Last Sunday of January

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last Sunday of January

Postby Colliemom » Sun Jan 31, 2021 9:42 am

Morning everyone. Watching the Weather Channel to see what the latest is on the big storm. It’s totally missing us here in northern Michigan. I haven’t seen so much as a snowflake this morning. This has been going in all winter. Been a very mild one for us. Even the lake effect snow machines haven’t been in production much either.

It’s been interesting reading the posts from many of you as to how the vaccine distributions are going on in your states. MI is now in Phase 1B, vaccinating residents 65 and older, Police, EMS, School teachers and other school personnel, firefighters etc. Last weekend, they did a bunch of clinics across a 4 county area up here and were able to vaccinate 1700 individuals in a three day period. My county which has a population of a bit over 24,000 has vaccinated 2035 so far. The State as a whole has vaccinated 730,453. The demand has exceeded the supply, so as soon a shipments start rolling in, those numbers will continue to go up. We have clinics, hospitals and pharmacies waiting and ready to go. I think that thr otber issue affecting everybody too, is that we are now at the time where the first people who had their shots are due for their second ones, so some of the vaccine has to be channeled in that direction. They think that since that 3 day clinic was successful up here, that once the vaccine becomes more available, they can ramp up those numbers.

Bathroom painting is done, just need to put my mirror back in place :D Now off to the living room, once I decide on color. I have enough paint to do my guest bedroom in the same color as I did mine and will do my guest bathroom same as my first one since they are decorated differently. So once decision is reached on living room color, no more looking at color chips :D

Time to get moving here, so going to wish you all a nice day, keep warm and safe, those of you in path of this snowstorm. Barbie, hope it won’t be such a long day for you today.

Good morning Sue, I’m drinking coffee and watching the snow. It’s been very cold so the snow is laying. #1 daughter called yesterday, said she was having a summertime dinner and would I like to stop by for curbside pickup. A grill sure improves a hotdog and chicken too. Have enough for dinner today. Pickup services have really spoiled me. :) No plans so will just stay put and continue watching the snow. Be safe

Good morning, Sue and Shirl. And all who read or post later. Nothing exciting happening here today. I ordered a new, larger patio mat that arrived yesterday afternoon. I'm going to see if I can put it out so that I can walk back and forth from the rig to the casita without being on the gravel. Exciting, eh? And I'll cook a London broil I purchased in a way I never have before, then freeze individual portions for later. It's an experiment, so my fingers are crossed.

I just got an email from a couple who's been working for a few summers where I'm heading this summer to welcome me to the team. Nice!

Beth, any news is good. The rug is a good idea and might be useful to someone. I just talked to my son. He has blue bird houses on his property and is feeding them blue bird nuggets. Never heard of them but they sit on his fence watching the house until he comes out and fills the feeder. :D He tries to keep water in the birdbath but it freezes. I just ordered a birdbath warmer for him. My contribution to our feathered friends since I no longer have a yard. I didn’t know bluebirds stayed north in the winter.

This morning I put on capris when I got dressed. Wishful thinking, the temperature is only 67. I would like to pick up lunch but not organized enough to get to town in time. There are several places that sell BBQ chicken on Sunday but I would have to put in an order and get to town. My neighbor told me the local convenience store changed hands and the new owner is going to sell lunches. Maybe they will sell BBQ on Sunday.

Sue, it seems like you have painted your house several times. Fifteen years after we moved in here it still has the primer it came with. I never thought about it not being paint until I was going through the paper work looking for something.

Beth, I have a patio mat that has never made a camping trip. I never think about putting it in so maybe should add that to my list of things to do. Sugar might like something to lay on. I need to start my list for my next trip. Have to go get cat food at the feed store tomorrow. Tell the neighbors I'm leaving.

Shirl, I don't know if I have ever seen a blue bird here. I don't see blue jays very often either. I don't feed the birds since it would be a smorgasbord for the cats.

Off to find something for lunch.

It's a bright sunny day here. We might reach 60. Rain by tomorrow maybe. Have second load of laundry in dryer, which so far is my big accomplishment for the day. I seem to spend more time planning what I need to do than actual doing. I need to reverse that.
Tomorrow PT Cruiser to Les Schwab for tire check and brake check. Think it's quite possible it will need its first new set of brake pads. Possibly new tires. Hit to pocketbook, but without Mel to do these things, I need to keep son and I safe. AAA must love me because I never need them, and that's my goal!
Mandy and the bird have their checkups this week. That will occupy 2 afternoons. I have to sit in car while they get carried in by techs and I guess I'll FaceTime or something with Dr. I didn't exactly understand that plan, and this is new/former vet. She worked at my long time vet for a few years before starting her own practice. My long time vets retired and sold to a corporation, so it's a good time to find a vet I actually liked when each of my cats saw her several years ago.
Still no word from county on getting vaccine other thank yes 65 and older but no where taking 65 and older. I guess it's shortages of vaccine. Just tryi g o keep us safe until we can both be vaccinated.
Have a good week all.

