And it's the final Saturday of February

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

And it's the final Saturday of February

Postby Bethers » Sat Feb 27, 2021 12:42 pm

Time sure flies, even when doing nothing. The minutes might not, but weeks and months do. I have absolutely no plans for today other than getting out for walks with Ty. Oh, and eating too much. That's a given. I saw a picture in memories on FB this morning from 7 years ago today. I was at or near my perfect weight. I can no longer say that, no where close. When I got my vaccine two days ago, the room had a scale in it. I weighed myself and wanted to cry. I need to start walking, exercising more and eating less. Somehow it's not happening. I know it's causing lots of my problems... My bad hip, for example, is worse because of the weight. So while I know what I need to do, somehow it isn't what I'm doing. Ah well.

I hope everyone is doing well. My first vaccine caused no problems other than the sore arm muscle. That's true of every vaccine for me. I'm just thrilled to have gotten my first and look forward to the second. No it won't change a lot for me, but I'll certainly feel a lot more comfortable doing the things that need to be done.

Hello all! Just after noon hour for me and chilly and wet. At least it’s rain and not more snow and freezing temps! I got my first vaccine on Thursday and haven’t had anything but a bit of a sore arm. Appointment made for second one in 3 weeks. This clinic was organized by Walmart and I must say they were well organized and moved everyone from station to station in a very well organized way. And they were very cheerful and upbeat! I was only there for about 40 minutes so it was in and out! About all the excitement I had this past week! Our snow is melting fast and I can actually see some grass! Spring will come! Tina, hoping for the best for your appointment on Monday. So glad you’re doing so much better. The pups will have you out walking in no time! Irmi and Karen, progress is being made in your living situations, love hearing how they’re coming together. Sue, I still have some painting to do if you are inclined to visit PA again! Sounds like you all out west are dealing with the one thing I dislike with the weather...wind. Never been my favorite and we’ve had some too but not like what you’ve had. Guess I should get moving, I need to drop off my taxes so I can get that off my list of things to get done. I’d love to stop by my kids places but probably should wait it out! I don’t want to jinx myself! I almost went to have lunch at my favorite Mexican restaurant the other day but set in the lot and decided maybe it wasn’t a good idea yet! So hope you all have a good day and stay safe.

Hi, Ladies,

Well there were a few morning minutes left when I started this and then boom, post was gone!

My daughter texted me yesterday she is getting vaccine on Tuesday since she works for the schools. I read they had 300 doses. I got my e-mail for an appointment this morning and was able to get the same time as Monica!

Irmi, fun watching your casita progress. Karen, every time you talk about shopping, I love hearing what you are buying! Thanks for the heads up on stock pot size. :) Tina, happy you are feeling so much better and look forward to results tomorrow. Beth, I have eaten a lot of foods this winter that I don't usually, but I also seem to eat less most days. I have not been good about ordering fruits and veggies for pickup, but Monica says they have done fine with it. Shirl, you get the summer traffic and we get the winter. I'm told there can be a 2 hour backup between here and the kids' - a 7 miles drive!

There's a dusting of snow most mornings, but the warmer days keep the melting going. Time to get busy!

Be safe!

I would like to go fishing but the wind is blowing so hard I can hear it. It's not fun to fish in the wind. I wish I could take Sugar to the pond but she still smells like cow poo. She needs a real bath with soap. I would like to burn the trash but that's not a good idea either.

Fishing yesterday worked most of the soreness out of my arm from my shot. I have an appointment to give blood next week so I called them to see if they still wanted me to donate since I had my shot and they said yes. I am already thinking about picking up lunch at Piccadilly Cafeteria to see if they have strawberry pie. I am still trying to lose the 5 pounds I gained in December and have only lost one. I need to get back to walking again. Just walking the dog isn't enough. She has to smell everything so I don't get much exercise. She would have made a good hunting dog. She has even smelled out 2 turtles along the road.

I was moving stuff on the counter and found a bag of macaroni noodles After all the talk of macaroni and cheese I decide to make some. I cooked a cup of noodles and put butter, cheese and milk in them. It was ok but I still think kraft is better.

