Last Friday of March

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last Friday of March

Postby Colliemom » Fri Mar 26, 2021 6:33 am

Good Morning. Don’t know where this week has gone, but it’s almost over. But with errand runs, cleaning house, walking dogs, little craft work, visiting with snowbird neighbor who just returned home etc. among other things, time does fly. One more week and I get my 2nd vaccine shot and none too soon, as cases are rising again. Schools have shut down both in person and online learning for rest of week due to students, stsff etc. being sick. Spring break starts this weekend, so hopefully that will help get things settled down and they can return to school the day after Easter.

Thinking of Sarah this morning and hope she came through the storms with no damage. She did mention that her garage was flooding yesterday on FB though. Also thinking of a former forum member Wendy, whom some of you may remember and lives in the Birmingham area. Tornadoes all around there.

I too think a lot about losing friends and family as time goes on. Just lost my best friends last month when he passed away and she has relocated, though we do keep in touch via phone. I see a lot of familiar names in our local paper too of people whom I knew or names I know from church or elsewhere. At least we have each other on here.

Beth, hope your headache is gone this morning. Weather alert for you gals out East, more rain and wind coming, May even some mixed precip. And cooler temps. We were supposed to have a trace to 2 inches of snow and possibly freezing rain overnight into this morning, but it just slipped by. Little bit of mix out there, but not really much of that either. Moving out.

Nothing much on agenda today other than running the vac and working in crafts. Will be a dog walk later of course and a trip to town to pick up fish dinner from church. Last one for this Lenten season.

The scary part of Spring Break is knowing that many of the students and staff will travel over the break and not always in a responsible manner. My daughter is feeling very grateful that she was able to get her second vaccine done a week before her students come back from their break.

And Sue realize that some of those individuals that no longer post here do still drop by and read regularly but then when I was down for the count over the winter I unfollowed so many individuals on FaceBook, I just didn't have the energy even to read.

Another acupuncture appointment today. Chiropractor adjustment wasn't doing much but I think the acupuncture treatments are changing things in a good way. Yesterday I was able to sit at the grooming table long enough to Dremel Audrey's and Jane's nails but ran out of energy before getting to Lark. She was not at all disappointed at being left out of that party. So I am hoping that I will be able to Dremel Lark's nails this afternoon and take a pound of winter hair off her coat before my body sends me back to the couch.

And yes ladies to the west, we heard your winds blow and whine throughout the night. I wondering if the vehicles would have more cracks in their windshields or if the fence would be knocked down in places but so far so good. No escaped dogs at least.

Good morning Sue and Tina and all who follow, Drizzle and cloudy this morning, but yesterday afternoon was fantastic.. sunny and 73*. Yesterday was a marker day for me. I met two of my Roadtrek buddies and had lunch at the Red Lobster. (All fully vaccinated). I felt like a groundhog emerging from a hole! AND I rebooked my flight to Tahiti for September. A friend and I are taking a cargo/cruise ship around French Polynesia. The trip was supposed to happen last fall, but it got postponed. Truly hoping we can make the trip this year. As people have commented, we are running out of time.... Enjoy today Peggy

Morning All, serious wind predicted for the shore today. I moved the fragile plants away from the front of the balcony and brought the wind chime inside. A good thing when you can move your garden out of harms way. Lol Monday will be my 2 weeks after second vaccine so another milestone in the fight. Households chores today and a package at porch friend so will need to battle the wind. Tina, glad you are making progress. Naps are a good thing. I’m not on Facebook so if there is news about our southern friends hope someone will post. Sue, a fish dinner sound good. Be safe

