Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday

Postby Othersharon » Fri Feb 12, 2021 1:59 pm

Good afternoon! Not much news from here. Just staying in and keeping warm cause it’s really cold outside. A good day to curl up on the couch with a book. Unfortunately I have some house cleaning to do first! Although there is always tomorrow! Sue, you can come to my house and help me paint. I got some paint awhile ago but not sure I like the color enough to continue. We’ll see! Just waiting for the next round of snow. Supposed to get more this week end and then a mixture on Tuesday and they seem to be sticking to that forecast the closer it gets. I have an appointment on Tuesday in State College so hope by the time I have to go the worst will be over and roads cleared. Driving in snow is bad enough but ice will have me canceling the appointment. Hate to do that since this was made a year out! That’s about all from here today. Hope you all stay warm and safe.

Got my first shot. Was fast, pleasant, organized and safe. Bought myself a chocolate milk shake because I was a good girl and didn’t cry.

Thanks for the great info, Evie. Will try that as soon as I get to NM near Santa Fe. Glad to hear others are getting shots, at least.

Chilly and rainy today, but I got my taillights checked out yesterday and they work! Hopefully, they stay working. Got lots of work to do indoors today, so will be short post.

I'd love the interior of my casita to be painted, but I don't do it. I'd get more paint on everything but the walls. And Shirl, I love that reason for a chocolate shake. I'm in!

I slept hard about 4 or so hours last night, then was wide awake forever. Then fell asleep, turned off my alarm when it rang, and, of course, missed my first committee meeting I planned to attend. There was such a large turnout for the second that I didn't stay. I knew it's one that people join because it's easy. There's others if be better suited to and will make sure to join when I'm here the whole season sometime.

That's my news for today. I know, boring.

Sounds like my nights, Beth. Sleep for a while. Wake up. Trouble getting back to sleep. Get to sleep, wake up again. Turn off alarm. Back to sleep. Over 10 hours, lucky to get 7 hours of sleep.

I feel very blessed to live where I do. Bob and I received our 2nd Covid vaccine this morning with no agony of trying to schedule, and no line. We “elderly” are well-cared for here. My brother and SIL in south Florida, Englewood area are going through the same thing a lot of you are. Hours trying to get through online only to be told their list was full or something like that. How frustrating that must be. Praying all that want to receive it will have it available soon.

My dd drove up from Tampa area today for a short visit so we could take care of some business that required both our signatures. It sure was nice to see her. It’s been a long time.

No other news today.

If I ever get my shot I'm going for a milk shake. A friend told me to call the local hospital because they were suppose to be getting some vaccine. They took my name and age and said someone will call me. Yea, right. I was going to sign up at Walmart but the same couple was standing at the window the whole time I was in Walmart. Not waiting in line.

It was storming again last night and woke me up. I don't know if Sugar thinks the thunder is someone driving up but she want to go out and back in and out again. We have received 3 inches of rain in the last 2 days. It never got over 40 today and the sun never came out. I need to get out a heaver coat. The wind feels like it's blowing through my jacket.

I changed a gasket in the toilet tank and it looks like it's holding water. Hope that was the part I needed. Good thing I have several jugs of RV antifreeze because Walmart is out. If it looks like it is really going to get down into the teens I'm going to drain my tanks.

made it to Vegas yesterday but was tied up with visiting so was MIA yesterday but have caught up with all the itty bitty news... I kept thinking of what it was that I was going to say the other day and it's generally almost there ... but since I can't go back while I am typing will just forget I hope :?
making goulash for supper did dishes they have a problem with the dish washer so hand washed a lot what happened was a spoon melted on the heating element ... any ideas how to get the residue off??? I don't mind washing dishes by hand when it's one or two but three? Nope don't want to do that...
my mom's back has been bothering her enough that she wanted to go to the dr wow she wanted to go to the dr??? :o so she has been in for test x-rays doing blood work anemic again but not a surprise the majority of the food she eats is from meals on wheels which is good she doesn't have to prepare it ect but she also isn't getting enough protein she needs more of the protein than what she gets... and she will not take iron as she was told years ago and we are talking when I was young that she doesn't process the iron in the capsules. So hopefully it was caught quicker this time last time the dr said if she hadn't come in that night to the hospital she probably wouldn't have survived... she is home and one of my brothers came over to be with her.. she is scheduled for her second vaccine on the 19th... hopefully this won't change things...
listened to a singer the other day that liked his voice well enough I looked him up on google on my phone where the mic is click on it and it will ask if you want a song searched words to that effect click on it hold it up to what is playing and it will show you who that artist is and if you want you can see the lyrics neat thing so enjoy it.... this artist was Paul Davis so enjoyed his song... would like to put him on Pandora so when I listen to it can hear more of his music
suppose to be windy tomorrow not looking forward to that but not in the trailer so shouldn't feel it like I normally do
you all take care

