Wednesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Wed Mar 03, 2021 7:39 am

Morning. Been up since 6 a.m. Daylight now and cold and cloudy out, but sun and warming up are on today’s weather agenda. I too am looking forward to time change. Means the pups and I can resume our evening walks, so we get two in one day. From reading yesterday’s posts, looks like a lot of us are getting spring fever.

Loved reading abut everyone’s choice of cars. I was always a lover of SUV’s and pickup trucks. Have only had two cars in my lifetime. I just like the higher up ride and thry are safer in an accident. Seems like I’m always hauling something or other too. My dad was same way as he got older. Loved his vans and SUV’s. He said they were much easier to get in and out of.

Judy, glad to hear you are finally getting your vaccine shot. I’m on waiting lists. Next county down is having a clinic on Friday as part of the 10 county Health Dept. area they are in. But you have to be a resident of one of those counties. Saw yesterday where all the drug makers are going to team up and increase production, so that should get things rolling. With J&J in the mix, that will help greatly.

Scrapbooking day again todsy, after a trip to town first. So off to the shower and get my day moving here. Have a good one everybody!

Good morning to all. Was awake by 4 a.m. Finally got up at 5. Bill was up way before me and is now back in bed. It is pretty cool here in Vegas so he is freezing all the time. Even though furnace is on and running almost all day to keep the house at 77 and he is still cold. He is very anemic so think that is part of the problem. Only thing he can do to solve that is iron infusion and there are some side effects that don't sound too pleasant. Getting new doctor maybe he can convince Bill to do it.
We got our first vaccine yesterday - so far I just have a small bruise. Yesterday was the first day I did very little around here. Got most of the rat stuff cleaned up and RV is in storage until a week or so when we will bring it back and clean it. After three days of non stop cleaning etc. I really "hit the wall" yesterday. It was an effort to even move - these old bones are irritated with me. So finally worked on my jigsaw puzzle and today will continue that and work on a sitting down part of making my stained glass piece I start last fall. Got a new air fryer an Emeril 360. Should be fun learning how to use it.
Son is coming over today to either give me some solution to sanitize our floors or arrange to send someone to sanitize floors and carpets. I hope send. Will for sure play the poor old Mom game on him.
Bill put his drone up yesterday to take a look at all the fire damage behind us in The Wetlands. Wow - it happened a couple of weeks ago, no wonder a lot of people living here were worried. 45 acres were burned. Just across the wall from where we live. Though there is a 50 foot gravel fire break between the foliage and our walls.
So that is it - today relax more or less.
Thinking of and reading about what every one is doing. Enjoy your days and stay safe.

Good Morning All, we are having a heat wave, 50° today and sunny. I’m going to Lowe’s,my favorite home improvement store and haven’t been there in a year. Buying an irrigation system for daughters raised garden bed. Waiting for warmer weather to install but it’s a good excuse to take a ride and look at the garden center. I left my gardening tools at the house so will stop at daughters and see if I want to add a favorite tool to her supply. Check how much soil and fertilizer needed for the garden bed. Glad to have a project. Carol, what a horrible mess. I hope pest control finds pests entrance. Something must have changed after all your repairs. Do they have heated throws for Bill? Off to Lowe’s, oh! Boy!

The sun is out and it's up to 50 here too. I think it's suppose to get into the 60's.

Carol, get Bill some One A Day Prenatal vitamins. They have iron and extra folic acid. I don't know if you could get a man to take them. If I don't take them my blood count is too low to give blood. If there are any stray cats around your house maybe try feeding them so they will stay close. Maybe they will help you with the rat problem. My barn cats get plenty of food but they still hunt.

Sue, have you seen the new feature on the Ford work trucks. You can use them as a generator. Someone in the Texas freeze was using his truck to power things in his house. Every time I ride in a friends new truck I want one but I don't need a truck. I don't really like to drive the one I have but need it to pull the utility trailer.

Two mornings in a row Sugar has woke me up at 5:00. I don't think she needs to go to the bathroom, just stand on the porch but I'm afraid to not let her out. I finally went back to sleep and there was an amber alert on my phone at 7:00. People don't want me to sleep.

Trying to think of some reason to go to town because I'm bored. Guess I could go get a lunch and go see if Tractor Supply has the faucet I need.

Eating more red meat, ESP liver and other organ meats will help with iron deficiency and the natural form it's in is way more absorbable than the artificial sources in pills!
We have at least part sun today with rain for weekend they tell us on news. I have a watercolor painting class in about an hour, then Curves. BP today down just I little, on the new double split dose of same old drug. I'm not convinced it will work, as I think they changed the generics formula, but I'll try for two weeks. Then argue with Dr again.
I thought Coyotes were pests and could be removed! Scary for kitties if a pregnant coyote will soon have pups to feed!,
Mandy is sure clingy this morning, makes it hard to type with her insisting on sitting up on my chest, between iPad and my face! Silly cat.
Have a good day everyone.