Good morning Sue, Shirl, Peggy, Tina, and all who follow. Another sunny day in northern California and we are headed into 70's and later in weekend and week into 80's! Not ready for warm weather ! Been thinking about all those in storm zones and praying all are ok.
My neck arthritis is acting up and I'm not sleeping as well as I should, so very glad I have chiropractor appointment this afternoon. Might ask about acupuncture as well, as they have a really good Dr there who does that. I'm pretty sure my overnight pain is affecting my morning BP as its higher when my pain level is higher.
I will head to Curves at noon, then come home and get showered for chiropractor. We got the recycling of cans and bottles done yesterday, finally and son collected $27 in refunds from about six months of his soda and juice habits. That cleared the stack on porch! I still have a stack of Amazon boxes to cut to flatten then take to park where city cardboard recycle place is, and I hope to get that done later today.
Sean, the handyman has the lower front deck stained/sealed. Sure looks better. Upper one will be soon, which will leave us having to use basement entrance for a afternoon and evening, while deck dries. Mel had painted with a opaque stain and went too heavy so it's peeled/worn off in many high traffic areas. Hopefully once sanded and stained/sealed it will last better. I like the new color better than the orangey color Mel chose (which did not really match the samples for it)!
I'm still trying to clear the surface of Mel's desk. There are hundreds of old 3.5 in disks and CDs to sort through, making sure any photos or stuff he wrote aren't discarded, but I think it's mostly old software. Chris has a external drive for each of those formats, so, if in doubt we can take a look. My head computer tech saved so very much stuff on disk and CD! I want to set the desk up for stamping and watercolor stamping. Mel's old very heavy 17 in monitor is taking up about a third of the surface, but I'll need help carrying it out. Boy the old monitors are huge even though screens are so small, compared to today's .
Well, I better get going and get my morning chores done. Hope our members in bad weather areas check in so we know they are ok.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Hello again, twice in one day, oh my! I just heard from Sarah in Huntsville. Just a few tree branches down and water in her garage. Shevsaid Wendy is okay. The storm missed her neighbor in Birmingham. I’m not on Facebook either, Shirl

Windy and cold in southern New Mexico. I am getting really tired of the wind and cold, but at least I have a little free time for the next couple of weeks to do some indoor relaxing. And Wednesday is my second COVID shot, so looking forward to that. I have been running my little electric heater all night and most of the day, but still need the furnace in the back in the night. Looks like whole west is unusually cold.

Peggy, I think I know the ship you are taking. It is something I have wanted to do for at least 25 years, but just can't afford it now, assuming I am going to Scotland and Yorkshire again next spring.

Ordered some things from Amazon and had most of them shipped to a hub location in Deming. One item is a new, second little electric heater. I had two but the second one was squealing and I tried blowing out the dust, but then it stopped permanently, so it went into the trash. I tried buying one from Walmart and a couple of hardware stores, but they said it was almost summer, so they put all of what they had on sale and won't have any more until fall. So, thankful for Amazon!

Happy noon, gals!

Was cold and windy yesterday and overnight. Warming up and calmer today. Will be near 90 by Sunday! It was chilly in the house this morning so I turned on the heat in my bedroom for awhile. Haven't had to use it for a week or more.

Velda, I checked out Google Maps for your area and counted at least 9 Great Clips shops around you. Try looking for one that way and I am sure you will find one near you.

Was busier yesterday at the WM shop and made a little more money. Glad to go back to my regular shop on Sunday tho. I have the next two days off.

CA is lowering the age for the vaccine to 50 and over, on April 1st so I registered for my first shot for April 2nd. Yay!

Off to my PT appointment now... Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I thought about Sarah and Wendy with the bad weather too. I think Sarah has worse weather than I do. I don't know what happened to our cold front. It's 78 and would be 80 if the sun would come out. My yard could stand mowing but is too wet. It will really need mowing by the time it's dry enough. If it's still windy out West please send it somewhere else.

I went to town to pick up a lunch, you know, my Friday fish. lol I wanted to pickup some of Sugar's medicine and just barely made it before the vet closed for lunch.

I thought we were going to have to call about our trash not being picked up again but the truck finally passed at 11:00. It usually passes about 6:00 am.

I'm a week out from my second shot and thinking about all the places I could go. lol I'm going to try to contain myself for another week. My son doesn't want to take the shot because he has skin issues sometimes and he's afraid it will make his skin break out. I think I would take the chance but I get tired of arguing with him. I think Louisiana is opening the shots to everyone on Monday.

Tina, I found out I could snooze people for 30 days on Facebook so I snoozed a few that I got tired of their political BS. Found out one had been in Facebook jail while I wasn't seeing her posts. Facebook jail seems to calm some of them down. It's a shame that adults have to be put in time out.

I don't think it's going to rain for several days so think I'll go mix up a batch of Roundup and spray the weeds I can't mow.

Good afternoon! I am officially vaccinated! Received my second shot yesterday and besides having a slightly sore arm and being very tired, I feel fine. Hoping that continues and in two weeks I feel a little confident about going out and about. Those new variates showing up have me concerned. Although I do feel that after spending over a year in sweats, braless and wearing my ratty old slippers 99.9% of the time I’m going to be in a world of hurt. Monday, I had to make a trip to Yankton to pick up my sewing machines (finally after two months), so I did do a Wal-Mart stock up. By the time I came home I felt like I had a boa constrictor around my chest and my feet were killing me and I was wearing a pair of previously comfortable shoes!

