Good Morni g on this first day of the 7th month of the year. Summer is moving along too fast.

Cloudy and cool is the word here. Finally gave that sluggish low pressure the boot. It’s off to visit you gals out East. Another perfect day here yesterday.

Busy day yesterday, with quick run to Walmart in a.m., neighbor came over to replace some siding in my house that had some holes from removing a couple window flower boxes and some other streaks and paint marks on them. House looks so much better. Appt. With financial advisor, nice dog walk, grass mowing in the evening etc., pretty well finished the day. Hair cut on agenda this morning, followed by a few errands, so I can stay out of “Dodge” for the weekend hopefully can get deck ready for painting tomorrow.

Barbie, good luck with the new job. What happened to the hair cut salon you were goigg start on your own? Beth, really nice campsite tou had.Hope you are feeling better today. Also hope you gals in the PNW give hat heat wave a boot. Glad to hear it’s starting to gradually cool off. Martha, have fun camping.

Good first of July! I remembered to say rabbits before I finally went to bed last night! Hope it helps! A storm came through about 4 yesterday afternoon and it really sent the temp down! I spent most of Tuesday helping my friends transfer from one 5er to their new one so it was in and out of the heat and of course it was the hottest day so far. We were all wiped out when it was done! So yesterday, despite my plans to get yard work done just didn’t happen. So now I’ll have to wait for the rain to pass. Whenever that will be! Plenty to do inside so no big deal! Nice to open the doors this morning and have cool air instead of the heat and humidity. And with them open the rain can’t get in unlike the windows! So will take what I can get! Beth, lovely pictures. Such beautiful country. Enjoying reading everybody’s news! Stay cool and safe travels to those of you on the move and wishing everyone a good July!

Two months in a row and I actually remembered Rabbits! Granted it was at 4 am for a mid-sleep nature call. Maybe Prevagen helps!

A cool front has moved thru and the humidity is supposedly low, but with all the rain this last week in the Chitown area, it's still a bit sticky. News on the Dad front is he fell yesterday. Thought he was going to dirty the bed when he woke up and tried to get up himself and down he went. Didn't seem to break anything else but they will do xray today to make sure his pelvic fracture didn't get worse. Took a good chunk of skin out of his arm on the bed too. He always likes to stay busy doing things, so this will be tough on him.

Camper should be getting brakes today up in Grand Rapids MI. Hopefully they received the correct brake kits. Then I'll figure out when to go get it. Would like to have it at dad's. His house is old with no A/C, so I'd like to have it here for sleeping and to keep Punkin comfy when the heat and humidity returns next week. Not a fan of Chicago summers, or winter for that matter lol.

Good morning to all - just checking in,. I did remember - amazing - to say rabbits when I woke up at 4:30. In case any one is wondering. We cancelled our big RV trip to Oregon. Staying home instead. It kind of is a relief. It was a lot of miles to go to find cool weather. And who knows if it would be cool. No problems with us or the RV just a feeling like we bit off more than we wanted to chew. Maybe we'll be able to take a few short trips somewhere before we leave for Mexico in the fall. It has cooled down some what in Vegas. During June we had 23 days above 100 and 8 of them were above 110. Glad we got a new air conditioner unit 2 years ago. It was working over time, even though we keep the thermostat at 82 - cooler than that and Bill is freezing. I have little fans all over the house.
That's about all about us. I need to get back doing the YouTube exercises as it is too hot even early in the a.m to go walking. Not getting any cooler than mid 80's at night.

Checking in. Not much happening around here. I did get the RoadTrek back in the driveway after having the ceiling vent fan replaced. Now to find somewhere to take it. I will be driving to just north of Lampeer, Mi., for a wedding on Wednesday. It is for a dog show friend. Cindy can't come because she has a new litter of puppies to watch over but another friend of ours is having her husband drive her to a meet up point along my route and we will drive up together in my van. The bride to be is in her late 30's and shows Springer Spaniels. We were both showing in West Virginia about a year ago and decided to go eat at Olive Garden that Saturday evening. Olive Garden being busy and us being tired and hungry, we opted for immediate seating at the bar. As soon as we sat down we introduced ourselves to a nice gentleman eating solo. Tyson got my friends attention during the initial conversation about our being there for the dog show, etc., and Tyson's response that her that he had 16 dogs..... Most of them hunting hounds that stayed with his friends when he had to go out of town on work contracts. He came to the dog show the next day to help and watch Rikki show her Springers. Since then I have had two other mothers ask if I would accompany their daughters to a bar, as if Grey Haired Ladies are magic charms.

Excitement around here is that Lark and Audrey sent Obedience entries in for later in the month so that they could make me take them places to practice. Lark did so well yesterday at the local Rural King that I accused her of practicing without me. Today will be Audrey's turn.

