Sunny Monday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny Monday!

Postby Othersharon » Mon May 31, 2021 11:59 am

Good afternoon from the east coast! Finally having a mostly sunny day today but more importantly the temps are out of the 40’s and low 50’s! We’ll need another one or two days with no rain to be able to get out in the yard again though. Not sure that’ll happen! Showers in the forecast in the next few days but higher temps so I’ll take it! I shouldn’t complain about the rain when the west is so dry. Hard to believe that May is almost over and knocking on the door of June. Cookout at son’s this afternoon so that’s the most exciting thing happening for me today. It’s feeling good to be able to do that again and not have to overthink it. But still careful when I’m outside of my bubble. Not much to add today but just hope you all have a great day.

Afternoon Sharon and All, I’m enjoying the sunshine and warmer temps. Built a teepee for potted tomato monster. Had to remove a chair from the balcony to make room for the plants. Trying to think of a banner to hang from balcony railing like “HELP! Trapped at home by traffic”. Does carbon monoxide infuse tomatoes? Anita, thinking of you, it’s a happy tired. :D Be safe everyone

Shirl, it sounds like you will soon be trapped by your plants. Last time I mowed in Maurice I sprayed the driveway with weed killer. That didn't work. When I went to Lowe's I got a bag of granular weed killer. Coming back from Lafayette yesterday I stopped and put it out. It probably won't work until it rains, if it works at all.

For some reason I thought today was still Sunday. Glad I remembered it was Monday because I have a lot to do tomorrow. I have to go pick up some papers in Lafayette and bring them to New Iberia. I hope my insurance agent is back from his trip. There is going to be kayaking and tubing at my next campout and I want to go by the outdoor store and see if I can get one of the shirts people wear in the water. I am still undecided about going tubing. It would be ok if it was for a couple of hours but it's an all day affair. I better try on my swim suits and see if they are still good. I don't even remember how long it has been since I have been swimming. My club meeting will be at 6:30. The June meeting is to celebrate Father's day and we have a steak dinner.

I was late putting my ribs in the oven so lunch is late.

It has made it up to 90 today. I have been going fishing every afternoon that it isn't raining. I am having to walk Sugar and go fishing later and later because it's too hot. Sure not looking forward to the upper 90's.

Yes, we could certainly use your showers here in the west. We are under a burn ban and chances are will be the rest of the summer. I'm no longer a campfire person so no fires is just fine with me.

I don't know what part of "I prefer split days off" my managers have trouble with. We finally have a very part time helper in housekeeping and she prefers working her two days in a row. So she gets what she asked for and I have my two days off together. It shouldn't matter this week but housekeeping can be tiring and back breaking when we're busy. I went in an hour earlier today and it feels good to be off earlier. Yesterday was a longer, tiring day and I actually went to bed early.

Martha I've had trouble with what day it's been all this weekend. I almost didn't run to the store on Saturday because I was thinking it was Sunday (most everything closes here on Sundays). Luckily I realized it on time because I needed something for what I was planning to fix for dinner on the real Sunday.

Sharon with your comment that May is almost over I'm reminded we need to say rabbits in the morning. Hopefully I'll remember then. That's kind of hit and miss.

Quick rest area stop on my way home to Elko for tonight.

I got my mother’s car away from her by saying that her favorite grandson desperately needed a car!!!

More later.

Martha, somehow tubing in alligator infested waters doesn't sound like a very good idea to me!

Feeling better today but still have a headache so I guess I need to drink a lot more water. Need to get caught up on a few things around here too.

Tomorrow I will call the manager of Sport Clips to set up a time to do a haircut for her. My friend Dave has agreed to be my model for that.

Wednesday, I have my first PT appointment. Because I am starting over with it I have to go thru the assessment session first. That is why I had to wait 2 weeks for this appointment. My shoulder is feeling much better and I keep working on stretching it out each night. Just need to start strengthening it again.

Have a good day! :D

Barbie, don't remind me. That river will be wall to wall tubes so maybe one won't pick me. lol I'm not there yet. I am going to try to leave Sugar with my son. If he can't keep her I wouldn't leave her for the day.