I’m trying to start my gardening season. At the end of last summer, I harvested some canna seeds off a potted plant I was given. The other day I scarified the seeds and soaked them in water and today they had started to sprout roots, so I put them in those expandable peat pellets and placed them in a clear plastic strawberry container and am hoping they will continue to grow. I have some moon flower seeds that I plan to try to start too, but they germinate quickly so I won’t try to start them until mid to late April. In our zone we can’t safely plant anything outside until after May 15th.

Well, that’s all for today. I’m going to go take a nap.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Good afternoon!

Nice so many of us have had 2nd shot or will be getting it soon! Friends have purchased their airline tickets for the postponed Ireland trip the end of June. I'll need to make a decision. The variants worry me.

Peggy, I hope you get your cruise! That sounds like fun. Sheila, your waiting out the weather reminds me of the January Carolb and I were ready to leave Florida for Arizona and California. Freezing temperatures arrived before we got on the road!

I do a lot of snoozing and unfollowing on FB. Seems when the snooze ends, I get days and days of old posts from the time I snoozed! When people share multiple pages, I hide the original poster who created the page.

It's a nice day here but the breeze makes it cool. I made the short trip to the grocery store. Obstructed view of my apartment building, but my little corner has siding! Finishing a load of laundry and have dishes to catch up on. Exciting stuff! :)

I think I'm one of the lucky ones with no real reaction to the 2nd shot. Just an arm sore at the vaccination site so far. Not even more tired that I'm noticing.

I came on here this morning and started a post, but got interrupted and when I came back I read no longer on the forum, thus lost it. I wish I remembered what I'd been saying.

Winds were calm this morning so Ty and I got out early. I'm listening to them now, so while not as bad as they've been, they're back.

Velda, I was surprised when you said no Great Clips near you. They seem to be everywhere in more populated areas. I wish there was one here in my small town. And none near where I'm going for the summer, at least that I've discovered. I'll do a better search after I'm there.

Barbie, congrats on your vaccine appt. I feel so much more relaxed having got mine. But will still stay pretty much following the masking and distancing that I have been.

Judy, I never understand the stores totally getting rid of things like little heaters, etc. Then complaining about losing business to Amazon, and now Walmart who is really breaking through in online ordering, too.

Thank you to all hoping my headache is gone/better. I've lived with headaches all my adult life. Mainly control with Tylenol. But occasionally one feels like a migraine and knocks me out. Funny that it did it the day before my shot. But I'm glad for that as I'm not blaming the shot for aggravating my headaches! Weather, yes... My sinuses often get aggravated my weather changes and on comes a big sinus headache. I muddle through.

I changed the protein powder I use for my smoothies and really love the one I changed to. No chalky taste and my morning smoothie is like an ice cream treat with no dairy and chock full of veggies, fruit and protein. I thought the other was ok, but not nearly as good.

It's been years since I went on a cruise. I'd love to do one again one day. Instead, for now, I'm traveling those kind of vacations vicariously through each of you.

Anita, my friend in Ireland said they don't have a good system to get the vaccine to the people. I would check the news to see how they are doing before you decide.

I had to send Mitzi to the vet with DH today armed with a list of her symptom as I had a doctors appointment at the same time. I wrote everything down as how she has refused to eat for three days and before that was only eating one meal, very slowly which is odd for her. The vet didn't even look in her mouth!! She did send her home with an antibiotic, because she had a slight fever, a $50.00 bottle of antacid medicine :o :o and some worm medicine as 'maybe' she had some worms...... she had swelling and redness around her urethra, she didn't check, she was scratching at one ear, she didn't look but she did have them do blood work. Oh and she had lost 7 pounds. We had to see a different, fairly new vet so I had requested that she consult with our regular vet but apparently she didn't. I have a call into him to try and find out what to do. Their office is 30 minutes away but I am returning this bottle of antacid and hope to see our real vet. The bill was almost $300.00 which I would not complain about but I feel like I definitely didn't get my monies worth!

