Sunshine Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunshine Friday

Good morning Ladies. Bright sunshine and warming temps on forecast for next few days. No complaints here. Glad those you in the south came through the storms okay. We had a little snow, but it’s melting off now.

Haven’t been up to a lot these days but days seem to fly by. Put deposit down on new carpeting, so that’s done. Will be at least 3 weeks before it comes in. Tina, so nice to see you posting and out in the world again. Noticed a number of us are having sleep issues. Medications can do that. Also read where one shouldn’t eat after 6 p.m. as our bodies need time to let our food settle down, digest it etc. I have found that if I eat too big of a meal after that I can’t sleep either. I eat my supper around 5 o’clock, so then I am all settled down by bedtime. If I do wake up during the night, which I am periodically, because Molly loves to go lay outside like I said earlier this week, sometimes I will have just a little snack like a couple of crackers or something and that puts me back to sleep. Eating sweet stuff to in the evening can raise your blood sugar and cause lack of sleep as can caffeine.

I am having a little battle with a skunk right now. It has been digging under my shed. Was here one day last week and then I haven’t seen it until Wednesday or evidence e of it anyway. I am having to air out my shed. Can’t hurt anything inside there though. I covered the yesterday and I’m going out to check it in just a bit here. If it didn’t come back, then I am goi png to put chicken wire around the foundation and that will take care of that. Plan to dig it down Into the ground soon as it thaws out in that area. We have skunks around every once in a while but usually just passing through. It gets to pesky, will call the pest control to come get it out of here. They can’t get in my yard because of the fence so no issue there.

So that’s the latest from here. Have a nice dsy all :D

Morning Sue and All, Spent the morning trying to think of something interesting to post but no luck. Watched part 2 of The Cotswolds, really enjoyed it. Amazon Prime and Britbox has helped me through the past year. Strange how your taste changes as you grow older. I never liked scary violent movies. I could read violent mysteries but because it was only as bad as my mind allowed. Now avoid even books. My project today is super clean the fridge. I’m really going to toss the jar with one pickle spear, the half jar of ancient marmalade, etc. I promise myself I will start putting dates on opened items. Beth , loved the flag. Anita, there were a couple articles yesterday about decorating small spaces and I failed every suggestion. Be safe

Good afternoon -

Sue, good luck with that skunk!

Shirl, I'm sure I can fail at decorating small spaces, too! :D Since I'm starting from scratch, I have to stop myself and not pick something big and bulky. Interesting about the violent books because I came to the same conclusion and now have even quit watching some TV shows I have watched since day one. Part of that is loss of interest in the characters. I have a favorite local mystery author with a new book in a series I checked out. Haven't started it and only have 4 days left.

Did have some rain yesterday evening, but nice and sunny now. Obviously no news here! :D

Lovely sunshine here today but not very warm. My house is all clean and it feels so good to know in two weeks the ladies will be back and tidy it all up again! The little dogs were so happy to see them. I don't like violent books either and i have also stopped watching several tv shows. I do enjoy what they call cozys mostly British book that are mysteries but not violent. One author I'm enjoying currently is Jeanne M. Dams. I get them on Amazon Kindle. I just finished To Perish in Penzance.
I hope you get rid of the skunk Sue!!
I like a lot of the series on Amazon Britbox. They aren't loud and people don't talk so fast you miss what they are saying!

Sue, I was thinking of your dogs getting into the skunk, although it sounds like your shed is not inside your fenced yard. Two "skunked" big dogs with lots of fur would be a disaster!!

I learned something yesterday. I like all drinks with lots of ice, so I partially fill water bottles and put them in the freezer sideways, then I take them out and add water. Except that often when I look at them just before drinking the water, there are little particles in the water. This bothers me, so I dump them out and start over. Well, I looked this up online and apparently when you freeze water, the calcium and other minerals precipitate into tiny particles. And apparently, THAT is what I am seeing, so no more dumping out water and starting over!

