Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday

Morning All, sun is trying to shine. Taking a trip to my favorite garden center for plants and then to Lowe’s for potting mix. Not sure if I will be able to plant the raised bed because several rainy days for the next two weeks. Spent the morning reminiscing with daughters over a picture sent to me by my cousin. I was a 17 year old bridesmaid in her wedding. Was I ever that young and even had hair. Lol. Have been feeling achy, thought it was the rainy cool weather. It dawned on me this morning it was the four easy exercises. I am so out of shape and physical therapy keeps telling I need to learn the meaning of moderation. :D Will try to walk it off today. Be safe

Morning Shirl and all to come. Just getting ready for work. I think I have one turnover and if the water is on in B building, I'll work on those cleans. Part of me says to spread them out over a couple days. Another part says get them done and try for a third day off this week. Decisions, decisions. I want to take advantage of the slow time. And Shirl, my first couple days working I was feeling it. I know how you are feeling from the exercises. Hopefully we'll both gain from it.

Off to walk Ty and head to work.

Shirl and eth, I hear ya about that getting back in physical work shape.. . When I worked doing motel housekeeping, itwas no big deal cause it was day to day, year round. But when I worked summers at the park, there was always that two weeks of physical work hump at the beginning of the season to get past. We had a 153 site campground, a Day/beach use area and other places to clear. Of leaves, limbs, branches etc. from the winter. Took at least 3 to 4 weeks of work with blowers, rakes, shovels and other equipment to clean it all out. Lus get the buildings cleaned and opened for the season. Sometimes depending on the weather, push came to shove but we always managed to do it. Was a lot of work but we had a great team.

I’m killing a little bit of time right now because I have to leave in a while for my eye appointment to have my eyes checked and get a new prescription for my glasses. Also want to talk to this doctor about the situation and if he thinks maybe I should get a second opinion. My retina specialist did 12 of these surgeries last year and all but one was successful. But I have been toying over maybe getting a second opinion from University of Michigan’s Kellogg Eye Center. They are the number one Eye Center in the state and the eighth in the country. That would involve some logistics though as it’s 4 hours away, no biggie tbere, but getting down and back might be. Cousin’s husband is having some health issues and there’s the dogs too. But will figure it out. I can drive myself no problem there. But those of you who have I exams now that when you have your eyes dilated sometimes it takes a while for things to clear up at I don’t know the area, the traffic or anything down there to have to deal with that and drive. I do have cousins in the Detroit area though. We shall see. One of the things I am questioning to myself is, should I go camping away from home or stick around cost home here. I don’t need an emergency of some kind pop up and be twohundred miles away.

As for things on the homefront here, I just cleaned my bathroom and my kitchen really good this morning and ran the vac. . Exciting Huh. Yesterday I took the dogs over to at Otsego Lake State Park and we had a nice walk around the park. I even ran into the lead ranger there, whom I used to work with when I was there. We had a nice chat and watched the other Rangers cut down a tree. Oak wilt is in the park and unfortunately they are losing trees slow but sure.

The fur kids are begging me for a WALK bad it will have to be a short one because I need to leave in an hour and a half. I can might be able to run them up the road and back. If I’m going to do that I guess we had better get going. Have a good rest of the day everyone.

Good morning gals!

Beth, did you get to Zion yesterday? Hope you can get out and explore a bit before the summer rush hits there. My nephew and his wife are at Zion now.

Last night the winds picked up and the temps were cool so I opened up all the windows before I went to bed to get some nice fresh air in the house. Actually got too cool and windy in my bedroom after awhile so I closed one of the windows. Was a great sleeping night!

Have more on my list to do today. Supposed to stay a bit cooler today. We'll see. Too windy for painting tho.

Have a good day! :D

Sue, I think I'd want a second opinion also, even if I liked the original person. You and I are both with major hearing losses and I want to protect my eyes even more so because of that. So if that would be of help, I know you'll find a way to do it.

Yes, I'm not at work. Immediately after my first message here this morning I received a text that the water was off to both buildings and could I consider a noon start. No problem. A bit ago I got a call that it's a bigger problem than expected. So I'm taking today off. Unfortunately clouds are coming in (would be good if they brought rain) but instead the winds are picking up and will be bad this afternoon.

I think I'm going to read a book now.

Barbie, I didn't go to Zion or Bryce yesterday. I did check out where I'll take the rig for propane here in Hatch. Closer and a very easy in and out compared to the one in Panguitch. Then I went to Panguitch and checked out the grocery store. It's not a bad store so I know I won't starve. Stopped in Ace hardware to pick up Dots Pretzels and the Family Dollar for a couple things.

Afternoon everyone . I had my PT neck evaluation and treatment #1 of 8, yesterday. I actually slept nearly 8 hours for first time in months without waking early with pain. It's stiff but not as painful. I'm hopeful! I did go to Curves yesterday, wearing, as always my supportive Brooks Ariels. Swelling is down some as shoes not as tight. I was able to do all exercises carefully. Today foot is more sore but less swollen each day. I know it's more sore today because I was on it more thanif a week.
Pray please for Minnesota law enforcement. My son and all offices in state are on standby for a possible blow up when trial ends. They are even worried for their families.
I'm going to get back to doing laundry and tackling small projects with breaks off my feet.
Have a good rest of your day.

I called for an appointment to get my hair cut this morning and got an appointment for 3:30. She calls me back in a few minutes and has a cancelation at 10:30. Since we have storms coming I told her I would go then. This is at 9:50 and I'm not dressed. I took a shower, got dressed and made it to town by 10:30. That might be a record for me. lol My hair was getting really wild and looks much better.

