Morning all. Slept in this morning. Hot weather can wear one out, especially if it’s muggy. Fortunately this weather is on it’s way out. Had some storms come through around dinner time and had a really heavy rain for awhile. I think it was the heaviest rain we had this summer so far. Everything is soaked out there.

Cheryl, glad you got your trailer home safely. M-DOT does open lanes on holiday weekends but sometimes there are reasons they can’t and the volume of traffic yesterday was horrendous everywhere. Even two lane roads were backed up that normally don’t see traffic like that. All that traffic in that picture I posted yesterday is summer holiday stuff. Normally it isn’t like that. As I said, this is tourist season. People come up here to get away from the cities in southern Michigan, IL, OH, IN and also from out of state on va action.plus the UP gets a lot from WI. After Labor Day we get our roads back. I’ve had times when I can be out on 75 and not have another vehicle heading the same way I am, for 20 miles or more sometimes. Just gotta get through the season.

Judy, you probably see more RV’s out west because people are traveling, plus snowbirds coming and going. Since the pandemic, MI has boomed as far as RV’s are concerned. Dealers can’t even keep up with the demand here. There are RV’s everywhere. Campgrounds are full and it’s gotten to where, if you don’t make reservations way in advance, you are out of luck. Used to be, when I wanted to camp, I could go on the State Park reservation site and see what was available in my favorite parks and maybe grab a few days. Not anymore. Not that you can’t find a site for Maybe one night here or there. So this summer I am Staying home. Got other interests, projects and appts. I want to or have to do. Too many people everywhere. They have discovered the UP and now everybody wants to go up there too. Even the locals up there are complaining about the number of people all over, traffic, trashy people and everything else. A lot of us think that this is post pandemic stuff and maybe in another year or so, as travel elsewhere starts to pick up again, people who could work from anywhere, return to their offices, online schooling diminishes, people will start finding other things to do and also some who are new to camping may find out that it’s more expensive and more work than they thought and maybe you will start seeing RV’s on the market.

See the Tropical storm Elsa is churning into the Gulf. More rain for FL and up there East coast. I’m reading an article in the AARP Bulletin about the effects of climate change on the health, homes and safety of us older people. More and more heat waves, violent storms, fires, floods, tornadoes etc., affecting everything from where we live, to our food supplies and our very safety, not to mention rising costs or food, insurance, where we can live and where we would like to but are being forced to move elsewhere and everything else related to the changing climate. Veryinteresting. You gals in SE and up the coast, Stay safe.

I need to get moving here. Strip my bed, run up to hardware store and hopefully sand a couple spots on my deck steps, so I can put on some primer. I have them covered with plastic against the rain as don’t want the unfinished board I put on earlier to get wet. Got to be careful going up or done right now. So, best get moving here. Morning Sue and all who follow. Sue, I'd definitely talk with your neighbors. It's downright scary that those fireworks are coming down in your yard. I'm glad you've not suffered damages thus far but the chances are real.

Shirl, you gave me a good and much needed laugh yesterday about your brothers decision ultimately could be about the melted ice cream. And I can understand it lol

I can't imagine those busy roads any more. That said, if all goes with my plans I'll be going east next summer and obviously have to drive them again. I even avoid Phoenix during rush hour now and cuss how much busier the roads out west are. Cheryl, driving that must have been a pita, but AC last night might have made up for it, eh?

Ty is still under the covers so we are definitely moving slow. And my ac just came on for the first time today. Back to the 90's this week. No plans for my days off today and tomorrow except getting laundry done. But I think I best get Ty up and get a decent walk in before the temps go up higher.

Barbie, I hope you continue liking your new job and that it's something that won't aggregate any of your aches and pains AND without the stress!

Good morning. Had a fun weekend with my BFF Laura visiting. We didn't do too much but lots of visiting. She had a horrible drive down here on Friday with all the traffic. She didn't get away as early as she had planned and that contributed to the holiday drive. She was going to stay until Monday but all news reports said there would be horrendous traffic, so she left early afternoon on Sunday and said traffic was good, no problems. I wanted her to stay, of course, but I totally understood.

