February Rabbits Rollcall

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

I'm here at McDowell Regional Park north of Phoenix. Slept in this morning really late and woke up with a start! Raced around getting out of my spot at Gilbert Ray, dumped my tanks, and then drove here, but of course, several stops along the way--post office, Camping World for a new bathroom shower spray, and Walmart's to stock up on groceries. Spent a LOT more there than I usually do, but had a lot of basics I needed, plus a couple of bottles of stuff I need for my allergies. Also, got a big bucket to replace the one that got a hole in it a couple of months ago.

I am here until Saturday morning, then heading 120 miles to Dead Horse Ranch, and finally 250 miles to Willow Beach again for days. I know I could have stayed in a commercial campground, but I feel safer in terms of the virus when I am out in the desert a hundred feet from my nearest neighbor. I am still hoping I can go to New Mexico on Feb 27 when they open to non-residents again.

I have not done laundry since Jan 13 and I don't want to go to a commercial laundromat, so I am going to put my new bucket in the shower tomorrow and hand wash out some undies and maybe 3-4 pair of shorts. That should last me a little while. Luckily, I have a lot of t-shirts, and just bought two new ones at the Arizona Senora Desert Museum yesterday, so I should be able to last two weeks until I get to Willow Beach Marina where they have two washers and two dryers, and I won't have to be around a lot of people. Might still need to do an occasional "bucket wash" however. Sheets and towels can wait.

Good to hear from you, Tina!

typically when I get on I go to the later days find my post and read from there down knew that I wasn't on yesterday but did post on Saturday but it's not there could have sworn that it said that it was posted... mind boggling
I did ask in the lost one if Judi boon docks as there is lots of space here...
so glad to see you post Tina hoping that things are looking up (((((hugs)))))
hopefully you will get the bp do Irmi
how neat Beth to receive a welcome like that gives one good vibes...
we've had it a bit cool looks like it will be in the low 70's tomorrow maybe Tuesday then cooling down and chances of rain for the rest of the week
on Friday after I got off the computer went to color a page and said no internet couldn't understand that it had "bars" then I found out Saturday morning that I couldn't call out or send text's (mentioned this all on the Sat post that went away)
finally talked to someone on a help line he said that it sounded like my phone was disconnected.... but he couldn't go into my dd's account without a password which I couldn't remember and even tried calling her as well as her son as she didn't answer nor did he...so I finally realized that the problem that I had with the MIFI was operator error (I was a bit impatient ) so sent a message to my dd then Sunday after I "attended" church and second hour meeting saw a message from dd telling me to let her know when I was on said I was at that point then this strange ring tone realized that they were calling me on messenger so we talked could see her and grandson as well as the baby and others... gave them the numbers required got my phone hooked back up... what happened was when they picked up the new phones was suppose to deactivate my grandson's they didn't they deactivated mine... it was pretty disconcerting to not have phone for those 24 plus hours but all is well now... now to decide if I want them to mail mine to me or just wait till I get back up to Idaho...
it will be exciting to have a new phone...
hope you all have a great day hope that this posts correctly

I finally got my teeth cleaned. Got my wallet cleaned too! Even with insurance paying 50%, it still cost me $200. What ever happened to free annual cleaning?? And then they want me to come back in 3 months for another cleaning. I think my insurance only pays for two per year. What a racket!

She put some white sticky stuff on me teeth after polishing them and sent me on my way. Think I still have some stuck to my teeth. Never had that put on before. I had planned to do some errands after but didn't want to go anywhere with white stuff on my lips and teeth. My mask might get stuck on it! Got home and layed down for a bit. A "bit" turned into a 4 hour nap!! Must still have been tired from the weekend at work and pushed myself too much after being sick. Had some dinner and now just watching gusmoke. Maybe can get to some things tomorrow.

Been a gloomy day and I heard a few rain drops on the awning earlier today. No storm coming tho. That must have stayed north or fizzled out. Just some wind expected here on Wednesday.

Good to hear from you Tina. Hang in there and take one day at a time until you are well. You will get there!

Those of you in the snow, take care and hunker down! One heck of a messy storm!

Hi all,
Just barely making the roll call today.
Busy with tending to the grands & helping DD get ready for her move.
Son & Ex from KS are both coming out this week to spend some time with her & the rest of the CA family. They're getting tested before they come & will practice safe distancing & quarantining (at son's house) while here. I'm encouraging DD to wear a facemask when she's around them, but not sure she will all the time. She's pretty diligent about staying safe so my guess is she'll keep her distance when in their company.

