Colder Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Colder Friday

Postby Colliemom » Fri Mar 12, 2021 7:43 am

Morning y’all. Been up since o’dark thirty and it’s full daylight now. Put away a load of wash that was in the dryer, washed Pipers bedding, had a bite of breakfast and am sitting here half watching the news for what it’s worth.

Weather has turned colder again after two days of 50’s. Lost our snow except for patches and piles. But boy was it windy yesterday. 56 mphh at One point. Heads up to you gals out East, hang on to your hats and anything else. Typical March weather.

Nteresting discussions about doctors, medications etc. I too am not happy with pill pushers. My NP want me on Statins for my high cholesterol and Statins and I don’t get along. I get muscle cramps from them. There has to be alternatives. Am researching. Glad so many are getting vaccine shots. We are getting there, slow but sure. I’m still waiting to hear when I can get one.

Spent yesterdsy getting estimates on new flooring for my living room and countertops for my kitchen. Can’t do both of course, thinking of which way to go. Bei g the flooring will cost more, will probably tackle that expense first. Carpet or laminate is next decision. Need an estimate from Home Depot. I like the new vinyl plank flooring but my budget doesn’t  Those of us who have for kids know that carpet can knd of be be a pain too, especially if there’s a doggie accident. So it will give my brain something to mull over

Right now I need to wash my hair, then throw some new curtains in the washer to get out the wrinkles etc and freshen them up before changing out the ones in my bedroom. Want to change out a rod in my living room too. Forgot to measure for new blinds for guest bedroom, so couldn’t get them yesterday. Had planned to install some today. Oh well.

Good Morning Sue and All. Glad to know we have another project picture to look forward to. Sue after your shower please edit your topic or I will be confused all day. :D You have a lot on your mind. After coffee I will head to Lowe’s for the Shepard’s hook that clamps. The little wind chime from Amazon will be here on Saturday.. Doesn’t take much to make me happy. Be safe

It has been one of those weeks where it's hard to keep track of what day it is so I had to look a couple of times to find what Shirlv suggested needed editing! I could be convinced it is Wednesday.
We had monsoon rains yesterday and last night. Our back yard looks like a lake in places and the sump pump is still running even though the rain has been stopped since at least six.
I have an appointment to have my hair cut tomorrow with a new 'groomer'. She told me I would have to sign a waiver in case I contacted Covid, have my temperature checked and only pay with a check or card, no cash. Oh and because I told her I am chemically sensitive I have to sign a release for her not to be responsible if I have a reaction to anything. I never have my hair washed at a shop just ask they spray my hair with water and cut it. The good thing is, she only has one person at a time in the shop. I was ready to say forget it and when she told me a haircut would be $48.00 I wished I had! The place I had my hair cut for years was $24.00, but the person who did it retired. Oh, and she also didn't want to cut my hair without washing and using cream rinse because it might be so tangled. At that point I told her, I'M old and I don't have much hair. She at that point consented. While I love the fact that she is so careful I also was put off by all the paperwork I'll need to do. Should be interesting! She would probably be freaked if I told her Emma and two other Poodles go hair appointments with the trainer and wait inside on a bench.

Good morning to All from a very cold and wet Las Vegas. Right now it is 39 dark and raining. High today will probably not reach 50. Bill went back to bed under the covers. I am in t shirt and shorts, he has on jeans, tshirt and sweatshirt. Yesterday we went to market, another cold for Vegas day and by the time we got out of market his hands were not functioning from the cold inside and out.
I have discovered a really great exercise program on YouTube - it is a young woman trainer who is working with her mother. They have several videos from short warm up exercises to 30 minute walking and step. Some her mother does sitting in a chair. It is called Yes2Next after 30 minutes I feel it. Going to try to do them every morning. Especially on days like this when can't go out walking. Only need a few feet of space and sometimes a chair and a towel. No mat, no crazy jumping around. The trainer uses 5# weights sometimes, her mother uses small water bottles, I use cans of beans.
We are still finding evidence of mice, just a poop or two here and there, but driving me nuts. Got some poison pellets yesterday, will spread them around today. We have no animals or kids around so...the traps are staying empty. GRRRRR.
Hope the bad weather in the midwest misses every one. Take care and stay safe.
The title had me checking my calendar too. I thought it was closer to the weekend then that!

BJ, that sounds crazy just for a simple haircut! $48 for that?? Do you get a massage and a glass of wine with that too? You must have a Great Clips in your area that you could go to.

It is breezy and sunny this morning. Can't wait to see the snow covered mountains! I have my PT appointment shortly. Then a list of things to do today. My paint remover spray is ready to pick up at Home Depot so I will stop there on the way home. That will be a project for next week.

Glad the stimulus package was passed. I will need some of that money for a new dishwasher. I ordered a large clear plastic runner for my kitchen to put over the damaged floor so the edges don't get worn from walking over it. Will protect it until I decide what to do with it. Also need to figure out what to do about my golf cart. The batteries need replacing and that will be about $600+, or do I sell it as is and take the loss that way?

I got an announcement last night that my minister is officially retiring (which I already knew), and his replacement, who we hired on a year ago, has unexpectedly resigned (no explanation on that at all), so we have a new minister taking over soon that is a friend of our minister's. I checked him out on YouTube last night and he seems very good. The first replacement minister who resigned was a really nice guy but I just didn't get anything out of his sermons at all. So lots of changes at church right now.

I better get ready for PT. Have a good day!

