Was pretty busy today for a Sunday. Got two $20 tips and a couple $10 tips so was a good day that way. Now I have the next 3 days off, work on Thursday and have Friday off. Got my list of things to do all written out for the week. Tonight I will watch our church service on You Tube and work on my class assignment.

Was cloudy most of the day and no wind. I brought a bag of trash to the dumpster a little while ago and on the way back, I saw Spooky, so I know he is OK so far.

I used to have severe dry eye syndrome to the point that when I opened my eyes in the morning my lids were stuck to them and would cause a corneal abrasion on my eye. It was terribly painful and I couldn't do anything for most of the day due to the pain and my eyes watering so bad from it. It felt like I had glass in my eyes! My doctor told me to use a product that is like an ointment to put in my eyes before I went to bed to keep that from happening overnight. That worked. I would get that syndrome usually after being in a very smoky place the night before, like a bar, campfire, etc. Luckily, I haven't had any problems like that for many years, but then I am not around smoky places anymore.

Interesting talk about eye drops and gels. I used to need the nighttime gel also. Lately I've thought it would be a good idea again, at least some nights. I put it in my cart next time I have a Walmart pickup. The problem is things are blurry after I put them in and I often take forever to get to sleep. But they work.

I've set my alarm for 8 tomorrow. If I get up, I'll unhook everything and get propane. Normally I do most the day before, but didn't. I think I subconsciously don't believe I'll get up in time. Good thing I don't bet on it lol. The weather is perfect for it so there is a chance I'll do it. One good thing about working will be getting on a better schedule again.

BJ, remember, you can ask for no sedation. I guess not all Drs would agree, but mine did. Tell them why you don't want it. Also make sure they are using drops, not injection for anesthesia. There are a few old fashioned Drs who use injection and thre is no way I was going to let a Dr insert a long needle beside my eye!
As to drops, I like Refresh Plus little plastic pods or Refresh Optive pods. There are others out there that are preservative free. 3 different Drs said, the ones with preservative potentially slow healing. They are pricier, but worth it until healed. freshkote is another but harder to find .
I chose multifocal IOLs-intra ocular lens implants.medicare pays for the surgery and for standard IOLs which are single focus so close or mid or distance, but you can apply the amount Medicare pays and pay difference for upgrade. I never had issues with bi or trifocals so knew I'd adjust to multi vocals and that was easy for me. I'm very happy I saved up to do that. My IOLs are PanOptix Toric ( for astigmatism). Cost me just under $3000 per eye as I included laser correction of astigmatism. I had severe astigmatism and was very nearsighted. I got rid of most astigmatism between laser and Toric IOLs and can see very tiny print as long as I have good light and as long as i pay attention to not letting eyes get dry, which sometimes happens toward end of day. As i think i mentioned, multifocals need a bit more light to push the image through to the retina or processing. My phone I can read and distance is great. Middle is very good. They told me I have about 20/15 left and very close to 20/20 right after the scar removal which helped. I have no problem grabbing a little flash light for very tiny print, I gained so much, this compromise is fine.

Thank you Velda! I had asked for the multifocal and the added cost was about the same as yours. When I asked about the sedation they said I would need to talk to the anesthesiologist when I went for the surgery. Not a good answer. There aren't many places here where they do the surgery and at all but one, the surgeons come certain days of the week from other towns. I think I need to see if that has changed any during the year.

BJ.that's baloney because it's your surgeon who has final say! You need to speak to the surgeon and state your needs. It was my surgeon who approved the no sedation and the abesthesioligust had to follow his orders unless there was an emergency he was treating. Can you call the surgery center and ask tne anesthesiologist to call you? Sounds more challenging where you live. Where I went it was nurse anesthetists.
