Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Time for the wearing of the green, whether you are Irish or not. Like many of you, I am not an eater of corned beef either, although I do like corned beef hash.

Quiet morning here for now. Guess we have some snow/mix coming around mid day. It’s SS today, so off to the Credit Union, then running some errands, grocery shopping and stop by carpet store to get final price after having living room measured yesterday and put down the deposit.

Judy, I would love to GTG with you. You mentioned you want to go to Ontario for a week. Just a heads up that the Canadian border is still closed. Right now they say till March 21, but it is a month by month decision. Canada is lagging behind the U.S. in terms of vaccinations. So you might want to make alternative plans just in case. I will pm you with my camping reservation schedule. I will be camping in the U.P. again this year. The popular State parks and tourist destinations were mobbed last year and it’s looking to be the same this year. There are sites open, but one can’t be choosy.

Happy St Patrick's Day ladies~~~
Not a whole lot new here. Truck is supposedly in the shop now to repair all the damage from gas station diesel switch. I told them not to rush the fix. I'd rather have them fix it right instead of rushing it.

I like corned beef but not the cabbage part. Just tastes like ham to me. Guess I'm not the best Irish woman.i probably won't even have a beer today although I do have one or two in the fridge.

Good morning Shirl, Sue and all who follow. Sure wish I'd sleep more than 5 hours, but I'm awake. I have cream cheese out softened to use in a Guiness Sharp Cheddar dip for later. Got baguette slices for son and pork rinds for me to dip. A Corned beef will go in Air Fryer in afternoon for supper. We don't eat cabbage , not either of us, but will have green salad to go with it and he will have mashed potato and glazed carrots. Since I learned I'm over 30% Irish genetics, this day is more meaningful for me than in past.
Saw Dr yesterday and he was pleased with how my BP is coming down but still no explanation as to why sudden rise. I'm still suspicious of somehow the vaccine being involved but it could be coincidence. Guess I'll know by this weekend at the week mark after dose 2.
I have Curves today, so between cooking and exercise I'll stay busy. I want to go to Costco tomorrow, but rain is predicted, so have to see how heavy the rain is. Took son yesterday for his first haircut since pandemic began a year ago. Sure a lot of hair on floor after! He looks so much better. The new Barber opened where I used to get my hair cut, so now it's more challenging to find a place for me to get my long hair shortened!
I wish I could make camping plans, but with elder kitties I can't be certain , so will play it by ear I guess. Gas here is up to $3.38 a gallon at Costco, the cheapest place. That may put damper on many people traveling. But maybe I can find a way to do a day or two with fellow widows near by. Camping will also depend on the fire season, ESP since we are in another very dry year.

The wind got here this morning but no rain yet. I have to hold the storm door with two hands to keep the wind from jerking it open. We are under a tornado watch until 6:00.

I didn't think about wearing green this morning. I never did get any corned beef. It will be on sale next week. I don't know if I have ever eaten soda bread.

My son is having surgery on his arm this morning but I'm not getting any news. They would only let one person stay so his girlfriend is with him.

Velda, the gas in CA is pricy! Ours is going up but it's $ 2.85 in central FL. Sue, I hope you & Judy will be able to have a gtg. Martha, it's very warm here but also very breezy. Friday & Saturday we'll only be in the low 70's. Cheryl, I've been following your woes and am so sorry about the troubles you've encountered. I agree with letting them take their time to make sure your truck is fixed right. Shirl, when I went to the bank this morning, their internet and computers were down, so they weren't able to cash my check. Sheila, you were asking about Carolb and I talk to her quite regularly and she's good and like the rest of us, staying in her little bubble. She is down to one dog, Piper. She goes for her first vaccine today and I will talk to her the beginning of next week to catch up.

Like some of you, I don't care for corned beef & cabbage. And like Beth, I don't care for cooked cabbage, either but love coleslaw. We're having a St. Patrick's Day concert here in the resort and a sax player will perform. He's been here before and we've heard he's very good. We're expecting a call any day from the local Winn-Dixie that we're are on the list very soon to be vaccinated, so we're looking forward to that call. We were told we'd probably be called this week. Due to lots of flukes this week, little has been done in our casita. Our convection/microwave oven was delivered yesterday, but the furniture was not delivered. It is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Our bar and stools will be delivered Friday. So I'll try posting pictures once everything is in place. This morning we went out to get things for the kitchen and bathroom, such as towels, bathmat, trash cans, etc. We brought dishes and silverware from our house, which are stored at a friends house and hopefully will get them this weekend, so things are slowly falling into place.

Irmi, so nice to hear how you are settling in! Your place will be beautiful.
It's very cloudy now though the clouds are more milky White than the deep grey of few days ago. Tomorrow rain by 08 they tell us.
I'm ready for Curves and will head out in 20 min. Hoping gals are getting back to their fun seasonal dress for workouts. For past few years, a number of us have worn tshirts, socks, and sometimes leggings for workouts, which match the nearest holiday/occasion . I have my green socks and St Patricks Day shirt on. It started with just a few people but many of us have picked up on it. It's rather fun to see what people have found for the theme of the month. Then Disney days are stuck in when no other obvious one is near. I now have shirts for New Years, Valentines, St Patricks, the Patriotic days, halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas! I need to find a couple for Easter/Spring. this is my 12th year!
When I get home, after a shower, I'll get out food processor and grate a block of extra sharp cheddar, then mix the Guiness Cheddar dip and get it chilling. I bought soda bread studded with currents. Corn Beef round will go into AF around 4:30. I'll make mashed potatoes and steam some carrots. I have ingredients to make Chris a Shamrock Shake ala McDonalds look alike/taste alike. We will enjoy our evening, talking about relatives and their journey from Ireland, so long ago.

