Good Morning Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Good Morning Thursday

Postby Colliemom » Thu Apr 08, 2021 7:07 am

Good Morning everyone. This week is flying by. There has been so much going on for me, can’t keep track of it all  You know those everything happens at the same time scenerios.

Yesterday was carpet installation day. He did a great job and even unhooked and rebooked up all the cables etc. to my TV, modem, WiFI router etc., swept the floor before installing the new padding and vacumed when it was all done. I love the new look. Was way overdue. I think the carpet that was in here was the original carpet from when this house was first built back in 1993.

Before he came, the dentist office called to let me know they had some openings for today, if I wanted to come in. Don’t wanna, but I am. I cancelled March’s appt., because it was too close to what was supposed to have been my eye surgery date. Then yesterday afternoon, Lowe’s called to say my new countertops are ready, so should be hearing from my installer within next two days. Everybody’s after my checkbook this week,

Resd yesterdsy about some of you carrying cell phones or life alerts. I have a great waist band belt with zippers, that carries a lot of things and nobody even knows you have it on. It’s called a Fusion belt. Here’s the link, http://www.fusionbelts.com. I love mine. Hands free, wallet, keys, cell phone out of sight. Great for walks, shopping, camping etc. you don’t even know you are wearing it. Planning to order a 2nd one.

Need to head for the shower, wash my hair, make a copy of my vaccine card for dentist office to put in my records etc. Have a grest day

Sue, sounds like your place is gonna really look nice when it is all done! Then what will you do? I just bought a belt thing like you have. It is like a flat fanny pack. Just fits a phone, cash, and a few credit cards or ID. I thought it would be good for taking on hikes.

I am back to square one. Woke up running to the bathroom again this morning. Since I only have a 4 hour shift today and still feel crampy, I asked my manager if it was OK if I don't come in and she said sure. Good thing I have my physical tomorrow so maybe get to the bottom of this (no pun intended! :o ).

Going back to bed for awhile...

Afternoon All, a beautiful day and that is the only nice thing I have to say. Yesterday was a disaster and today not great so far. Was not going to post because I only had complaints and feeling old. Then cut myself some slack and thought that I should remind everyone that as we age we don’t switch gears as fast as we use to. Yesterday taking suv for recall, emptied everything someone might steal including gps. Haven’t been to dealership for 3 years. Drove to Annapolis, the right area and it was like someone had placed a city in the spot. I had no idea where I was going. There were high rise buildings, streets had been rerouted, etc. Of course the bay bridge was backed up, from 3 lanes down to 1, that upset me. Rode around trying to find somewhere to park to use cell. So rattled I couldn’t find dealership on cell called daughter got their phone number. Called dealership service, message said leave a message, called sales explained, she transferred me and service said leave a message. I felt panicked, going to be late, didn’t know where to go. Wait a minute ! Called service messaging and said I’m stuck in traffic cancell my appointment. They should answer their d$#&* phone. Ten years ago that would have irritated me but not upset me. Today have Walmart pickup order and doctors appointment. I can do both because Walmart is never late, not. Walmart system down. I didn’t panic, said “plan B” and felt better. Will be kind to Shirl. Will never remove gps from car again. :D be safe

Good afternoon Sue, Barbie & Shirl,

Shirl, I hear you on the Annapolis area and Bay Bridge. That area is always the last leg of our trip on the way home from FL and I actually despise it. It ruins the entire trip and we're at the point that hopefully after this summer, we may never return. Now that my parents, sister & brother are gone, there's really nothing to come home for. We're going to take the pictures and personal possessions from our home that we want to keep in the casita and will sell or trash everything else with hopes to sell the house. I hope today goes better for you.

Shirl (((hugs))). I have had a lot of days like that, where I get so frustrated I just want to scream and cry, and usually do both! I have gone places without my GPS and gotten so lost! What did we ever do before GPS?? :? A long nap usually helps or sometimes a whole day off.

