She said she was taught that and pointed to several pieces hanging in her house that were unsigned , saying, we are pretty sure one of my Aunts did this, but because they didn't sign or date, we don't know for sure. My friend showed me her porcelain painting and said she signed and dated every piece, whether it was her favorite or not. When I make cards, I even have my name stamp for back of those.

Velda, because I don’t have great confidence in the Chinese version of my name that I looked up, I’ve ordered one of the square Chinese name stamps you see on their creations. It will come with a red ink pad. These stamps usually appear underneath Chinese writing naming the piece. They could not fit my first and last names in Chinese unless I wanted to go to a larger size. I was worried that size might over-shadow the actual painting so I went with the smaller version with my first name and last name initial. That’s why some I’ve painted aren’t signed while waiting several weeks for the stamp. They carve the name onto it so it takes a little while. We’ll see how it looks. Once it comes I can decide if I want to go with the larger size. This is all a learning experience while having nothing else to do each day after walking the pups.

Practice, practice, practice.

But it's doubtful many read Chinese, so why not sign and date below in English? I just love your little hummingbird painting.

And I love the Chinese characters as the signature.

And as we encourage you to price and sell. I will encourage you to research and research. Honestly evaluate what you see priced at art fairs and festivals. How they are presented: matted, simply framed or just the painting. Prices for originals and what numbered copies go for. Artists are valued best that value themselves.

I’ve never had any type of art class and I’m finding I have an awful lot to learn. I had to toss the one I tried yesterday. Some techniques of Chinese Brush Painting I’ll just not be able to do on the paper I have. But I’m enjoying just painting during the pandemic. I seem to be in a rut with birds.

Sandi, I was curious so searched brush painting. Watched Virginia Loyd Davies give a lesson on YouTube. She took lessons for over 25 years. Her hands flowed, was so interesting to watch. New appreciation for your paintings.

Birds are nice, but how about some bunnies? I really like that last bird of the rock, however.

I know Koi fish are harder to do but have you attempted that yet?

Love the bunnies!

No, I hadn’t tried a koi Barbie, but at your suggestion I did. That was a challenge and could be better, but I’m a beginner so here’s the result.

Sandi you continue to amaze me. Someone mentions something and you immediately give it a try. And do a fantastic job. I hope you ate enjoying doing these as much as we're enjoying seeing them.
