Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday

Good morning. It’s been quite messy mess weather wise here and sounds like not just in my area! We’ve had snow and ice and although the temp is above freezing now we have a strong wind. So just a mess. And from the sound of it we aren’t as bad as other areas of the country. At least we’re somewhat prepared and used to it unlike other areas. I was supposed to pick up my son after he had a procedure done today. He called about 9 this morning and said they wanted him to come in as soon as he could be there. Luckily his older son’s classes were cancelled today so he is going to get his dad. Sorry kid, you can’t sleep all day! But it saves me from having to do an 80 mile round trip to do it. So now I can jump on the hospital’s website to try to get an appointment for the COVID vaccine. Try is the keyword here! And I can get out and work on the shoveling this mess. And another front supposed to be coming in tomorrow afternoon into Thursday. Yuck! I really don’t like winter! Smack me up the side of my head next time I moan about rain and long grass to mow! I hope all of you are staying safe if you are dealing with this weather. I’m just thankful that we haven’t lost power. The rest I can deal with. Have a good day and stay warm and safe.

It got down to 18 last night. It is only up to 26 but the sun is out. It's melting the ice that isn't in the shade. I needed to dump two bucks of cat litter and knew I wouldn't make it down the hill without sliding down. Went and got the golf cart. Darn it's cold. I keep going out with just a fleece jacket and that's not enough.

My son has a doctor's appointment for his ankle at 8:00 in the morning in Abbeville. I want him to come spend the night here so I know he will make it. I don't know what the roads will be like in the morning and it's only 10 miles from here instead of 40. I need to find the air pump. My tires are showing that they are low because it's so cold. I have had enough of this cold. Don't you know in a week it's going to be 70 again.

Hi ladies and all that follow~~~
Dang it's cold! But you know that. I'm about 30iles north of Corpus Christie Texas. Left the SP I was in early. Absolutely nothing around which would have been OK if warmer weather, but not if something happened with this cold.

Canceled my reservation at a Lake Corpus Christie SP too, and moved to a campground that is basically across the street. FHU. Not that I'm using them. Filled the tank and bought extra propane. So far so good. Keeping fingers crossed on the pipes and using the shower house since I'm worried about using water heater. Another cold front coming Friday and this one isn't gone yet! And as Martha said, it's supposed to be in the 70s next week.

That's my news. A but longer than Itty bitty. Stay safe and warm ladies!

Cheryl, hope you don't have any problems. Good idea to not be in the boondocks if you have problems. This is the first time I have ever winterized a motorhome other than putting antifreeze in the drain traps and running heat. I keep getting messages to conserve electricity and not use appliances that use a lot of electricity. I was thinking about baking something but changed my mind and having microwave frozen pizza.

On some facebook camping group I read a post from a woman that went all the way to Brownsville, TX trying to get away from the cold. I had given that some thought but she said it was in the 20's in Brownsville.

It has warmed up to 32. If it hits 40 I'm going to town. lol

Hello All,
Cheryl, I’ve been thinking about you freezing in Texas. Glad to hear that you moved into a campground and hopefully won’t lose electricity. We are doing okay here in CT. It has warmed up to above freezing so no sleet or freezing rain. Snow expected later in the week, but that’s normal.
Barbie, I miss your posts. Is everything okay with you?
I don’t even have any itty bitty news to share. Stay well everybody. Peggy

Checking in again. The body seems to cooperative and making progress. I am managing to maintain my weight and gaining more tolerance to moving around and sitting in a chair. Hoping that when the weather breaks here in Ohio Lark will find time to take me out in the yard and make me walk.

I'm sorry for everyone in this terrible weather, us included! Our wonderful neighbor just shoveled our sidewalk and driveway! It had a huge pile at the end where the snowplow came through. it has warmed up to 12 but feels like -3 ! The forecast tomorrow night is for freezing rain. I'm still terrified the power will go out. It isn't supposed to get above freezing until Saturday. DH says I am not an optimist. The dogs don't usually mind the cold and snow but they are not dawdling when they go out. Thankfully Emma is still at her 'other home', her energy would make me crazy. She is used to walking 3-4 miles a day plus all the training so she gets bored here.
Stay safe as you can everyone!

Glad to hear you are making progress Tina!!

Hi ladies!

Tina, I'm so happy to hear you're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I know it's been a struggle but love reading the improvements you're making.

Shirl, I hope you are able to manage your back pain.

For all of you in the cold temperatures way below normal, I hope this ends soon for you. I friend of mine in Texas is having rolling blackouts since yesterday because of the hard weather. She said she thought she would freeze yesterday until she got her power back. Fortunately, here in central FL, we've been in the low to mid 80's. Today is much cooler but sunny with a high of 67. I hope all of you get a break soon from the cold.

The casita is coming along. We bought the vanity this week which is sitting in the shower. The kitchen cabinets will be delivered and installed this Monday. We picked out the floor tiles yesterday and they should be installed the first week of March. Once that is done, the furniture will arrive shortly thereafter. Once the kitchen cabinets are installed, I'll post a picture to show you what's going on. We spend a lot of time on our patio which we both enjoy, with TV on, Steve reads & I color.

Today is Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday. We have celebrated pancakes and sausage day as far back as I can remember, so that will be our dinner.

Have a good day!

Hello All!
I am so sorry for those of you caught unexpectedly in this winter mess! Lots of misery in many places. I'm thankful my entire winter hasn't been like this past week - it could have been. One week of below freezing 24/7. Due to the hassle of having propane tanks refilled, I have kept the furnace at 54 degree and me under a heated throw. Today it's above freezing so space heater is on and chores getting done. Woohoo! We got more winter over the weekend than originally predicted so still no Sling on the road. :( I haven't been off the campsite since January 3. The kids have taken great care of me.