Tina, hang in there, hope you feel a little better each day.
Lyn, good hearing from you. Glad your family stays in touch via zoom -not quite as good as being together, but it keeps us safe, so I'm glad we have it.
Barbie, glad you finally got your dentist appt but yikes on the cost!

Hope those with snow, stay warm & safe. I don't miss that white stuff at all.

Take care,
Catherine

I remembered Rabbits at midnight. Went to town and picked up cat food for the outside cats and went to Walmart. I wanted to get the groceries I need for the weekend. Hopefully I can get everything loaded tomorrow.

Irmi, every time they check my blood pressure at a doctor's office it's high but not at home. I need to bring my monitor with me sometime and compare it to the doctor's.

We have some smart criminals. A guy hired two men to kill a woman he raped. The two men killed the guy's sister and another woman that was at the house but not the woman they were hired to kill. And this was their second attempt. The jails are full of these bright bulbs.

Judy, they are sure keeping you on the move. You need one of the portable washing machines that keep popping up on Facebook.

Tina, good to see you post.

Barbie, unless you had X-Rays, your teeth cleaning sure sounds overpriced. I started using an electric Braun toothbrush and they don't spend as much time cleaning my teeth now.

I'd get one, but all of my outside storage areas are pretty full and not very big to begin with! Luckily, I do fine when I am in Florida and Ohio because all of the state parks in those places have at least one or two washers and dryers. And In Napa's EXPO, they also have a couple of washers and dryers, plus I can use the one at my son's house. Ditto for the glider airport campground in Tehachapi and at Willow Beach Marina! Found several places in Oregon, also. And luckily, I have a lot of clothes for times like this. Already been washing out undies! Normally, if I get desperate, I will spend one night in a commercial campground just to do laundry. I've been trying really, really hard to avoid commercial laundromats because of the COVID-19 virus and was successful all of 2020!!

Before I get my shower tonight, I have to replace my old shower wand because it has been leaking and spraying water from the hose. Got a new one today and should just screw on. Keeping my fingers crossed it will be as easy as the last time I had to replace it!!

Martha, nope, no x-rays. I am gonna check around for a cheaper place.

I discovered a blister on my finger today from my scissors! :o That shows how busy I was!

Just heard on the news that 2 grocery stores in Long Beach closed up because the city council made them give all their employees a $4 per hour raise, but they said they couldn't afford it so they closed up. Right now is not a time to force any business to increase hourly wages, especially that much! Crazy! So instead of those workers getting a raise, now they are unemployed.

One business here that is doing really well is the deli/bakery that Judy and I ordered lunch at when she was here. They are tucked away in the back of an industrial park but have a great reputation out here so they are now building a new, much larger restaurant at a busy intersection, nearby. Good for them! We are also getting a new Starbucks kiddy-corner from our park soon. I had heard there is also supposed to be a Black Bear Diner going in that same location sometime as well. That would be great and walking distance too! Saw something being built next to WM today. Not sure what it is, maybe a fast food place but it sure is going up quick. Didn't see anything there just last week when I was there. Arbies just opened last month in that same location. There is a lot of open land around here and new businesses are still opening around here as well as new homes being built. So that is all a good sign.

I wouldn't think that a city council would have the authority to dictate wages. I think those stores could sue the council.

When I went to Lafayette last week I saw at least 3 restaurants that had been built and were up and running since I had passed there. They can sure put up some of these places fast. One place they had torn down a big Mexican Restaurant and put up something else. I wish Abbeville had a Raising Canes Chicken Finger place. That's a chain that started in Louisiana and don't know if it made it out West yet. I would usually pick up lunch there when I would go to Lafayette. My friend's husband looked into building one here and they wouldn't let him. I don't know why, we have just about everything else.

I think they are suing.

We have Raising Canes here now. Not in the valley where I am, but they put one in Vista where I used to live. I tried it once but wasn't too impressed. They only have a few choices and I didn't like their special sause. It sure was a busy place tho, so apparently everyone else loved it. I opted to go to Epic Wings across the street from our shop. I could eat there every day which I just about did. I love that place! Too bad they don't have one out here in the valley.

Larry's cardio used to tell him that he thought the numbers at home were more what he was interested in as walking into the clinic and the white coat syndrome usually raises BP