Because we broke some sales/customer records at our shop this past year, we earned a $400 bonus. The catch is that we have to use it for a dinner out as a group. Well, there are only 5 of us so that means we have to go to an expensive restaurant. Whatever we don't spend of the money, we lose. He won't just give us the cash. So my manager is planning for us to go out next Sunday after work. The places she has suggested for us to decided on have very little if anything I like to eat. I am pretty fussy and do not eat any kind of fish or seafood so that is out. (the first suggestion was a sushi place! ). I checked out the menus of the different places and some I can't even identify what the menu items are. I could order a steak at a couple of them. One was a Mexican place and the only thing I will order there is a cheese quesadilla which is about $12. I suggested a place that has a little lower prices but a large varied menu for all of us. but so far I haven't gotten a response. (she did suggest that place to go to afterward to play pool). The whole idea is crazy to me. We all could use the money over the expensive food but the owner won't agree to that.

I slept until 1pm! Feeling better. I need to go out to WM and Home Depot so I better get going on that.

Barbie's efforts to eliminate pills she takes has made me think of things I should do to try to figure out my irritable bowel disease. I was diagnosed about 12 years ago, but was able to control it until recently by eating small meals all day. (Except I did have major problems when i went to the UK three years ago. Lost 20 pounds in 6 weeks there because i had trouble eating smaller meals and ended up skipping breakfast a lot. Gained most of weight back right away.) I became worse after I had a bout with acute pancreatitis around then and spent 17 days in the hospital.

Eating smaller meals has meant that I have lost 40 pounds over the last 9 years--very evenly losing about 5 pounds a year--not much but it added up. And this is not by dieting at all.

Except in the last few months, I have been hungry most of the time and have had trouble eating small meals, especially in the evening. I have lost four pounds in the last 6 weeks. I want to lose weight, but not this way. So night before last, I had problems after drinking milk in the middle of the night which I often do to settle my stomach. Immediately had problems, so I am going to skip milk for next week and see if it helps. I am also going to work more on spreading my meals out more.

This morning, I heated up one of those frozen breakfast sandwiches just before I left one campground and drove to the another one. I nibbled at the sandwich for over an hour and ate about half of it, along with maybe 5 ounces of orange juice over a couple of hours, but ended up in the bathroom again!!! Hard to eat slowly when you are hungry. Anyway, going to try to experiment. I do have an appointment with a new gastroenterologist in late June. I want him to check my pancreatic numbers and help me manage this disease.

Sounds like a lot of frustrations and tummy problems, too. I've always had to watch what I eat or find myself running to the potty. Just taking my vitamins can do it sometimes. Those I won't quit but now I hold off on my morning ones until I know I have food in my stomach. And I know certain foods to skip, bit sometimes cheat and have no one to blame except myself. Then sometimes I have no clue why it rears it's ugly head.

I put in a straight 5 hours in housekeeping today. I knew I was out of shape. Hopefully this will get me in better shape. I need it.

Shirl, I hate driving through busy cities anymore. I'd have been cussing also.

Shirl, sorry you had such an unpleasant experience. I can definitely relate.

Say, I don't know what kind of a smart phone that you have, but if you are able to access the internet on your phone, next time try loading the Google Maps app before you set out.

I don't have a GPS, but if I put in my starting point and my destination (on my phone using Google Maps) a sweet young voice comes on and tells me where to go.

Er, not there, but she does speak clear directions as I drive, and gets me to my destination every time.

When using my phone this way, I always be sure to have my phone plugged into a car jack so that it doesn't run out of battery while I am driving.

Google Maps has been a life saver! Anyone else here use Google Maps?

Good luck!

Anne, I use Google maps almost exclusively. My stand alone gps is just collecting dust somewhere.

I also use my phone. I especially like that she will redirect me if there is an long delay or accident up ahead. I use it even if I already know the route for that reason. I have her speak to me in an Aussie accent just for fun.....

I have an Apple phone but only use it to text, take pictures and phone calls. The screen is small and my eyesight is old. The Garmin gps is old too but has a big screen and serves my purpose since I don’t travel far from home. My family uses their phones for driving except my son who says computers are things of the devil.

I use my iPhone maps, putting address in and choosing from suggested routes plus it recalculates if I deviate from its chosen route. That's why I got the huge iPhone xsmax in 2019. My old Magellan gps was aging out (got it in 2009!), and my iPhone 5s was nearly 6 years old. I evaluated and decided instead of paying several hundred for a separate gps, I'd put extra into my new phone, maxing both size and memory. I plan to keep it 2-3 more years, so paying cash amd dividing by 4 or 5 years, made it reasonable choice. It worked great on my 2019 trips as it does around town for routes and traffic.
