Tuesday May 11

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday May 11

Morning All, pretty sunny spring morning. Allergies are very bad this spring so windows are shut which I hate. Stayed home all weekend. Main highway was shut down for hours on Saturday. Police chase and a stand-off so bay bridge backed up again. I dressed on Sunday to go to dinner at daughters but checked traffic cam before I left, good thing, traffic again.
I walked to the local restaurant and got a carry out crab cake dinner. Son texted me to come out on balcony. I lowered the rope and he attached a card with gift cards to a couple of restaurants which are always appreciated. I lowered a little tomato plant that popped up in the pot beside my big plant. Going to get dressed and go check on the raised garden bed. I really need to take a ride. Be safe

Good morning. We have had some crazy weather here but not particularly warm! Wind and rain mostly. Keeps it just wet enough to not be able to do what I need outside! Saw snowflakes Sunday but luckily it didn’t stick here but other areas north of here apparently had a mess. 80 was a mess from what I hear. But on the upside I guess we could be having worst so I can’t really complain! I really want camping weather! Not much else happening in my life. Pretty much the same as always. Sandi, I too love your art. And Barbie, hope your shoulder gets to feeling better. I get concerned for all of you dealing with no rain and fire danger. Please stay safe. I saw a piece on the 17 year cicadas getting ready to make an appearance and I remember the last one and while it was interesting it sure was loud and messy! So that’s about all my news! I need to empty the dishwasher and should probably run to the grocery store. Now if I just stick to my list I’ll have it made! But know that never seems to happen! Hope you all have a good week and stay safe.

Good Morning All, Shirl I love your basket delivery system! Sorry your allergies are so bad. It must be really annoying to deal with the bridge traffic. Are there other roads you can take or are you blocked in when the traffic backs up?
The sun is out but it was 40 degrees this morning! Next week I'll probably be saying it is 80. Spring weather is crazy.
Our yard needs mowing again. iI is so green and pretty this time of the year but it is expensive to keep up with the mowing. We have an extra lot which of course increases the cost. We have a couple taking care of it this year and they do a really good job. The man who used to mow for us moved away. He must have been doing well as he bought a 5 bedroom house with beautiful landscaping that was $350,000!!!
Has anyone used the Nexguard pill for ticks? Emma is taking it but just had her first one yesterday.

Morning all. O’Sharon, you just had our wether over the weekend. We are still below norm, temp wise, with nights below freeing. Lows are in the 20’s. Tonight is supposed to be the last night for this cold spell and a gradual warm up coming. Snow/rainwas actually around this morning.

I did get my trailer uncovered on Sunday but that’s as far as I’ve gotten. Too cold to get in there and get it cleaned up. Hopefully this weekend I will be able to get at it. I’m supposed to leave on first trip of the season on the 27th. Actually Sunday is out as I have a Memorial Service to go to and Thursdsy my new countertops are bing installed, so that day. Is shot as well.

I’m also hampered a bit by a sprained elbow which I am being treated for by my chiropractor. Doing the moist heat thing 4 times a day here at home and she also said to increase my supplements I am taking to reduce inflammation in my body. They must be doing something as I’ve noticed my skin is getting softer, my sinuses seem to be a bit it clearer and a few other things too. I also need to wear an elbow support for a little bit. And, no Shirl, , it isn’ due to trimming trees and throwing dirt around  I think it is due to my arm being yanked kind of hard when I was walking the dogs last week, and Molly made an abrupt about face to go backwards and check a scent she picked up. But it really hasn’t restricted me much, mostly things where I need to raise my arm at an angle like brushing hair etc. Was painful for past 4 days, but one Chiro treatment and it’s feeling better already.

Right now, my tummy says it wants lunch, so I shall go rustle up some grub. Ace a good afternoon all.

Good Morning!

Thinking of Sheila and her cataract procedure today. Trust all will be well. Sue, glad your elbow is getting better but ouch! I've been having more back issues than usual. I think the sofa sleeping hasn't helped, but I did use a menthol patch when I shopped last week. Usually I can only stand for so long, but I spent hours shopping that day with no issue. Shirl, love your delivery system! :) I think about your balcony garden and have realized my patio corner could have a tier of planters! Karen, I had deer at the house I bought after Steven died. One day I had pretty pink tulips and the next morning I didn't. Same with tomato blossoms. Grrr. I did buy the spray, but of course, I had to respray every time it rained.

Sunday my anxiety kicked in again about the furniture bill mess so to put it to rest a bit, I used the store's website to send an e-mail. That afternoon the store's 40 year old female owner called me! She was so nice and saw problems right away so will be fixing everything. Whew!

