Thursday with Rain here in SW Ohio

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday with Rain here in SW Ohio

Postby BirdbyBird » Thu Mar 18, 2021 8:21 am

Good Morning. Up to take the Honda Fit in because of a recall. After 107,000 miles It might actually be needing something to be replaced, otherwise I still enjoy the good gas mileage and the way it just zips around town. Today the girls come to clean so I might take Lark with me. The two smaller dogs "kennel up" when they come but Lark and I always try to run errands together weather permitting. Hope the Honda Dealership appreciate the smell of a damp dog....

My stimulus check will just sit there until time to pay my taxes. Since I cashed out the small remaining last of my inherited stock market funds in order to pay off my Vegas (and have a clear title to sell) it definitely hit my bottom line and I know that I will be using up both my usual refund plus some additional. The part that gives me peace is that I wasn't underwater on the rig and got enough that I could pay outright for the RoadTrek, some of her repairs and paid off my balance on the Chrysler mini van. Sitting through the past year without a house mortgage or vehicle payments helped me feel grateful.

Off to read at the dealership and to tell them that "no" the baby may be over ten years old but just stick to the recall work.

Good luck on the recall Tina. I don't remember if my Honda has ever had a recall but then I don't remember much. My Honda is probably getting close to needing to be serviced because I keep getting emails from the dealer. I drive so little that it doesn't need to be serviced very often. A new Ford dealership has opened up between Abbeville and Lafayette. I need to call them and see if they will service my motorhome. Probably not but would be nice if they would.

My son called me at midnight worried that his arm was swelling so then I couldn't sleep worried about him. He laid on his side and put his arm above his heart and that relieved the pressure. He had fallen and tore the bicep muscle from the bone. It's his right arm so hope he doesn't try to drive. He said something about starting rehab next week but that seems a little soon to me.

The storm came through here yesterday afternoon. The rain gauge says 2 inches but it was raining sideways for a while. Sugar was panting and pacing so I sat on the sofa holding her until the worse passed. She's not exactly a lap dog. She kept wanting to go outside so let her on the back porch. It was still thundering and lightening but she wouldn't come back in the house until it was all over. Crazy dog. I'm not staying out when it lightening.

There were straight line winds at the campground I'm suppose to be going to in North Louisiana that took down trees and power lines. It's a Sister's on the Fly event and over 40 women are coming. Some from other states. A couple of other ladies are already there and I think the electricity is back on. I wouldn't have wanted to go through that storm in a camper. I was going to bring my inflatable kayak but the temperature has dropped into the 50's so don't think I will do that.

Good Morning, Good to hear you are out and about Tina. I doubt they will mind a well behaved dog like Lark in their dealership. The ladies are coming here to clean tomorrow after a long incense and I am so happy, I saved a lot of dust for them!

Yesterday Toby went to the vet to have his teeth cleaned and Emma and Mitzi both had grooming appointments so for a couple of hours there were NO dogs in the house. I don't remember that ever happening before. It was a strange feeling.

I had an email from my friend in Ireland this morning and she celebrated St Patrick's Day with an early morning swim with a group that swims every morning!! I looked and the sea temperature is 46! She lives on Achill Island and it is seldom warm there even in the summer. Their annual St Patrick's day parade and celebration had been cancelled.

Martha I hope the storms are over and you have a good time. I would like to see the campers Sister's on the Fly are most still vintage?

I'm off to the pet food store and will go inside for the first time in a year. These outings are so exciting!

Good morning Tina and All, it is raining on the shore too. I slept in because I spent the night touring the beautiful villages and gardens in the Cotswolds of England. It was a happy ending to a aggravating day. Did not have a good Irish dinner because my 30 yr old crockpot decide to only cook a little. It took a couple of hours to figure out I didn’t mess up but was the pot. I think I have mentioned I am slowing down. Spent time trying to find a manual slow cooker on line. Target has one so might take a ride. I am sick of digital. I still haven’t changed the time in the suv because I have to go to YouTube to learn how AGAIN. Was notified that my primary nurse practitioner is leaving the practice so must train another doctor. I still can’t get on the bank website to pay the monthly bills. Think a change of scenery and fresh air will help. :) Be safe