Yes I thought it excessive and a glass of wine and massage should be included!! It is a chemical free shop and all her products are supposedly safe. This is where she orders from and calls the shop Holistic Alchemy Co So far i have received 3 text messages and two emails from her reminding me of the appointment. She is booked two months out but had a cancellation this Sat. I can't go to a regular shop like Great Clips because of the hair spray. The other woman who cut my hair for so long came in a half hour early before the shop opened. I also like this person only has one person in the shop at a time. Probably won't go back but for now seemed the best option. I've cut my hair all along but the back is too long and I like it tapered.

I fixed the title in Sue's post. I was surely confused lol

BJ, I like that she understands chemical sensitivity, but does she really if she makes you sign waivers, etc. Very strange. Barbie, I did like my stylist for a couple years that did give a scalp and neck massage. It was wonderful and was part of the services that shop provided. I had simply gone there on a recommendation and they weren't priced higher than other places. Word got out and if you weren't a regular it was hard getting and appt there.

I have no idea why I slept so poorly last night. I tossed and turned and now I'm cranky lol Good thing I have nothing planned. I'm about to take Ty for a walk. Maybe that'll help my spirit. I hope.

Shirl, please take a picture of the shepard's hook and wind chime when clamped in place.

Friday/Wednesday.... pretty much the same, right? Except my DIL gets every other Friday off so I usually do too - so no grandkids duty today! :D

I got my state tax refunds yesterday! I only submitted them last Saturday. I suspect it will take longer to get the Fed refund due to stimulus checks going out soon.

Olivia's school is opening up for in-person attendance at the end of this month. Kids will go 2 hours/day twice a week. Being around other kids & the teacher in person will be soooo good for her. I have to admit though, after all my complaining, she has progressed amazingly well with her virtual classes. She can pick up a book & sound out words & does a pretty good job of phonetically spelling words she doesn't know.

Going to get out & pick up a couple of things from Sam's club today & have an appointment to get new tires tomorrow. Other than cleaning up the place, that's about it.

Hope you all stay warm & safe.

Good morning!

Guess I never pay much attention to the 'title'. :)

Catherine, you may be right about a refund delay, but I got mine within 2 weeks. My daughter has been cutting my hair since last May as well as Alan's. If she's willing to continue, I'll be happy with that.

Hoping to venture out when it warms up this afternoon. Might finally go look at the apartment complex!

Have a good weekend!

If you download the irs2go app you can see your federal status. 3 days after mine went electronically it showed approved and a week after filing it was in my account.

PT was good. They add new exercises each time. My range of motion is getting better. I should get my new TENS unit today. Hopefully, that will work in between PT sessions. I have 4 sessions left that my insurance is covering.

Stopped at the bank to deposit my tip money and then picked up the paint remover at HD. Got a couple things at the Dollar Store, then got lunch at Taco Bell before heading home.

There are big thunderhead clouds with heavy rain coming down from them over the mountains on 3 sides of me. Nothing but sunshine here tho! I doubt any of that rain will get here. Looks cool tho to see the rain hitting the mountains. The higher elevations are covered in a lot of snow so that is good for greening those areas up in the coming spring and for fire season. It is only about 60 degrees today. I am in pants and a t-shirt and everyone else has sweatshirts and coats on.

I plan to start on my taxes today and see how that goes. I think I have everything I need for that.

Ran over to Walmart today to pick up a couple of prescriptions and some odds and ends, just a couple of food items. Dumped my tanks on the way. By the time I got back, sorted through one storage bin to try to find a rubber mallet I had, got my groceries put away, added water to my fresh water tank, and I don't know what all, it is a full five hours later!!! I was going to grab a donut at Walmart as a treat I only get when I go grocery shopping but they had no single donuts and you know how dangerous a whole package is. So I am just eating after doing all of the other things I needed to do to get set up and put things away. Where does the day go???

So I am now sitting down and eating whatever meal this is--breakfast, lunch, dinner?? Oh, and while going through that basement storage area, I found a puzzle and some books I bought maybe two-three years ago for a couple of my grandkids and completely forgot that I had! I am putting them in one of my drawers inside so I don't lose them again.

Thanks, Beth.
That's a quick & easy way to keep tabs on my return. It's still just marked as accepted. I'm always paranoid if I made a mistake, but at least I can keep an eye on it with this.

I filed my federal taxes electronically on Tuesday last week. This Tuesday exactly one week later my refund was deposited in my account. I’m impressed!

I have all the stuff to do my taxes normally go to the AARP but they are just having you drop off the information with an appointment on Weds and Thurs I think since I'm not positive when I am leaving was afraid that I didn't have the time now I am sorta thinking of not leaving this coming weekend...my dd and sil are going to be in St George leaving on the 23 and if I wanted help with the driving and as it's earlier than normal would be a help in case of weather... looking at weather.com it's iffy not bad but not wonderful need to look again... so sorta thinking of being ready watch weather and leave when there is a good window weather wise... but that is subject to change of course
Got water today and while there a lady came up and was getting water as well so we talked I invited her to join us but so used to coming here and not looking at name of forum not sure I gave her a good name :? but if a Mickey Jones I think is the last name contacts anyone she is the one...
kept busy but sure didn't accomplish a lot... tomorrow will do laundry probably ought to go to get propane as well do some of those errands ran like recycling taken need to get drinking water go to the store and figure out something for supper...
at least to me feels like a lot to do
you all have a good day seems like there was something more I was going to say but it is gone :o
oh I know yes I too was confused cause I went up after reading about people being confused with the day thinking but it's Friday what is wrong with that??? then read someone's post that sorta explained it.... if it still said Wednesday I would have been even more confused