So I need to start practicing for "RABBITS" in the morning ha ha My track record isn't very good so I don't have high hopes LOL But I did remember this month so guess there is a little bit of hope.

OMG Martha, I wouldn't stick my toe in that water let alone swim or tube in it. In fact all mud puddles would be suspect to me. Not only alligators but those creepy snakes are there too. I fear for all you southern people LOL I am content to remain west of the Rockies.

Barbie hope your PT goes well. I hated PT everything hurt so much worse afterwards. My doc said I didnt have to go anymore so I did not. Looking forward to more pics of Anita's apartment. I saw the ones on FB and it looks lovely and I am sure she has lots of excitement over setting down some roots. Judy is on the road again, safe travels. Fun to see and hear how everyone's gardens are doing. I have my first bloom on my squash plant and lots of little flowers on the tomatoes so hoping for a bumper crop LOL I have never grown tomatoes in a pot before but they seem to be doing pretty well so might be my new normal. I have to go to Home Depot tomorrow and get some compost and potting soil so I can get my seed potatoes in their bags. I want to see how this works so I am experimenting. My seed potatoes have sprouted nicely and I bought a few more when I was up visiting Laura so I should have plenty. My neighbor did this last spring but I never got to see the results because of the fire so we shall see.

Making a meatloaf in the morning again. I just love meatloaf sandwiches so will have it for tomorrow nights dinner THEN I can have sandwiches.....yum

Drove 260 miles today and will drive 270 tomorrow. Normally, I like to stop for an extra day every couple of days, but northern Nevada is a little hot now, not horribly, but I'd rather spend a rest day in the mountains where it will be cooler. Next stop is Utah Lakes in Provo, then 2 days in Helper Utah, 3 days in Fruita Colorado, 4 days in Heaton Bay near Frisco, and finally 6 days at Chatfield SP in Denver. Going to visit with my nephew in Denver. Haven't seen him for a few years, so glad to stop and visit. Also, will do laundry there!! Yea for state parks with laundries!!

I also need to drink more because I was really exhausted when I got here. I stopped at Walmarts here in Elko and got irritated because there were no cashiers. I usually prefer a cashier because it is faster and I believe stores should hire people, not make the customers do all the work. Anyway, when I headed to my RV, I saw a lady dabbing ice water on a dog that was in the bed of a pickup truck and had been vomiting from the heat. She had dumped her stuff into her own car when she saw the sick dog that had been left in the sun. I went back into the store for her to get a manager and report it. By the time I found someone I came outside and the stupid young man who owned the truck was back. He thought it was fine to leave the dog in the truck bed because it was less hot there than in the cab of the truck--really dumb because it was in the hot sun, and obviously the dog was not doing well. By the time I left, it was fine, but I told the rescuer lady that that was why I did not own any pets while traveling.

I didn't take Shadow with me when going to the store unless I stopped while towing the 5th wheel... or traveling back from somewhere to home... because I didn't want to worry about him being in the truck and someone think he was hot... I had a fan that was on all the time and rolled the windows down a bit... and hurried but like I said a normal shopping trip he didn't come with me ...
at my mom's for the unforeseeable future... got over here a lot quicker than I expected to but had help son came out and got my dishes and took them in and washed them in the house... he did that while I was making the scones... made an error with them but they really puffed up and could taste the added ingredient just a little bit... for some reason I was thinking it had soda in the recipe so got it out then when I was adding ingredients I added the soda with baking powder salt and sugar... but like I said they raised really well
need to get into some what of a different schedule like wake up earlier as mom has gotten used to 3 meals a day hard to have breakfast at 10:30 and lunch at lunch time   but at the same time I would like to see her doing more things on her own so perhaps breakfast is a good place to start... I am so used to going to bed late and getting up late... and piece or perhaps sandwich then supper some times fairly late cause I usually ate with the family... because I've been having to get up early the past 3 days would really like to sleep tomorrow morning later than 8
one positive thing is that when I hear a add for a Hallmark movie that sounds good will probably get to to see it as that tends to me the channel of choice ...
did finally get my direct tv canceled now if I can just figure out a new way of getting tv I think unless I can figure out a way to stream and not go into slow down mode I think I will get one of those cute little dish things
you all have a good day
