Saturday, everybody sleeping in?

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday, everybody sleeping in?

Postby Bethers » Sat Feb 13, 2021 1:52 pm

I'm here and made it to my meeting this morning. I have some talents, but shouldn't be counted on to draw anything. That said, I had another lady write what was necessary on a poster and I then used colored markers and glitter over her pencil marks. Then I helped another lady there figure out how to make her poster more dazzling. Just don't ask me to draw lol We'll do the actual decorating of the golf cart Tuesday morning. Parade Tuesday afternoon. Our cart won't be spectacular, but we're all happy with it.

Now I can be a bum the rest of the day.

Beth, it's funny, you are having Mardi Gras where you are and most celebrations have been cancelled in Louisiana. Some of the campgrounds will probably have golf cart parades. I think about 3 went to the scheduled campout in Natchitoches and it is probably freezing up there. It's 43 here. I drained the water out of the motorhome and put antifreeze in the traps. I will run the heat. Just hope we don't lose power because I'm all electric. The guy that has the cattle wrapped the pump for me.

I haven't bought any more of the Snaps because I can't find them. The only time I saw them they were on an end cap at Walmart. They aren't with the crackers or with the chips. I'm trying to stay on my diet and I don't need more snacks. I'm watching Lidia cook on PBS which is not a good idea either. lol

Beth, not sleeping in just tired of nasty weather, being shut in and dealing with back pain again. Everyone in my circle is in a foul mood. I’m sure people across the country feel the same way. Lack of sunshine makes it worse. Anne, Maryland is moving ahead with phases too. Not everyone in my age group wants the vaccine so they move to the next phase. Doesn’t mean you won’t get first priority. The rule here is, if say the health department doesn’t use their allotted vaccine for the week they must send it elsewhere so they need more people ready to receive the doses. They can’t hold vaccine waiting for a specific group. It has just changed here now the health department knows how much vaccine they will get for the next month instead of weekly. They can schedule more appointments. The vaccine has to be kept cold. I watched two people in the center of the fire hall draw up syringes from vials that came out of an ice chest. Vaccinators came and picked up 3 syringes at a time, they continually walked back and forth, quickly inject 3 people, pick up 3 more syringes, etc. It was very organized and the people working had to be exhausted at the end of the day. You were injected, moved to person who recorded you were vaccinated in a computer then you sat for 15 minutes. EMTS, we’re on hand and watching. No one had a reaction while I was there. I know it isn’t the same everywhere but hopefully it will get better as allotments are increased. Be safe

Wow! It is viciously windy right now!! :o On the way home from work, the visibility was down to less than half a mile in places with dust and sand! Can't see the mountains at all. The palm trees are bending way over and dropping lots of fronds all over. The sky is just brown all over with the dust! Gusts up to 75 mph all thru the valley. Sounds like a hurricane out there!

Was at the other shop today. Worked with 2 guys who came from other shops and also the new girl who just started today. She is right out of school. We all helped her out with advice and showing her tips and ideas on different haircuts, etc. She didn't do any haircuts today, just learning how to check customers in and out on the computer and did sweeping and laundry. She is very nice and I think she will work out there very well.

My cough is finally going away. Whew! Been so annoying! Just an occasional tickle now.

Today is my mom's birthday. She would have been 97. She passed away 14 years ago. :(

No plans for Valentine's Day other than work. Just another day for me. :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Oh my gosh, Barbie, you have me worried. It's super windy here also. My rig is rocking and creaking and I can't imagine if your 75 mph gusts get here what that'll do. I can't imagine taking Ty out a last time tonight.

Shirl, I'm sorry the back pain is worse again. Pain makes everything harder to deal with.

Since I'm a hermit a lot of the time anyway, I've handled keeping to myself more than most, I think. Today with the other 3 ladies, all masked and working outside, was nice though. I'm not missing going in stores. I'm hoping pick up for groceries remains forever. Then I could run in for a couple things but mainly continue as I've been doing. Heck, I'm even getting to the point of buying too much this way. Martha mentioned not being able to find the specific crackers. They were easy to find online. Lol l

Meantime, I'm watching a new Hallmark movie.

Sheila, Hot Chocolate Bombs are simply a hard chocolate shell, filled with Cocoa mix and sometimes tiny marshmallows and peppermint bits, even some tiny chocolate chips, and sealed with melted chocolate. Drop in hot milk and stir. Lots of recipes and directions on YouTube.

I don't begrudge anyone getting the vaccine that wants to get it - I'm just puzzled that California seems to be opening up the a new tier when there isn't any vaccine to be had for those in the current tier.

Not complaining, just puzzled at the reasoning.