Yesterday I worked at the other shop. I glanced at their schedule and noticed they had me scheduled there for this past Monday. No one told me that. Then this morning when I got to my shop for work, I got a text from the manager of the other shop saying they have a new girl starting and would I show her around and get her set up there. I was really confused since I wasn't scheduled there for today. My manager told me the other manager was confused and thought today was Saturday, not Friday. So I guess tomorrow when I get to that shop I will be expected to get this new gal set up. Not sure why I am doing that since I barely know where things are at that shop. I am just filling in there and all of a sudden I am in charge of the new stylists. They sure aren't very organized and the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing!

Was not to busy this morning but got really busy in the afternoon, so I am tired tonight. Am hoping tomorrow will be a short day.

I found someone here in the park that has extra pieces of lattice that I can have so I picked up a small piece this morning that will fit along that last area of my deck.

Sure am glad I am not in MN right now! Brrr! Sure don't miss those below zero frigid temps! We have had a lot of wind today. Winds tomorrow will be gusting up to 60 mph so there is a high wind warning for most of southern CA. It was raining in the mountains this morning and I saw a rainbow coming up from behind the mountains. It was really cool!

Good night :D

Hey, Sheila, maybe one of the kids can keep her supplied with high-protein finger foods, like hard-boiled or deviled eggs, cottage cheese, cheese sticks, protein bars, and even Boost, etc. Things she can pick up and eat without preparing or cooking them.

Which reminds me, I need to get some sliced beets and more eggs so I can make pickled beets and eggs!

Speaking of eggs, I knew mine were getting old so today I decided to see if everything I've heard about making hard boiled eggs in the pressure cooker is right. It is. So now I will get rid of my microwave egg cooker. Not that it's heavy or takes up too much space, but it's now obsolete for me. And Martha, I'm blaming you for the Cheezits, forget what they're called, but after you talked about them one day I added them to a grocery order and couldn't think what to snack on tonight when I was hungry. I opened those and couldn't stop eating them. I did, but had to force myself. Thin and with more of a crunch. Yum.

Off to bed because I do have to get up tomorrow. I'm committed to help do some work helping decorating one or more golf carts for our Mardi Gras parade. I'm glad they picked tomorrow for this as the weather is going downhill starting Sunday.

Beth they are called Snaps my dd picked some up last summer and I sampled them and since then bought two or three bags forgot to bring mine with me  they are good and additive
good idea Judy although I personally don't think she would drink boost but devils eggs she would we need to try and keep some things like that there for her what she does is eat half of the meals on wheels and eats the rest later which is simply not enough calories... and a good part of the weekly meals is chicken and some times red meat is better in providing iron... but that is simply my humble opinion... she also hasn't been fixing toast as she normally does in the morning nor drinking as much milk as she usually does... she eats better when someone is there to eat with her... but that isn't very often a doable.. it's looking more and more like I will need to move in with her... not what I want to do but might be what needs to happen although I don't necessarily want to take the choice from her... guess we will see how this summer goes
thanks for the ideas

You are very fortunate, Liz.

I just read online this morning that California is "opening up" the vaccine eligibility to those 16 to 64 years of age with pre-existing conditions.

This is "interesting", because it is already impossible for seniors here in Northern California to find any kind of vaccine appointment - or even find a wait list to sign up on. This is what I am seeing this morning on websites for facilities in my area (I check once or twice per day):

________

SCHEDULE OF COVID 19 VACCINATION

Due to a lack of vaccine supply we are currently unable to book appointments for a first vaccination until further notice.
________

"Until further notice. . ." That doesn't sound good at all. And yet, a whole new group probably composed of some few million individuals are now "eligible" to receive the vaccine. To be clear, I don't begrudge anyone getting the vaccine - but one would think that those currently eligible might be vaccinated before further eligibilities are opened.

But I guess not. I have been self-isolating here at my home since March 18 of 2020. Nearly a year's time. And you know what? I feel blessed to have a home to isolate at, and further blessed to have the ability to have grocery delivery (and, of course, Amazon delivery) sent to my front door.

Life is good. And, no, I am not being sarcastic here. I truly do feel this way, but do also look forward to the time when I might see and embrace my children once again.

Hopefully, by the end of this year. Hopefully. . . As Karen often states, "We shall see".