Good afternoon. Beautiful sunny day here and the temp is 46. The dogs and I just came back from a really nice walk and I hated to come in. We have one day of kind of cold weather coming on Monday and after that was supposed to be up until the 40s and pretty much sunshine the rest of the week. The frost laws are going into affect on March 2 so that is definitely a sign that spring is on the way. And liked Tina, I did a bit of “poop patrol” out there. Tina and I must be leading exciting lives if that’s the only news we can come up with

I belong to that club of over eating and not on tbe veggie/fruit much either. I gained back the weight that I worked so hard to lose 2years ago. Like the rest of you I keep telling myself I need to cut down and start getting this weight off, but I’m not doing good at it either. I am sure that this pandemic has had a lot to do with it because we are all under stress whether we realize it or not. It was find some comfort food type thing. And it’s got my cholesterol high and my NP wants me to take the darn cholesterol med and I don’t wanna. I’ve gotten bad muscle cramps at night for it in the past and it keeps me awake.

Annie, this situation that I have with my eye is a rare thing. That’shy you have not heard about it. From what I have read it affects about 3/10 to 3% of people who have implants. This implant was put in way back in the1980s and at that time they were just coming out. So basically it’s kind of an antique per se compared to today’s. When I first saw him in December and we talked about the surgery, I asked him if this one could be replaced with a newer one now and he said not really because it involves an extensive surgery. But now that this one has completely slipped out of its little bag, he’s going to have to go on there and get it out, so maybe it might be a possibility. He also mentioned something about maybe corrected it with glasses but I’m not really keen on getting those heavy thick ones cataract glasses, unless Thry have changed over the years. We shall see what happens next week Friday.

So just checking in here. Going to be time to start thinking about dinner pretty soon.

Good Afternoon, I have to join the “I’m not fat just fluffy club”. I’m not stressing over the added weight, I can only deal with one thing at a time and that is the pandemic. By the end of March I should have second vaccine plus two weeks and feeling emotionally better. Will still wear a mask and wash hands. I’ve thought about Karen’s chicken, stuffing and gravy since she first mentioned and I can verify it is very good. I’m just back from the highlight of the week, a walk to the dumpster. March plans, a visit to see my friend Edith, wine on the deck of my old house with youngest granddaughter, cookout with rest of the family who I have missed for a year. Finally something to look forward to. Gonna dig in some dirt too. Hoping all who want a vaccine will get an appointment soon. Be safe.

Drove 125 miles today, after walking around Homolovi ruins and visiting the visitor center--only one person or one family allowed in at one time. So now I am at 6,000 feet at Lyman Lake SP. I saw online that there were lots of sites, so I did not make a reservation. Got here and found a sign that said no camping unless you had made a reservation, but could not get through to number they said to call, so drove in and knocked on door of camp host who directed me to the store. It was 10 minutes before they closed, but they set me up on a site, so I am now legal. Cold here and supposed to drop down to 19 tonight, so I put my electric cord through the little hole and wrapped a rag around the hole where the sewage pipe would go through if I were hooked up. Also put the sensor for my remote thermometer in the area where my water and waste tanks are located. They are covered and get heat from my rear furnace, but the thermometer allows me to monitor the temp without going outside. Love it!!

Route 180 today through northeastern AZ was not rough exactly, but not level, like they had not bothered to smooth out the rolling country road. I had to drive slowly because every once in a while, I would go over a little swoop and my vehicle would try to take off! And sometimes the road caused my to swerve from side to side like a drunk. Reminded me of one of those carnival houses where the floor is never flat and keeps moving. Anyway, I was glad to get set up and put a few groceries away that I had picked up. But dinner started out being a little complicated, so as time went on, I picked easier and easier options. So, I am now sitting with a bowl of cottage cheese, to be followed by some watermelon and a donut I picked up at Walmart. Not particularly the best meal, but i am tired of eating the macaroni and chicken salad I made two days ago. Only problem is that I made enough for a family of 6 instead of just me!! Has lots of uncooked vegetables and other healthy stuff, so I guess I can eat junky for one night.

