Tuesday, June 22

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday, June 22

Good Morning. Rain seems to be the topic of conversations on here of late. Some of us are getting too much and others not enough. We need rain here where I am. After that front which produced the tornado in Chicago passed through, the southern part of MI got hit hard , up here it was hit or miss and the UP got a good soaking. We had 0.02, not even enough to wet the ground hardly. That was followed by a cold front which made yesterday feel like September. 35 here this morning and frost along my neighbors garage roof edges.

Michigan is officially reopening the State today. All restrictions are dropped and it’s business as usual. Original date was July 1st but cases are so low, it was moved up. Course stsff ing issues will affect a lot of places, so people are going to have to be patient.

Martha, I had some issues with my Surge protector last year. Kept losing power to parts of my trailer. Thought maybe it was the power cord, so got a new one, nope. Bypassed the protector and plugged straight into the power box, no problem. Finally decoded it was the Surge protector. Read that They are only good for about 3-4 years and this one was about that, plus it did it’s job, alerting me to a couple issues over that time. So ordered a new one and all’s well.

Anne, thanks for the very descriptive outlook from CA. There certainly will be issues all over this year.

Need to get moving here.want to run down to CW and return a monitor I bought. Rain is predicted for later, so don’t want to spend too much time down there. That area has been getting big rainfalls lately. Flooded one of the Stste park campgrounds last week in some places. So, you all have a nice dsy.

Good morning. Nice cooler morning here than yesterday but of course we are in a heat wave also. I have lots to do this morning, getting ready to head to Medford for my eye doc appts and a vet appt for Emma for vaccinations. Will be back Friday just in time for triple digits over the weekend. UGH no rain in site here.

I need to heavily water my tomatoes, squash and plants. Have my watering timer set to water on Wed and Fri but I need to give them all a good soaking before I leave then can soak them again on Friday when I get home. Hoping for the best LOL

Didn't buy much from Amazon prime as I really didn't need much but did part with a few bucks on a couple of good small deals. Did find a couple of chairs for my low bar area but not on Amazon, got them from Walmart. Most stuff will arrive on Friday so it will be a wee bit of Christmas when I get home ha ha

Sue I need some of your weather and rain, send it quickly please LOL

Wow Sue! That is really chilly for June!

Got woken up early by the lawn mowers and weed whackers. It is cloudy today with no wind. There is a system moving thru southern CA today. They said the rain that comes from it thru the mountains will probably evaporate before it hits the ground but there could be "dry" lightning which would be bad if it starts a fire, with no rain to help put it out. Down to the low 100's this week but back up to the teens by next weekend.

Lola is out on the porch this morning but I will bring her in shortly.

I went to refill the food dishes yesterday that I left by the house with the white and the orange cat. After 2 days they were both almost still full. Looked like someone had nibbled on one of them. That isn't a good sign. :o They should both have eaten that food by then. I am really worried about them, especially if there are kittens under there too. I will put some canned tuna there today and see what happens. The other house with Spooky and the black and white kitty, they still come up on my deck yet but not as often as usual. I am sure the heat is affecting their appetites some but they still need to eat. The water seems to be being consumed at both places so that is good.

My friend Cindy's house sold and she is closing on June 30th. Then she will be moving up to San Luis Obispo (central CA) to be close to her kids and grandkids. I am losing my friends here one by one. Dave and Debbie took off for the summer up to Oregon.

I finally watched the church service yesterday on Youtube. Unfortunately, they had technical difficulties all thru the taping of it so it was pretty chopped up. But got the gist of the message which is always great with this minister.

I am going to be starting next Monday and Tuesday, renting (pay 15% commission on whatever I make) a salon suite from a stylist who works the other days there. I am hoping to get a lot of people from the park here to go over there to see me. I need to order some supplies this week from Amazon and a beauty supply place. I know it will start slow but will be great once it gets going. I can be my own boss! I also got a job starting soon, delivering new cars from a local dealership to their new owners. That will hopefully make me enough money along with the salon suite, to cover my bills until I can find a better part time job. Not much available out here right now that doesn't require working outside, lifting heavy things, or being bilingual.

