Thursday April 22

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday April 22

Morning All, cold but sunny on the shore. Hard to keep up with the weather. Yesterday tried to keep ahead of advancing storm Rushed to cover the tender plants in garden.so wind wouldn’t destroy them. Got caught in a thunderstorm. Daughter reported plants survived. Not sure they did freezing temps last night. Glad this complex keeps up with maintenance but inconvenient at times. Gas company coming today to inspect the gas range and check that burners and connections are safe. Thursdays is also Farmers Market day and I really need some good Greek garlic infused olive oil to go with the loaf of Italian bread sitting on the counter. Lol. I will slice and freeze the bread so I do not eat the whole loaf this week. Hoping gas company comes early. Be safe

Morning! Oh, Shirl, my mouth is watering. I can't get any good bread here in the middle of nowhere. I was able to buy their version of French bread. It works when I throw a chunk in the air fryer and crisp it up.

Got to run. I said I'd work a little this morning, after I take the rig to town for propane. And that I wouldn't guarantee what time I got there lol. That said, I don't want to be working this afternoon, so I need to get a move on.

Woke up in a lot of pain this morning. My prescriptions are finally ready so will go pick them up this morning. Will take it easy today and then go to my dr appointment at 4pm. Hope the prednisone works because there is no way I could work with this pain. I hope I can get the MRI today too.

Still really windy this morning. It is loud even with the windows shut. So no hanging out outside today.

Good morning. Got up to a bit of snow o the roofs and ground this morning but mostly melted now and replaced by a very cold wind. I had to retrieve my garbage can from the street awhile ago. I’ve had a few health issues the last couple of weeks and today is a CAT scan so hope it helps solve whatever is going on. I’ve never had one so a bit nervous but I’ll just have to get through it! Beth, I love your pictures. Looks like you’ve landed in a good place to explore. Sandi, I love your art. Wish I could transfer the ideas from my brain to my hands but never been able to do that! You are very talented. Barbie, I hope you get some answers and relief from your pain. Shirl, hope your plants survived this crazy weather! As cold as it is today it’s supposed to hit 80 by next Wednesday. I’ll take it! Something to look forward to! I’m so done with this winter weather. I had my propane detector replaced last week so no more beeping. We put the old one in March of 2016 so was due to be replaced. I think I’ve figured out how Rascal can get in and out of the RV. I finally found a collapsible set of steps with deep enough steps for his size and after his reluctance to go in as soon as I set them up he went right in. Made my heart so happy! I was starting to think I’d have to cancel my travel plans but with luck he and I can have a few more adventures. So that’s about all from me. Just doing the normal spring cleanup when the weather allows and enjoying all of your adventures! Take care all and have a good day!

I picked up my boiled crawfish yesterday so that should hold me for a while. It's getting late in the season so they are big but hard to peel. You get potatoes boiled with the crawfish. I saved them and had hash browns for breakfast.

Barbie talking about her taxes reminded me that they still haven't called me. Monday it will be 4 weeks since I turned them in.

It got down to 51 last night and it hasn't warmed up much yet. At least the sun is shining and it's not raining. They are sill predicting a lot of rain for tomorrow and Saturday. I forgot to pick up Sugar's pills yesterday so better go today. I never remember everything I need to do when I go to town. I might as well pick up some flea treatment for Annie.

I got some of the vines cut on the big oak tree but the grass is tall on the other side. I decided I might better put on some boots before I go walking through the tall grass. The weed eater batteries are dead. Battery operated tools are about useless with me. I don't like to leave the batteries on the charger all the time and they are usually dead if I want to use them. My son has the electric weed eater.

I wish they had a Farmers Market day here. Some months they will set up booths in one of the squares in town but it's mostly junk instead of produce. Occasionally there will be trucks around town in vacant lots selling watermelons, oranges or sweet potatoes.

Sharon, which steps did you get for your dog? Sugar has a little trouble getting in the RV because the steps are so steep and in the truck.

Just squeezing in here by a minute, so I get to say Good Morning. Finishing up lunch and really want to head outside. Been darn chilly here past couple day, even spitting some snow in the early mornings. But warm air is on the way.