We are under a flood watch and it rained really hard for a couple of hours. Lafayette made the Weather Channel for street flooding. I'm glad I got the yard mowed yesterday. Sugar is on the back porch and acts like she is being punished but won't come in the house. I don't know why she wants to be outside when it's storming.

I need to try Shirl's exercises. I'm having trouble with my knees when I'm getting up out of a chair. I should be getting enough exercise climbing the hill and the 7 steps up to the porch. Someone wanted to buy the ramp we put in for Harold and I told them it wasn't going to be long before I was going to need it. If I have my hands full I go down the ramp instead of the stairs.

The Meetup Group I was eating out with has started scheduling meals again. Thursday they are going to a Japanese restaurant in Lafayette. I won't know what to order but I'm going.

Picked up three prescriptions, got a few things at Walmart, and then got a haircut. Lady did a very good job.

I have had people ask me if I have trouble finding medical care on the road, and I tell them that's very easy, but the hard thing is finding a good person who can cut my hair. Hard to always have to go to someone new!!

New semester is underway and got a bunch of papers to start grading. Last semester at this point, I had 51 students, but as of tonight, I have 43. Yea!!!! The other instructor who teaches the same class I do, but usually in a classroom, but now is doing two hours online and two hours on Zoom, has had her numbers going up. I told her I should tell my students at the beginning of the semester she is a good instructor and how nice she was!! Saw a movie once about a college professor who came into a packed lecture hall the first day of class. It was so crowded that students were sitting in the aisles. So she kept adding assignments to the syllabus until enough students had left. Then she told remaining students to ignore everything she had just said about the extra assignments!

Velda, I was just emailing with my SIL and she is worried too about my nephew who is a deputy in Mankato, MN. If the jury doesn't throw the book at that cop, the whole country will explode in violence. :o I would hate to be on that jury.

I went to give a haircut to the lady in the park. I wore my mask and we did the haircut outside on her deck. She is very sweet. She had a stroke awhile back so she has a little trouble speaking (mostly just finding the right words). We did have a good conversation tho. She told me that after she had her stroke, her kids came and took her dog away because they didn't think she could care for it anymore. She was devastated. She wants to get another dog.

It has been extremely windy today, with gusts up to 60 mph! Lots of dust and sand blowing around! Some roads are closed because of sand covering over them. The plows are out clearing them. There is a high profile alert on the freeways. Will be windy continuing thru tomorrow. The temps are around 75 today tho, so is much cooler than it has been.

CA has suspended the J&J vaccine until further notice due to potential blood clots.

I ordered a couple of sun dresses and got those today. They fit good, are cute, and even have pockets! I usually don't wear dresses but figured they would be cooler to wear in the summer heat here.

I knew it!!!

Around 2:30 this afternoon I felt 2 quick jolts and immediately thought earthquake. I got on-line to the CA earthquake site to see for sure. Nothing was listed. Updated the site several times over a half hour and still nothing. I couldn't imagine what else it could be tho. I think I need to find a better website.

Then just now on the news they said there was a 3.5 earthquake at 2:30 today just a few miles from me! I knew I wasn't imagining it.

That's a shame that the family took the lady's dog. If she can live by herself and take care of herself she should be able to take care of a pet. It would probably help her to have the company.

I'm glad I took the early hair appointment. I saw a picture of street flooding in town. My rain gauge has 3 inches. Most of the rain has moved off but the wind has picked up.

you should post before and after pictures Martha...
mentioning hair cuts I ought to see if my dd can get me an appointment. don't have the gals phone number assuming she is still cutting hair I just know that she isn't on FB anymore... but then not sure when I'd be able to go out to her house...
perhaps next trip whenever that will be and my hair will be even worse...
pretty much stuck at home although my friend and I went to lunch it was a very late lunch so didn't even think of supper and now I realize that I am hungry... will enjoy a cup of hot chocolate later, son in law took me to get propane... filled a empty 7 gal one and topped off the other 7 gal one... so the buddy is up and running yea it's cold and windy very windy here... so tired of the wind... I was surprised at the number of rigs that left this morning from the park as windy as it is... but then I guess they aren't wusses !!!
I think I would get a 2nd opinion Sue ... in Utah there is a really good shuttle bus system that travels a long ways you can get on it in Rexburg Idaho and go as far as Vegas from Idaho Falls to SLC it is I think 39 dollars although it's been a very long time since I've looked at the rates.... perhaps you have something of that nature there and could do public transportation doesn't help with the dogs though or take the rig and stay in a campground over night or perhaps the clinic will allow camping there given the circumstances if you talked with them ahead of time...
might need to turn the heater up a bit but Shadow is really close to it so not sure I will do that well his tail is close to it he has turned around so his head is the other way...
glad your foot is starting to feel better Velda
when I took the truck in for it's over all check and oil change I mentioned that I could smell something that smelled like it was over heating but according to the gauges I wasn't over hot... turned out that the calipers in the rear brakes were bad spewing oil all over... hmmm shall we say that prayer's are answered??? so without the truck tomorrow perhaps into Thurs... they mentioned something else don't remember what it was... just what I needed a big bill one day I hope I can go in and just have the oil changed... but it is a relieve to know that the tranny is good ect

Sheila, there is no such thing as being a wuss when it comes to wind and RV's. Better to be overly cautious than to take a chance and have an accident.

Barbie, I totally agree. Our winds were mid 20's with gusts 40 to 50 today when I walked Ty and almost went over a few times when the gusts hit. And I watched a man hook up his trailer and pull out. Nothing would have got me leaving today. So Sheila, please continue doing as you do.
