Tuesday-National Filet Mignon Day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday-National Filet Mignon Day

Postby Acadianmom » Tue Jun 08, 2021 10:33 am

When I wrote Tuesday for the title National Filet Mignon Day popped up. That sounds good to me. The steak I had at the Cattlewomen's dinner was so good I wish I had ask where they were bought.

Reserve America cancelled all our reservations in the low part of the campground and said there was a possibility that the campground would be open Friday. I wasn't going to go that far for just 2 days. This morning I got a message from the lady that is hosting and the campground is holding all our sites and we can go Thursday. Come hell or high water, we are going camping. Hope this works out.

I have an appointment to get my hair cut at 1:00. I need to go by the office supply store and pick up envelopes to mail legal size papers. I got my 6 letters written. Just hope they accomplish what I'm trying to do and I don't need something else.

Good morning. Cloudy and had a little rain overnight. Smells so good outside. But only a chance again on Friday. We had an immeasurable amount the last couple of days but will take anything I can get.

Going to venture out today with my neighbor to check out a couple of the outlying towns just to see what they have to offer. One has Kruse farms that have produce but is closed today but will at least see where it is located. Then going to have a late lunch at the local steakhouse here in Roseburg. They have a chicken fried steak special so we are going to partake. We have eaten there before and it was real good.

Need to go get more fertilizer for my spendy tomatoes LOL I love home grown tomatoes. I grow Early Girl tomatoes. Mid sized and mature in 60 days so it says, depending on weather. I used to grow Beefsteak tomatoes, the really big ones but they really aren't as tasty as the Early Girls.

Emma is keeping me busy picking up her little tufts of hair from scratching so much. She is blowing her undercoat and is always super itchy when that happens. I just got done brushing her really well. I just have to pick up the brush and cover and she is all over me. She loves to be brushed anytime. She needs her nails clipped again so will get that done at my groomer in Medford in a couple of weeks.

I hope you have a good camping trip Martha. I miss camping but I am so busy dont have much time to really think about it except on a nice day. Sue, sounds like you have had a great camping trip week. Keep it up gal.

Well off to the shower and spiff up the house a bit. I try to have a project everyday even if it is just a small one. Then I feel like I got something done.

Good Morning!

Karen, Early Girl tomatoes is what Steven used to grow. Might try that next year. Nice to have someone to explore and eat out with. Dan, who bought my truck and has been helping me, will be leaving for the East Coast in a couple weeks. I'm going to miss having someone to visit and do things with. Martha, hope the camping trip happens. Pretty sure the lake flooding in Kansas one year was the reason the pack rats got in the truck engine compartment! I love it when anyone admits they didn't feel like doing anything - such good company I have. :)

I intended to run errands in Wenatchee yesterday, but then looked at the mess here. Good thing I didn't go because I missed a place to sign on the title so met Dan so he could get that done. Have become such a scatterbrain during all this. Would love to go buy a car but have no time for the haggling and paperwork this week. Maybe next week after wedding is done. We are going to ride the North Cascade Highway one day next week. The week after I need to shop! Occasional tables, lamps, dining set, etc.

Sheila, I wish I knew how to explain watching TV without using data. For one thing, you do not turn on Wi-Fi - that's where your data gets counted. You use apps just like your games and I assume coloring. I have Hulu, Netflix, Prime Video apps and watch a few hours a night on my tablet (or phone). None of those are free, but there are ones like Pluto. Carolb used that in Arizona 2 years ago, but those are not current shows. Frndly tv is 8.65 a month and is Hallmark plus others. Hulu is where I watch current TV and they have different plans. Networks have apps and sometimes you can watch for free.

Have a good day!

Still waiting on my cabinet bed! Called freight company this morning - maybe tomorrow!

Time for more unpacking.