Last year I bought a Maxx-Air cover for the Fantastic Fan and never got it installed due to weather. Today is the day. I've watched the videos and the cutting away of caulk and then replacement. I decided I wanted to make sure I have plenty of caulk so bought another tube. This morning I remembered mine installed with flashing and not caulk so I don't need it! Have 2 partial tubes. This old age memory thing is becoming annoying. :)

Time to get a move on - enjoy your day!

It was around 95 degrees here yesterday, tomorrow close to 100 (the forecast says 97, at my house temps usually see a degree or two more than the forecast). Overnight lows about 60 degrees.

It is HOT and DRY-DRY-DRY. :( Many wildfires popping up all over, extremely unusual for this early in the year. Most have been rapidly extinguished, a few have grown to hundreds of acres, with undoubtedly more to come.

"Red Flag" warning from the National Weather Service, "...Critical Fire Weather Conditions Through the Afternoon for Elevations Below 2000 Feet..." due to high winds and unusual heat for the rest of the day.

"historic and unanticipated reductions in the amount of water flowing to major reservoirs."

On Edit:

Hitting 100 degrees just now for the first time this year, close on to 5:00 p.m. I am so not ready for hot weather.

Feels like walking into an oven when I open the front door.

My ac/furnace unit is kind of old and creaky; I usually set the thermostat less than warm (at 68 degrees) in the winter, I think I will try to run with setting it at 80 degrees for this summer - hopefully, it won't cycle so much as it would if it was set to the lower 70's (which would, of course, be more comfortable). But with our often 110 - 115 summer temps probably coming soon. . . wish me luck.

Barbie, you hit 100 yet this year?

I went to Lafayette again today. I took my watch to see if the band could be fixed. The guy told me he couldn't fix the part that is broken and to just wear it until the other side breaks. Dumb A$$! I have already lost one watch because the band broke and I didn't find it. I have been wearing my Vivofit as a watch but it's hard to get it to change to steps. I'm either going to have to get a new band or a new watch.

I decided to move the truck back on the carport because the weather man said we might have hail. I had moved it so my sister could park on the carport. The tire warning showed one of the tires was low. I had two portable air compressors and the big electric one trying to put air in that tire. One was letting air out and one burned out the fuse in the truck 12 volt plug. I finally got it aired up. I think that's the tire that had a slow leak before. It was getting too dark to try to find the fuse box. I'm getting too old for all of this. Anita, were you on top of your RV installing the vent cover. You shouldn't be doing that either. Glad you got your furniture problem fixed.

BJ, Sugar is on Nexguard chewables. They say they are for ticks and fleas. Her hair is too thick for me to find a flea on her and we don't have ticks. She seems to itch and scratch a lot. She throws herself on the ground to scratch her back She almost tripped me this afternoon when she threw herself down right in front of me when we were walking. Guess I need to talk to the vet. I should find out how much someone would charge me to mow in Maurice so I don't have to haul the mower over there. It has rained there a lot so I'm not going to be able to mow for a couple of weeks or run the risk of getting the mower stuck again.

I should have been getting the camper ready to leave Thursday instead of running the roads. I'll have a lot to do tomorrow. At least I only have to go about 60 miles.

The radar shows rain and yellow boxes all around but it hasn't rained here yet.

OMG!! I just got a text message from my manager with the updated schedule for work next week. She put me on a 9 hour split for my first day back on Saturday! Seriously???? This shot I am getting tomorrow is for pain but is not fixing the damage. It doesn't mean I can go back to marathon hair cutting with long hours!! Jeeze! I texted her back and said "No way I can or will do that shift!". She changed it to a 9-2. I have been off work for 3 weeks and I couldn't possibly work a shift like that right off the bat, pain or no pain. Wow! Just shaking my head.

Been laying low the past few days so I don't accidentally strain my shoulder. Been doing my exercises tho. I had my neighbor take my trash to the dumpster today. I can't lift the dumpster lid and toss the heavy bad inside.

Am nervous about my shot tomorrow. At least it will be over quickly. Just hope it works. Need to get PT set up soon.

Ann, we are on day 10 for days over 100* this season so far. I keep the AC around 77* in the room I am in, and 80* in the room I am not. The other night the wind came up some and I opened the windows in the bedroom to enjoy it. It was so nice!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie, I wanted to let you know that when I had the shoulder cortisone shot, I never felt any pain from the needle at all, so I hope this injection will be less pain than the ones you've had in the past. Good luck!

I’ve been getting cortisone shots in my right shoulder every 6 months for several years. My doctor is a master at getting it in the right location. Never any pain from the shot or adverse reaction and always begins working within a few days.
