Good Morning. It’s o’dark thirty here in northern Michigan. A balmy 24 degrees out there though. Temps rose during the night ahead of a storm coming. Gonna enjoy the temps today as it’s heading downhill by this evening. Snow, wind and colder air headed in. Tonight and tomorrow, snow, winds gusting to 50 mph, whiteouts and blowing and drifting expected, followed by much colder air and lake effect snow through the weekend intonext week. Weather Alerts and Warnings are posted. We’ve had a really mild Winter so far, so can’t complain. Nothing new for us in terms of this kind of weather coming. Will just cause a lot of issues tomorow..

So I’m going to make a quick trip to town as forgot to check Cottage Cheese before I went shopping and will be out. Plus guess I will grab another bag of dog food and gas up my truck while I’m out. No use freezing at the pump next week. Then will hunker down and get to work with the paint brush and roller again. Looks like some good chili weather coming up. Maybe even some stew. Pups and I will enjoy a nice walk again this afternoon because sure as heck won’t be going tomorrow. They had their annual Hesrtworm checks yesterday, plus Piper got more meds for her bladder Infection and both got a general checkup, weighing in etc. Don’t need to tell you how much the bill was . They are going to have to get a job

So that’s my itty bitty news for today. Time to have a bit of breakfast and Eve tually hit the road. Take care all.

Morning All. Sue, sounds like you are ready for the coming storm, keep in touch. Anne, I like your clear storage container garden. Thought I could do the same but then remembered my neighbors balcony underneath me. Drainage from the bins would make a mess on her furniture. Will think on that. I checked, lettuce & spinach plants will be ready in early March for zone 7. Wonder if I can buy one bush bean plant, a pepper plant, wonder how much weight the balcony can bear. It’s fun plotting and planning since I have nothing else to do. Just a thought, can use container lid as a saucer to catch water drainage. A trip to Dollar General for a bin or two. Be safe

Sue, thanks for the heads up about the pending storm as it usually gets here the next day. I hope it’s delayed a bit as I’m getting my first vaccine shot at a drive through site at 2:00. My initial date was Feb 11, but that was cancelled by my medical center. Many more people can be done at one time with the drive through. Our governor asked our young medical college students and our young techies to volunteer to help with logistics and they have.

Anne, I love your idea of growing plants in the clear plastic bins. I did one winter planting in a gal milk jug, but I like your idea better.

Yesterday a friend and I met in a shopping mall parking lot and did the police car thing. Have you ever seen police pull up
head to tail and talk. I have a heated seat and with the heater going I was toasty warm even with the window down. We’ll do it again.

Today I have to go through emissions with my car, so I have something to do.... Peggy

Lark is enjoying being only dog an takes her nursing support duties very seriously. News of the day is both news And blessing I talked with my gastro doc last night and he told me to come into the hospital this morning and get my nasal feeding tube removed. Now my job is to concentrate on getting food down a d keeping it there. I am happy that you taste for milk has come back at least but I see Boost supplements for a while yet in my future. My excitement for to day will also come because I can now actually take a nice shower.

Stay warm stay healthy out there. Oh I almost forgot. I managed to snag a spot to get my COVID vaccine tomorrow. Definitely a feeling some gratitude.

I just watched our annual board meeting and talk about boring. I will head to the office this afternoon to grab a copy of the annual report though. That's mainly why I watched but it was only skimmed over.

For the disappearing lettuce and such, get what they call "hardware cloth" or chicken wire and make long cages for your plants. The hardware cloth needs to be snipped with a wire cutter, but you can fold it into a box or a tunnel with an open bottom and then just place them over the rows or pots of plants. No bunnies, rats, or whatever is eating your produce will be able to get at it. You can pull the covers off to pick whatever and then replace them.

When we moved into a newly built home next to a woods in the late 70s, we had a major rabbit problem. When the snow got deep, they had nothing else to eat, so gnawed off almost all of my newly planted shrubs right down to the snow level. At least I learned they liked pear trees but not peach trees and that burning bushes were especially yummy. When the snow melted, I had nothing but stalks and young trunks. Wire wrapped around the trunks and cages helped until the trees and shrubs got big enough that the rabbits could not reach the young growth.

It is cold and gloomy here. Earlier I noticed Mitzi liking her leg, so took a look. I have no idea what it is but it looks like a big red wart with a yellow spot in the center. My first thought was a bite but I can't imagine anything still being alive at this point of the winter. I sent the picture below to the vet and still waiting for an answer. Any thoughts? I didn't notice her licking her leg until she came in from outside near noon. The mobile groomerscame yesterday but I think she would have told me if she noticed anything. It doesn't look like a cut.

such good news Tina and you are in a house with indoor plumbing and can take as long of a shower as you want or feel up to..
wish I could say that a lot was accomplished but sadly none it was so windy that had no desire to do much if anything and what I did do can't even be remembered... did some reading should have knitted or crocheted but reading was what I wanted to do... perhaps tomorrow or not!!! my clean counters now have stuff on them as I cleaned off the stand to move it after I vacuumed didn't happened want to toss Shadow's pillow out and let it air some would have been a good day except it was so windy I think it would have taken flight...
didn't do water either friends haven't come back with the pump not sure what that means but now am using the jugs of water as we register empty very empty

Tina I'm sure that you have done this but just in case you might try mini meals so you don't get over whelmed with what you should eat... 6 meals a day instead of 3 would spread it out just a thought