The ceiling fans did not go as planned. I have an older mobile and the fitting in the ceilings are smaller than the regular fittings now. We went looking at all the hardware stores, and same story.....need to cut the hole bigger. Well, Laura wasn't comfortable with that suggestion, and I concurred with her so we took all the fans back and got a refund. Then bought 3 remote control stand up, oscillating fans for the price of ONE ceiling fan. Ordered them online from Walmart AND they had them in stock. I sure didnt think that would happen after our heat wave. So ordered for pick up at store, drove in to designated pickup spots, called and BAM they were loaded in my car and home we went. Never had to get out of the car LOL Laura had 2 together before I even finished taking the plastic off the last one LOL she is pretty handy and amazing.

So yesterday I have wanted to shampoo my carpeting as it has been 8 months since I got it installed and have had many worker bees traipsing in and out, including myself and the dog. So used my rug shampooer for the first time and I love it. So much easier than my old one was. Did a great job in the living room. I have to kind of do one room at a time as I dont like to walk on it when it is damp. So today will be the guest bedroom, office, and family room. Better get off of here and get all my plans in action or they will fade LOL

Yes, beautiful day here. Amazing pictures of the traffic Sue. Glad I just stay home now. The paper said 80 strays were picked up on the 4th! Poor pups. I would like to see all fireworks banned. I have become an old curmudgeon.

Sue, the pictures of the traffic there are carbon copies of the traffic on the eastern shore of MD that Shirl & I are very familiar with and it's no fun. This is one of the main reasons we have decided it's time to do things differently to avoid the MD traffic. Barbie, I agree with Beth that I hope you love your new job and start healing your aches and pains. Karen, I'm so glad you and Laura got things done at your house. It's nice having friends like her! Lyn, it's so good seeing you here again. Please continue posting. Tina, the same goes for you so please continue enjoying your dog shows and whatever else you get into. Cheryl, so glad you and the trailer are back at your Dad's and enjoying the a/c. Also glad he wasn't more injured with the last fall.

We will get one of the large construction dumpsters to start throwing things away that we don't think will sell, especially stuff in our attic. It will be a relief to be rid of this house. Tomorrow we'll go again and take the plates off the plate shelf to be transferred to the new plate shelf in FL. The shelf in FL is much larger than the one in MD so some of my larger bells will go there, too. I need to find out how to clean some of the copper and silver bells which are tarnished. Irmi I don't envy your job! My basement is full and I may just leave it there if we sell the house as just say it's a bonus! If you have a friend that is into going to yard sales or selling ask them to look at what you think won't sell! You won't believe what people will buy. My friend has made a good living selling 'stuff' for years and some of the things she sells makes me shake my head!!

Heat, tropical storms, fires, traffic oh my! Guess our lives are not dull. Kids had to take a back road into town yesterday due to traffic on main hwy. Fire east of here is not 8,000 acres. Cheryl, glad you have a/c again.

Shirl, loved the melted ice cream story. 2 of the Sling guys still have flip phones and take quite a lot of kidding.

Irmi, I'm chuckling as you are clearing things out and I am waiting for deliveries! BJ, I agree that some people want things you can't imagine. TV came this morning along with shelves for office closet. TV is set up sort of - having Internet installed. Looking forward to shelving genealogy books and emptying more totes. About time to decide where wall hangings will go. My plan had been to go grocery shopping early, but had to make a couple of phone calls.

At son’s condo with one kid and dog. DIL had to take youngest girl home for softball game tonight and basketball camp. We went for long boat ride earlier with all three kids, minus dog. Son just took older girl for Waverunner ride. Nice to have a lot fewer boats out today. The weekend was nutty. Going out fir dinner tonight.

I can still find camping spots on weekdays but weekends are almost impossible. Glad I have lots of reservations.

Anita, Steve & I still have flip phones and our financial advisor calls them Amish phones. We have our laptops and GPS for everything else and I can't imagine using the cellphone as my computer. But it's a matter of whatever works! Lol! BJ, I wonder if someone should go through our junk before we get rid of it. JudyJB, I understand your frustration on finding campgrounds to go to, as we do the same thing. But we don't fit in state parks but have to make sure that where we go are big rig friendly. We learned the hard way that out west, their definition of that is not the same as ours and we damaged the motorhome. It's a learning curve. But all in all, most campground owners/managers do know what they are doing. And I wouldn't quit what we're doing for anything in the world.

We are getting more rain today and rain for the next week. I got the yard mowed yesterday except for the bottom of the hill. I came very close to getting the mower stuck. By the time it drys up the grass is going to be tall. It usually gets away from me at least once a year.

I had to save another king snake from the cats this morning. I hope CC doesn't ever find a poisonous snake because he is going to get bit. He had his nose right on the snake and it was playing dead.

