First Friday in June

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

First Friday in June

Good almost afternoon all. I just got back from dropping Rascal off at the groomer so he can get his summer cut. Sounds like just in time for the heat and humidity to move in by next week. He’ll be much more comfortable without all that fur. He saw the chirping again the other night and she says she sees a slight improvements in his moving so hopefully we can at least keep him more comfortable. Didn’t realize he’s 12 1/2 and knocking on the door of 13 in a few months! He has his moments of puppyhood so it’s hard to remember his actual age. Heck, I’m lucky to remember mine sometimes! Barbie, glad you were able to get a new job and out of the environment you were in. Beth, sounds like you have lots of new adventures awaiting you. Finally got Lola de-winterized the other day and at least vacuumed the floor. Now I need to start loading in for my upcoming trip. I still have several days and despite my intentions of not waiting until the last minute I’m sure I’ll be finishing the day I leave! Meanwhile I hope I can get out and mow soon. We had enough rain again this morning to wet everything down again. Maybe it’ll dry out by this afternoon! Shelia, sounds like you have your hands full. And those with your gardens amaze me! Planting season is just starting here. I think we can assume we won’t have anymore winter! But with this crazy weather who knows what could happen! But I’d rather mow grass then shovel snow! So that’s about it for my excitement for today, I really should get a move on and accomplish something! Hope you all have a great day and stay safe.

Well it’s past morning…there’s a glass of iced tea if you’re interested. I did remember to say Rabbits on the 1st, hope that it works. I been fighting tendonitis in my right foot for over a month and I want it over! The foot is taped and I have a compression sock and a brace and only one pair of shoes that I can get on….and those shoes look like I stole them from a bag lady. The good news is that it isn’t nearly as painful as it was. Been doing lots of RICE. Have another appointment on Wednesday.

We’ve been having crazy weather. Last week it was in the 40 and 50’s and this week we’re in the high 90’s. Thank goodness Sean and I got the pool set up on Monday and the tape they used on my foot is water resistant. We could definitely use some of your rain Martha!

Barbie I am so glad you have a new position. Nothing is worse that poor working conditions. That is precisely the reason that I decided to leave teaching and do something else. The administration didn’t back the teachers and the students were out of control. People thought I had lost my mind when I went to work at a prison and I thoroughly enjoyed my job. I would have stayed there longer but there was a deputy warden who was making everyone’s life miserable and I decided since I was 65 and eligible for SS and full state retirement benefits, I would retire rather than take her crap. Lo and behold she was fired three months after I left.

Well I’m in the process of making 4 dozen kolaches for the Pink Ladies bake sale tomorrow. I’m not a member, but always donate because they raise money to help members of the community who have cancer. They always have their sale this week-end since it is the city wide rummage sales. Our neighbors started theirs today, so there has been lots of traffic on our street for a change. I haven’t gone over to check it out since I need to get rid of my own crap and refuse to have a sale. I either donate to a bargain shop in a neighboring town or post it as a give away on our city Facebook page.

Have to finish my baking. Have a good day.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Love when you come on and catch up Pat. And good afternoon to you and Sharon and whoever may follow.

Worked today and about to walk Ty. Same old same old lol. I was expecting better tips here. They stink. The owners are happy that they're getting good reviews. Bad manners, good reviews. Bah humbug lol I'm a firm believer in tipping... Hairdressers, waiters/waitresses, housekeepers. And I never blame these people for bad owners or managers. If they are doing their jobs, they deserve a tip. They might not be able to find better management/owners and need a job. Don't get me wrong... Good managers and owners here, but bad customers lolol. I learned in all my years in the business to appreciate corporate guests and blue collar workers. Tourists, not so much.

Ok, off my band wagon. Time to walk Ty.

A busy morning here on the "farm". I watered and fertilized my tomatoes and squash and flowers. I have tomatoes on my plants and lots of blooms. First time I have ever had them this early. I planted early tho, around the 3rd week of April and I usually dont plant until after Mothers day. I have lots of blooms on my squash and some little tiny zucchini's. Little today tomorrow could be huge LOL Then I packaged and food savered 14lbs of hamburger I bought yesterday. I was getting low and I use hamburger the most for chili, spaghetti, rice casseroles, tacos, etc I didnt buy any other type of meat. They say meat prices are going to skyrocket so guess now I am prepared, for a while.

Good to see Pat posting too. I always enjoy her posts. Sorry Pat for the foot problem. I can relate altho mine is that pesky plantar fasciitis. I am not real religious about doing my exercises but have started again this week. Sharon getting ready to hit the road. I am a wee bit jealous. I am not sorry I sold my Motorhome but I sure do miss camping. Was nice to see Lyn check in and all is well. Beth, housekeepers are the most undertipped people. Most people just come for a night or two and never coming back soon so I guess they just dont care.
I rarely had housekeeping when I was in the hotel for 6 months except to switch out towels and I changed my own sheets, or borrowed their vacuum ha ha BUT I still tipped the gals, they were great.

Making a seafood salad for dinner. Not as hot today but a nice cool salad sounds really good.

Last nigh I got another 2 1/2 inches of rain. It hasn't rained here today but there is a lot just to the West. Between Abbeville and Maurice the fields are lakes. Pat I would sure like to send you some rain. I think there is a good chance the state park will cancel our reservations next week because part of that campground floods. I hope they make that decision before I get on the road.

I brought Sugar for her sleepover. My son says she is doing good but I bet she would like to be at home. I am still undecided about leaving her when I go camping. That would be for 4 nights.

I went to Walmart and surprise they had 5 checkers working. I'm trying to get ready for next week but I'm sure it will involve another trip to Walmart. I wanted to get a new reel or fishing rod but try to get someone to help you. They have the reels locked up and the fishing rods are on top of the shelves. If I don't forget I'll go to Academy tomorrow.

Annie is back to bringing her toys and dropping them by my chair. She is such a silly girl.

it has been a disorganized day
when I first got up mom was still sleeping so when and read scriptures... then I heard her up but wanted to finish what I was reading then went in to check on her and she was eating a danish so we opted to go to the oriental restaurant for a late lunch or early supper not sure which lots of left over's for tomorrow... then brought mom home and back out to get groceries and then home with a lot of groceries... it's now 9:30 and the munchies have set in
the town of Jackson did away with grocery bags... not sure if this is also at the "tourist " stores or not but boy can a lot of weight get put into those recyclable bags... tomorrow will have to put meat into zip bags ect so they can be in smaller bundles for the freezer..
and I still need to go water the plants that really perked up
you all have a good night

I worked from 10 to 2 today. They were short a stylist today so were busy. The manager had me help her with a shampoo/massage on one of her clients so I could get the hang of it. That went well but I need to practice the pressure points for the massage to remember them all. Later, I did a haircut on an older guy. He was very happy with his haircut and tipped me $10 and asked for a card with my name on it. Tomorrow I will probably be doing more haircuts and also the shampoo/massages (they call that the MVP treatment).

One thing that will be hard on me is that we are not allowed to sit down unless we are on our break. My feet were cramping up tonight. I am used to being able to sit down between haircuts and rest my feet. Thank God I am only working 4-6 hours a day there. I could never do that for 8 hours.

It has been very hot here. I think today got to 110* or more. Not used to that yet!

I need to start eating breakfast now, if they keep me on a 10-2 schedule. I just get a 10 minute break for 4 hours of work. I usually don't eat much in the mornings other than a donut and that keeps me going until noon, but I can't go until 2pm without any food so will have to eat before I go to work. (There are no donut shops on the way to this shop  ) I think scrambled eggs will be on the menu for that.

Off to bed...have a headache and am tired.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