Good Afternoon from the sick bay. My DH has been having bad back pain for about three weeks but he does not want me to call the doctor, Toby has a cruciate ligament and after his dental cleaning he will have surgery, last night Mitzi started limping on one of her back legs and I have Trigeminal Neuralgia! I hope Emma doesn't come up with any issues! My sweet neighbor brought over some delicious soup for us at noon. I had to laugh, she sent a text of her with these weird pink glasses on and said they were onion glasses! I would have never believed there actually were glasses, more like goggles, to keep your eyes from tearing when you chop up onions but they sell them on Amazon so it has to be real :)

Velda I saw where you said your vet sold to a corporation and I had just heard that is happening here also. I just wonder why and if it will actually change anything.

Shirley I didn't know blue birds stayed north either. I used to see several in a neighbors yard, maybe she fed them nuggets! Someone else bought the house though and I didn't see them last year.

I just checked how long it is until our next vaccine appointment and found we are just 2 days under the 6 week range!!! Silly me I just thought they had made it for the 28 days out. I sure hope they have some available!! I think I will look into finding an earlier appointment but that is sort of like finding gold.

Our house inside needs painting so bad, but of course it would after 23 years!

Martha, I have a smaller patio mat that comes in the rv. This one I'll only put out when here. And, yes, Ty immediately went and laid on it. It's long and anchoring only the corners has the wind today wanting to lift it, so I'll see about at least putting a rock or two on the side I won't trip over.

BJ, please take care of yourselves. Hugs.

Me too!

Another long day but not quite as crazy busy as yesterday. Very steady all day tho. Did the same number of haircuts as I did yesterday but made more in tips. My first customer was a fairly young guy who was pretty quiet and I was shocked when I checked his receipt and saw he left me a $38 tip!! My manager says he always leaves really good tips! I got a $20 tip and several $10 tips. Ended up with close to $150. Customers here are very generous!
I ended up staying until closing and just got a quick break for lunch at 3:30. Was tired but not nearly as sore as I was yesterday luckily.

I have the next two days off so I need to get caught up with stuff around here. I am feeling better now so that helps. I have my teeth cleaning appointment tomorrow morning. Hopefully, nothing gets in the way of this one. Have rescheduled this about 4 times now.

BJ, I googled Trigeminal Neuralgia, and that doesn't sound good at all. How long have you had that? Hope you all start feeling better and get healthy again!

My little black kitty was waiting for me this morning and again when I got home from work. He/She didn't hiss at me today. Later, Lola started screaming when she saw the white kitty thru the window out in the back yard. For some reason she really hates white cats more than other cats.

Have a good night! And don't forget to say "RABBITS!" tonight or first thing tomorrow morning!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Thanks Barbie, It definitely isn't good. This episode has been going on around three weeks. I have lost 3 pounds so far even though I think I am eating (drinking) almost the same amount. I can't chew and it is difficult to swallow so everything goes in my Nutri Bullet. I need to look into meal replacement drinks or something to help with the weight. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate them. I hope your stomach has settled down and you were able to get your teeth cleaned. It sounds as though their health care system is totally a mess!
You really do well in tips your clients must like your technique!

BJ, Mel could turn any meal into a drink, with his 5 years after his jaw surgery. Hamburger and cheese with some broth made a cheeseburger soup. Don't think it has to be fruit based. I use my VitaMix to make cheesy broccoli soup with steamed broccoli, broth, cheese and a little cream cheese for thickening. Added fats will help keep calories up because they are calorie dense. hope you find some concoctions to help.

Thanks Velda, I hadn't thought of some of those things. It is definitely a learning process. I'll have to look at the Vita Mix my NutriBullet does pretty good but I could probable use something with more power.

Vitamix is an investment but they last many years. I'm on my second one in 44 years and the first still works, I just wanted new! Still made in US too. I can come up with more ideas of you like.

Yes please I am getting tired of most of what I'm eating. The Vitamix sounds like they are well made!
