Boring Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Boring Tuesday

Second long day of waiting for RV to be fixed. Unfortunately awnings that were ordered two months ago have not arrived. So only thing to be done today is tail and running lights and oil change, unless a miracle happens and awning comes in. Nice parking lot hookup spots at least.

Mornin' Judy and all that follow~~~

Left the thumb to of Michigan yesterday. There was a tornado touchdown in the town of Port Austin.i had driven south with the dog until the storm passed. CG had lost power for a bit while I was gone but all the real damage was in town. Saw at least 5 houses destroyed. Lots of power trucks already in town when I left and more were heading that way. So sad.

Dropped of the camper in Grand Rapids. I have an appointment for Thursday to get the brakes done. Parts ordered and received. I'll pick it up after the 4th.

Currently at my dad's in Illinois. I'm going to be off the road for the foreseeable future. He's 91 and fell, fracturing his pelvis. No surgery, and will be heading to a rehab today or tomorrow. Don't think he can live alone anymore but I haven't had that conversation with him yet. Ma last year and now dad. At least I can visit him in the hospital.

I spent summers and a lot of weekends the rest of the year four miles west of Port Austin, just before you get to Port Crescent. Will have to find out where damage was. Going up there in early august to camp.

Cheryl, keep your strength up. Eat the cookies when you need them and let Punk help you walk them off in the cool of the mornings or evening. Your current task will not last forever and the time you spend will have moments of deep reflection, pondering of great thoughts and a certain numbness. The world of travel will still be out there, along with your friends. Take care of the business of the heart and family while you can.

It will probably be a boring day for me. I'm still waiting to hear when they will pick up the golf cart. I really miss using it because that's what I use to go fishing. Harold's old 4-wheeler is still at the barn but I don't think I remember how to start it. I wonder what they call the thing on a boat trailer that helps pull the boat. If I had something like that on the trailer I might could load the golf cart myself.

Cheryl, sorry to hear about your dad. Glad you could outrun the tornado.

Sheila, I bought an electric/battery fan at Walmart that works good and isn't heavy. Some of my camping friends have small fans that are for baby strollers. I think I'll order one the next time I make an Amazon order. They are rechargeable and you can attach them to your chair.

I'm going to turn the refrigerator in the motorhome on and start loading and unloading things. Have to load the fishing gear for a trip to the lake. I need to find the electric knife that I have been trying to get up there forever. I never remember it until we want to clean fish.

I had finally ordered some vacuum cleaner bags and the computer says they were delivered yesterday. If they were delivered it wasn't to my house. Hope they show up today.

Cheryl, so sorry to hear about your dad. That is so hard when they age and get fragile. Take care of yourself too!

I have some errands to run today and then PT later this afternoon.

I sometimes think about selling this place, buying a Class B and hitting the road for a few years. So much to see that I haven't had a chance to. I've only been to one National Park. All the trips across the country, I have been on a time constraint so didn't get to see much along the way. Would be nice to just be able to take my time and go where I want, when I want. Dreaming...

Have a good day!

Martha, I think you mean a winch.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Afternoon all. Another damp and humid day here in northern Michigan. We had a beautiful day here yesterday. Perfect summer day. Now back to the damp and humid for a couple of days and then this mess is supposed to move out of here. If it heads East like they normally do, you gals out there will have a few days of damp, humid weather not that you haven’t been having any anyway. This has been a funny system because over the weekend it was making funny looking clouds and was very stale and humid. As Cheryl mention, there was a tornado not far from the campground that she was in. First time one has ever occurred there. It was classified as an EF2 with wind about 120 miles an hour. Damaged several homes and of course trees. MI is not known as a big tornado state. Mostly EF-0-2 types when they do occur. The state has only had one EF-5 in it’s history and the last big one I can recall was an EF-4 in 1964. That one I remember because we were on our way up north when it passed over I-75 and we took shelter under an overpass due to the hail. Only after we got up here, did we learn it had been a tornado that had been on the ground, lifted up, crossed over I-75 and touched down a bit later, destroying the community it hit.

Being lazy here today, but am heading out to the garage to put the first coat of paint on my bench. Primed it yesterday. Will take time to dry, but that’s okay.

Cheryl, sorry to hear about your dad. As Tina said it so well, travels will be there as will your friends. Take care of dad and the business at hand. Things will fall into place as they are meant to. There is a time and a place for everything in our lives, and we know not where or when they will happen. But for every adversity we face, we become a stronger person and those do pass.

Velda, glad to hear things are looking up a bit more with the blood pressure and other issues you have been having. Karen, hope your heat wave breaks. Martha, as Barbie said, it is a winch you are thinking of. Beth, I get the drift you will be lookng else where for work next summer. May e back to WI or something for a change of scenery? Judy, sorry you have a boring wait down there, but at least things are getting fixed. Now, if the awning would arrive… I’m planning on GTG with you when you are at Hartwick Pines.

Guess I had best get with the paint brush. Have a nice day all and keep safe.

It was such a glorious morning here today. 64 outside. Had all my doors and windows open letting the cool air inside. Made me feel very ambitious. I feel like a soggy dishrag when it is so hot and I dont want to do anything. I like getting my work done in the morning then no guilt after lunch for plopping in front of the tv or reading. We have a week of 90's but that is normal for us the 116 was unprecedented and was the highest temp EVER recorded for this area.

I managed to go to Home Depot and get my ceiling fans that I ordered last night. Figured I better get them as stock was getting low. There was a bit of a fiasco as when I ordered them a message popped up that said could not contact my bank and my order was gone. So, I ordered them again and it went thru. So the alert on my phone this morning had TWO different charges. So, I went over and talked to the gal and she canceled the other 5 and credited my charge card. I sure didn't need 10 ceiling fans ha ha She said one of them was to be delivered to my home today. I thought I made all store pickups but this one I ordered just the one to see if it went thru and it did but I must have made it ship to home. So that is when I made the other order. They sure didn't tell me that they would try to bill it again........but now I know. I still think she gave me one more fan than I needed but we shall see if the other one gets delivered today or not and if I am charged for 2 of that kind. It will all work out, good thing Home Depot is right next door.

Cheryl so sorry to hear about your Dad. I hope he heals quickly and allows you to help out. Marda that is not very good news and I am sorry to read that today. I hope when the time comes (as it will for us all) that you find someone who will love your furbabies like you do.

Time for lunch now and then relaxation time.
Karen