Have a good day!

OK, Barbie, I missed something. What happened with the new job after Great Clips? But this sounds great. I think it'll be even better when all the snowbirds are back!

Karen, I had no intention of buying anything during Prime Days. Only have once before. But I went looking specifically for certain items and bought the ones I found. I didn't spend much, plus I had a $10 off during Amazon Prime, so I got marvelous pricing. Now, no more shopping lol.

I had a sundress on this morning but the wind was just enough I knew I'd be holding it down, so am now in shorts.

Sue, your weather is just as crazy, eh?

I'm going to head over to check out a dry camping, first come first serve CG less than 30 miles from here. I want to see if it looks like I'd be able to get a site occasionally on a day off, and if it's shaded, so what temps would work best. The boondocking area I picked out before is in the area that had the fire. I'll check it out again because maybe the area I'm interested in was spared, maybe I'll do that on Thursday, my next day off. It's not far, but in the opposite direction.

Good morning -

How do posts just go poof! Has happened with this laptop. It's about to get dirty and they unload a dump truck of dirt in front of the apartment. Progress maybe! Of course all the vehicles are now covered.

Karen, I thought of you on Prime Day because I remembered you taking advantage of it before. I only ordered some small things. I have dinette set and nightstands coming. We are headed for 100 degree weather though I will be out of town spending weekend in Port Angeles. Family bbq while niece and kids are here from Hawaii. Will spend Sunday night at BFF's on way home near Everett to do a little shopping - mainly Lamps Plus. Sue, that's chilly!

When I bought the car, Dan noticed 2 small scratches on driver's door. I doubt I would have seen them. Took 3 hours for them to do touch up yesterday! Had planned big grocery shopping and then remembered I'm going to be gone a few days. Tomorrow I'm riding over the North Cascade Hwy. Will spend the night in Winthrop in case I don't feel up to driving all the way back here. BFF is coming July 11 for a couple nights. I may never get this place put together if I don't quit going places. :)

Enjoy your day!

Sue, my surge protector is working. I think the problem I had was at the box and the electrician did something even though he said there was nothing wrong. They think we are stupid. I had one of the cheeper ones first and it only lasted about 3 years so they are a waste of money.

I don't have Amazon Prime so didn't order anything. I have a list around here somewhere of things that I want to order. I keep putting off ordering and then I don't want to make an order when I'm going to be gone or there is a holiday.

A storm came through before lunch and we got 1 1/2 inches of rain. There was a lot of thunder and lightening. It cooled off to 79 but is warming back up. I'm hearing thunder again so might get more rain.

I finally got an appointment to get my generator worked on, actually two. The shop near me gave me one for September 7. Then I called the shop in Lafayette and I can bring it July 6. I'm keeping the appointment for September, by then I will have something else wrong.

I really need to go to the feed store but probably not happening today. That would involve me putting on town clothes.

I've had two expensive progressive surge guards. I, personally, will never get another progressive model. The first shut me down all the time and turns out IT was bad. While they are supposed to have this fantastic warranty, they kept telling me it had to be on my end. Finally proved my case and they sent me a new one. It went kaput and was the last thing I suspected. After my first experience, I should have. They then told me I must be abusing them. How would that be possible? Instead of fighting, and because I don't believe they help as much as everyone else, I bought another, less expensive brand. I always, before having one, checked polarity, etc and kept a gadget plugged in inside that showed where I stood. I still trust those gadgets more. That said, I feel we all have to do what makes us comfortable.

I drove out to the CG I mentioned and it's about 30 miles, the last7 miles down a gravel and sometimes washboard road. If it was on the reservoir, I might still try it out but since only maybe 12 miles away I discovered another forest service CG with a great trail I'll be trying it. And because it's so close, I'll probably go after work in the car only to secure a site, if possible and get two nights in. Of course that means they give me a couple days during the week off together again.