And just so that I will look extra special at the wedding my trip to the dermatologist yesterday ended with usual 5-6 spots frozen off my freckled face and one biopsied spot on my nose.

Hope everyone discovers opportunities for laughter and adventures this month and time for pondering great thoughts. Remember to check in often. This isn't like other social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) where folks attract followers to their sites and postings because of their exciting lives. Here we often just quietly remind each other what "normal" looks like.

I stayed up until midnight to remember 'rabbits'. Today is a bittersweet day - as I mentioned grandson is 22 and leaving for overseas. Today marks the 18th anniversary of Steven's death. Realized today I have spent more of my life single than married now. And life goes on.

Cheryl, scary time having your dad fall again. Hope he didn't do any more damage. Sharon, I can relate to moving in hot weather! Guess now I can be thankful it wasn't any hotter when I had to do it. Barbie, I love the new car! Still more bells and whistles to figure out. Went across a mountain pass over the weekend. Looked down to shift into Low and there wasn't any! I have to switch to manual and use paddle shifter (I had heard of it, but I had no idea how it worked) - used it coming home. Told the kids I gave it a Sling test - it takes the wider curves just fine without slowing down. Beth, hope the cold is short lived! Tina, what a great meet up story!

Looking forward to many checking in today.

Ann, sorry you had to cancel your trip. Not much cooler in Oregon now anyways. Maybe head to the coast in California? It is in the 70's along most of the coast. Santa Barbara is always beautiful!

Tina, that is a great story! If I ever get out that way, we will have to get together at a bar for awhile!

Anita, (((hugs))). Those kind of anniversaries are so hard.

I got up early to do a haircut on a lady here in the park. Even at 8am, it was so freaking humid that I was dripping with sweat thru the whole haircut! Reminds me of being back in MN! Sue, I had to put the salon suite thing on hold for now with this new job. I wasn't getting any calls for haircuts now anyways. It will be better in the fall when the snowbirds return. For now, I need to pay the bills. I start that job today at 1:00.

I woke up with a very sore index finger on my left hand. Not sure what I did to it but it is hard to bend it. Always something!

Whoever mentioned about Hallmark movie reruns, I have the same problem with reruns on Gunsmoke! Every night it is another episode I have seen at least 3 times! It was on for 20 years so there are over 7000 episodes. You would think they would never have to repeat any of them for quite a long time! I just started watching it a year ago so I couldn't possibly have seen even a fraction of them yet.

I have some paperwork to fill out before I head to work. Better get at that now.

I’m checking in. Forgot “rabbits” as usual. Nothing going on except Monday I drove up into the Sierras to verify the cabin my parents built in the late 40s survived the Donnell Fire in August 2018. Thankfully it survived. I had wanted to go not long after the fire, but for quite a long time they weren’t allowing people in unless they were owners.

My parents sold the cabin in 1955 when we moved into our new home in the hills. They felt we didn’t need the cabin since we were now living in the hills with miles of open, beautiful land surrounding. While there I talked to a man and woman in another cabin that was there when we were. They told a harrowing tale of how the fire came within less than 1/4 mile before being forced up and over the area by a small mountain of granite. The same family we sold to still owns it after all these years. Apparently the father wants to sell it but his son wants to keep it. Sure wish I could buy it, but I’m afraid time has marched on too far.

Nothing else going on. Very lonely and boring here.

Happy 7th Rabbit Day of 2021! Another high 90's day in store, with a weather high pressure system parked over us. Was outside last night, talking to Sean, the handyman, as he put one last board in place for the day. As I studied the top of my remaining taller tree (took out all eucalyptus few months ago), I tried to see at least a few leaves moving, but only occasionally did they move slightly. In summer evenings here, we always hope for what we call Delta AC-breeze funneling through passes across our river deltas through the coastal mountains, bringing us cooling breezes off the ocean. Those breezes are scarce at moment, but at least late night got down to mid 60's.
Today son Chris has another PT appointment and I'll be making a few calls and puttering as I convince him to get up and move . It's part of his disabilities , from his bipolar and sleep disorder, that he's up at 07 or 08 some of time and others he could sleep 36-48 hours if not repeatedly prompted. Sean will be here off and on early in day and late as he avoids hottest time of day while finishing an indoor tile project at someone else's home. My bedroom deck will be completely renovated soon, at long last!
Tomorrow Chris gets his second Pfizer shot finally. He is so looking forward to not having to wear face shield, and now that he's close to that they are talking mask up again due to the Delta variant the news keeps hyping. I noticed yesterday, while at Costco, more people back to wearing masks again. I did not as I feel safe if not face to face close with people and being fully vaccinated myself.
With big fires going to north, I'm glad I'm not trying to go to Oregon or return from there. The big fire is on both sides of 97, which I traveled on my return home trip in 2019. It makes making camping plans challenging, when you don't know what will close when or where the smoke will be!
That's it for me for Rabbits check in. I was up still watching tv and looked at clock as episode of "Lie to Me" ended and seeing it was a few minutes after rabbit hour, I declared rabbits out loud. Good morning. I remembered Rabbits....YAY I don't know how so many of you stay up until after midnite. I am usually asleep by 10pm But I get up early as I get so much more done than if I slept in. Had to get up and get going early (instead of sipping coffee for a while) as my fence man will be here to finish the install. He got here at 8:30 and thankfully it is another cool morning. I opened my doors and windows then turned on my furnace fan to move the warm air inside around, cooled the house off just great.

