Cold, Rainy Wednesday in the desert

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cold, Rainy Wednesday in the desert

I have no desire to walk Ty in the rain, but I'm guessing I'll have to bite the bullet soon. I wouldn't mind as much if temps didn't drop so much, too. Very weird winter.

I need to clean up inside the rig, so a good day to do that.

Morning Beth, it has been raining here all morning too. We need the rain but it is inconvenient. I had fun planting two containers with lettuce and spinach. Visiting nursery green houses lifts the spirits. It does have its downside. I would like to try planting Brussels sprouts and kale but am afraid the balcony would collapse. Lol. Waiting for a timer for the irrigation system for daughters/my raised bed garden. Was going to work on that this weekend but more rain predicted. Eye appointment tomorrow so not sure how long before eyes will return to normal after dilation. Can’t remember what I did before IPad. Lol Be safe

Hi Beth & everyone that checks in!

Beth, we had an unusually chilly weekend with temperatures topping off in the 50's and it was very damp and raw. It was in the low 50's when I got up and we'll be getting into the mid 80's this afternoon. That's more like it. I hope there will be a lull in the weather so you & Ty can get out for a walk, even if it's short.

We went out this morning to get things for the casita, but mostly for the bathroom, things like tissues, hand soap, a brush and comb, air freshener, etc. We bought some kitchen towels and a candle that I can't wait to light, as it smelled really nice in the store. Then we stopped at the local country store in Webster for some chicken breasts that Steve will grill this evening for dinner.

Shirl, you just snuck in. I can't wait to see your lettuce & spinach!

Good morning, chilly and cloudy here right now 41° with high predicted 52° and of course going to rain this afternoon. So my plan is to get my butt out the door soon as I have to go to Lowe's and then the grocery store. In my infinite wisdom I took some frozen hamburger out to make meatloaf with this morning.....but forgot to put it in the fridge before I went to bed. I am sure it would be fine BUT my mind would not let go of it being out all night even tho was probably frozen still for most of it so in the trash it went. Get my second Covid shot Friday so sure don't want to risk any unforeseen issues prior to that.

On the upside got my stimulus check in my checking account. This stimulus stuff is kind of mind boggling. First stimulus, they mailed me a check, second one they sent me the debit card, this time deposited in my bank account (which i preferred all along). No rhyme or reasoning just know I will take it LOL

I would really like to get out and work in the yard but no incentive when it is cold and damp so will continue to organize my file cabinet with my mountain of paperwork since the fire. I did remember to cancel my insurance on the RV. Since I paid for a year they said I had a refund whoopee.

Beth sure hope it warms up for you soon. I know it wouldnt be so bad if you didnt have a dog to walk. I can hunker inside just dandy but that sure doesn't suit the animals LOL

Yesterday they were predicting we would get severe weather and wind today and tomorrow. So far so good. We ended up getting 3 inches of rain and the front that came through yesterday is suppose to back up through here this afternoon. Another front is suppose to come through tomorrow with wind gusts to 40 mph. My son has to go to the doctor tomorrow and I don't know yet if his girlfriend can bring him or if I have to bring him.

I finally got my banana bread made. While the oven was hot I baked some sweet potatoes that my sister had given me. I seldom think about cooking sweet potatoes except for a holiday.

All the talk about planting has me thinking about planting something. The first thing I would have to do is get some hardware cloth and make covers to keep the cats out of my dirt. The bag I got at the campout had some flower bulbs but I don't remember what kind. They are still in the camper. I'll have to look and see how to plant them. I should see if the feed store still has Satsuma trees. If I plant any it will guarantee another bad winter.
I tried planting blueberries for 3 years and never got one berry.

I really need to get my tax papers done. It seems like I heard that they extended the deadline a month. Guess I could call my CPA and ask. I don't know why I hate that so much. If I would just get it all together it only takes me one day.

Hello Everybody. It’s afternoon here and I just came inside from working in the garden. Shirl your rain is supposed to get here later and that’s fine with me. My winter gardening in plastic milk jugs isn’t doing so good. No signs of the spinach or lettuce, but the book Choy has sprouted.

Martha, blueberries require acidic soil and you have to have at least two different varieties for cross pollination. Keeping the cats out of the giant litter box will be a challenge. Here the squirrels are digging up all the tulips.... such is life

Good morning -

I didn't look at the forecast closely so wasn't expecting rain. Had planned outside chores. Oops! It looks so different here without the snow - I didn't care for the dirty snow removal piles, but otherwise it was so clean and pretty.

Alan went fishing yesterday so I got to pick Monica up from work and have a bit of a visit. Plus a chilly Sling ride. :)

Think this will be a good day to read the latest library book!

Be well!

