Wednesday May 19

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday May 19

Postby Shirlv » Wed May 19, 2021 9:42 am

Morning All, sunny, warm and Beatrice the wind chime is spinning in the breezy. Staying home waiting for the furniture delivery. The balcony garden is starting to look like a jungle and I am sick of eating lettuce and spinach. Will plant only one pot of lettuce next year. My skin is getting a green tinge. :) Will do a little cleaning and plant trimming on the balcony today. Be safe

Cheryl, how are you feeling?

Shirl, I should have planted lettuce instead of catnip. Some of the plants are about 5" tall but kind of look like the weeds that grow in the yard. I don't know if I'm growing catnip or weeds. I should pick a leaf and offer it to one of the cats and see what they think. lol

Annie is looking better today. What ever the shot is that the vet gives her is a miracle to make her stop licking and pulling her fur out. She has lost a pound since last August. I got her some canned food to try to get her to eat more. It's hard to feed one cat something good without the others finding out. Possie wouldn't come in last night and she is still outside. I don't know what her problem is. Stinky had wanted to stay out last week but now she doesn't want to go out. I managed to get a flea treatment on her without her having a fit. CC will be next.

I'm in slow motion this morning. It has rained off and on since yesterday but it looks like most of the rain is in the Gulf. They are still predicting a lot of rain for today, tomorrow and Friday.

Good morning. Had several plans today but they involved being outside and as soon as I got dressed and ready to go it started raining. Oh well, like I say tomorrow is another day. It isn't raining hard and it may go away so we shall see. I have a couple things to complete here inside so that will work too. Needing a bit more motivation to get off my butt tho.

I never plant lettuce as it grows too darn fast and like Shirl I get sick of it too soon. Maybe if I just planted a small container but that is like cooking a small batch of spaghetti.....it multiplies quickly.

Uh oh, the sun is peeking out for a brief moment might have to get outside yet.

Hello Everybody,
Sheila, I read your post about Kerry having surgery. Please give her my best wishes for a quick recovery. I sent you a PM.

Beth, happy to hear that you have some good bosses who care about their workers. That makes working far more enjoyable.

The summer heat has arrived and my garden is thirsty. Had to get out the hoses. Hopefully it will cool down again and we’ll get some rain. Peggy

There is no news here today because I have accomplished nothing! At 10:30 neighbor knocked on the door - the one morning I hadn't even put a bra on yet let alone get dressed  - and he wanted to look at the truck. Eventually got myself together and went out to continue washing/waxing Sling and here he came. Must have visited about 3 hours! Yesterday I got sidetracked when lease and apartment handbook came.

Neighbor is most likely going to buy my truck. I met him here last year and he's fun to visit with. He's also offered help if I need it with people looking at the camper when the time comes. You know how much fun it is to speculate about people in a campground so I'm thinking the gal next door is trying to get Dan's attention. On this cool morning she walked her dog in a 2 piece bathing suit with sort of a wrap - not the first 'fetching' outfit. She's probably wondering why he's visiting the old lady.

Like Karen, the rain showed up here so no vehicle washing after all. Beth, how nice to have bosses that get it! Martha, I'm always in slow motion in the morning! Shirl, enjoy the new recliner!

2:40 so guess I'll find some lunch and see if I can accomplish something. :D

Feeling good today. The muscle is was a bit sore, but not as sore as the first shot. Feels OK today. But boy, I had a major headache in the evening and woke up every 2 hours. Not sure if it was the headache or the really bizarre dreams I had. And everything thing in them was noisy! Went from crickets to cicadas to rattle snakes. :? :D

I survived. Thanks for asking. Mostly rain in Illinois this week and summer will arrive for at least 2 days with humidity and temps in the 80°-90° range.

Can't wait to hit the road again June 1st. I think I'm doing more driving here at home than when I'm sightseeing.

Have a good evening ladies!

Have spent day emptying boxes and shredding and tossing. Tackled his file cabinet again. Amazing how much he had stuffed in there, mostly stuff to shred all with his personal info on each page. Trying to get son to finally do his laundry. Cooler past few days, only 77 today! No rain, however. Very dry with breezes past week or so. Had Curves this morning . I'll be so glad when I feel like I've gotten to the bottom of the old old papers and it's all shredded and gone! Sure would rather be off camping!
Shirl, hope the new recliner is really comfy. Karen, instead of planting entire pot of lettuce, why not plant just a seed or two every 3-5 days? I've never gotten lettuce to grow here, but have heard that works.
Have a good evening all.

