Thank you for the lovely Easter card, Sue.

This morning I find myself, a bit oddly, missing my Mom and Dad. Even feeling a bit weepy.

I saw your card just as I was thinking of them, and remembering the beautiful Easter holidays our family celebrated when I was a young child. I can see and hear, in my mind's eye, my mother up early in the kitchen stirring around, getting ready to prepare a big ham for our Easter dinner.

And the Easter baskets, lined up in a row, on the kitchen counter for each of us, filled with candy eggs and a big chocolate bunny in the middle, waiting for us to wake up and find them on Easter morning.

It also brought to mind the Easter holidays I joyfully celebrated with my own young children, so impossibly long ago.

Time certainly passes, whether we wish it or no.

Happy Easter, everyone.

Good morning gals and Happy Easter! :D

Still having some bathroom issues, both yesterday morning and again this morning. Just can't pin it on anything specific now. Feel fine otherwise.

Am waiting for our Easter church service to start at 10am on-line. Then will throw the ham in the oven and make the potatoes. Need to do some cleaning around here as well. We have been so busy at work that when I get home I have no energy to do anything so it all piles up for my days off.

There have been some fairly large parties here in the park lately with no masks or social distancing. Not all of us have had one or both shots and I believe the park is still under restrictions. So I sent an email to the general manager of the park asking her what is going on.

I hope you all have a wonderful day however you celebrate!

Happy Easter everyone!

Sue, thank you for the nice card.

We had a full church this morning and I played and the congregation sang the Lord's Prayer for the first time instead of saying it. It was awesome! I was asked if we could do that every Sunday and we certainly will try.

It'll just be the two of us for Easter dinner, which will be a spiral ham, home made macaroni & cheese, a green bean & tomato salad and devilled eggs. Nothing fancy but it'll be good. We have friends coming tomorrow for the afternoon so I need to prepare a meal for the four of us.

Have a wonderful Easter friends!

Happy Easter!

Thanks for the card, Sue.

Yes, Anne, time passes whether we like it or not. Just need to go with the flow & live in the moment.

I decided it was time to attend sunrise Mass this morning in person. I've had both shots & it was held outside. What a lovely start to the day. Not terribly cold & the darkness of the night gave way to the rising sun in perfect synchronization to the service along with birds chirping & flying overhead occasionally. This was the first in-person service I've attended since last year. Really missed it. Made Easter this year more special than ever.

My son invited me over for breakfast but I'm enjoying a down day so told them I'd see them tomorrow morning when I pick up my little guy. They're celebrating Easter at DIL's parent's house. Getting my house in order since my eldest daughter from TX is arriving Thusday evening for the weekend. She hasn't met Jordi yet so he & Olivia will be the focus of our time - plus a visit to the beach, of course.

Weather's going to be great here - low to mid 70's most of the week. Gotta love it!

Hope you all have a wonderful day.
Take care,
Catherine

Well, my Easter dinner might be delayed. I turned on the oven to preheat it and a couple minutes later, my propane alarm started beeping! The pilot light didn't light. So now I have windows open and the ceiling fan on for a bit. Never mind that it is already in the mid 90's outside! I might try again later, carefully. Of course I forgot to turn the AC on in the living room this morning so it was 90 in here (been in my bedroom on-line all morning with the AC on in there). Oh well, if I have to have a PB&J sandwich, that is OK too. :D

Catherine, I bet that was pretty watching the sun come up during the service! Have a great time with your daughter next weekend!

I think I will call my brother today. Haven't talked to him for awhile. Hoping I can go visit them in Tucson after I get my second shot.

I think it is safe to close the windows again. I can do the potatoes in the microwave so maybe I will start with that. I am getting hungry! Already had the pie for breakfast! Guess my Easter dinner will be completely out of order this year!

on edit: not doing potatoes either, I don't have any milk. So plan "C"...fried rice with Yum Yum sauce. The Easter bunny is pulling a late April Fools joke on me today!

Barbie, the best laid plans. I have lived in this apartment two years and they have replaced the battery in the kitchen smoke detector ten times. It happens when I am searing meat, frying a hamburger, etc. I run around like a nut doing the smoke dance. The detector light is red, I send a request to maintenance and they promptly come replace the battery. I have been nice, joked. Not anymore, today was my last nerve. I have mentioned nicely in the past that the detector needs to be replaced but have been ignored. What does a woman know. Grrrr It also hurts my pride that the neighbors probably think I am a doddering old woman who doesn’t know how to cook. Sorry to rant on Easter Sunday.