Shirl, glad the plants survived, or hope thry did. Feeling sorry for the big box stores here, because their shipments of flowers and plants came in earlier this month and this is not the time of the year For that stuff. . I was at Lowe’s yesterday and they have a lot of their plants on carts inside the building but they have more out in the garden center and everything is covered up with plastic which is the worst type of cover. Things were looking pretty droopy as our lows have going into the 20s. I got a feeling they’re going to lose some of those stock. It seems like headquarters decides that every store in the country is to get their plants at the same time regardless of what the seasons are. And every year They have to find a way to keep them alive.

Barbie, hope the doctor finds your problem. That much pain nothing to fool with. Karen, you and I seem to be on the same wave length with working in our yards. I’ve got a couple project I want to do too. Had to laugh at your remark about not needing an office. Same here, my spare room is mine I guess you could call it. Just a place to put my laptop, printer, small file cabinet etc.

I’ve wrapped up my Woodard bird project finally. Will post a pic tomorrow. Now to get outside and figure out where what’s going. First I went to clean up the branches and limbs I trimmed off my pines and cut down the rest of the dead tree. That won’t take long. Sitting here talking about it, isn’t getting it done. See ya all later.

Good Morning from chilly windy South Dakota. We had 80* weather the beginning of the month and for the last two weeks it has been cold with unrelenting wind. Sick of it. I’m ready to get outside and do some work. I have a new leaf blower/vacuum and I want to try it out. It’s city wide clean up so I did get some things on the curb for pickup. Wish I could get DH out of the house for about a week and a lot of things would disappear. He’s such a hoarder.

Been playing gardener in the house. Last summer I saved some seeds off a canna that was in a planter that DH bought for Memorial Day. Had to scarify them and soak them in water until they rooted and then planted them in peat pellets. Lo and behold all twenty that I started have shoots. I’m going to be the Canna Queen this summer! Also have some marigolds and moonflowers started. Missy always gives me all the plants I want but I just felt like doing a little farming this year! Also would feel a little guilty because I don’t have Roxy for greenhouse season.

I’m on afghan number 23 since the pandemic started. I ran out of people to make them for so I am crocheting for friends. Hey..it keeps me off the streets. Plus I can’t stand to sit and watch TV in the evening without something to do.

Well that’s my itty bitty news.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

When I set up my home office I picked the front bedroom. I'm glad I did so I can see who passes on the road. Nothing like being a nosy neighbor. lol I have a tv in here so spend most of my time here. Since I'm in here so much you would think things would be in better order but their not. The box with 2017 tax papers still needs to go to the old house so I can get the 2020 box out of the floor. At least I have started burning the oldest tax papers and reusing the box.

Went to my local WM to pick up my prescriptions and then headed to the other WM to Great Clips to have my old manager wash and cut my hair. I can't raise my arm up enough to wash it myself and I decided to cut my hair short all over so I don't have to worry about styling it either. I can always grow it back out again later if I want.

On the way home, I stopped at a farm stand and picked up some sweet corn. It is that time of year here, 4 months earlier than the midwest. Will have that for supper tonight. Yum!

I think I will take a pain pill and then a short nap. My Dr appt isn't until 4pm.

Martha, about the doggie steps. I got them on Amazon: LUFFWELL portable dog stairs for large dogs, foldable aluminum lightweight pet ramps, accordion pet ladder dog car steps. They come in different lengths so you may want to measure to see how long you’d need. I like that they fold up fairly compact so storage is easier. The only thing we did was figure a way to brace it on the RV so it didn’t tilt so it’s pretty much as straight as the house stairs. Just added a big piece of wood so I can easily move it for human access! Wish I knew how to send an actual link and photo but that seems to be beyond my pay grade!
I’m back home from the scan. Not sure why I was nervous! Really not much to it! The worst was the hour and a half of sitting around and drinking their brew! And that wasn’t near as bad as I thought it would be! I sure hope this weather changes for the better soon. It was brutal out there today. Mostly the cold wind and a few flurries! Sue, please don’t send anymore of this stuff! So now just going to hydrate and find some dinner and chill the rest of the evening!