Watered the plants and veggies then came in to do the inside chores. Cleaned the kitchen, cut up the rest of the small watermelon I bought. They arent great yet but should be soon. Had some breakfast and now going to make Muffin meatloaf. I love this because I bake em in a muffin tin, cool them, put them in my foodsaver bags, seal em, and freeze em. When I go to use them later I just stick them in my airfryer, put a glaze on top and voila I have dinner or those wonderful meatloaf sandwiches.

Cheryl so sorry your Dad had another fall. Dang it hopefully no more damage. So tough to watch our parents failing in the later days, such a worry.

I need to take the cardboard that is filling up the back of my car over today. I wanted to do it yesterday but the fence fellow's s truck and trailer were blocking me in so just figured I would go today. I need a couple things at the store so making my trip count.

Having salmon, squash, and the rest of the potato salad for dinner. Also cleaning out the fridge so this will help free up the fridge.

I spent a restful night in the Tiffin Ohio Turnpike service plaza RV parking area. It is set up as a mini RV park with sites marked out on the pavement and electric hookups for each one. Also a water fill station and dump station. Drove only 65 miles to get to Maumee Bay SP early and was able to check in and fill with water. So, I am now just sitting in my recliner watching TV and catching up with putting things away. Happy to have my tail and running lights still working. And I can't wait until my new custom mattress comes to my son's house in 2-3 weeks.

My son and his family are at their condo on Sandusky bay about 60 miles east of here, but there was no place for me to camp nearby this weekend, so I will just head out there for the day on Sunday and on my way to the next campground on Thursday. Got to get into the dentist at the end of next week also since I have an infected tooth. Dentist in Napa just before I left there gave me a long prescription of antibiotics, but there is a bubble on the gum next to that tooth. Not looking forward to getting it pulled or whatever they do.

Barbie, I hate to burst your bubble, but you probably have seen all the episodes multiple times. No clue how you came up with that number of episodes but,
"Gunsmoke” ran 20 years and had 635 episodes, making it the longest-running American prime-time drama TV series to date.

I'm very lucky that our really busy days were last week/weekend. Of course there's lots of extra work that could be done, but I only put in 1 1/2 hours today and that was plenty. So far this cold is acting like it's here for awhile. Fingers crossed it's not.

I only remembered rabbits because I couldn't get to sleep last night, so I watched the clock turn to midnight and hollered rabbits a few times. Lol

Karen, I don't know that I would have ever thought about using the furnace fan to cool the house!

Cheryl, ouch with your dad. I sure hope there's not worse damage.

It's been so dry here that the rain we got both days I was camping was welcome. And now it's been raining off and on today. My housekeeping cart got soaked. Oh well.

Sandi, good news on the cabin your parents built.

Now, this non nap person is going to try to take a nap. I'll take any sleep this cold allows me to get!

Hello Everybody, I’m checking in from cooler and trying to rain Connecticut. Tina, we need to get our Treks together for a play date. I loved your story about finding love at the bar... My Trek is getting some new weatherstripping around the side doors and new tie rods, tires and whatever else is under there to the tune of $1600.00. I’m putting money in my van because (like Judy) I want my rig to last a few more years. It’s only 21 years old!
Cheryl, sorry to hear about your Dad falling, but you are now there to keep an eye on him. Good luck trying to get him to listen.
I enjoy reading everybody’s posts, but can only comment on a few. I’m typing on my little I-phone screen and it’s gets tiring fast. Enjoy today,

Tina, I loved the story about meeting people at the bar, too! And I love not having to worrying about you...because all of us were. It would be nice if you & PeggyinCT could meet up. Beth, I hope things warm up for you. And for you ladies in the west, I hope things cool off for you.

Steve and I arrived in MD today and are hunkered down for almost 8 weeks until we make the reverse trip back to FL. We hope to empty the house and sell all our belongings that we don't want. Then we hope to unload the house. It will be a weight lifted off our shoulders to do something different. I forgot rabbits this morning but Steve said late was better than never. I need to fix our first meal in MD, so I will check in later.