Wow, I just looked at the weather forecast here and the next 3 days are now showing highs below 75! I'll take this break from the heat. And Anita, I can't figure out why I'm getting up so early. I'm not able to get to sleep early most nights though. My body and mind are playing tricks on me.

I thought I had mentioned about leaving the other salon job, guess not. I hated how strict they were about everything there. I just can't work under that kind of pressure that I could be written up if I make a slight mistake with something (or forget to get my cleaning chores signed off each day). I am not 6 years old. Probably why the other stylists were not friendly (or happy).

I just went shopping on Amazon for things I need at the new salon. Got some discounts with Prime Day. Tomorrow, I will post on my community FB page about the salon suite, looking for clients. Will also post on NextDoor. My business name is "Just Cuts". The gal I am renting from is very nice so I think it will work out good.

I checked on the kitties again and food dishes were not touched. I put tuna fish out at each house tonight so will see if that entices them at all. Spooky was meowing at me from under his house so I think he is doing OK. Just not seeing any sign of life at the other house. I feel so bad for any animals that are trying to deal with this horrid heat. Someone found a dog in a street out here that was convulsing. They rushed him to an emergency vet and sadly, he was too far gone (dehydrated, heat stroke, etc) so they had to put him down. They don't know who he belonged to. I sure hope these cats make it (and any kittens that might be there too).

Just can't imagine what the rest of the summer will be like with it this hot so early in the summer already. This past week, we have been breaking all-time records left and right and will continue to do so for the next week or so.

The gazebo out back of my house is getting a makeover. They are fixing it up and painting it. And also planting flowers all around it which will make it look nice and colorful back there. The landscaping crew here is amazing! Now, if they would just build a small pond with a waterfall or fountain back there, I would be really happy!

Good night...

Beth, send some of that cooler weather this way! We are also having higher humidity levels this week which makes it feel so much worse!

I also have been waking up very early (between 6 and 7am) which is very unusual for me.

Spent an hour in the heat waiting to get into the vets office. Ran the AC for a bit, then rolled down the windows for a bit. I did manage to park under a tree so that helped. Then the clouds rolled in, dark ones, then the thunder and lightning started. Cooled down from 101 to 93. By the time I was finished inside (they let one person come in with the animals) and got to Lois's house it was raining, thunder, lightning. My dog was so not happy. But since Lois is a soft touch spent most of the time on her lap for under her chair between her feet. Storm has passed and the skies look clear with a big moon. Vet bill was Heartguard $80 Rabies, DA2PPV 3 year and Bordatella $40 so not too bad. Worth the drive down here and the wait.

after breakfast I went to my room to make my bed and then I was going to take a shower... heard someone come in the house so went to see who it was there was one of my brother's (I'm the eldest then three brother's then two sisters and then a brother... my youngest sister and brother are both dead so there is the 5 of us) so it was the eldest of the 3 brother's that had come to visit... so said hi and went to take a shower then mom came to tell me that brother had asked her to go on a drive wanted to know if I wanted to go with so we all went on a drive took mom's car has his truck just has a can't think of the term but pretty much not a back seat that adults can get into or be comfortable ... so for some reason the car wasn't working as well as it has been much like it was the first time I drove it and was pretty much told that it was just that car and it's characteristics. Then my sil decided that he wasn't go to drive it because it was so loud thinking it was pretty much doing what it was doing today ... so we go for our drive up the Gros Ventre road ran into road construction but saw some lovely wild flowers' roses geraniums rock lilies think I even saw some paint brush and a bunch of other's that I can't remember the name of or didn't know just so many but at the same time the area looked dry and dusty they unfortunately (the flower's) won't last as long as they normally do.... but so enjoyed seeing them
we stopped and had a late lunch and came home early evening my nephew came in with his family asked for the car keys so we gave them to him and he and wife and daughter went for a drive guess my brother called one of the other brother's to tell him about the car so guess that it will be taken in for a diagnostic sometime soon they said that the amp is that it wasn't reading right even when idling was running high... so glad that brother was driving today so get tired of not being listen to because I guess I am a woman not sure if that is it or what... but irritating at that ...
now mom is going to worry about the cost of the car...
bought a cantaloupe the other day cut it up tonight it was so good...
today it's felt cooler even sprinkled with thunder a long way away
been a good day
you all have a great day
Barbie it doesn't sound like it was a welcoming place to work hopefully you can pull in clients

OMG, Martha, I am SO with you there!