Yes! Got my stimulus money! It will pay for my new awnings--large one that tore and two slide awnings that are ragged.

Started to panic late last night and made a couple of reservations for summer in Michigan and Ohio. Sites are filling up FAST! Got four nights in Port Crescent SP where I used to play as a kid in the 50s way before it was a state park. Our cottage was only four doors east of there, and we kids used to go down to the three miles of land and explore. Those were the days when all kids were "free range" and my mother wold pack us a lunch with some bottles of pop and away we would go. There was a river you had to ford, or we took the old rowboat and rowed across it. Mostly, we just waded and then would jump off the high river bank into the soft sand at the bottom. Lots of sand dunes to play on and Lake Huron was sandier down there, so we did a lot of swimming. I remember there was a fresh water well of sorts--a small box set into the ground where we used to get water to drink and another more hidden salt brine well. All were destroyed when they built the state park. It will be fun going there again.

Also found a spot at Traverse City SP, but that was during the week only. Weekend spots are really full.

And, Sue, I am planning on going to Ontario in mid-August, so I am hoping the borders are open by then. Right now, I need to renew my passport!

My stimulus check is in my account. I guess this is a good time to be using a major bank. No problems checking on that this morning. Judy, good time for you, needing the awning. I need a new hot water tank for the casita, but not changing it until next time I'm spending time here. I am putting that check in savings tagged for that project.

Irmi, I love hearing about all your progress. And soon, Anita will be decorating her new place. It's fun to be with you while you're doing this.

After those couple cooler days, feeling like winter with the winds, today is gorgeous and we had a good desert romp. Now I've got a load of laundry hanging to dry. Will probably do my sheets, etc tomorrow.

With everyone talking about gas prices I went and checked. Our prices in February were equal to last year in February before prices dropped so much with the need going down. So of course we needed to expect that rise. The rise beyond that falls on the Texas storms. And the increase. I remember not that many years ago when prices were almost double now and everyone talking about if they'd quit traveling and more saying to get used to it, so I was very grateful for the lower prices while we had them. I think my first trip to Alaska happened during the highest prices. I really appreciated the lower ones for the second two trips, but would have taken a deep breath and gone anyway, just like the first.

Good afternoon. Busy with lots of errands this morning. Post office, then to drop off my old blinds and lots of cardboard. Had to go to Lowe's as the birds are moving into my carport railings so I bought some winterizing tubes for pipes, cut them up into shorter lengths. Then had to get on a pretty tall ladder....yikes but it wasn't to bad stuffing them in the openings. I wouldnt mind the birds except they poop all over right where I walk to my car, doesn't work for me. Need to start painting the trim again but it has been pretty chilly in the mornings and doesnt warm up til after noon. Will see what the weather does the next few days. I know we have more sunshine and warmer days coming so no hurry. Going to hang the last blind this morning, need to put my sheets in the dryer then that will do me for today.

No corned beef here, having a hamburger patty, mashed potatoes and the rest of the cheesy cauliflower for dinner. Small pizza and salad right now.

started out for cheese burger and fries at this one place meeting some friends but nope only serving corn beef and cabbage which I probably would have eaten but one of the friends doesn't do either so we went to another place and I got a Ruben almost the same thing right???
my check was also deposited ... can't remember having that much in the checking account forever... well probably when the house was sold but it's not a norm that is for sure...
I felt so bad went to this place that recycles so followed the cones stopped at the bins and proceeded to put the stuff in thinking that it all looked like garbage but oh well on the way out following the cones found the recycle bins oops a gal there so told her what I did she said no problem she would go get them... glad she was willing to do so as I couldn't reach up and fetch them out
so just looked at the weather looked at key spots winds are at 13 to 15 not what I like remember I am a wooze so like it in the 5 mph range finally thought to look at Q and it's going to be 19 mph yikes!!!! and up North it's the window for the next week ... even Needles is in the 13 mph range I don't know as it didn't indicate the time if that is morning or evening...
still need to kick butt and do something more than say I need to do this or that... or it won't be done
just wasn't expecting the winds to be that bad... maybe I will just have to pull of my big girl pants and do it but sure not looking forward to doing so...
speaking of weather though the rest of the week is suppose to be nice and warm in the 80's or high 70's like that only to be leaving it...

Good evening gals!

I am not big on St Patty's Day celebrations. Don't care for the typical food. There was a guy walking past my house this morning who had on a green Irish hat and wearing a green plaid kilt! There was a parade here today which I missed because I had to work.

I also tried to get on-line at my bank this morning but the website was down. I also figured it was because everyone was on there looking for their check. I looked after work and I did get my check so put most of it in my savings account.

Gas prices here are close to $4.00 per gallon, much higher than it was a week or two ago.

Irmi, does your casita have a bedroom or sleeping area?

Work was super busy today for some reason. I think I did about 20 haircuts! I need to really get myself motivated the next two days to get stuff done around here. Next week I will be working most of the week. 3 days at my shop and 2 days at the new shop. Today was the first day they were open.
