Ah yes. Winter.
Looking to be mid-70's here today. Rain in the forecast, but who knows? So far this year there have been lots of "forecasts", but very little rain.
Next-door neighbor has
jumped on the downed-fence project, looks like he is doing an excellent job. Last evening there was nothing out there (he had previously dismantled the downed fence) this morning the framing of the fence is up, posts in the ground, and cross-members nailed top and bottom! WooHoo!
A truly BEAUTIFUL sight!! Best part of all, I haven't had to do any of the labor, although I am waiting for him to tell me my portion of the cost, including his labor (which I am more than happy to pay).
He started work at about dusk yesterday, I don't know how late he worked (I could see lights out there) and this morning when I looked out the framing was UP! Woo-hoo!
Speaking of "up". . . I have lettuce up in my plastic tubs!! I had also re-planted lettuce, carrots, cabbage and broccoli in my cold frame at the same time as I planted in the tubs (seed was planted in the cold frame for the
third time). . . the cold-frame plants came up in lovely rows. . . the plants in the cold frame are now
completely gone (again).
However, the plants in the plastic tubs appear to be flourishing! Another week or so and I should be able to pick the random lettuce leaf.
YUM!!
Still haven't posted photos of my "plastic tub gardening" project. . . will try to get this done later today. Have four more (a bit larger) plastic tubs, may drill holes in the bottoms of one or two of these as well (I also already have potting soil for these tubs, but am short on the scoria - lava rock - to put in the bottom of the tubs for drainage).
The seed I ordered for carrots are for carrots that only grow about four inches long (instead of the usual 7 or 8 inch varieties, so may try carrots in one of these tubs as well.
Tina, so GLAD to see you posting, and to read of your adventure to the fast-food place. You GO girl!!
Thanks!
Anne
