Wednesday, June 16

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday, June 16

Good Morning -

This getting up early has to stop! 4:30. Yesterday was a long day and I went to bed too early.

Martha, loved the group photo! Happy Birthday to Lyn although I seem to remember celebrating her in Kansas later in the year at a gtg. Congrats, Judy on your retirement! All the 100 degree temps I know are not fun. It's getting back to 80s and 90s here. Guess there was a lot of rain around here, but I since I can't hear it on the roof, I have no idea.

Plan to go car shopping yesterday turned into quite a day. Dan, who bought my truck, was going with me. He's been having work done on the truck and no one here could do the spray bed liner before he leaves. Someone recommended a place 2 hours north of here. He took the truck and I took the Sling - beautiful day for a ride. Came back to Wenatchee for lunch and it was getting on to 4 o'clock. Went to the Subaru dealer and I'm picking up a new Outback this morning. Inventory is small due to Covid so no haggling. We'll take it to go get the truck.

Time to get ready - have a great day

Morning Anita and All, sunny and low humidity again. Anita, I love my Subaru. I bought it on line sitting in a recliner. My children were mortified and I was scared although I never admitted it to them. I hate car shopping. Yea, Judy, a weight has been lifted. Enjoy, you have earned it. Sheila, I took care of my mom so I understand how demanding it can be. Is there a family member who can stay with your mom for a week or weekend and give you a respite now and then. I’ve researched pruning tomato plants. My chore for today before my plant engulfs the second floor. Be safe

Shirl I need to prune my tomato plants also but it is a bit confusing which ones to cut and remove. Anita we celebrated Lyn's birthday in September at a GTG so I am a wee bit confused also.

Heading out to go grocery shopping and also hit Walmart for a bunch of needed supplies. Then will come home and fertilizer the plants. Going to be low 80's today so want to do it before the major heat hits this weekend.

Karen, I searched “topping tomato plants”. Found Joe the Gardner. I probably pruned my plant too soon but did not have a choice.

Congrats, Anita. I like how easy the shopping was! And those are good cars from all I hear.

Good luck gardeners. I'm enjoying reading about your work.

I'm thinking Lyn put a possibly not correct birthday on the last FB account she had. FB told me it was her birthday the other day and since i know she no longer uses the account I ignored it when this didn't say anything. Hopefully she'll come on soon and fill us in.

FYI, I also put a fake birthdate on FaceBook--It says I was born in 1939, when I was really born in 1943. I might change it now to make myself 20 years younger.

And as far as my college teaching career is concerned, I JUST TURNED IN GRADES!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I'm not sure Facebook will let you put a false birthday anymore. My cousin just joined Facebook within the last year and he tried to put a false date and it wouldn't let him.

I just got back from my second trip to town. Yesterday my car had the message that it was time for an oil change. I called to make an appointment and they had one at 9:00 this morning. I hate to have to get up early but wanted to get it over with. I want to go mow tomorrow if it doesn't rain. The storm that is coming this weekend might bring another 10 inches of rain. I needed to bring some papers to the Dept. of Agriculture but got back to town at noon and they were closed. You can't go in their office anyway. They are conducting business in the parking lot. They told me yesterday to call them when I got there and someone would come out. I thought about all the places I could eat lunch and spend $25. I decided to eat at home and let Sugar out. Went back to town to deliver the papers and went to Walmart again. I am looking for a watering can that holds more than a few cups. I should have gone to Lowe's.

I don't know what's going on with the Honda dealers in the area. The one in Lafayette changed hands about a year ago. The one in New Iberia looks like they are being sold too. They still answer the phone with the old name but have a new name on the building.

Judy, congratulations on your retirement. Hope you can find some cooler weather.

Anita, glad you found your car.

I saw the message on FB about Lyn's birthday, and you know, FB is always right!

I have heard that Subaru's are good cars. They are also all-wheel drive so will be good in the snow.

Martha, 10 inches is a lot of rain! If we got that much at once out here, everything would be horribly flooded and would have mud slides all over the place! :o We could sure use that much over a longer period of time tho!

It was 115* today. Only 90 now at midnight! But it feels very humid out which just makes the heat feel worse.

I did haircuts on some neighbors today (gave me $70 for the two cuts! ), and they were saying they saw kittens across the street from me recently, where the white cat and orange cat live under the house. I need to keep an eye out for them to make sure they are OK in the heat. I put the container of water there and tonight I put some canned food there too. I need to find out when the next TNR will be so I can attempt again to catch the white cat. He is pretty smart tho!

I have been feeling a vibration in my left foot off and on all day today. I googled it and there is a name for that. Not sure what causes it. It doesn't hurt but just feels like my foot is near a vibrating cell phone. Just lasts for a minute and then stops for awhile before coming back. Weird! :o

Already finished eating my tuna salad. Maybe BLT's will be next on the summer menu.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I had a busy day. Went into Curves and was told, you can take off your mask! So between a new pre workout electrolyte drink and no mask and the slightly reduced RX, I felt like I was on rocket fuel. I worked out harder than in months, Then off to pet store for Mandy food, followed by taking son Chris to recycle his cans and bottles. After that we tried to get him shoes but they were out of the size he needs in the brand he needs for his bad ankle support. So off to grocery for fill in items so we can have cold meals these next 4 days of very hot weather. Just before duski headed to get mail and go in van to run generator and check some things. Not paying attention, I walked up to sliding door holding mail and pushed button to unlock, then just as I reached for door I felt like a needle prick on my abdomen. Not realizing what it was, I stepped up into van amd as I did, out of corner of my eye I saw several wasps near me! I totally forgot they try to nest in mirrors each year. I quick looked around van then jumped out, locked up and headed for house, fortunately not followed by any of the vicious little beasties. Assessed damage, consulted Dr Google, washed well to remove remaining venom amd applied ice pack for about 40 min. Have put colloidal silver on several times and just have small welt but will call bug guys in morning! Ugh
All else here ok. Hope we don't reach predicted 111° record tomorrow!
Happy retirement Judy!,
