Tuesday, June 1

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday, June 1

Postby Shirlv » Tue Jun 01, 2021 8:45 am

Morning All, sunny, cool and a low dew point, so a perfect day for outdoors. I did say Rabbits so good for another month. An odds and ends day, fill the pepper grinder, run vinegar through the coffee maker, baking soda down the drains, you know fun stuff. Taking a ride to check on raised garden bed and take a walk. Not exciting just life. Be safe

Morning Shirl. Well I finally remembered Rabbits. Probably because I got up to potty about 4 and Emma didnt stir. I went back to bed for a couple of hours tho. Today is supposed to be our hottest day of the year 97° predicted. Right now it is 60 out but 69 in my house so opened all the window to let some of the cooler air inside. Will need to be mindful to close them in about an hour or so. I have a box fan to set up just to move the air around so might do that today. My AC works good so I will just busy myself here in the house. Going to make my meatloaf this morning but will cook it in the Air Fryer so as not to heat up the house.

Today I have 3 blossoms on my 2 squash plants. Only saw one yesterday. I need to keep an eye on it because those dang zucchini can triple in size overnight LOL The plants are not very big yet but starting to produce. Lots of blossoms on my tomatoes also but dont see anything forming yet. I have such a busy life watching things grow ha ha ha

Good morning Shirl, Karen & everyone that checks in!

Shirl, your days always amaze me. I can't wait for your recliner to be fixed. Karen, I'm looking forward to hearing about your veggie plants producing. Lots of you out west are having very warm weather, so please be careful. I wish I could send you some of the rain we'll be getting starting tomorrow. Anita is busy moving, Sheila is busy taking care of her Mom and JudyJB is on the road again.

I said rabbits at midnight just before we went to bed. This month has to be better than last month.

Enjoy your day and the new month.

Mornin' ladies~~~
I actuality said Rabbits! This morning about 6am. Hope it brings good travels. Leaving today and only heading 2 hours north to the dealer for yearly inspection and brakes. Will GTG with Eileen for a few days, then on to Indiana and lower Michigan to GTG with a lady I used to work with.

Have a good month everyone! Stay healthy, safe travel and happy gardening!

Good morning to all. It is 9:30 and we've been to grocery store and 99 cent store. Got going early about 7:30. by the time we got home it was already HOT out. Next few days will range from 103 to maybe 111. I don't see any walking in my future for a while. Even before sunrise it will be 80 out. As I get older the heat really bothers me.
Going to work on 9th great grand baby's quilt today. Need to put the binding on and am thinking about adding some embellishments to it.
Maybe I'll get the Bissell out and do the kitchen floor, or maybe not. I do have to vacuum the sewing room rug before I track the threads all over the house.
Poor Bill he just freezes when the AC is on - and we keep the thermostat at 82. That's as high as I can stand it. By the time we left the grocery store his hands were so cold he could barely hold the steering wheel. I was already "dewy" If all goes well with the cardiologist next week we hope to get out of Vegas for a few months this summer. We have a month worth of reservations on the Oregon coast. Haven't been there in a long time.
Thought of rabbits before I went to bed, forgot when I got up until I saw a news article on the growing rabbit population here in Vegas.

Hello Everybody, I’m checking in from Hartford, CT. Beautiful sunshine and much warmer than the past few days. The body doesn’t know whether it’s supposed to be hot or cold. Enjoy your day. Peggy

Afternoon here with a little rain. It isn't cold though like last week when it was raining. I forgot rabbits last night but then I usually do. My little Mitzi is better but still eating very little. I'm trying to watch today to be sure she is drinking. I sent a text to the groomer cancelling Emma's appointment for the year and told them what happened. I received an apology but no offer to pay anything toward the vet bill,
Irmi I also hope the month is better for you. Everyone sounds busy and making plans for the summer. Karen I'm picturing your yard being taken over by giant zucchini plants!

BJ, I had one bad experience with a simple bath when I had Moxie. After that she hated vets and groomers. I never got a penny from them and they defended themselves. I'm sorry that your place didn't do the right thing either. It pains me.

I did say rabbits maybe around 1 am when something woke me up. Had a short work day and am being fairly lazy. If I'd thought of it sooner I'd have planned to go boondock a little ways away for a night or two. So now I'm keeping that in mind for some days off. Tomorrow or Thursday I plan to check out a couple possibilities. Just a short drive and I can "go camping" lol And I'll probably head to a cave Thursday. That's the plan now anyway.

Carol, I don't handle the heat well either. But when it gets hot and the AC is on, it chills me. Even set at 80! I'd rather low 70's if it's sunny.

I input the wrong quantity ordering from puritans pride so I won't need one of my vitamins for awhile lol I can't believe I didn't notice until I got them. Duh! It was a great deal and I checked the dates and they're good. Good thing they don't take up much room.

Time to go for a walk.

Welcome to June from ‘roasty-toasty’ Cali. Happily the forecast is a downward trend for next ten days. I did remember ‘rabbits’ and even said good morning to our resident Jack. No travel news here; hoping for a couple hours in mountains later in week. Best to all!

Happy June! I didn't expect to see midnight to say 'rabbits', but I did. I came home exhausted yesterday after a good day. Monica hung my clothes and organized my huge closet (which is never going to be full). Then she started on the kitchen and it has 3 sections so she even got a bit perplexed. We spent 2 hours putting together my desk - one part missing and then found a blemish on the front edge. Part isn't critical so can use the desk. It's Sauder brand and the woman could not have been nicer - 5 year warranty so they will replace blemished piece.

I have two people interested in the camper so I'm at the 'toss it in a box' point. Alan will help me transport tomorrow and should be close to empty inside. Still some cleaning to do. Tonight will be my last night in here.