Afternoon All, just back from lunch with baby brother. Nice lunch and a hug, doesn’t get better than that. Really wanted to shop a little but it is just too humid. Hardest part if the day was wearing a bra and shoes. Lol. Yesterday I watched little birds fly back and forth on the balcony. Couldn’t imagine what they were doing. Two little house finch were taking pieces of the asparagus fern sitting on the table. Don’t know if they eat it or line their nest but brought it inside. Hope they don’t like tomato plants. Happy camping, Martha. Barbie, it will get better, hang in there. I was only imaginary cooking French toast but will have to have it for dinner. My favorite dinner is breakfast. Be safe

I am getting really irritated with Microsoft--again and again! I like to keep several windows open so I can go back and forth to them. Last night, somehow the two windows I had open switched to that each occupied one-half of the screen, and it would not let me change the size or minimize either one. They were each stuck to one side of the screen and I could not open another window without it covering up one of the two stuck windows.

Well, apparently there is some function which makes it easier to use windows 10 on a notepad, which I never ever use, and this function makes the screen certain sizes. There is also a "snap" function which glues a screen to the edge of your screen. I have no idea why anyone would want to do that!!! Anyway, it just took me a full hour to figure out what was happening and turn off those functions so I could resize screens!! Grrrrr. I have no idea how I accidentally set them wrong, but maybe I hit a wrong key or two.

Also, I an at Heaton Bay Campground near Frisco, CO, about 30 miles north of Breckenridge. I knew this are was high because it is ski country and I have been here two or three times before, but I did not realize I am at 9,200' !!!! Thought it would be fun to check my oxygen level with the pulse thing. Result was 90, so I need to take more deep breaths!! I will be heading downhill to Denver on Friday, so can get some oxygen there!!

Martha, please be careful. It's scary that RA cancelled the reservations but the cg is willing to still honor. Just keep your eyes open and be safe.

The fire near me (13/14 miles) is still 0 contained and has gone over 700 acres involved. They seem to mainly be keeping structures safe while the forest burns. I guess i have to trust they know what they're doing.

Judy my phone splits screens. I know it's because I somehow accidentally tell it too but drives me crazy. And then I have to figure, again, how to get out of it. So i understand your dislike when that happens.

Anita, I'm only paying $5.99/mo for Frndly ... Just signed up after fighting with myself. So the 2 I pay for are that and Peacock which I upgraded to a paid version. I also have Tubi and a bunch of free channels through Roku. If I can't find something to watch, it's my own fault lol

They are trying to make computers operate like phones or iPads and trying to make phones and iPads work like computers by making the same software for all. Except one size never fits all. I had a choice of a window filling the screen (maximized) or if I had more than one window open, it made each one take up half the window and then "snapped" the window to the edge of the screen so only two windows would fit on a screen. It would not let me change the size or shape of anything, nor could I move a window away from the edge of the screen. When grading papers, I keep the Excel grade book I use, the classroom screen where I enter scores into a table, and the actual student paper I am grading all open, plus sometimes I keep an internet explorer screen open to access papers.

What phone do you have? The function that caused my screen to make my windows stick to the edge and not be moveable was called "snap." There is also a "Tablet mode" setting that makes my computer act like a tablet.

Like if I wanted my computer to act like a tablet, I would have bought a tablet!! And a phone makes a horrible computer, especially if you need reading glasses for small print!!

I was so foggy this morning! I went out to put food and water in the bowls for the stray kitties and filled the water bowl first. Then I poured a big scoop of dry food right on top of the water bowl! :o :o So I scraped off the dry (now wet) food out of the water and put it in a paper bowl, then filled the dry food bowl with food before refilling the water bowl! Looks like someone was nibbling on the wet kibble today so not a total loss.

Martha, I love filet mignon!! My favorite piece of steak! Altho I had tri-tip once and that was pretty darn good! Be careful camping especially if you get more rain there.

Karen, I use a red comb on Lola and she comes running when she sees that comb! So funny! I have tried different brushes on her but the comb seems to work better than anything else. It is just a small hair comb like I use at work.

I ended up buying frozen french toast! Lazy? Yes!

