Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Morning All, yesterday was gorgeous, sunny and warm. Drug the lavender plant back out to the balcony. Another nice day predicted so will sit outside. Looks like production of vaccine will increase so we will all have freedom to move outside of our homes. This virus has been so devastating and unknown. It is a wake up call for the country to be better prepared for any future problems. My world has become very small so no exciting news. Beth, I need to eat and stop freezing food too. Irmi, thanks for the casita pictures, this is so exciting. Wishing everyone a little sunshine, does a body good. Be safe

Good morning Everybody from beautiful and sunny Hartford. Purple crocuses are blooming on the south side of my house near the foundation. Yay, spring is on its way.
Irmi, I love that you have a music room in your casita; much more interesting than a big refrigerator. And congratulations to you and Steve for 48 years together. May you have many more.

Shirl, how was the crock pot Mac and cheese? That’s it for me. Hope it is a beautiful day where you are. Peggy

Peggy, I will make M & C in the crockpot again. The problem I found was resisting a second helping. It is important to stir often and sample pasta so you do not overcook. I put a large amount in the freezer so not sure how to heat. Will check a Stauffer box of M & C in the grocery store. :)

Good morning. Another decent day here today after it warms up to a whopping 52°, right now it is 36° but I see sun coming. Need to get stuff done today. Have to take all my cardboard to recycle, take a blind back to Home Depot. Get some paint to finish painting the trim where the boards were replaced when I got my new vinyl windows. Had dry rotted so they replaced the boards and it has been raining all the time but now have a few dry days so guess I will go for it. Stop at the grocery store as I want to make a big pot of soup to freeze for those chilly days. Then going out to early dinner with my neighbor as we are being shut down again as our illustrious governor moved us to the Extreme High Risk category. We were in the High Risk Category so restaurants, bars and gyms were open.

Our government said:
They said the change will be felt most by the county's small local businesses like restaurants, bars and gyms, even though the most recent rash of cases have been reported at other places like long-term care facilities, churches and schools.

Makes me mad as I dont see the difference of people eating in a tent outside or going inside where there is alot more room to spread out. I dont eat out much but occasionally. AND there is very little vaccine here in our county. We are between the 2 bigger cities Eugene and Medford. They seem to get way more vaccine. There is not even any place here to sign up (other than the govt site, need I say more) as no vaccine equals no appts. I think it will be months before I get mine...by then everyone elses immunity will have worn off as they dont know how long it lasts and I dont know how they will even be able to tell without drawing an antibody test. Oh well I will just continue in my little bubble.

Irmi your place is coming along nicely looking really nice. Congrats of 48 years. Bill and Carol are back in the USA. Hoping Tina had a good trip to pick up the pups.

It’s a beautiful sunny and sorta warm day here! At least until the rain moves in later this evening! But I’ll take what I can get. Good news for me today is that I was able to get an appointment for my first vaccine! And it isn’t far away. Walmart had an 800 number listed and I tried for an hour yesterday afternoon so finally gave up. My DS called about 6 and said to call the one store in State College since they were taking appointments over the phone from there too. Called and only waited a couple of minutes and got appointment for tomorrow afternoon! Called my friends and they got appointment for tomorrow too. Crazy how it worked out! I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to get a shot! I know I still have to be careful but somehow it’s a boost to my mindset! And they’ll set up the next appointment for 3 weeks out. They must have gotten a big supply since this is a 3 day event. I have a dentist appointment in awhile and then grab pup and try to get a walk and ride this afternoon. Gotta enjoy the sun while I can! Irmi, loved your pictures. Won’t be long before it’s done! Tina, so glad you’re feeling better! Barbie, I was looking at FB yesterday and read about things to see in Carlisle area and they mentioned Meadowbrook Gourds. They have a great website. I thought of you and thought it might be interesting for you to see. Love seeing lettuce growing and harvested and I’m wondering when we’ll see the ground! There’s hope when we have a day like today! Guess I’d better get a move on and get ready to head out. Have a good day and stay safe.

Sharon, I know your excitement. I just got off the phone with the hospital who cxld my 1st shot for Monday. They got the vaccines due in last week yesterday or this morning and I get my first shot tomorrow. Yippee.

The weather is beautiful. I'm about to take Ty for a second walk so we can enjoy it.

Karen, is Medford an option for you to sign up for vaccine. It is one thing to wait for vaccine but frustrating if you can not even get on a list.