On the other hand my doctors (PA) visit went very well. My BP was good and she talked to me about the gummies I take and agreed that doctors should be trained on how to talk to patients about taking CBD and THC especially since the highest percentage of people taking it are over 65! She also said she suggests it for some of her patients. She ordered blood work that included checking to see how my sodium level was after my ER visit Sat. since my regular doctor hadn't got in touch with me. I gave her the web site where you can call and talk to a nurse as to which type and the dosage that would be best. For pain and nerve healing I need a 1:1 ratio of CBD and THC starting at 20mg and it helps me sleep!!

The sun is out and the bad storms missed us yesterday.

Barbara is right, I was not using correct name for Great Clips! However of the list of over a dozen, only 3 are really close enough for me to be willing to go. All the others are 30 min or more through heavy traffic. So I will check them out.
BJ would you post the web site you referred to? I'm may want to add a THC formula to my CBD routine,
We have topped at 73 today! Very nice out.
Today is two weeks since Pfizer 2. I had a very slightly sore arm for maybe 2 days and was slightly tired, but that might have been my new BP RX.
Saw my chiropractor this afternoon. He said he can keep adjusting my neck but I need to see a PT to get it stronger so it stays when he adjusts it! So called spinal surgeon when home and his staff are sending my referral to my favorite PT, a PhD in PT. hope that helps as I'm tired of pain interrupting my sleep and possibly being part of the reason my BP is up each morning. I'll have 12 PT sessions then Dr will reevaluate.
That's it for start of my weekend. Have a good evening everyone.

I have snoozed people for 30 days too. I haven't heard of FB jail tho. I like that idea!

I woke up with a very sore shoulder this morning but wasn't sure why. I didn't sleep on that side. When I went to PT I told them it was sore so she rubbed it out and stretched it, working on it for quite awhile. It was really sore and stiff. She asked what I might have done different over the past couple days and the only thing I could come up with is that at the new shop, they have 2 really heavy brooms for sweeping up hair and we were real busy yesterday afternoon so I am thinking all the sweeping with a heavy broom must have done it. Not sure why they think they need an industrial type broom to sweep up hair! At my shop, we have a lightweight one and a heavy one so I always use the light one. I bought a lightweight broom on the way home to bring with me to the new shop next week when I work on Wednesday. I only have one PT session left so my therapist printed out some more exercises for me to do at home and will give me more next week. I also picked up a small weight and a large ball to use at home as well.

It was cloudy and calm this morning but is sunny and breezy today. In the mid 70's now.

Picked up lunch at Arby's on the way home so am relaxing while that digests. Need to get something done around here yet today. I really need to get to frosting my hair because I am so frustrated with it right now! It is so dark and flat and looks dirty even after washing it. I hope my shoulder is up to pulling my hair thru the cap!

Velda, glad you found a couple Great Clips you can go to. You can check in online to avoid waiting when you get there. Just go to GreatClips.com and do the on-line check-in. It will tell you how long the wait is at the shop you want to go to.

When I got my appointment this morning for my shot, it would not allow me to sign up due to my age even tho I will be eligible by then with the lower age limit. So when it asked what my job type was, I chose child care worker so it would let me sign up. In a sense, I do work with kids, hands-on, so that is pretty accurate. The eligibility will change again on April 15th to all ages, so I wanted to get an appointment ASAP before the mad rush happens. Don't want to wait any longer than I have to. Right now, our county has more vaccines, than people signing up for them, so I want to take advantage of that too.

My next door neighbor thinks the orange kitty is pregnant. I will have to take a closer look at her when she is here next time and see. If so, it would be good to try and trap her before she has kittens and take her to a no-kill cat rescue (we have several here in the valley) to have her kittens there so they get good homes instead of being feral like their mom. And then she can get fixed too.

BJ, I hope Mitzi is OK. I would definitely talk to your regular vet about what happened at this appointment. No excuse for not doing a thorough check-up on her when she has a lot of issues going on.

As far as stores not supplying seasonal things, our outdoor season is reversed from everyone else's since the summers are too hot here to be outside and we do all our outdoor stuff in the winter when it is perfect weather here. Same with gardening and yard stuff. But the stores here don't seem to care about that. They sell outdoor stuff and plants in the spring and put it all away in the fall. Same with fans and heaters. Makes no sense.

Peggy, your trip sounds like a lot of fun! I have never been on a cruise. I would like to take a 3 day cruise just to check it out. I get motion sickness very easily. I would love to visit the south Pacific Islands one day.