Good morning all. It’s a rainy and cool day here today. They are saying maybe some snow this evening, not thinking it’ll be very much and as normal for this time of year it won’t stay long. A trip into State College for me today for my second vaccine and then I need to stop at Petco for dog food. I’m so excited to get this second shot! A bit more comfort in being outside of my bubble, at least in a couple of weeks! Of course will still observe masking etc but still will be better! Temps supposed to go up next week so hope to be able to get out and get my poor sad yard cleaned up! Wonder when it’ll be safe to dewinterize Lola?! Don’t want to push it since the nights are still cold and the heatwave won’t necessarily last. Tina, good to see you being out and about! Rascal usually goes to the dealership with me when I get my car serviced. They are definitely a dog friendly place! I have an appointment toward the end of the month to get my car serviced and state inspection done. I can’t believe how little I’ve driven it these last few months. And of course gas prices climbing just when I can get out and about more! Oh well, such is life. Martha, I hope your camping trip goes good and you have decent weather. Judy, if you make it to Gettysburg this summer I might be able to at least visit with you for a day trip. Remember when I met Sue there several years ago and when she stayed near me for a few days and we got to see some of the sights around my area. And Tina too when she camped at a state park near me. I think Carolb and Peggy were the first ladies I met. I feel like I have met some friends here on the forum and it has certainly enhanced my camping experience. Still hope for a gtg and maybe getting to meet some more of you! Gosh, as I write this I realize I actually met a few other gals in person too. My kids seem to take it in stride now when they thought I was slightly crazy when I first told them I was camping/visiting with total strangers! Now they just tell me to have fun! Okay, I need to get moving, don’t want to be late for my appointment today! Have a great day and as always, stay safe.

Good morning gals!

Just sitting in bed yet. There is not even a breeze outside and the birds are singing. So nice to hear birds instead of wind!

Tina, it is so good to hear that you are getting out and about and feeling much better now.

Martha, doctors like to start PT right away so the area doesn't stiffen up. I remember when I had my knee surgery, my doctor forgot to tell me to move my knee every day after surgery and didn't start me on PT for 2 weeks (he was an awful doctor and screwed up the surgery!) and by the time I went to PT they could hardly do anything with me because everything was so stiff. I have a book by Sisters On The Fly about one of their trips along Route 66. Great photos of their retro campers! Am glad the storms weren't too bad where you live. I hope Sarah is OK where she lives. Her area always gets hit hard from storms.

Shirl, I hope you can find a decent crockpot! I have two and both are manual and work well.

Need to get up soon. I have a whole list of things to get to today. I bought 2 more hibiscus plants and ran out of potting soil for one so picked up some more last night. Need to finish that this morning. Now I have a red, yellow, and orange hibiscus! The original one had aphids on it which I sprayed and got rid of them but the leaves started turning yellow and falling off. I will have to read about what causes that. I want to keep them all healthy.

I have 2 haircuts to do later today on my friends Dave and Debbie.

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Waiting for rain to start here in my neck of the woods! Gotta get moving and head to Costco, as Stormy is getting low on chicken legs. Corned beef done in Air Fryer last night was good. Tonight Reuben Sandwiches minus the cabbage. I missed my watercolor stamping class yesterday, so that will be on my list for next few days, to watch the replay and practice. I'm getting tired of waking up after 4-5 hours sleep and not able to go back to sleep! Not sure why, ESP when the new BP meds are supposed to make me tired! Tina, so good to hear of you getting back to normal activities and bet Lark enjoys her adventures with you. I haven't used my crockpot since I got my Instant Pot with its slow cook button. Guess I need to get rid of my several crockpots. I could almost replace my stove with my Air Fryer and my Instant Pot and maybe one induction burner! With most meals one pot or appliance, it has simplified clean up, for sure.
Have a good day everyone.

Velda, check the side effects of your medication for insomnia. Aleve woke me every three hours, would go back to sleep and awake again in three. Strange

I woke up after about 5 or 6 hours of sleep and instead of going back to sleep as usual, I finished a book I've been reading, browsed the internet, and now, more than 3 hours later, I'm just getting up. Talk about lazy. About to strip the bed, walk Ty and enjoy this sunny day that should get into the upper 70's. The sheets should dry fast today lol

Good to read from so many already. Car service is making me think I need to get the rv oil changed. Martha, I almost always use Ford dealers. I hope your new one can help you. I'm going to see if the service place in town here that has a sign for RV's will do an oil change. Places like it usually charge an arm and leg, not taking into account this is simply a Ford truck engine. If their price is unreasonable I'll make an appt at a Ford dealer on my drive north.