We are close to 100 degrees here today. Actually pleasant under the awning. Riding will have to wait! Apple Blossom festival beginning in Wenatchee - may get there at some point.

Many of you know I'm not a morning person so these 6:30 mornings are taking a toll. :)

I was going to rent a kayak and go out with Liz on the lake at Myakka State Park in Florida a few years ago. Alligators weren't keeping to their banks instead all over the lake so I decided that wasn't for me. Saw a couple out in an inflatable that wasn't fully inflated - no thanks.

Pictures eventually! :)

Gosh, I didn't even notice today is June 1st! Crazy!

Temps here are really pleasant. We were supposed to get up to the low 80's today. Cool nights, mornings & evenings so I can handle 80's during the day. :D

Finally got HOA approval to replace my HVAC system - not sure why they have to approve something like this, but they do. My current A/C is from 1970! It works & I don't use it much, but I decided to go ahead & upgrade both it & the furnace systems so I don't have to worry about them & it'll help when/if I decide to move someday.

Really enjoying not having the kids this week. I'm making headway on organizing things & love not having to get up & head out to pick them up each morning. Accomplished quite a bit over the weekend, but slacked today. Tomorrow I attack my bedroom.

Judy, my son took me for a ride in the Tesla the day they got it. He wanted me to drive it but I told him, thanks but no thanks. That screen in the middle is huge! I can imagine how distracting it must be until you're used to it. I'm doing just fine walking where ever I need to go. I hope they're enjoying my minivan!

Well, that's about it.
Let's see what June brings us.
Take care,
Catherine

Anita, my children ask how I slept the first night in the apartment. I said “ like a log”. They thought I was tough but in truth I was exhausted. :D I know how you feel.

P.s. I bought a wooden one inch round rod sawed it to length to lay in the track of the slider, it made me feel safer.

My Ohio son has two cars, neither of which are easy to drive. One is the Tesla and the other is s huge Ford Expedition that is hard to park. I take the Expedition, but have to pretend it is a motorhome and park way away from everyone else!! My other son has a huge four-passenger pickup truck, so I always borrow my DIL's car.

Anita, I am really glad you did not go kayaking at Myakka. There are a couple of really, really big alligators that hang around the visitor center. And they are at least 10-12' long. Several years ago, I saw an international tourist (Japanese, I think) whose wife was taking photos while he kept running up to the big guy and slapping him on his tail. I would have been happy to see the alligator lunge at him for such a stupid move. I'm going to be there again just before Christmas for 13 days this year again. Myakka is one of my favorite places, but I would want a nice, big, solid boat under me on that lake!! Except they don't allow nice, big solid boats there!! I don't mind the smaller alligators, but the really big ones are another story.

I am at Utah Lake SP in Provo right now. Long, very tiring 270 mile drive with a side wind which was not consistent. Just when I thought no wind, a strong gust would hit me and move me over a foot or two. Only driving 77 miles tomorrow and staying two nights. Then on to James Robb Island SP near Fruita on the weekend. Since I have such a short drive, I might stop at Kohl's and treat myself to some new shirts. I have not bought anything for a year and a half, so a lot of my shirts are really getting faded and pilling. (Good excuse, right??)

it's going to be a world of adjustment... but it will happen mom wanted to go to a viewing tonight so took her to that saw some old friends but that has been the most of what we did do... I did get the window washed until I just looked over in the sun and it's smeared looked good till tonight  need to help her with a shower in a few Mom got tired out so spent most of the day resting was on the go for the past two days.... so she deserved to rest
mom watches Hallmark almost exclusively need to remember though and not get involved in the movie that comes on at 4 as at 5 regardless she changes channels to watch the news... :? then two game shows then back to Hallmark of some sort because she has done this for years she must know how they end so doesn't worry about it me??? I haven't and don't know how they end... but that would be a good time to do some other things than tv like perhaps work on my Swedish Weave as I've not worked on it in forever...
the other day a post on FB came up one of my "friends" who is my nephew's SO and it was a picture of her and her two daughters with a sign in their hands and the heading saying they said yes... so at first thought one was getting married but as I pulled it up so I could read the signs said something about being a bridesmaid so made some comment then it came back today as I read some of the comments realized that they were congratulating her finally figured out that she was getting married so went to her page saw that she mentioned my nephew not long ago so assumed she was still with him so congratulated her and my nephew by name she gets back to me wanting my address so need to decide what one to give her it is really neat don't know his exact age but my eldest dd is going to be 50 on her next b'day nephew is older than her but at least 5 years perhaps more... first marriage... so exciting news...
watching the weather tonight looks like we are even going to be into high temps... way to early to have high temps
Anita looking forward to those pictures...
Karen bet you are going to enjoy your "fruits" of your labor

you all have a good night

Shirl, I'll have to get locks or dowels for the sliding windows. Also looked at that screen for the door you mentioned. I'm sure I'll sleep like a log, but a potential camper buyer is coming Thursday morning from Seattle between 10:30 and 11 so I'll have to get back here to finish up. My daughter is already in a panic about which man will be here to back me up - 2 of the neighbors are willing to stand by if needed. She forgets she's the doormat in this family and everyone takes advantage of her. At least the inquiries have all been through Messenger and no phone calls!

Sheila, I hear you about the news and game shows - that's what happens at my aunt's. Can't talk her into cable and not like she can't afford it. She would love the Hallmark channel.

Judy, I'd have cheered that alligator to give them a fright! Beth told stories about the Asian tourists and the bears in Valdez. Look at all the stories out of Yellowstone lately. Crazy people!

And I gave up on installing the vent over the Fantastic Fan. :) My back has been giving me too much trouble for that.