I finally tried again to pay my property taxes on line and it worked this time. Yay! One less thing to worry about. Now to get my income taxes done. I need the money!

I need to get my oil changed in my Jeep and see if they can figure out how to fix my windshield wipers that turn on by themselves and the door locks that won't unlock. Need my new wiper blades put on too. I can never figure that out myself. The blades on there now are falling apart from going back and forth over a dry windshield, not to mention the heat drying them out. Jeep needs a bath too. There is a brand new Quick Quack car wash near me that sent me coupons for a free wash, so I will take advantage of that.

I have been researching minivans to see if there is one that I could turn into a short-trip camping van. Found a Dodge Grand Caravan that has three rows of seats and the back two rows fold down into the floor. (so I wouldn't have to remove them). I could use that space with the seats put down to put a small folding twin bed and camping stuff (and portapotty) in there, but still have the seats available to use when I just want a regular car. The prices are comparable to my Jeep for age and miles. Just thinking about it for now but am glad I finally found a van that will work until I can retire and get a real camper van. I could use this for spending a couple days at the beach or mountains, etc. I think I could even fit my kayak in there, if I am able to even use that anymore.(I am not ready to give up on that possibility).

No wind tonight but also didn't feel as hot out today.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Anita you explained it quite well... I could even understand most of it... you know me and teck stuff...
I didn't realize that the apps didn't use internet... see I am so not understanding tech the other question is how do you get it to the tv instead of just on the laptop?
had leftover's tonight just as we were sitting down to eat there was a knock at the door called to tell whomever to come in which they did after watching one of the mystery shows on Hallmark that isn't a wise thing to do   anyway a good friend came in so we invited her to join us was nice having a good visit as she is moving in a few weeks now we have less leftovers... my dd called while we were visiting on the house phone asking if we don't answer our phones I said was just trying to see which phone was closer.. she said no I've text you and called you and called grandma's phone... well mine was in the bedroom charging and grandma's was in the living room and we are at the dining room table... she had tried calling me 4 times... anyway she was asking if I wanted to meet her in Wilson and she would bring me the soil she forgot the other day ... so meet her there and got to half bags of soil... should help fill the containers now I need to go get plants to plant...
Jackson has such a short growing season that plants such as tomatoes need to be in a green house or in a wall of water... those work in being able to start them sooner... my sil planted some and in walls of water but I think he didn't get them in as soon as he should have.... we can get frost in Sept and have been known to freeze even earlier.. those beefsteak are the ones Larry liked as well as the early girls...
really didn't do a lot today other than run some errands mom had picked up fat free milk she hates fat free milk think she went by the color of the lid so I took that to the senior center then stopped by Verizon to get somewhat educated with mom's flip phone think I've forgotten all that they told me  my sister got it for her why I don't know the smart phones are so much easier to use... even if she never used the "smart" part of it she could at least find voice mail easier...
and then to the store to get more milk sure expensive milk cost me 60 dollars :o :o oh wait that was probably all the other stuff that I bought that I thought of when I got there... funny how much the extra's can run a person. and almost forgot that  and then dropped off the water bill
it is shower day I wonder if mom will attempt to do it herself as the door is closed and she usually leaves it open guess I will have to listen more closely
well think that is enough of my rambling you all have a good night awww no shower

Judy, it's simply called a split screen on my phone. Since I don't use anything but my phone anymore it basically is my computer. But definitely, imo, not a big enough screen to split!

Sheila, I bought the Roku to give me more show options, but it also is what takes all the apps onto the TV. I use the phone as my hot spot. And using the hot spot does count towards my data. I have no clue what Anita might be doing so it doesn't. But so far it's never throttled me on one of my phones.

Barbara, look up Stacey and Bills Adventures channel. I have followed their Bonzai Keto channel for a couple of years and just recently they started the Adventure channel to show how they fixed up their Dodge Grand Caravan for camping, yet easily converted back for every day use. I think you might find their ideas useful.