Hate to brag, but I have lost 40 pounds in the last 8 years--about five pounds a year. Reason, I think, is that I get a lot more exercise than I did when I was working in front of a computer all day. Other reason is that I cannot eat much at once, or it will kick off my irritable bowel disease. Even 3/4 of a McDonald's breakfast sandwich will set me off, so I eat a lot of small meals all day. A big problem is that by evening, I am really hungry and tend to overeat, causing problems. I am on a new medication that is helping, however, so I may end up gaining. Will have to be careful. Going to see a gastroenterologist in Ohio when I get there in June. One problem with losing weight, however, is that the number of wrinkles in my face and neck have quadrupled! And I have a bunch of floppy skin hanging from my upper arms. Ugh.

Tomorrow will be warmer because I will be in City of Rocks SP near Deming--lower altitude and farther south.

Just got home and fed Lola. Then she took a dump and is racing back and forth across the house like a maniac!  Too funny! Still has some crazy kitten in her!

Spooky has made friends with the long haired back and white kitty, who I named Snoopy. They come for food together now.

Worked a full day with an hour lunch. I work the next two days and then have 3 days off.

Winds have calmed down and is very nice out again. Storms coming in this week along the coast but not expected to reach here. Just some clouds.

That is about it here. Need to get caught up on my homework tonight.

It's already early Sunday morning, but I need to catch up. Friday started out as usual amd I headed to Curves. Checked my BP after, and it was quite low. Checked again in a couple hours and it was drastically high! Like 180/100 high! Never ever had it any where near that high before. Took it again in hour and still high so took the BP RX that Dr stopped two weeks before. BP continued very high, so around 11 I called insurance to speak to on call Nurse. She said call my DR. The on call DR said take another full dose of the BP RX and if it's now down in an hour, head to ER, so at around 2 I drove myself to ER. Much to my surprise, it was dead quiet there, even though it was Friday and a full moon! They did blood work and EKG, and asked tons of questions. They confirmed my home BP monitor was reading same as they were getting. Dr didn't want to give me more RX because of chance my BP could then suddenly drop and I'd fall on my nose. Said keep taking the Losartan RX but skip the diuretic as it may have been the cause of the side effects I had starting January. Call my Dr Monday. I got home around 05 and did a few things before turning out the lights. Slept until 10:30, got up for a whle, ate a little, then back to bed for a several hours nap. Got up, watched tv with son and ate a second meal. Now o bed and hope to sleep well. Hope you are having a. Better weekend tan I am.

Wow, Velda, that blood pressure thing is scary. :( Hope you find the cause, and can get it back down soon.

Beth, I too had gained a lot (10# +) of weight since that picture was taken. And it was affecting my health and energy. About Thanksgiving last year I decided I had to do something. I knew what to do; had just kept putting it off. I gave up sugar/ desserts almost entirely, and started exercising portion control at all meals. Generally that meant dividing what is considered a portion in half. Gradually and weather cooperating I was able to start walking regularly and with longer walks. It was slow going and I messed up a time or two, but now am just 1# from my goal....the weight I was when I arrived here after spending a year out West and hiking most every day. I do feel better and have more energy.

Liz, that is also what I need to do. I am addicted to sugar and I am now pre-diabetic. It is hard and sometimes I forget and buy a candy bar or three.

Liz, I know exactly what I'm doing wrong. It's just become a habit and I'm having trouble breaking it. I almost entirely quit sugar many years ago. I don't know if you remember when I bought an ice cream maker to make my own. No dairy and no sugar. I was good with that. I mention ice cream because it was the start of my leaving my good and healthy habits. Then quitting my good smoothies. My meals themselves are fine. Healthy and small portions. It's the junk that I'm eating now. So, I'm making a deal with myself to wean off the garbage again. I think when I realized what this weight is doing to my health was the final straw. And it's no one's fault but mine. So I need to be good to myself. By don't right. (Just frustrating that is so much easier to do wrong and be bad!) You've done great and I hope I can emulate it.
