Windy Sunday...again

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Windy Sunday...again

Postby BarbaraRose » Sun May 02, 2021 11:48 am

Woke up to high winds this morning. My power went out for a bit and then I had to get my internet working again. Luckily, I remembered what the Spectrum guy had me do a couple weeks ago when that happened, and it worked, so I am back on-line!

Had my corn on the cob last night. It was so sweet and crispy! Need to get more!

"Cooling down" to the upper 90's thru this week! Summer is here!

I bought some chain to fasten the patio table to a large eye hook in the cement in front of the shed to keep it from tipping over in high winds (if the umbrella gets blown over).

Have nothing specific planned for today but have a lot of things that need to get done, so will have to figure something out.

I found the daughter, on FB yesterday, of a family that my mom and I were good friends with years ago in Minnesota. Found out her mom passed away in February from Covid. She was the nicest lady and a great cook! My mom lived next door to them when they all lived in northern MN. My mom lived in a cabin at my cousin's resort and this family owned the resort next door. Was nice to reconnect but sad that both of her parents are now gone. :(

Just waiting for my church service to start soon. My stomach is growling so I better find something to put in it.

Have a good day!

Quiet here, wind wise, and headed into mid 80's today, 90 by mid week. I'm thinking about the fact that my younger son, the MN Deputy, will be 39 tomorrow. Where does time go?
Must be something in air today, I have a little allergy cough. Don't think it's smoke from fire just direct east of us, the other side of Folsom Lake, which was only 30 acres last night.
Friday at PT there was a patient waitng who had a mask on with tubing that went to a little box about size of a cigarette pack, that was a battery powered HEPA filter. She has lung issues and said it helped so much but she couldn't get them anymore. I checked, and sure enough it can't be sold in CA! That's crazy. About same crazy as you can't buy a Certain brand of Empty little spray bottle to be delivered because its against CA pollution standards- its an empty bottle for putting water or glitter spray in! I've asked Amazon and they haven't changed it in several years I've asked. Just plain nuts how some stuff falls under these standards. That HEPA filter might be useful,if smoke again descends into our valley, but can't buy them.
Church starts in about 1 hour. I'm still not going back yet, as I'm more comfortable here on zoom.
Have a good day !

I had another short work day and will be off tomorrow. The RV park is full but not the motel. I wanted less hours this summer so I'm not complaining. And, yes, I will complain if I get too many lol It's good exercise but I don't want to overdo.

Off to check weather to see what I want to do with my day off. This afternoon I'll do a load or two of laundry

Not too much going on here today either. We had a couple of nights of gentle rain so every little bit helps. Today slightly cloudy but not cold out. Good for the tomato and squash plants I planted.

Had a fun few days with Lois my old neighbor whose house I now stay at in Medford instead of the hotel when I have my doc appts. She is getting her house all fixed up also. It takes alot when you start with nothing. She came up Thursday and left yesterday and she hadn't seen my house before so that was fun. Laura is coming today as she has business in Medford so will stay today and tomorrow night on her way back so had to get the sheets changed. I am having a fun few days. I won't see too much of Laura tho but I will take what I can get.

Fence company coming tomorrow to give me an estimate on chain link fence for my yard. Right now I have a few Xpens I am using as fencing at each end but hey it's working ha ha.

Not much going on here today. The rain finally got here during the night. I don't like night storms but it didn't last long.

I cooked a small pork roast today. It was suppose to be stuffed but if it was there wasn't much stuffing. I find it really dry. I'll have to think of something to use it in. Maybe I can make fried rice.

Velda, do you think the post office checks to see if things can be mailed to California. Maybe you can get your son to send you things. I have seen the warning on things on Amazon about not being shipped to California.

Barbie, I wish I could buy sweet corn here. My neighbor told me that the feed store has a mini farmers market on their porch on Saturday mornings. I'll have to make an effort to go by sometime. I had grown some corn one time that was like eating candy. That was the best corn I had ever eaten.

I finally got around to cutting the bottom piece of Lexan to put on the screen door in the motorhome. I'm going to try to attach it with heavy duty velcro. I hope it's not too heavy. It's not going to be easy to cut the curved top piece.

I have an appointment to give blood tomorrow. I better put a sign on the coffee pot so I'll remember in the morning. lol

went to church came home did some stuff on the internet then realize how cloudy it was getting a chance of rain so went out and poured out the two bags of top soil then some potting soil on top of that and planted the plants and pansies I had gotten... I am sure that in the future if the plants survive people would buy the property will wonder... I planted a dog wood yellow version some other plant that I don't remember the name of and columbine plus the yellow pansies hopefully they all will look good together
was going to fix a meal but the family went to the farm my granddaughter is graduating this spring from high school and going to college in Pocatello where the farm is is about 20 or so minutes from there so they are fixing up a room that they have kept attached to the farm house into an apartment for her to stay in ... will be nice for one person ... my biggest concern is son in laws sister and niece live in the farm house I am afraid she will take advantage of granddaughter... for lots of free babysitting .... hope I am wrong...
got my nap in now I need to finish parking what I need to take to my brother's .... love how my mom refers to us babysitting her... we will bring her back for the weekend so that she can visit with family closer to her house hopefully my brother's will make it over to see her... I have 3 brother's and 1 sister living .... she is with one of my brother's right now
so guess I ought to get my butt in gear and doing something right or wrong... oh finish the afghan last night except for trimming the fringe Yea!!!! oh it's big I goofed and to fix my goof I had to add another section wow it's big!!!!

It has been so windy, like a hurricane, today! The power has gone off and on all day long, and just long enough to mess up my connections. I kept having to reconnect the cable and wifi over and over, and finally gave up and took a nap! :lol

Didn't get much done other than taking out the trash and cardboard boxes. Could feel the dust in my eyes when I got back. My eyes are still sore and watery tonight. I think I will put some drops in before I go to bed.

My shoulder is still sore today but I am not taking any pain pills for it since I am getting my second Covid shot in the morning.

I discovered today that I also didn't get my cans of veggies I bought at WM the other day. I wonder if they will believe me when I go back for those?

I have also tried to order certain things from Amazon that were not allowed to be shipped to CA. Some things made no sense at all.

Martha, back in MN, fresh corn season was the middle of August. Out here it is the end of April. I look for ears with small, shiny, light yellow kernals. They are the crispiest and sweetest ones! I know what you mean about them being like candy! If they are sweet and crispy, I almost don't even need butter on them and could eat them all day long! Nothing better! :D

I better head to bed...

Martha, my son works often more than sixty hours a week, no time to shop for me or get to post office, besides the extra $ it would add. It's seldom an issue, but it's still curious some items that are marked not for CA, ESP when a larger package of same item is ok.