Bill has a condition where he cannot absorb iron from food or pills. So the only way is right into his veins. He also cannot absorb the B vitamins by pills, so he has to use a nasal spray. Only one available is called Nascobal and it is expensive luckily our insurance covers most of it - our copay is 60 dollars for 90 days supply. Had to argue with the prescription insurance this time. Spent an hour on the phone with both medical and prescription people - but got it straightened out. And then the pharmacy had to order it - they don't stock it. But all is taken care of now. Well except for the Anemia.

Happy noon! :D I went to bed just after 10pm and woke up around 5am, my usual 7 hours of sleep, but didn't want to get up that early so went back to sleep and woke up at 11am! Must have needed the extra sleep. I did go out to feed Spooky when I was up early since she was meowing outside my window.

I am going to ask security about the coyote situation. It worries me that there is not only a pregnant female who needs to eat, but the pups will eventually need to eat real food to, and then how do you remove all of them from the park? Also with that many (however many pups they can have) roaming around, it could eventually be dangerous for the older people here who can't move very fast and are out walking alone or with their dogs, around here. Not a good situation that will get worse over time. Tons of people here have little dogs and of course lots of stray cats.

Also read that Wisconsin had a wolf hunt last week (thanks to "someone" removing them from the endangered species act last fall  ) and within 60 hours, more than twice as many wolves were killed than they had allowed. They had to shut down the hunt early. Also, many of the wolves killed were pregnant. Lots of uproar over that whole thing! Just sad!

It is cool and cloudy here today. I think there are some storms along the coast today but we will just get the clouds, no rain.

Carol, I vote for having professionals come in to sanitize the house. Rat poo can carry diseases and you want to make sure it is all removed. They know how to do that. (Besides, who wants more cleaning to do yourself?).

I need to wash my hair, eat lunch, and then go to my PT appointment. Then back to cleaning the house. Made good progress yesterday. Being such a small house, it doesn't take long to get messy!

Have a good day!

Edit: Well, I spoke too soon. It just started to rain! Just sprinkles so far but I went to tell my neighbor about the coyote situation, when it started. And it is chilly out there. I put shorts on this morning but am gonna change into jeans now before I leave.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Am on earlier than normal. charged up the computer and just unplugged it may get on later for a few but it shows that the batteries to the trailer are charging ... guess cause it's cloudy all I need is to not have full batteries... hopefully it won't be so windy tomorrow and my friends can come out and see if they can figure out the generator problem... looked at the receipt and yep the year is up... early part of Feb.
accomplished nada today unless reading is doing something... :? but finished the book
cooling off a bit so guess I need to go get my sweatshirt on... then wake Shadow up and take him outside...
Carol was going to say that my mom had the iron infusion oh what a year and half ago... I am guessing she did fine with it even now her iron wasn't low enough to warrant her getting a transfusion or the infusion either... perhaps it is something not as problematic as thought.
you all have a great rest of the day need to go pop that potato in the oven if indeed I am going to have it tonight

Got my vaccine today. Had to drive 30 miles, but it was worth it. Got Moderna, which is great. I did not want the Johnson and Johnson vaccine because I was told that it might not work as well as people recovered from CLL. SO, far, no pain or side effects, but I did just take two Advil as a preventative. I have to go back on the 31st to get the second shot. I am really happy to have gotten it.

No power last night as whenever I plugged my plug in the electrical pedestal, it would come on and off, causing a beeping sound in my RV, but no real power. And of course, all employees had gone for the day. So, I worried all night about running out of propane because it was really, really cold here. Filled up with propane on way to get vaccine, so I am OK for a couple of weeks. Ranger replaced the receptacle while I was gone, and it is now working.

Wish they would have a few sprinkles here. I had a truck wash just before I got here. Did not realize roads were gravel and very dusty, so rig is now covered with dust again. Lost some of it driving today, but probably will not come back here again because of dust. What with the dust blowing here and the dust storm in Laughlin, everything really feels gritty. Been wiping stuff off and trying to keep windows closed, but it will take a few days to get everything clean.

Wish me luck with any side effects from the Vaccine!!

Congrats on getting the vaccine, Judy, hope you don't have any side effects. I am thankful to be getting my own first dose of Moderna tomorrow morning locally - at a pharmacy about a mile or so away. I am always a bit fearful and leery of such things (it's just me) but I am really looking forward to having new "adventures" once I am fully vaccinated.

