And it’s Really Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

And it’s Really Wednesday

Morning. Sorry for the Day mix up yesterday   , but now we are on the right day  This week has been very busy for me. A lot going on. Monday with doc appt., then off to get second shot, grocery shopping and errands. Yesterday I went to car dealer and had a replacement step pad put on my trucks assist steps, as one came off somehow over late winter. Fast run to Walmart and home. Got a call from carpet place that thry could come out this morning and install new carpet :D , so moved stuff out of my living room, have couple things to no Pve this morning, like the chair I8: sitting in right now, Thty will be here around 9.

Thanks for your kind words of encouragement regarding my eye situation. One of those difficult things life throws at us. And yes Peggy, you are right about camping etc. there are other ways. As to trailer towing and backing up, I’ve never has a problem with backing up. Practice makes perfect as They say and over the years I have done enough of it, backing into campsites. But I’ve also been thinking over past year or so about getting tired of towing. Think it’s because I spend more time just driving without anything back there, that I love the freedom of it. P,lus, like Karen said, campgrounds are getting more crowded and harder to get into and I don’t like having to make reservations months ahead, other than if it’s trip where I’m traveling multiple places and want the security of knowing my next stop is waiting for me. I’m getting content here at home and taking those little day trips too. When it boils down to it, I live in an area where people come to vacation. This county has 80 lakes and the headwaters of 5 rivers. I have 8 lakes within @about 3 miles of my house including the small on across the road in this subdivision. Great places to kayak. I have enough miles of trails and roads to walk on and a stretch of the Iron Bell trail, a bike/hiking trail running from Detroit to Ironwood in the far western Upper Peninsula, right across the highway over here. With interconnecting trails branching out to east and west. It will be, once totally complete, over 2,000 miles, the longest contingent bike/hike trail in the U.S. plus Lake Huron and Lake Michigan are an hour to hour and a half drive East and west from here, an tge U.P. An hour to the north. Plenty to let one keep busy enjoying the outdoors.

Gotta get moving here. Things to move and need to get dressed for the day. Have a good one all.

Hi Everyone! Just had to chime in to Sue and any others who are potentially facing the hanging up the keys decision at some point. Many of you know how this forum encouraged me to continue the travel journey after my hubby died. I traded in the huge Class A and settled on a cute Class C I called Flitter. After a few years, I realized old age was catching up, our old friend Arthur made my hips and back worse as time went on and it was getting very hard to climb up and down, in and out, leveling and hooking up. Eventually I threw in the sponge and reluctantly traded her for a Pleasure Way I called Serendipity. I started thinking again that this was getting to be too much over 2 years ago. Hard to realize I got so old, so fast, but I had another 12 or 13 years of solo Rving. Just before the pandemic, I realized that every time I went camping I wound up crying at some point: the water hookup would leak, my hand strength wouldn't remove the sewer cap and that, too, often leaked. The scrunching down, getting up, over and over would bring me to tears. The walking any distance to clubhouses, pools, etc. became difficult. My GS camping chapter started going further and further away and I discovered that after 1 hour of driving I was so-o-o ready to stop! Many RV sites here in CA jumped to around $60-65 a night and reservations often hard to come by. So I sold Sere - reluctantly. But it was time. I knew someday that decision would have to be made and I'm sure those of you who will face the same decision will know when the time is right. You may, like I did, fight the decision, but in your heart you will know.

Now I follow all of the travels from those of you who are still on the road, I welcome you younger gals who are just entering into this wonderful lifestyle, and enjoy reading about the routines of those of you who no longer head on down the road. When our world opens up again there may be other travel options or opportunities. In the meantime, safe travels everyone.

Morning All, another nice day on the shore. Evie, I made the hard decision too. For me I had an old Rv and a old house and not enough money for either. Life is ever changing and we just have to adapt. It does get better. Luckily as we age the bar is lower. Lol. Need to take the suv for recall inspection. Be safe

I love traveling most without a toad, always have. And after I stop workamping I'd love a van camper/B, but they are so expensive, especially right now. Actually, I'm shocked at what people are getting for used RV's right now. Hopefully this will change in a year or two as some of the millions buying hastily now decide to sell. Yes, I'm hoping so. It will determine how I'll travel, for sure. Evie, I hope I can follow in your footsteps and continue but realize when it's time to stop. You also Shirl. And Lyn.

I worked all of one hour today. It was pretty much orientation. I am quite pleased with the motel rooms. They are very nice. Linens are delivered and should arrive today, so tomorrow I'll start cleaning rooms in preparation of guests arriving.

I think I'll take a ride into Panguitch this afternoon. It's the closest real town to here and I'd like to see what's there.

Not much going on here. I finally pulled the Ficus tree out of the old house. I'm glad I got a furniture dolly to move it. I'm not sure the Bougainvillea is going to make it. It's looking pretty sad. I finally remembered to get the bulbs I got at the campout out of the camper. It's two caladium bulbs. Now to figure out where to plant them.

Yesterday I went and got the truck inspected. My reward for finally doing that was lunch at the Riverfront. I love their shrimp salad stuffed avocado. I checked the other vehicles and the next will be the camper in August. Last year when I was coming back from a trip I stopped to get it inspected and he only had one year stickers. I went ahead and got one for one year since I was already there.

