Afternoon All. Another beautiful day so planning another ride. I feel like someone opened my cage door. Made my brother’s second vaccine appointment on line so will drive the 30 miles to his house and deliver the printed info. Any excuse. :) Be safe

I was up and down all night. No idea why. I have a feeling this day is a loss as far as accomplishing anything. We shall see. It's not like I have much that I have to do lol Well I know my black tank is full, so I do have to dump. Why do people hate it? It's pulling one valve then another. And that's my must do today as soon as I get dressed. Then walking Ty. So exciting, right? And maybe I'll hem those curtains. Dumping doesn't terrify me, hemming, even not by sewing does. Weird.

My arm started to get sore late last night, but I took more Advil and slept on the other side. Got a really good night's sleep and slept in this morning until almost noon. Part of it was reading in bed when I woke up--feels good on a cold morning to stay in bed an extra hour or two reading.

Arm is still sore this morning, but not really an aching feeling, sore when I move it. I want to go out for a walk today, but it is chilly and really windy, so will wait until tomorrow. Yesterday was a glorious day with almost no wind and warm at least in the sun.

Glad to hear about everyone else getting their shots. The more of us who get inoculated, the better. Do any of you remember getting your first polio injection in the 50s? (It was a shot then, not oral.) My parents were good friends with a doctor and his wife who somehow got polio vaccine many months before it was released to the public. (They had a cottage near ours on Lake Huron.) He had ten doses and was able to give his two kids, the daughter of another close friend, and my brother and me two shots each. (I suspect it may have been something he got for a trial of some sort, and the story was that he was supposed to return it, but didn't.) My parents had lost a child from polio 6 months before I was born so polio was a big worry for them. Then I remember later, maybe in 1952, getting the newer vaccine at school. It was a very small school, so they just lined us up in the hallway, one class at a time, and gave us shots.

By the way, my COVID vaccine was done in a building with doctor's offices, but they had only one person giving shots and said they were only doing 44 people that day! At that rate, it will take forever, but hopefully, more places will start giving vaccine soon.

Good morning to all. A beautiful day here in Las Vegas. Yesterday our son brought over two of his ladies with a sanitizing mopping solution and they mopped all the floors and their heavy duty vacuum cleaner for the carpets. Our son stayed here while they were cleaning and he and Bill moved all the furniture that was movable so under things are clean too. Makes me feel better. But still finding turds here and there. I think they are ones we just missed as there is no mess in one place. We still have to bring the RV back here next week and clean it up. It is only two blocks away so no big deal.
We got a new air fryer a bigger one Emerils 360 - haven't used it yet - not been cooking, maybe tomorrow.l
Bill is making crepes as I write this. Going to take some to our son as thanks.
No reaction to the first shots. If there was I didn't realize it cause I was worn out already. I have a bruise, Bill who takes blood thinners doesn't.
He is already talking about going somewhere in the RV during the summer...doesn't sound fun to me yet.
Glad so many are getting their vaccinations. Hopefully they really work well.
Stay well, drive safe and enjoy. Spring is coming.

Good afternoon gals! :D

Sunny and light breeze here today. I got nothing done yesterday since it was cloudy, cold and rainy all day. That kind of weather just saps my energy.

I spent the whole morning working on my Autobio class lessons to get caught up on. Lots of thinking back and reminiscing involved! She writes prompts for us to think about and questions to answer about our family, friends, and experiences growing up. I have one assignment to do yet today but that involves finding a photograph to ponder over and write about. All my photos are out in the shed so will have to go out there and pick out a photo to use.

I got Lola to play a little this morning. She hasn't done that for a long time! I might need to go get her a little toy on a string. Sometimes those things scare her more than intrigue her. She has never been one to play much.

I am still not eligible for my Covid shot. Hoping they lower the age range soon. Someone suggested getting the shot in the arm that is not the one you typically sleep on. That would be my left arm, but that is already sore from my shoulder issues.

Speaking of shoulder issues, my PT went really good yesterday. They really know what they are doing! Lots more exercises and massage and then an ice pack along with the little electrodes to zap the muscles. My shoulder feels better today.

Nice to just sit here and listen to the wind chimes and birds singing! Still have things around here to do so I better get off my butt and start on them!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I just barely made the cut to give blood. My Hemoglobin was 12.6. I need to do a better job taking my vitamins. I picked up a lunch at Piccadilly and they had strawberry pie. Score! I found some of the Cotton Candy Grapes at Sam's. If you ever see any try them. They are so good.

I have been wanting to go to Harbor Freight for a camping chair and kept putting off stopping. I picked one up today.

I don't remember getting a polio shot but remember the sugar cubes.

Better go put the trash by the road before I forget.

Strawberry pie sounds really good!! Have you tried cooking in cast iron to boost you iron levels Martha? I cook a lot in mine and I have seen an increase, almost too high. I have a little 8" skillet with a lid and it cooks a couple of chicken breast or pork chops in about an hour perfectly. It fits in my Cuisinart toaster oven.

Good evening ladies!

Martha, I remember the sugar cubes in school, too, for polio. To my recollection, we never got an inoculation in school.

We had more work done in our casita today with pictures following. He'll be back tomorrow to finish and put in the grout.

BJ, I cook in my cast iron skillet some but I don't cook often. My microwave gets a lot of use. I have an 8" skillet but I have never seen one with a lid. I'll have to look for one. I would use that size more.

Irmi, beautiful floor.

Nice floor, Irmi. It's coming along beautifully.

I looked it up. The first polio vaccines were here in 1955. Those were limited shots. We got the sugar cubes in the early 1960's and that's what I got. That's actually what's most got for the next several years. Now the shot is most prevalent to vaccinations to infants. Sadly, because of the anti vaxers they fear we'll start seeing polio again. My mom survived polio. She spent quite a bit of time hospitalized with polio when she was pregnant with my brother. It's also thought some of her problems as she aged might have been caused by her polio all those years previously.

Martha, congrats on picking up your chair. I'm proud of myself for hemming my two curtains. Yay lol And I took my paperwork to the office showing the outside work required on the casita is done. And I found out when I replace my hot water heater 70% of what I pay will be added to the value of the casita. And I learned that if I follow certain approved ways to drain it, etc when not here, my insurance will cover it, also. That makes me happy. I'm not doing it before fall or possibly next year, but it and more things will be getting done if my funds for all of that build enough. I do have a guy that is going to come and hang all my pictures when I call him, for a reasonable fee. It'll be quite an electic mix but I'm ok with that.

My dad had polio when he was a teenager. It affected his throat and he had issues with swallowing. He did have issues with it in his later years too which led to aspiration pneumonia several times. They call it post-polio when the symptoms come back later in life.