Lark and I made the drive to the Marion County Fairgrounds this afternoon in time to meet up with Cindy and another dog show friend Teresa. They found a stretch of area behind o e of the barns that had electric for me to plug in to and. actually some for them to use tomorrow instead of hauling their generators. They just came up today early hoping to find some place to set up together somewhat near or between the two buildings we will be showing in. Part of the Covid rules for this show is that there is no grooming inside any of their buildings. The temperatures are going to be cold at night and maybe 50-60s in the day. Saturday will be the chiller as rain is expected most of the day. Pop ups take gentle rain as we all know but heavy rain and wind is not their friend..... This will be interesting. At least Jane has so little furnishings on her these days. If she gets a little damp it won’t be the disaster it might be to one of the dogs in a heavy full coat. Lark said she would keep me warm. I decided it might be a little chilly spending the weekend in the camper but I have electric and a heater. The Propane is full and the furnace is working. I have my computer and my books to read and My dogs to walk. I have a few activities I need to do and then I have a place to rest. That is about all I can manage a home. Sitting here by myself at the fairgrounds is even more peaceful. There are very few other rigs in this area and definitely no handlers with their stable of 20 dogs they put out at the break of dawn brefore breakfast. Just a nice neighbor in a Sprinter van with a couple of Golden Retrievers....

Just got back from my Dr. She said I need to be off work for 2 weeks. She said to keep moving and exercising it every day so it doesn't stiffen up but not to overdo it. Sounds like frozen shoulder on top of the impingement issue. Need to schedule the MRI. I don't think my manager is very happy with this news.

Still terribly windy out. I stopped for gas and almost got blown off my feet. My car was rocking while I was filling up. So much dust in the air! My eyes are burning! Had to post this from my phone since my Wi-Fi is not working for my laptop. Probably due to the wind.

Barbie, I'm sorry you need to be off for two weeks but I think it's important to find the cause and let yourself heal. And maybe they'll believe you when you get back that you can't work those long days, especially continuously. Get the MRI scheduled as soon as you can!

I'm really looking forward to getting past the freezing nights. Then I can quit unhooking my water every night. I can't use my tank unless I can get the tiny leak fixed because we all know even tiny leaks can cause long term major problems. I haven't found anyone local for it, so I'm not using my pump. Haha, I feel old school with a jug of water next to the toilet overnight for flushing lol. And I got a new water pressure limiter... That has to come off overnight while we're still going into freezing and be brought inside, but so far it's working and I'm not worried about my hose or lines while it's on. I was talking to the main maintenance man here and he's been trying to talk the owners into putting a limiter on the water before it gets to us. I'd love that.

Walked Ty and the other Workamper dog I walk occasionally and they both went berserk at the same time. We'd just visited my managers and were walking around the motel and they both started and pulled. One of the local cats was jumping out from a garbage in front of the motel. I wish I could have gotten a picture. It's one of the garbages with a hole about 3/4's up for trash and a lid intended for cigarette butts. Yep the cats head popped out of the hole, saw the two dogs, jumped out and ran. Good thing I had a good handle on both leashes! And that my shoulders didn't pop out of sockets. But it was funny.

so the tank that the buddy was hooked up to ran out of propane so turned on the furnace for heat later went to make hot chocolate and the burner wouldn't lite.... didn't even go outside to see if it was in the red... was really cold finally went to bed still cold and Shadow is howling (it is such a awful sound but never know for what) so finally remembered my electric throw... so went down to the couch with my throw off the bed and another one in the living room and the electric one planted Shadow on the couch put all the throws on and crawled in .... you would think Shadow would be happy to warm hmm not sure but he was crawling all over finally found a way off and did so so my thoughts was if you don't want to snuggle and be warmer I'm going back to bed so took the bed room throw and the electric throw and got into bed amazed that I could feel the heat from it but did so finally went to sleep but took sometime to do so .... woke up groggy My son in law took the tanks into town to get them filled my dd said that the company should be by to fill the larger tank but they didn't make it and I think I would have heard them even though I took a nap... so I really lived up to what I do best nothing!!!! spent the evening with family even watched an old Criminal Minds then they all went to bed guess they can't sleep in till 10 or later  it's been windy this afternoon and evening but what else is new???
have I said that I am really tired of wind??
Barbie that is too bad that you have to take that much time off but bet that it will help in the long run... will they let you go back into PT?
tomorrow I need to unpack the trailer from it's lets travel mode... plants out of the sink metal flower off the table need to figure out where to put it stuff out of the back of the truck might wait until Sat and have grandson help there...
I put water in the tank so that I wouldn't have hoses freezing... the last night in Ogden the gauge had water in the tank at empty so hooked up the water hose not sure if I didn't have it on tight enough or what but saw a lot of water running on the cement... don't see it when using the tank guess we will see when it is warm enough to run a hose and hook up to water...
I sure hope that if I get to Q this fall that next spring I can wait until later to come North!!! it's too cold for this body... :?
you all have a good day