I have had this kind of thing happen to me SO many times it really makes my blood boil. Several years ago I purchased a Nissan Versa from a local dealership. When I brought it in for it's first oil change (LOL - the car was new, it had about 1,500 miles on it at the time - the Owner's Manual states 3,000 - 5,000 miles between oil changes) the mechanic insisted that I needed this $250 "repair" (on my brand-new car!) on the ducting that wasn't covered by the warranty (LOL - I had purchased a bumper-to-bumper extended warranty). I declined. I was then told that if I didn't have this "repair" made, it would void my warranty.

I still declined.

Being stupid (me) I gave them another chance and went back the next time the oil needed changing. This time it was something wrong with the suspension ($250, natch - they never mentioned the first needed "repair" that I didn't have done - I guess it healed itself  ). Since they had my car up on the lift, I asked them to show me what the problem was. The mechanic pointed to the wheel assembly, and said that it was coming loose. I could see nothing. I went to the other side of the car and looked at the wheel assembly on that side, and it looked exactly like the first one. When I said "point out the problem to me again, I'm not really seeing anything" the mechanic said "well, you can't really see the problem from this angle" (looking up at the underside of my car). I declined the repair. I was told that if I didn't have the repair made, the wheel might fall off.

I still declined. I wrote a letter to Nissan, apparently Nissan sent my letter back to the dealership. They phoned me to say that since I had been "unhappy" with their service, if I would bring my car back in they would do the repair for free.

LOL. I may be stupid, but I am not THAT stupid. As if I wanted to let them get their grubby hands on my vehicle after they had lied to me - TWICE!!

LOL. I stopped having "problems" with my Versa when I stopped going to the Nissan dealership. My car continues to run just fine. I like my Versa, but I will never again buy another Nissan product, and I encourage everyone I know not to buy a Nissan product, either.

Car is fine, service is crap.

Jerks.

Best car I ever had was a Saturn. I bought it new and taking it into the dealership was a pleasure. If I made an appointment for 2 pm on a Saturday, when I brought it in five minutes before 2, the service person and my salesman would be there ready to start work on it immediately!!! And I never felt cheated. Once, at 120,000 miles I told them i probably needed new brakes. (I drove almost entirely freeway miles.) But they checked them and told me to come back in another 30,000 miles because they were fine!!!

The thing is that the car was really a basic car with few frills, so it did not sell well. Also, mine was a manual shift, and I got 44 MPG. When I started work later at Ford, my boss who was what they call a "car guy" would not believe I got that kind of mileage--you should have seen his jaw drop. I told him I only got that for the first 150,000 miles and then it dropped to only 40 MPG.

In a COE campground just south of Davenport, IA. Here for two days and then one more day, and I'll be in Fleetwood customer service place for at least a couple of days. Need new awning, new slide toppers, and new stove vent fan. Also need to get running lights and rear lights fixed, plus figure out why front overhear cab is making such a loud squeaking noise when I drive. I believe it is loose where it attaches to the Ford metal cab and today when I got a truck wash and it really leaked, so that is no doubt my problem. It is going to cost me at least a couple of thousand $$ for all this, maybe more, but I need a working vehicle to last me a few more years. And i know the factory will fix things right.

And when I am done with all of this RV stuff, I still need a new couch, so I am going to drive around Decatur and Elkhart at the furniture places. Plus, I also need to get the shocks and springs checked to find out why my ride is so bad. All this is going to be expensive, but it is either fix this one up or trade it in, and I can't afford a new rig.
