn't make it long. Ty is a completely different dog and my heart opened to him immediately. I'm lucky to have found him.

Back to work today and taking it slowly. My supervisors stripped the rooms for me. Meds seem to be starting to kick in. And I'm staying inside too much because by afternoon the air quality is back to poor every day. At least mornings are somewhat better. Temps are better. 80's this week. And we seem to be getting some needed rain every afternoon.

it sprinkled today ...we would take your soggy Judy  a lot of wind thought think it chased the rain away... it was cooler today though mom didn't open the door until way late nor turn on the fan and only left it on an hour or so...
created a real mess in the laundry room today... I put towels in the washer and all the stuff on top of the washer ended up on the floor with a huge bottle mostly full of detergent cap breaking open what a pain that was used a dust pan and ice scraper to scoop up what I could and then poured some water on it mopped it up with a couple of towels.... some went under a box but it's looked two heavy to move it so didn't but the last time I was down there it looked ok but that was just after I had cleaned it up
then I went to the store to get mom's RX traffic was a mess passed a fender bender on the way which slowed things down even more... I was told yesterday when I called in the RX that it would be ready after 3 that same day... 24 hours later and still had to sit down and wait after waiting in line... Albertson's is more expensive than Smith's is and I prefer most of the stuff at Smith's over Albertson's although their produce always looks good so as it had taken so long I grabbed milk and bacon and cinnamon rolls ... I love a good donut but so far I haven't found any decent ones don't know what the pandemic but Smith's that used to be good aren't there it's some square ones and not overly good and Albertson's didn't have any but Dunford cake I was so disappointed had to get the cinnamon rolls...
so home fixed supper and no vegging out
finish this Murder She Wrote and then to bed...
you all take care

The guy that bought my AC unit, started texting me after he got home. Ended up asking me out! I nicely turned him down. He is quite a bit older than me and really not my type at all. Besides, he said he wanted to take me out to make his friend jealous.

Today I learned a new job at work. I got to actually stuff the pot into the paper tubes that I have been making the past week. It isn't as easy as you would think. I didn't get a lot of them done but it is my first day working on them. Luckily, I didn't have an allergic reaction to it. :D I did feel pretty relaxed all day tho! I can't say I have ever seen so much pot in one place! Had a huge container full of it to work with! Picking out stems brought back memories of my teenage years. ;) By the end of the day, I smelled like pot! Hope I don't get pulled over by the police! It is legal but not while you are driving. I wonder if they would believe that I just work with it and not actually consuming it!?

I did get my paycheck stub (direct deposit will hit at midnight). Just the first 6 days worth on it but it will help. I will get a full check next time just in time to pay bills. I was disappointed to find out that I don't qualify for earning commission the first 2 weeks since I am new. I told my manager that if I had known that, I wouldn't have worked so hard! So I have to wait for the next check to see how much I earn with that the second 2 weeks.

I am still waiting for the $600 CA stimulus check from spring. They don't send it out until you file your taxes so hopefully soon. I guess we are getting another $600 this fall. I think Gov. Newsom is trying to get people on his side so he wins the recall election in September. I like him so I hope he gets to stay in office.

Some counties and cities are starting to make wearing masks inside stores, restaurants, etc, mandatory again due to the increase in Covid cases now. So far, my county hasn't done that yet but pretty much every where I go, people are wearing them anyways. I went into WM the other day without mine on (it was in my pocket), I got so many dirty looks in the first 5 minutes that I put it on. I guess with the Delta variant, it is a good idea anyways. I just hate my glasses fogging up all the time. But better that, than getting sick.

Already in bed and it isn't even 10pm yet. Nothing on TV tonight. Have some books to read tho. Tomorrow I am going in to work early so I can leave early and set the cat trap and try to catch one by 7:30 pm. I have a feeling those two cats have moved to another part of the park. Haven't seen any sign of them at the house. The food is disappearing each night but the dish is being removed from the trap and I find it somewhere across the yard. That is more a sign of a raccoon than a cat, but maybe a clever cat is doing that. So, will keep my fingers crossed that I catch something feline, preferably white or orange!

This weekend, I really need to just suck it up and get my laundry done even with the heat. The laundry room is not air conditioned. But I am just about out of clothes to wear. I got rid of so many clothes last month that I run out of clean clothes a lot faster now.

I have been using the THC balm I got from the lady at work and it is really working well! Today I hardly had any noticeable pain or discomfort at all. I put it on my sore neck and shoulder muscles before going to work.

Good night!

I like him too, Barbie (even before the proposed stimulus payments), and have never understood this huge brouhaha to get him removed from office. I think a lot of it was because he (rightfully) treated (and is treating) the pandemic as a public health issue, while others see it as a political "limitations of freedoms" issue.

I will certainly vote to keep him in.

As for masking. . . I don't think the pandemic is over just quite yet. And is not likely to be anytime soon. :(

They tried to recall our governor because of the mask mandate but that didn't go anywhere. He is begging people to get vaccinated so we don't have to go into lockdown again. What is wrong with people. We don't have polio or smallpox because we were vaccinated. Our governor is in his second term so lord help us if some idiot gets elected next time.

He just vetoed a bill that would have allowed people to carry concealed weapons without training and a permit. I don't have anything against people legally having hand guns or hunting rifles. I do not want people that don't know how to use a gun walking around with one. I think they are talking about whether or not to have a special session to try to override the vetoes.

Martha, if those kind of gun laws get passed in certain states, I will never go to those states. That is just insane!

Representatives from some of the police departments in the state went to the state legislature to campaign against the no permit bill. The police have a hard enough time without more people with guns. Just hope they listen to the police.
