Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday

Postby Shirlv » Fri Feb 19, 2021 10:01 am

Morning All, nothing falling from the sky at the moment. Hope this mess is finally moving out to sea. I’m drinking coffee with a cold pack on my hip. Spending most days in pjs, they are warm and comfortable. I do dress to get mail and empty trash. Sorry, I seem to say I a lot but it’s only me, myself and I living here. Received an email to register for second dose of Moderna, which I did. Edith had her second dose as did porch friend, does that mean it will be safe to get together after my second dose? I would have to get out of the pjs and dress, will think on that. :) Having taco salad for dinner. Chili from the freezer, lettuce and Stacey’s Pita Chips instead of shell. Be safe and pray for Texas.

Good morning Shirl. Who is your "porch friend"?

Texas is sure a big mess! I hope they get that resolved soon and the weather warms up soon!

I woke up early so am just perusing the internet until it is time to get up for work. Fell asleep on the couch last night, so I didn't get my clean clothes put away. Will get that done today. I really need to go thru my closet and drawers again and purge. I went thru my undies drawer yesterday and threw out about 15 pairs of panties! Still have way too many. I keep buying new ones because I don't like how the ones I have fit me, so I keep accumulating more. Too bad you have to buy 8 pair at a time! If the first pair you try doesn't fit comfortable, then the rest are no good either. What a waste!

I wrote and sent in my first two writing assignments for my autobiography class and got favorable remarks from the instructor, so that was good. Got two more lessons to do tonight. Nothing good on TV on Friday nights so will have time to do those.

Have a good day and stay warm and cozy!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

We’re having a heat wave! It’s 10* and just might get up to 20 this afternoon. After that it is supposed to continually rise….the down side is that it’s going to warm up enough that they are predicting to snow. Ugh. Guess I continue to binge watch on Netflix. I started watching Orange is the New Black. Oh my. After working in a prison for 17 years I find it interesting but if some of it is factual, women in prison certainly have more privileges than men. I have watched Bridgerton, The Crown, Fire Fly Lane and Yellowstone….I didn’t realize that the F word could be used so frequently and I’ve worked in a prison and bartended! I remember bartending after I retired from teaching and a guy said “F--- the f---ing f---er”. I had been tutoring English to at risk students and started diagraming it in my head….You as the understood subject…F--- as the verb….f---ing as an adjective and f---er as the direct object. Ahhh…the joys of “adult daycare”. :D

Well that’s my rather dicey itty bitty news for today. Have a good one.

Another week ending...I continue to do nothing. Our days are. Sunny and cool. Do believe I’m depressed. Had a problem with prescription in new glasses. Quite complicated to get them fixed. They will be fixed, just takes patience to go through all the steps. Glad I have my daughter (retired Optometrist) to help.
Pat, enjoyed your post!

Mornin' ladies~~~

Since Texas was mentioned, thought I'd pop in and give you an update from the Corpus Christie area.

For me personally, propane and water were major needs. Found a propane place about 35 miles north and got some before they ran out and did get water. Last night of below freezing temps will be tonight. I booked another week where I'm parked incase any cold repairs may be needed.
Punkin and I are OK. Sun is out today. It's probably been a week since it's been out.

I posted the below on FB
*****
I have never seen stores so depleted of stock. Walmart and HEB have NOTHING!

NO meat.
NO dairy.
NO frozen foods.
NO snacks.
NO bakery.
NOTHING!!!

OK, they did have coffee, pharmacy items, seasonal and home decor. Somehow I did time it right to pick up one case (24 count) of water as they were bringing it out. Limit one per customer.

Barbie, I have my packages shipped to the porch of a friend. I would rather not go to the apartment complex package room and root throw umteen packages looking for mine.

I wrote this once then my finger slipped and it disappeared ! Trying again!
It's a drizzly morning here but clearing later, I think. I have Curves in an hour. Then to vaccine clinic at 2:15. Hope they don't cancel last minute. As to question, can I just be with friends again after second shot? The current immunizatiins are not 100%. ESP with the new variants, which it's unknown still how well current vaccines help, I'll continue to be cautious until I hear otherwise. Have a good day everyone.

Pat, I enjoyed your lesson. lol The moderator of one of the women only camping facebook groups was complaining about getting so many messages from Facebook about posts. Considering some of the things my son posts I don't know what a bunch of women could post that Facebook doesn't like. I found out I could "snooze" people for 30 days. I have snoozed 3 people so I don't see all the political crap they post. They need to find out if something is true before they repeat lies. I have a cousin that's going to be next. So many of her posts have been flagged as false that it looks like she would learn.

Cheryl, I hope the roads clear so the food trucks can start heading to Texas. It only got down to 30 last night instead of the 26 that was predicted. It's up to 48 now. The weather channel is saying 23 tonight. They can be wrong again for me. I have a campout in two weeks and hope I don't have any problems when I fill my tanks back up. I talked to the guy that has calves here at the feed store and he hasn't seen any broken pipes. Hope he is right.

Velda, the vaccine, two weeks after you get the second, is supposed to be fully able to help you. They are finding vaccinated people who are carrying and thus spreaders, but are not showing symptoms. So the vaccine is protecting those vaccinated from getting ill. It is recommended to continue social distancing and wearing masks for the foreseeable future. That said, if all of you are fully vaccinated, you can probably be more willing to get together inside, etc. But, in your case, without your son vaccinated, I probably wouldn't let up at all until after then.

My 1st vaccine scheduled for Monday has been cancelled. The hospital called and said weather delays have kept their dosages for next week from arriving. I'll be called as soon as they have the vaccines or when they know they'll receive them. Ah, so close. Hopefully it won't be long.