I went to town to mail a package to my sister. She wants to sell the property we inherited and I had the abstract book. I'm not sure they can talk my niece into selling. My sister's son says we can just sell it and send the niece a check. The last time I checked he doesn't have a law degree. That's not how things work. He's an idiot. I have had 3 years dealing with lawyers. A lawyer would get more money than we would.

I know I have to get a new cell phone by next year but just don't want to go through getting a new one set up. My phone was acting up at the lake. It was taking forever to charge and wouldn't hold the charge very long. It's back to normal at home.

I need to go unload some more out of the camper so I can bring it to the shop tomorrow to get the generator worked on. I tried putting sea foam in the gas and that didn't help.

Afternoon All, ran an errand and the weather is humid and awful. I do not know how I survived to this ripe old age without the internet. If I had the internet at 30 I would have been amazing. I do not know the meaning of half the words used today so have to search the meaning. I read a review about a box sangria that sounded very nice, bought it and walked around with puckered lips. Searched “how to sweeten dry wine” simple syrup, I can do that. Martha, if you have a Best Buy store, their Geek. Squad will set up your new phone. You don’t want to be stranded on the side of the road with your Ice cream melting. Sorry this is the wanderings of a simple mind, guess I don’t need simple syrup. Be safe

Irmi, Yes I think having someone who has an idea as to what is collectable now would be a good thing. Maybe some of your friends could help you find someone. We have businesses here that will come, go through your home and set up an auction, or make you an offer and take it away.
PS I vote for phone upgrades they are so convenient and I think you would be surprised at how much you like it.

No Shirl, I don't want to be on the side of the road with my ice cream melting. I have a tip for you, don't buy $3 wine at Walmart either. I'm not sure anything would help it. I'll have to go by Best Buy and look at phones. I have a Samsung 3 and I think they are up to about a Samsung 21 now. I'm surprised my phone still works. The last time I tried to go to Best Buy they wouldn't let me in. You had to know what you wanted and they would bring it to the front. They are probably open now.

it's amazing what people will take that you might put out on the sidewalk they even do it in Q set something out by the dumpster and it's gone with in a very short time!!! as I was getting ready to leave I put my mat's out by the dumpster they had gotten so bad I didn't even put them out this year... they were gone by the time I came back from town
but do agree that maybe getting help in knowing what something is worth would be a good idea... having watched Road whatever a lot...
got a ride to the store and picked up a few items it always cost way more than I thought it would...
and usually get more than what I planned on
no rain today so I needed to water plants outside really wish that my dd would come over and do the dead heading on them...

its such a problem getting a campground any more... used to be one of the park ones never filled ever .... I think it's never not full .... what I don't get though is the cost of campgrounds you come in park and used a bit of water and a bit of electricity and maybe dump and for that you are charged a arm and a leg...

I have heard on several sites on-line that there will be a glut of RV's/campers for sale starting this fall, for the next couple years. The Covid campers are gonna get tired of the crowds and the cost of camping/gas/etc. and decide camping isn't their thing and with kids going back to school and being able to travel by air and cruising, they will turn their attention to other travel options. With the glut, will be much lower prices than what they have been this past year or so.

Yes, I still really like my job. If I work hard, I can make commission too, on top of the hourly pay. We count every piece we do and at some point we start earning commission. It will probably take a few weeks for me to get up to speed but that will help my paycheck. The gal I work with is really curious about the RV lifestyle and is asking me a ton of questions which is fun to talk to her about. She really wants to get a small RV and travel. Her husband isn't interested but I told her she could just go by herself for a few weeks at a time.

I am on call with the jury duty again. I have to check every night to see if I need to go in the next day, but so far I haven't had to. So, back to work tomorrow. They are having a birthday party at work on Friday for 4 people who have birthdays in July. Pizza and cake!! I will go in a couple hours early so I can get in on that for lunch.

Speaking of selling things, still no response to my ad for my portable AC unit. Seems strange considering how hot is has been. Someone must have an AC system that has quit on them and needs one of these to get by! I have it advertised on 3 different sites. I lowered the price quite a bit as well. Hmm...

Judy, sounds like you are having a great time this week! I miss boating and being on the lakes.

I think the raccoon was back earlier tonight. The food dish was moved across the deck and the water bowl was tipped over. They are not neat diners! Would love to see him/her tho! I refilled both bowls and called for the cats. Spooky showed up a few minutes later. I got the water bins by the houses refilled too.