Nice sunny day today with just a light breeze, so I will go for a walk to take some photos. I like this campground because it is so spread apart, but not much wildlife or variety of plants. Will check it out anyway. I do have a view of the Rio Grande and the lake, plus the mountains in the distance.

Semester is almost over, so in last couple of days been getting the usual "I had no idea that not turning in a couple of papers would affect my grade so much, so what can I do to make them up?" Three weeks ago, one student said she was having problems remembering to turn in papers, so did I have any suggestions? (My response was a calendar or a piece of paper to write notes to herself!!) And I have two other students who have already flunked my class twice and will have to take it a third time because they have forgotten (or not bothered) to turn in work! So don't let anyone tell you that older people have memory problems!!!

Went to PT this morning. More improvement! Yay! Woke up with a sore back so when I got home, I laid down on my heating pad.

My trim paint looks good today. If I get ambitious later, I might do the trim around the slider too.

Sue, being that you live near the woods, you are bound to run into wildlife. If you remove one skunk, there will be another one eventually. Try putting something with ammonia on it (maybe a sponge) and stick it in that area. That should deter it from coming back.

I have some empty space on a shelf in my closet that I haven't figured out what to do with. If I stack bins up there then I can't see what is in them and have to take them down to open them up. Don't want to have to do that. But yesterday when I was at BB&B, I found a pack of 6 stackable bins that have doors on the front to be able to put things in and take out without having to move the bins. Hopefully, that will solve my problem and give me more storage space for things. If it works out well, I may get more of them for other places around here.

I called the Zoo and found out my ticket for the Spring WildLights is for next Monday night. Glad I got that cleared up.

I am tired today. Had a hard time getting up this morning. I slept good tho so not sure why I am so tired.

Have a good day!

Judy, I love your memory problems comment. And afternoon everyone. I also have lots of problems in the small spaces as to furniture etc in the casita. Oh well lol.

As to books and movies, I used to shy away from the cozies. And I read just about anything. Now cozies are my go to. I like them being feel good. Especially the mysteries on hallmarks mysteries channel. I never watched Monk or Murder She Wrote and find myself watching both now. Murder She Wrote was most likely one of the early mystery cozies. And while i don't mind a little potty mouth, it seems except for cozies, regular books today are every other word potty mouth.

Every day I see bug companies driving in the park. I'm wondering what kind of bugs people are having. I'm sure not seeing them. Knocking on wood now.

I had a Walmart pick up this morning and thought of you, Sue, as I got a whiff of skunk. I remember one year with a family of them moved into my yard. I did call to have them caught and moved.

Barbie, you realize the more you collect and store, the more "things" you'll accumulate that you don't need. (Speaking from experience just with this little casita.)

Hi ladies!

We had a cold front that moved through last night and our high today was only 70. At least the sun was shining. Tomorrow will be cloudy & cool.

Our furniture for the casita arrived yesterday:

Irmi, I love your furniture! Love the colors and the rattan! That is something I would have picked out.

Beth, I don't plan to get more stuff since I am trying to get rid of stuff. But what I need/want to keep, I have sitting out due to lack of storage space in here. Being only 400 sq ft, there isn't a lot of room to store stuff so I have a lot just sitting out waiting for a home base. These containers will help put some of that stuff away where I can still get at it easy. I need to use every inch of storage space I have in here. Just had this one shelf in my closet that was a little high and open that I didn't want boxes of stuff that I had to take down or put back up when I needed things. These containers eliminate that (I hope!). I might get another set for some of my gourd stuff (which is also sitting in my living room waiting for a home base.)

Took a nap this afternoon. Then finished my autobiography classes and took the final exam. Got 100% on that. :D So I am all done with that. I learned a lot. Now I need to find the outline and notes I started awhile back and start in on writing again but with my newly learned techniques and information. I can do quite a bit of writing at work on my down time so I will bring a notebook with me there.

When I woke up from my nap it was 87* in here and that is with the windows open! :o I shut all the windows and turned on the AC. Feels much more comfortable in here now.