Tina, so happy to see your continued recovery! Liz, I hope Bob is healing well. Shirl, I hope you are okay. BJ, I always enjoy seeing your lovely cards! Irmi, progress! Beth, I hear you about staying under the covers! Peggy, I also wonder how many books, TV, puzzles, etc.! Happy some have gotten or are scheduled for the vaccine. I'm on a waiting list of over 2,000 and really no supply. They gave 100 firsts and have the 100 2nd doses.

To all, be safe and well!

Yay Tina!

Cheryl, I learned the hard way that when the temps are really low you either must drain and winterize the hot water tank or keep it heated. Otherwise if that water water freezes, a crack can develop. Yep, been there done that. I got stuck similar to many of you were a couple days with highs in the low teens and lows, well less than that. I was lucky that my crack was small and I was able to use something, forget what, to get somewhere better to get a new water heater. But I now always have my water heater on if it's going to drop below about 25 or so for more than a very short time. The water holding tank won't freeze if kept with enough water in it, at least on most rigs.

My thoughts to all of you dealing with this cold, etc. I won't complain about our minor drop here. Arizona's lucky this time around.

Irmi, it's always fun to see updates on your casita.

Good to hear from you, Tina, and really good that you are able to eat enough to keep your weight up. It has got to be hard to be stuck inside when the weather is so bad. March and April are on their way, at least! And green grass and leaves on trees??

I am happy to be at Willow Beach Marina again, which is on the Colorado River, about 13 miles south of Hoover Dam. We are right on the edge of the really cold weather, so happy to be here for a week. I spent most of today driving to Las Vegas to get my new Backup camera installed. My old one was black and white, or should I say grey and grey, and almost useless because it was fuzzy. This one was expensive, but it is color and has a wide enough angle that I can see my bike on the back and also the entire roadway behind me!! Yea! However, I have been having problems with my taillights and running lights, and had an auto electrical guy stop by last week. He checked the entire length of the wire, but could not find anything wrong. He did replace the fuse, as several others have done, but as usual it burned out again in a couple of hours. Camping World put in a larger fuse and it was burned out by the time I got back to the campground. So, still no night driving for me. I am going to call Fleetwood as soon as I get cell service.

I think i mentioned that I had reservations for February in New Mexico, but they cancelled all state park reservations with only 36 hours' notice. I had to scramble and drive a bit farther, but this place has two washers and two dryers, which i desperately needed. Would you believe I have not done laundry for 5 weeks??? I've been washing out undies and a few pairs of shorts in my bathroom sink, but luckily I have a ton of t-shirts. I like to take t-shirts out of the dryer before they are completely dry because I don't want them to shrink, so I have them hanging all over my RV. It is dry here and I turned on the little heater, so they are finally drying and I can put them away.

Tomorrow, I am going to try to finish a project I started a few months ago. Will show you all photos when it is done. Basically, it is a longer and wider privacy curtain for my cab, except it will be a good curtain to use in cold weather because it will be long enough to go all the way to the floor and heavy enough to keep it warmer in the rest of the RV. I get a lot of drafts in cold weather from the cab, so this is my solution.

Hope this cold weather gets better for those of you stuck in it.

Judy, you'll love that new divider. I use a king size blanket I can easily put on and off. It doesn't have to go to the ceiling as I tuck it under the cushions in my overcab and it hangs down from there. I used to have a curtain from the roof, but it wasn't as heavy and then I couldn't watch TV without it open, so this was my solution. I look forward to your pictures. And I think you're lucky to not be in New Mexico right now. A couple of my friends have been dealing with frozen pipes, etc. Just as I think I'm lucky that I decided against going to southern Texas this winter. Strange weather winter, for sure.

So the mobile mechanics fixed one water issue and are coming back tomorrow because now my water tank is filling when I use water. Sounds like a valve. If they did it, I'll have no charge. If it wasn't from them, I'll get to turn over more money.

was it doing it before they played around Beth? if not I would assume that somehow they caused it... however how do you prove it??? its like the brake light that I have on... had the front brakes done last winter went back because the brake light was on constantly they couldn't find anything wrong still on when I got to Ut took it to the shop they looked and looked and finally decided that some wire got cut or broken or something where the brakes are so to fix it would be costly like having to redo the brakes costly...so I ignore the brake light..
did some laundry today fixed supper not sure what I did talked with my sister and visited with my mom understand better what they are planning on doing according to my brother... first she has to have a MRI tomorrow... then when they know more what her compression fractures are they will fill the fracture with a cement of sorts to make it stronger. But in the mean time she really hurts... my dd is there says she had to help her to the bathroom... as she had a hard time getting out of the chair..
my brother said that he doesn't think she can go another winter alone... with that I am not sure that I will make it down to AZ this coming winter... as I am the logical person to stay with her... I feel like the worst daughter as I truly don't want to you know get your own plan but I also know that if that is what she needs will do it... I am so not in love with winter... :? need to get the positive vibes going and think of how to make it work without being a snot about it... I've had nieces that have stayed with her for summer work ect they just move in and leave all that is there (Mom has clothes in all three bed rooms... :o ) and she wears very few of them... I will want some of my needs there or what I consider needs...
my dd who is with her right now says mom if you move in with her some how they (meaning my brothers) will need to come and let you leave when you need to... her son's in laws were kept at home due to elder care for several years.. and no one would spell them... My mind is just not just stopping oh well we will see what the summer brings
one of my brothers is still working and working in a field where he is exposed a lot to the virus
another brother as a handicap daughter hand she as well as his wife needs him at home
another brother and wife could but not sure that they will do it more than occasionally
my sister is handicapped as well
logically it's me
oh well enough of my whining