Shirl, is your smoke detector hard wired? This modular home came with the smoke detectors hard wired and they were forever going off. I finally started replacing them with battery only detectors. Most of them have an expiration date and need to be replaced. Maybe someone in your family can replace it. I have ladders so I can do it myself but I'm sure it's dangerous for me to be on a ladder. This house isn't very big and there are 5 detectors. Some are so close together that I can't tell which one is beeping.

I cooked the pork roast in the slow cooker. It was ok but I think I like them cooked in the oven better. I think I will put BBQ sauce on part of it and make pulled pork.

The weather was beautiful and I should have gone fishing. Didn't do much except cook and run the Roomba.

Martha, they are hard wired but it’s an apartment and I can’t replace safety equipment. You bring up a good point. I will ask maintenance if they would replace with battery operated detector and relocate it farther away from stove. The living space is like a cave, no windows in the kitchen area so heat is bottled there. I don’t have smoking flaming fry pans it’s heat.

I had to move the location of a smoke alarm once, everything set it off. A few feet away and it was fine. Mine in my last rv also was poorly located. This rv is fine and has never gone off. Just something else to ask them to consider. (Shirl, you posted before me, so you can ignore this lol)

I had a beautiful drive today. Didn't rush at all. Less crazy drivers which was nice also. I wanted to stay on some blm land tonight, but didn't want to go 30 miles out of town (even in the direction I'm headed) and find out it's closed right now. So I am at a Walmart. Legally. I'd love this area to have an affordable rv park with hookups. There's so much to see and do here and I always just manage one thing when I come through. With the right weather, there's a beautiful CG, but most sites are without services and still $20 or more per night. I still considered it, but didn't want to drive 10 plus miles one way to it for one night when I wouldn't get to enjoy it. Yes, I'm picky. I did a lot of thinking while driving today about my future RVing. Nothing will probably change much in the next couple years, but I have ideas. Scary, eh? LOL

Barbie, for the first time since I've been RVing, I knocked and somehow turned the knob for one of my stove burners, unknowingly. I was in and out of here. Came back in and could smell it and the detector went off at the same time. It took me a minute to discover the problem. I mean, how did I manage to push the knob in and turn it? No clue, but I fixed it and aired the place out and all is well with the world. I hope you got your oven working.

My exciting Easter dinner was jalapeno bread toasted and slathered with guacamole dip. It was a treat! And easy after having been on the road. I had a list of 3 items to purchase in Walmart. I did pretty good as I came out with only 6.

It's hot here. I've turned on the generator for awhile a couple times to run the AC. I'll probably do so again in awhile just to cool is off again quickly as it cools off outside.

Beth, a week after I plugged in my detector , I heard it beeping and went to check it out. Apparently, when I put something in the overhead microwave, I leaned on the stove knob and accidentally turned it on. I was glad I had that detector! Glad again today for that.

Each semester, my students have to give two short presentations that are recorded on Zoom. I have to go through them all, make comments, and give them each a grade. Well, twice the following has happened:

- Smoke alarm goes off while I am listening to a presentation. Beep. And another Beeeeep. Darn! Hope I have the right battery.
- So I stop listening and try to figure out which of my detectors is making the noise. No beep. Wait a little longer and turn recording back on. Beeeeep.
- Stop listening and try to figure out location of noise again. No beep.
- Finally, figure out that the beep is on the student's recording!!!! Add a note to student in comments area that she/he needs to change the battery in their smoke alarm before the next presentation is due!!!

This has happened twice to me!! I sent the recording to a couple of other instructors who had a chuckle over it.

Hot today, but mostly stayed inside. I am really being lazy the past couple of weeks. Class does not start until tomorrow, and no papers due for a week. Have a slight headache, so took more tylenol tonight.

We had an expensive lesson on new laws regarding smoke detectors when we had a new heating system installed maybe 8 or 9 years ago. Heating/AC systems require a permit. To get the permit signed off requires inspection by city. Any work requiring a permit, now requires the inspector to check installation of one smoke/gas detector per bedroom, plus in hall amd on each level including basement, and all must be interconnected so if one goes off, they all go off. Follows federal building code which is in state code. Previous we had one detector hard wired with battery backup in hall on main floor, none in basement. So we had to pay $1500 to have a licensed contractor install one per bedroom, one in basement, plus replace the one in hall and run wiring between all! Yes about once a year we have to replace backup battery, but at least we can tell which is beeping and we have batteries ready for all as they usually go off one after the next. Amd that $1500 came as a last minute surprise after heat/AC was installed! Not a happy surprise, but no install, no approval of permit!