Velda and Karen, Lettuce and spinach are cold weather plants. Maryland is zone 7 and we plant fall and spring. Not familiar with your weather. My recliner is comfy by the mechanism to raise and lower foot rest not working properly. Will call tomorrow

Well, I hope my boss cares about me...I got in a huge fight with one of the male co-workers (the other one) this afternoon after he harassed and insulted a female client and I had to intervene and finish her haircut. He was just nasty as hell to her and she did nothing to deserve it. He wasn't cutting her hair the way she wanted it and he just got nasty about it when she told him what she wanted. I cut it the way she wanted it and she was very happy. I apologized upside down and backwards for his unprofessional and uncalled for attitude.
Later just before closing, I told him how I felt about what he said to her and he just went crazy on me! Totally turned it all around and blamed me for it. Then said everything is my fault because I get to pick and choose what services I want to do now (I have a doctors note saying I can't do perms or hairstyles because of my shoulder), and that I don't belong there anymore because I am not a real hair stylist. We went back and forth and it just got ugly (from him. I kept my cool). Before I closed up shop, I sent my manager a text message saying we had a big fight and I was bringing in my resignation tomorrow. I didn't really intent to quit but I just wanted her to take this situation seriously. I called her when I got home and told her what happened. (I also reminded her that being harassed about a disability at work is illegal.) She said she is going to talk to the owner and let me know tomorrow what they decide to do. This is not the first time this guy has gone off on coworkers, clients and also managers. I just can't tolerate this kind of crap. I am so sick of this childish behavior from grown men! Makes me glad I am single! I sure would hate to be married to something like that.

So now I am trying to calm down and relax. Have a couple of shows on TV that I want to watch tonight. I don't work tomorrow or Friday. I will finish my gourd tomorrow.

Could you gals with all the lettuce, find neighbors who would like some? I wish I knew someone around here that had good fresh lettuce to share!

Wow! The winds are really kicking up now! They are calling for damaging winds until late Friday night here.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Shirl: I can plant lettuce (spinach, cabbage, broccolli, etc.) in "late autumn" (early November) and again in "early spring" (late January). Here we can still have many 90 degree days in October, up to and often including Halloween.

We mostly have two seasons here in the general Sacramento, Ca., area: "Bake your brains" and "freeze your buns" (cold weather here being relative - relative to how hot it can get in the summer - 110 to 115). Not too much in between these two extremes. "Spring" will last, maybe, a week - about the same for autumn.

Velda and I are in Zone 9. Not sure about Karen.

JudyJB, where have you got to? Hope you are ok.

I'm here, just been really busy. Microsoft changed how the comments worked in the review function and that has caused me major headaches because, in its infinite wisdom, Microsoft once again made things harder with more steps because they wanted the function to work better on social media. I spent several hours online with the college's online help staff, and basically, we discovered that we cannot revert back to an earlier version. So it takes me about 30% longer to grade papers, and my students are having problems viewing them, which means they email me for help. And that takes even more time. Just really frustrating.

Luckily, I have only four weeks to go before I am done, done, done with students, grading papers, and college stuff!!

I am in Southern California near Dana Point and my co-POA person for my aunt and I spent several hours yesterday and today sorting through stuff in the storage room. One fun thing is that my aunt saved every letter and post card anyone sent her since 1952. We sorted them according to family, and I have a huge stack to go through--like 8" high! I can't believe I wrote that many letters. Also actually ate a dinner out in a real restaurant--first one for a year!! I am headed to Napa tomorrow to spend a few days with my older son before I head east to Ohio and Michigan for the summer.

Glad you chimed in Judy. I'm sure you're glad the end is near.

Barbie, they will be fools if they accept your resignation. He was totally out of line. Keep us posted.

My managers hired a local today to help part time so my 6 day work week this week became 5 and I'll have Friday and Saturday off. Tomorrow will be a long hard day (but I'm betting my managers help and it won't be too bad) and it'll be easier knowing I don't go back a 6th day Friday. I offered, so it's not like I was being forced, so I hope she works out. If she's only going to work 2 days I'm going to ask for split days off when possible.

A headache is bothering me tonight, so I'm heading to bed and hoping to sleep it off. Night all.

went in for the follow up appointment today... when I went down to the car sil said do you feel up to driving can see clearly so said sure... so he proposed that he take the truck and take it to where the window people are so they can replace the windshield so we did that got to the appointment all is well... decided that a cinnamon roll sounded good so stopped at this place never been to it but been wanting to oh talk about expensive.... didn't realize till it was rung up how expensive don't know how they survive in a college town... day old mind you pkg of 9 sticky buns and a fresh today's cinnamon roll mini at that came to 19 plus cash.... oh my should have changed my mind but I didn't eat my cinnamon roll on the way home... sorta glad sil didn't take me up on getting one!!! :o we had better enjoy those sticky buns can't imagine what fresh ones cost as it was 15 for day old.... and not to be egotistical but I could have made 72 cinnamon rolls for a heck of a lot cheaper and in my mind better in some ways mine are more cinnamony not a word I know but...
then we came home and picked up the sheriff's car a day for shuttling could have gone back and picked up the truck but I wanted to attend our women's meeting first activity in over a year was so ready for it... they had Hawaiian Haystacks so enjoy them... so we will have to figure out a way to go get the truck tomorrow.... it's been a long time since I have not had cracks in the windshield ... and was far less than I was expecting...
by the time I got home I was beat something to do with 5 hours of sleep...

Beth, my manager told me that she will NOT accept my resignation, and my leaving is not an option. :D I just hope they take this situation seriously. They are good at just slapping these guys on the back of the hand and hoping it all blows over.