Good morning!

Rain predicted here, but we'll see.

Not sure why I am now waking up early and somewhat motivated again. I had a list yesterday, but I made the mistake of going grocery shopping before all was done. Once I go out, I'm done in when I come back - nothing new - so will finish it today. Actually, put some furniture in online carts last night, but won't order yet.

Happy the storms passed everyone without damage. Tina, glad you are out and about more. No Irish dinner here, but I do love a good Rueben sandwich! Kids getting a stimulus check is more exciting than me getting one! They are catching up with some needed major purchases with each check. Martha, we never get over worrying do we? Hope your son does well from here on. To those staying in bed in the morning, I'm right there with you! I am still sleeping on the couch due to cold nights plus my bed is covered with packed boxes.

Crockpot is about the only way I cook these days. I will look forward to an oven - I've not had the best of luck with RV ovens.

Off to tackle that list. Have a good day!

I finally got my yard sign in it's holder on my door. The over the door wreath hanger didn't work with my holder. Yesterday I put an outdoor command hook up and let it sit overnight. I like it and when I'm here more might just have to get more flags to switch out.

Love this! One of my go-to shows is House Hunter International (it used to be Escape to the Continent but can't get that one anymore). Today I came across Switzerland's Amazing Train Rides on Prime Video. I found myself really, really wanting to experience some of these fabulous trains & stunning locations. Will have to chart a course for the future & see if I can make it happen.

Beth, I love your door hanging!
Tina, really happy to hear that you're out & about. Bet the pups are happy too.

I have an all-purpose crockpot - it can sauté, slow or fast cook & has a removeable insert. Hope it keeps working a long time. Only used my instapot a few times - just cant' get the hang of it, but love my air fryer. It has earned a place on my small counter. :D

Hope everyone is safe & warm.
Take care,

I love the Cotswolds. I stopped in Chipping Camden for a day in 2018 when I was driving through that area. Check out my photos of the town and the crazy parking they do. http://humongousukadventure.blogspot.com/2018/05/510-chipping-campden.html. The worst parkers were the weekday church-goers. Next time I go, I am going to visit Chipping Norton and might even try to rent something for a week. Anyone want to join me??

Sharon, it would be great to see you. Can you recommend a campground near Gettysburg? I prefer state or county parks, but I have a feeling there aren't any. Also, I like open campgrounds so I can get satellite service. Right now, I am thinking about September 7-11 or so?? Wish the national park had a campground. Then I will head to Hershey for a day and then on to Washington DC for a few days. Finally, on to Florida.

I at least got the paper burned...
and a trip to walmart to pick up stuff that I thought I ought to get... snacks, bungee cords, even some of the flat ones.. hopefully big enough.. have two bins that I want to go into the back of the truck don't want the lids to blow away... and thought that the flat ones would work bet just hope that I got big enough ones if not well hopefully I can find the duck tape
I had lost the bar that goes between the two propane tanks so tried to find one here in Q but the two places that I tried didn't have it one suggested Spanky's in Parker it's a RV part store... so went there they had it and I found replacement mats mine had gotten so bad that I didn't even put them out this year I was so lazy :? anyway got two and again hoping they are the same size as the ones I am going to throw away...
an expensive trip with the two stores but did get stuff that I wanted. I got a spring curtain rod to put in front of some books that I put on the desk hopefully that will keep them on the desk.. they are also on a piece of that no skid shelf stuff that the name is escaping me...
still have lots to do and one of them is to go to the post office fill the truck up and get drinking water... not to mention all that I need to do inside... and the winds hopefully still stay where predicted in the late afternoon but then am facing winds in Vegas Monday not bad but need to be in St. George Sunday night although if I got up early enough I could make it it before noon maybe or not but then it would be getting to Ogden in the dark... guess will figure it out later
Tina glad you are out and about
saw on FB Irmi has her furniture hopefully she will pop in with pictures soon
you all have a good day