What might these adventures be, one might ask? Easy. Going the the dentist, the optometrist, taking my lawnmower to be serviced (before the grass gets so tall I can no longer find Joe out in the back yard), maybe going for a drive around my local volcano.

Yes, there is a volcano here within just a few miles of me.

All kinds of fun stuff! Probably will continue with not eating out and not going into local stores - will just continue to have my groceries delivered. I find I kind of like ordering groceries online, and having them show up on my front porch.

Stay well, everyone! :D

Yea! Anne has an vaccine appointment. Judy has her first shot. We are doing it one arm at a time. We don’t want no Brain Fog. My brain is foggy enough. Had a good day walking in Lowe’s garden center. I was the only one there. My enthusiasm out of control again.

Sounds like everyone is starting to be able to get the vaccine. I go for my second dose on the 26th. I dont think much will change in my world tho. I do go shopping but everyone is masked here so I feel pretty safe. I do takeout and bring it home. Other than that I am pretty much in my own bubble.

Went over to the Motorhome today to make sure all was well as they are picking it up this weekend. I ran the engine and the genny for a while. Lubed the stairs and locks. It needs a wash job but that isn't happening LOL Then home for afternoon chores.

Spent the afternoon painting. Had to paint the trim around the new vinyl windows as they had to take it off and then put it back on after window installed. It had lots of caulking smeared and nail holes so it needed a paint job. Also the windows fit smaller so had to paint above the window about 1 inch worth. I found the old paint in the shed so I was able to have Lowe's read the code and just mix me up a quart and it was perfect match. NOW while I was waiting for my paint to be mixed I managed to buy a rake and a shovel WAHOO I also bought a sprayer so I can start spraying my weeds. The tree service is coming next week to take out the stupid arborvitae and juniper bushes YIPPEE I only got the 2 windows on the back deck done and the two new boards in the front painted. Then I was DONE. My back is hurting so decided it was time to quit for today.

Now sipping on a Caramel Mocha with a couple of cookies. Might find something on the tv to watch.

Good evening!

I'm excited that so many here and elsewhere are getting the vaccine! Monica and I both thought our arms got a little more sore during the day. Probably wouldn't have noticed it if I had just been sitting and doing nothing! Wasn't bad enough to take anything.

Kids came this evening and we 'rocked' the Sling out of the mud! Woohoo! Freedom! I can take out my own trash, get my own groceries, shop, ride! Still upper 40s and low 50s during the day. No rain in the immediate forecast, but we all know that can change! Of course first I have to inflate tires, wash mud off and wash all the muddy cat prints off.

Sue, I agree about trucks and I may still go that route. I'd keep the current one if it wasn't a dually. Coyotes are getting braver over the last few years. Know of cats and dogs that were targets. There are black bears and mountain lions in this area.

Be well!

Anne, I have a TV in my bedroom that helps me get back to sleep when I wake up in the middle of the night, which is multiple times each night. Since late last January, it does nothing but constantly flicker and has lines running from side to side. Sometimes it is just non-viewable, so I have just been listening to it for over a year because I will not let anyone do any repairs inside of my motorhome. (I did let someone come in to fix my leaking toilet because I figured it was an emergency!)

So, in a couple of months (2nd shot is a month away), I can call an RV TV repairman and get it fixed.

And I recently have been having thoughts about wanting to go shopping at a Mall. I don't really need anything--I just miss wandering around at a Macy's or Penney's or Dillard's! Crazy, I know.

Most importantly, I will not have to worry so much after going to get groceries at Walmart's or another store. I will still wear a mask, but I won't have that feeling that maybe it wasn't tight enough or maybe I stood too close to that other lady shopper, or did something else wrong to make me sick. And I won't have to worry about one of my kids having to come get me so they can take care of me. Until I got the message about the appointment yesterday, I was really depressed about not getting the vaccine until summer.

And, Shirlv and Anita, I am also really glad to hear that other people are finally getting this vaccine! One person at a time, and the numbers are going up. Double YEA!!!

Judy you explained so well the feeling of being able to go out with a few less worries while still being proactive. Judy, were you planning on staying there that long? That said, I sure would to make sure you get the second dose on schedule. One reason I stuck here at my casita was believing it'd be easier for me here

I think it's so exciting that all of us are getting our vaccinations. And Anne! Yes! I think you were giving up. Mine was the Moderna also. I never needed anything for the soreness in my muscle. Maybe if I'd been doing heavy lifting. I'm expecting the 2nd dose to maybe give me a bit more side effects. We shall see.

I washed the curtains today I need to shorten. So ironing on the stuff to hem them will be tomorrow's job if I don't procrastinate or decide to do something else. I do want to take a drive to a place about 30 miles away and take pictures. Most people never do it and I've driven by several times and not stopped either, so I will this month, whether tomorrow or not will be seen.
