Good Morning on this chilly, damp and cloudy Friday here in morthrtn Michigan. The Low pressure is moving East, so we might see some sun today. It’s a slow moving system, so just a heads up to you gals out East. You may be in for a few days of damp weather. Think we are going to dry out this weekend
Irmi, we don’t have to make reservations 6 months in advance, but the RV business is booming and MI is a very popular RVing state. Since the pandemic hit, there has been an explosion in outdoor recreation here. RV’s, bicycles, kayaks and anything outdoors are hot items right now. People who are working from home now, have found they can do it from campgrounds just as well, as can families whose kids are doing online schooling. So as fast as the 6 month window opens for reserving campsites, they are snapped up like hot cakes. I was browsing the reservation site yesterday to check some of my favorite campgrounds and it’s very slim pickings. Maybe a day here and a day or two there, but otherwise full house. I did cancel a week I had booked for end of June through 4th of July n the UP though. Decided to wait for fall color season instead.
Just saw on local news that northern Michigan is outpacing the rest of the state in vaccine shots. We have 33.2 % fully vaccinated and 44.3% with first doses. The rest of the state has 28.1 fully vaccinated and 423% first dose. MI is on the fast track to reach herd immunity between Mid May and 4th of July and officially end the pandemic. They say it’s because there are more older people living “up north” isreason for more doses up here. They are still having big issues downstate with full hospitals, waiting lines at emergency rooms etc. Mostly all young people.
Tina, congrats on the dog show wins and also for you making it through the weekend. Shirl, glad you got the gardening done. Great feeling of accomplishment. And out in the fresh air too. Just read last night, where it’s estimated that people are indoors 93% of our time and only 7% is spent outdoors. Karen, I have mulch in the back of my truck too. But due to crappy weather rather than just me not getting to it. Think I will unload it today. I hear ya on the clay. We had that downstate. When it’s hard it’s hard. Here it’s all sand. Annie, if Fire season gets too smokey this year, get the heck out of there. I read that even with air purifiers going you are still inhaling fine particles and the risk for lung damage is very high. Might not notice it right away, but down the road you will. And same for Joe. He goes out, breathes it in, even in the house, gets ash particles on his paws and if he licks them, one sick dig down the line. I would be packing my trailer and leaving.
Thinking a trip to Camping World might be in store today. Want to go down and get a couple things to put my hoses and cords in and eliminate couple of plastic bins in my storage area. Right now, time to head for the shower and get the day going. Have a nice one and stay safe.