Beth and Sharon, good news

I dont know Shirl, all the sites I looked at were booked. I am kind of over this struggling to get vaccinated. I think I will just wait until they have a glut of vaccine LOL My bubble is small so I really am not too concerned. I dont "gather", rarely eat out (which I think is really safe) dont go to movies, gyms, etc So think I will just carry on the way I am.

Karen, I agree with you on all counts. There is no where to "sign up" here either. After watching this process for a while, it seems that the more affluent areas are the areas that are receiving the vaccine, the less affluent (sometimes a LOT less) areas don't seem to be getting much vaccine at all.

For example, I checked online this morning on the website of my conglomerate medical provider (Sutter North). There was not an appointment to be had at any of their facilities anywhere near me in my very much less affluent area. And yet - about 140 miles from me, one-way (thus 280 miles round-trip - like this is going to happen) in an affluent area of the San Francisco Bay area, Santa Cruz (according to Google one of the most expensive places to live in the U.S.) had 150 (one-hundred-fifty!) appointments available!! I might have snagged one - but a seven or eight hour (or more) round-trip drive is just not something I can do.

Money talks, I guess.

I particularly agree with this part of your statement:
I think it will be months before I get mine...by then everyone elses immunity will have worn off as they dont know how long it lasts. . .
This is what worries me - by the time I am able to get the vaccine, probably months down the line, it might then be time for those currently vaccinated to get re-vaccinated.

So my "not-so-affluent" area might not get doses of the vaccine even then - if the vaccine priority is still given to those who live in affluent areas. We will just get elbowed out of the way.

Oh well. Just read that Johnson & Johnson is coming online in the vaccine department. One can only hope.

Beth, my appointment for my first shot is in the morning. I hope we can both celebrate tomorrow. There is a dense fog advisory for in the morning so I hope I can see to get to town. I called in a prescription to Walmart the other day and the recorded message said they don't answer questions about the vaccine or make appointments on the phone. They only have one person working the window and she is slow as Christmas so I haven't tried to find out if they are actually making appointments.

I went to the post office and the bank mostly just for something to do. It has been overcast most of the day but still got up to 75. It's still windy so I needed a jacket. That's about all the news from here.

spent some time outside doing those chores ie feed the birds, fill the generator, water plants, sit in the sun... was really warm out...even put up the umbrella to shade me... felt like I'd been in the sun for awhile soaking up the vit D
then got a barrel of water... there are some chores that having another body just helps... was trying to lift the barrel a bit to get more of the water and realized that the hose had come out of the fill in spot... grr. was going to get another barrel but didn't want to play in the mud  when I actually remembered to look at the gauge the green light was lit so although it would accept more not a full barrel so think I will take the barrel out tomorrow and just get some drinking water and go for mail tomorrow... hopefully all my tax information is there retirement hadn't come with the last delivery...
mom had her infusion today was going to call and chat but her phone went to voice mail and she hasn't called back will try to remember to call tomorrow...
I went out to start the generator and it started be it strange by time I got to the door it went out so tried again wouldn't start came in and fumed a bit when I took Shadow out tried it again and it started and is still going... not sure what the issue is but if the wind will allow me to check the oil tomorrow will do so... haven't looked but will be willing to bet it's past it's year warranty... :o
that was my day took an overly long nap... I've decided that it's the wind that wipes me out ... as good as an excuse as I can come up with...
need to put on my sweat shirt the wind has picked up and while out was just in a short sleeve top think I got chilled
that and had a salad for supper so no heat to speak up but during the day it was sssssoooo nice
you all have a good day

Really windy tonight, winds at around 38-39 MPH, and I even closed one of my slides because the slide topper was really making a lot of noise. I am a little worried that I have to drive tomorrow. Supposed to be slowing down to 30 by morning, which is still pretty windy. Heading east to Winslow through Kingman, where winds are supposed to be in lower 20s, and then to Flagstaff, where they get even lower. So, I guess I will drive but drive slowly. If it is still really rocking and rolling here, I will change my plans. (One thing about being in a motorhome without stabilizer jacks, is that whole vehicle really does rock and roll!)

Got my no-sew, cold weather drape finished, except I have to get some small screws to add two snap receptors on each side of my cab area. I tried it and the length is just perfect to reach the entire floor area and even go over the two seats to completely block off the area. I might need it in Winslow and in NM if it is still really cold there. I will stop on my way out of Laughlin to pick up some screws and also to get some office supplies in Kingman at Staples. I have been taking photos and will post them when all is done.

I did not take photos of my putting the snaps on the wrong side of the fabric and having to take them all out!!!