I have frittered the day away researching things on the Pad. Anita, I think Monica is the envy of her coworkers because she has such a cool sling driving Mom picking her up from work. :D Had a friend whose immigrant father started a trash pickup business. He said “ I didn’t mind helping him on the truck but no matter how many times I ask him not to, he would pick me up from school driving that &$#*% garbage truck”. My friend died owning a large equipment business. Good thing I can leave the iPad long enough to do a couple loads of laundry. Took soup out of the freezer so don’t even have to cook and I wonder why I gain weight.

I’m just catching up and was saddened to read of Donna Hyatt’s passing. I met her in Quartzite in 2016. This is a photo of Donna walking beside Patty. Carolb is on the right and Sandi on the left. While there we went to visit Celia’s Gardens where a section is set aside to honor RVing women who have made that final journey. We paid our respects to Sharon Souter. While it is sad whenever we lose one of our friends here, I hope their passing doesn’t cause us to lose those of us still living too. Hugs to Carolb.

Liz, I appreciate your thoughts. We are all heading the same direction for now but no guarantees on dates of expiration. May we appreciate all that we have while we still have folks to appreciate.

Acupuncture seems to have helped my back some. Audrey got to go practice her obedience at the Rural King store. I go again Friday. It was warm enough that I when out to the Road Trek and tried to start it. And. It. Started. After3-4 months not to bad. Audrey and I then unplugged it and went to a drive while dreaming of future possibilities. We stopped at the local tire store and said thanks for trying to find a good used truck tire to put on for a spare, but it is time to just buy a tire and know that I have a spare that isn’t dry rotted. I am ready to get a few other things worked on so that more things work. I only used it twice last year. For a trip to my son’s in the Hudson Valley and to a weekend dog show. It was functional but I missed my solar and two batteries. Lots to still for me to learn. I need to go to RoadTrek boot camp.

Liz and Tina you both said that so well. Unfortunately we'll continue losing friends. Age makes it more common, unfortunately. I remember one day when I realized my Mom was always checking the obituaries. And how often she knew someone in them. I'm wanting to enjoy all of you, all of my friends from all walks of life for as long as I'm able.

Thank you dear friends for all your comments.

I sent Carolb the picture Liz posted, as I didn't want her to hear things without me telling her first. I think she will be touched.

Worked all day at the new shop in Walmart. The guy I was supposed to work with today called in sick so my manager had to come in on her day off. It was very slow. I did 6 haircuts all day. Tips are dreadful! Only made $16.50. That is less than $3 per haircut. I guess I am spoiled at my other shop. I work at this shop again tomorrow but then back to my home shop after that. This shop is SO noisy since it is right inside the entrance to WM and the greeter is right outside our shop. Then there is the siren that goes off when someone comes thru the "gate" with something that sets it off. That goes off constantly! It was so nice to leave and have silence again! No bathroom in the shop either so we have to use the WM bathroom which is totally filthy and disgusting! So, overall, not a good experience. Was nice to spend time with my old manager tho. We get along so well.

Another windy day. Supposed to stay windy for a couple more days and maybe rain too. Been warming up tho. One thing good about cats is that you don't have to take them outside in yucky weather. :D

I am changing the color scheme in my bathroom. I realized that almost every room in my house is teal and orange, like the outside of the house, so I decided to change out the bathroom to white and yellow. I ordered a really pretty shower curtain with yellow roses on it. Need to get towels and a window valance to match but will wait to see what shades of yellow are on the shower curtain first so it all matches well. That will brighten it up a lot. It is too small of a space for bold colors.

I have lost so many friends over the last 15 years. And I am not that old yet to be losing so many already. Makes you realize that there are no guarantees with life and that you just need to live your best life every day. That was what prompted me to move out to CA 10 years ago after too many funerals of women my age and younger. Just can't put off your dreams for "someday" since that day may never come.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

my excuse for not doing anything was..... the wind it was so horrible plus I simply didn't want to do anything did a couple word searches read some even that was not what I really wanted to do should have gone to walmart or to Blythe and picked up a few things but it was windy I hate even driving in heavy wind... did take Shadow out some and right now not hearing the chimes so must be calmer... actually when I went out to turn on the generator it was the calmest I've seen it in a week... you know how bad it was today about not doing anything I made zoom for lunch and ate sugar snap peas for supper even figuring out something for supper was out of the realm of wanting to do... so Shirl your soup would have been nice but I do have a cupboard full of soup could have didn't
we have lost many in the church here the saying is that Quartzsite is the doorway to Heaven... heard of one today she lived in the Gold Star RV Park played gosh no idea how to spell the instrument similar to the one that is on a stand and you hit different bars ??? only way different seems like it was with strings lots of them tried to find the post but it was down to far... a beautiful instrument and she played it really well...
put a new station on my pandora the station here has played some of his music really really like his voice don't know why I didn't pick up it many years ago... his name is Paul Davis
cooling off enough to where heat would feel good and where is Shadow but snuggled up close enough to the buddy that I can't turn it on...