Laundry day here. Three small loads done and the heavy stuff is still hanging to dry. I remembered to cut up and freeze the meat I purchased the other day. It's sunny and the nicest day this week I'm supposed to go visit, social distancing and masking, an RVing friend who's in the park now. I heard she invited others and I'll probably only stop and say hi . If they are really being careful, I might stay a little longer. After all this time I'm not going to do anything I shouldn't now.

Tomorrow I'll help decorate the golf cart for the parade later in the day. These 3 women definitely followed protocol when we got together last week to put together the decorations.

If you enjoy binge-watching, I would like to recommend the British mini-series "Broadchurch". My only suggestion is - don't start watching it late in the evening, because you won't be able to stop.

You will probably be up all night. . .

It is excellent.

Enjoy!

Pat, I have known people who's every other word is the "f" word. Gets old really quick! I only use it if I am in a lot of pain!

Lyn, is there a hobby you can pick up to keep you busy? Boredom can cause and/or increase depression. Can you get on your scooter or in your car and go to a local park, like Mission Bay or Balboa Park? Just sit and watch people and listen to the birds and see the boats (if you are at Mission Bay), enjoy the fresh air. That always peps me up.

Cheryl, glad you are doing OK down in Texas.

I got off work at 1:30. It was dead and no sense having 3 of us sitting there doing nothing. I stopped at Hobby Lobby for a "few" things. Then stopped at a restaurant for lunch. Sat out on their back patio and had a plate of potato skins. They were so good!

Need to get moving and get something done around here...

Good evening, had a fun day today doing errands and cruising thru the thrift shops. Didnt buy too much but found a couple of useful things to help me organize my cupboards. I might try to find something to watch on tv tonight as I agree nothing much on Friday nights. I dont like too many shows where it seems the only word they know if F this and F that. I am not a prude by any means but it does get old after a while. I find it is mostly the police, detective type shows. Anne I will check out Broadchurch see if I would be interested in it.

I am eligible for the vaccine on the 22nd but I dont even know if we have any LOL I am not all that eager as just because I get vaccinated nothing is going to change for me anyway. I will continue to use precautions. I did eat lunch out today and we were well spaced and everyone was masked that was serving us. Good to see you posting Lyn. I think about you often and the fun we had camping.
Cheryl I call you one hardy pioneer woman LOL I sure hope your weather warms and you get back to normal camping with zero damage to anything.

I just sold my Motorhome. I just dont have time to use it nor is there too many places to go anymore. Out here most of the RV parks now only have a few spaces available for "transients". Very hard to get a reservation and our state parks are almost impossible so seemed like a wise decision. I can always buy another smaller RV if circumstances change but right now I am good with my decision.

I have unfollowed or snoozed a great number of people. I thought after the election they would stop. But now they are just posting derogatory political posts of anybody they can with Biden being the main target. I dont know if he will be good or bad for us but dang I am just sick of it, it is over, one lost, one won, live with it. Okay that rant is over LOL

Immunization clinic was well organized and efficient. Longest wait was in observation after. All good here. Yes Beth I'm aware of what you wrote. They still don't know when the new 16 and older but not yet 65 people who governor authorized added to eligible for vaccine, will actually be added in, but they all knew its coming. Just glad number 1 is done and appointment for 2 is on record.
Did Curves then went for vaccine. Exercising arm as instructed- I did 10 pulls ups amd 10 chinUps on total gym and will do again later.
Have a good evenng. Our rain clouds broke as I was at clinic and as I drove home, to my right (west) it was sunny and to left (east) it was dark grey wet looking clouds headed up over the Sierras wher I hope it squeezes out a few feet of snow, AKA our summer water storage !

Good evening everyone.
It has been a quiet week here. I managed to snag a Covid vaccine appointment for today. I had to drive 50 miles to the site but it was worth it. My second appointment is March 12th. Looking forward to having that out of the way.
Only side effect thus far is sore arm at injection site. I will take two more tylenol with muscle relaxants at midnight. That should get me through the night.
That is all my itty bitty news.
Take care all and keep safe.

all is done that I wanted to do at my sister's so guess I will go home tomorrow was going to anyway... just didn't want to leave the kitchen a total mess. made the Brazilian lime-aid was really good and really quite easy lots of clean up but that wasn't the recipes fault  I brought my nija blender hoping it would work it didn't :? so transferred the stuff over to the food processor hoping it would but I rarely use one and guess I didn't have things in the way it should have been like the blade  some how we had liquid all over the place... her dogs will consume anything actually is scary... they lapped up the milk water limy flavored stuff that got on the floor...because we didn't know how much stuff was lost I just added in the rest of the can of sweetened condensed milk and more water... tasted good so if you want to make it don't use a nija it won't work food processor might this was a big one...
mom is resting I guess ok... the MRI showed another compression fractures guess because of her age they can't give her anything stronger... but she has a consult appt on Monday hopefully this will give us ideas of what they can do... and when
I have 4 dd's the eldest lives in Ogden Utah... when it was discussed about needing someone to come stay with her for after care from the vaccine she said she would come up... I have 2 daughters that live together # 3 lives with #2 and her husband and family... so my third daughter went over on Monday or Tuesday not sure which day my brother had to go back home so she came over to be with my mom then last night # 1 came and tonight # 2 came over and so they sent #3 home to rest.. Not sure if she will she is very close to my mom... but she also has anxiety plus other issues... so she needs to rest so she doesn't go into a depression... I am very appreciative of my daughters for all they are doing... I think #3 works in the office this week but that doesn't let anyone be with mom during the day not sure what will need to be done.. I guess it will work out will need to...
I need to finish up so I can get most of my stuff ready to go so I can leave somewhat early... I do want to get the sheets into washer and into the dryer before I leave... figure if I at least get them into the dryer if ignored for a time they won't go bad...
have a great day