After my last 250 mile trip I'm not wanting to do long trips. If my sister didn't camp with me sometimes I would like to downsize to a van. She called me last night and wants to go to the lake so guess we are going to the lake tomorrow. There is suppose to be a storm coming through tonight. It might not be bad here but it is for sure going through the campground we go to. I don't like to be under all those big tall pine trees when it storms. Since the two hurricanes last year it doesn't take much to take down trees now.

I want to go to Lafayette to pick up a TV at my son's. I bought the TV to take to the camp but have been using it when I would evacuate for a hurricane. The noon news reported that the highway to Lafayette is closed because of a gas leak. Now I have to figure out what roads to take to miss the road closure.

I still want to travel when I can once I retire. There are a lot of places I want to see yet. I don't want to worry about towing a trailer so that is why I am looking into a van, even if I have to fix up a conversion van to sleep in. I can just get in and go, and be able to park anywhere. I will have the option to either stay at a campground, boondock for a couple days or just stay at a motel if I choose. Want it to keep it simple. Also with a van, I can take my kayak with me. I can't put it on the roof anymore with my messed up shoulder.

Prices for RV's, etc are thru the roof right now. I keep just looking to see what is out there and everything is way overpriced and still goes quickly. Anything in my price range is junk. Hopefully, in a year or two, prices will come down and there will be a lot more to choose from and my budget will be higher as well.

I worked today with the "boys". That got pretty stressful. At one point we were all sitting around very quietly when a guy came in for a haircut. It was actually my turn to do a haircut but Jaz got up and said "I got this one". I figured it was one of his regulars so I didn't get up. Steve got up and went over to check the guy in, printed out his haircut notes and turned to hand it to me, but Steve grabbed it and took the guy to his chair. I didn't think it was a big deal but Steve got really pissed off. He came over to me and said he was ready to "lose it". I told him that if he said anything or started a fight, I would leave, and he needed to settle down. I went into the break room and texted the manager about what was going on. She said the owner was in town and was stopping in. Meanwhile, I talked to Jaz privately, and said that if anything happens between them, I will leave. He asked what I was talking about. I think what he did with the haircut earlier was his way to push some buttons. Anyways, the owner showed up awhile later and they were both on their best behavior. No issues the rest of the day. But the tension was thick enough to cut with a knife! I hope I don't have to go thru that again.

We had one guy come in wearing a mask and when he sat down, he took off his mask. Jaz asked him to put it back on which he did but a few seconds later he got up and said he was leaving and going to find a barber who doesn't require a mask. Good luck with that! Masks are still mandatory all over out here. I had to ask one of Steve's customers to put his mask back on.

Still hot and very windy here with no end in sight. I need one or two calm, cooler days to finish painting the trim at least on the front of the house and put up my new table and umbrella.

I have a short shift tomorrow and am off at 2pm so will have a little extra time to get some things done before it gets dark later. I have Friday off and have my annual physical in the morning. Then having lunch after noon with my friend Cindy.

I think I figured out what supplement was causing my problem. I was taking a vitamin D and K supplement (which I didn't have any problem with), and then recently switched to one that has vitamin A included. I skipped that one last night and had no problem this morning. :D I will go back to just the D & K.

I picked up spaghetti yesterday at my favorite Italian place. It is so good! One order gives me about 5 portions!

Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

when I got up this morning I called one of the tire places in town to see if I could pull in and have the pressure on the tires check sure may have to wait but come on in so I did so he started checking the tires and came up and said he hoped my trip wasn't a long one I replied up to Idaho he said he wouldn't do it with the tires on the 5th wheel... so 4 new tires and a used one to replace the 15 year old spare that had never been used... I was on the road about 2:30 to kill time while he worked on the tires I called my friend and she came and got us and we played a game of Skip Bo enjoy that game... got stomped but nothing else is new with that :o
got here to Needles around 5 ish plugged in decided I wasn't going to hook up water have plenty but thought that the electricity wasn't very good then decided that the meter thing wasn't working right I switched over the fridge to electricity took a nap 25 min one then realized that the panel was showing orange so switched the fridge to gas called to see what was going on she thought at first that too many people using to much but suggested that I go out and see if it''s spinning well no it wasn't so called back guess I didn't flip the switch or something cause I now have a good showing on the panel haven't switched over though...
really ought to go find something to eat but it's hot so nothing hot please,... need to think through my options
I would like to find something smaller to travel in have this somewhere to come home to but don't know if that will happen even though it will be paid for in a few months not sure I want a new expense some day I want to purchase something down in Q I love the desert but I am getting to where the creature comforts sound good as well
you see all sorts of RV's in Q I've noticed this one even thought of taking a picture of it but then didn't I believe that it was a school bus conversion... with a upper level and a deck awning and a tow vehicle painted the same color.....purple
I actually would have liked to have a tour of it.... but not by myself
good to hear from you Evie
I think some time in the future my 3 daughter and I will share a home for what ever time I am home we will have to ponder it a bit more...
I don't know if it's my prescription or the cataracts but I sure don't see as well... wish right now that I had a driver
am considering going to Overton instead of through Vegas as it would be fewer cars on it but it's also narrower road and curvier but mostly down hill need to look on maps see what I can discover
you all take care
