Cold Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cold Thursday

Postby Othersharon » Thu Jan 28, 2021 11:40 am

Good morning! I’ve finished my coffee but always have it on hand and tea too. It’s going to be a cold not very nice few days. I think the storm those of you in the west are dealing with is going to be here by Monday. The Xfinity tech was here on Tuesday and just like that got things working again. He did check all my devices out and changed a connector on the main box. Nice to have my weather and news in the morning with my coffee again. As far as all the ins and outs I’m still clueless! And it’s kinda of hard to look over his shoulder when we were social distancing! I changed my hair appointment for that afternoon from 1 to Saturday. Good thing since tech called and asked if he could come early plus there was a bad accident on the road near the salon. According to the news they didn’t even open the road until 1:20! So it all worked out for the best. Sue, haven’t heard from you for awhile. Hope all is well with you. Anne, that a big stretch of fence that came down. Sounds like between the wind, rain and snow CA is getting hit hard. Hope you all stay safe. Barbie, hope you start feeling better. And Tina, I hope you’re feeling better. Thinking about you and sending healthy thoughts your way. I need to get up early tomorrow and tap into the local hospital since they’ve announced they are letting people sign up for the vaccine for when they get it. So another list to add my name to and go to at whichever contacts me first. So that’s it for me today. Just staying in and staying warm! Take care and be safe.

Good morning gals.

I was feeling pretty good towards the end of the day yesterday and was hopeful I was getting over whatever this is, but woke up this morning feeling crappy again and have a headache. Haven't gotten results back from my Covid test yet. Should be sometime today.

Got my schedule for work last night. I work both Saturday and Sunday but only for 5 hours each day and then Monday and Tuesday off which I had requested. Monday is my teeth cleaning appointment which I have rescheduled umpteen times already and didn't want to reschedule again. And Tuesday is my putters league which I need to get back to running. Of course all this depends on my test results but I am pretty confident it will be negative.

I don't think we will be really swamped at work. The other Great Clips are opening up before us so many of our customers will go to those locations instead. And many other salons opened up the first day the shut down was lifted.
We were one of the later ones to reopen before, and we weren't nearly as busy as we had expected to be. Not sure why they delay our shop opening but I am actually glad for it now since I probably won't be feeling the best yet by Saturday anyways.

Blues skies right now but the storm will be moving in later this afternoon. I fed the stray kitties well last night in case they can't/won't come during the storm. There is a young black kitty who comes every night and meows for me. Saw a new one the other night, a dark tabby with white feet. So that makes about 5 now, altho I haven't seen the scruffy white kitty for awhile. Maybe I need to name them like Martha does. :D None of them are friendly but I do try to talk to them when I am putting food out for them.

I really need to get a few things done around here, like take out the trash, clean up the kitchen, and maybe even a load of laundry. Will see how I feel and try to do each of those with a break in between.

I better go find something to eat. I need some energy. I haven't eaten much for a few days. Not much appetite right now either but I will find something to try.

It's sunny but a cool 53. Sugar and I got our walk in early. We managed to make it without any cats. There are usually one of two trying to follow me. If the neighbor's cats see them on the road they start a fight so that makes mine a little leery of following me.

I found out one of Harold's riding friends died on Tuesday. He was only 61. I worked with 2 of his brothers at the fish plant. The family isn't having a funeral so I don't have to get out of going.

I had gumbo for lunch again. I have 2 more servings in the freezer and then I'll have to make it again. Shirl mentioned making an apple crisp the other day and now I want to make one too. I bought a bag of apples thinking that I would eat one everyday. That's not happening so need to cook some.

Barbie, keep trying to befriend your stray cats. If you can get to pet one of them the others see that and decide they would like to be petted too. Some times it takes a year. Hope you get to feeling better.

I have to put the trash out today so off to clean out the refrigerator and see if I can find something in the old house to throw away.

It's a rainy day here in Roseville. Just over an inch in this storm( 24 hours ) and 3 inches for the entire month. We should get 8 inches in January, but likely won't. I'm loving the sound of rain on the roof. And, as soon as I typed that, it stopped! I should learn not to scare it away. Staying home as usual, mainly because of weather today. No point getting wet. No pressing needs. I pay all bills online and only go to bank maybe once in 5-6 months. Checks auto deposited, so I just check the accounts online. Have even learned to use credit union app to photo deposit any stray checks that appear.
Hope Tina turns corner soon. Barbie, sure hope you feel better soon. Hope everyone else is well and enjoying the day. It's only 49 outside, another reason to stay in! Yeah, I'm a California wimp, born and raised. Raining again. (Whispering so I don't scare it away!)

Itty Bitty News....I go back in H tomorrow for a procedure to remove my lovely drain. Apparently the last scan showed that it had drained what they wanted drained. I am hoping that removal will make sleeping and changing positions more comfortable. As of today I have been removed from IV antibiotics and Infection control Dr is to call in a new oral antibiotics. I mean that the health care nurse will be able to remove the pic line. Given my continuing aversion to most foods I think the tube feeds will be with me for awhile longer.

Barbie, what others have said. See a doctor. Our bodies are sometimes terrible about letting us know what is actually happening. I had many different periodic symptoms in the past year or so. Some misdiagnosed and others I just attributed to common unrelated things, except when my pancreas blew up and hindsight revealed many related symptoms that could have been warnings.....

Good to hear you are getting rid of a few tubes, Tina! That ought to help you move around and feel a little better, at least. I've had gall bladder and pancreatitis (but no where near as bad as you), so I know how hard it is to eat. I remember keeping a food diary and still only getting about 600 calories a day into me, but luckily it got better after a couple of months.

Anyway, really good to hear from you!

Thanks for updating us Tina. This long battle you're fighting is no fun even to read about. It sounds like it'll still be an uphill fight but you're winning it. And I love your advise for Barbie. I need to follow it but I'm ambivalent about starting with a new doctor when I like the one I found here who had moved his practice. And with nothing really new I don't want to make visits until I have the vaccine if I can avoid it.

I think I had my best nights sleep in awhile last night, only one time up to go potty. That's unheard of. I wish I could say it motivated me to get more done today.

Martha, I'm glad you jumped in about Barbie's cats. If anyone knows how to get them to respond, you do. And Barbie I hope you get an answer soon on your test.

I placed a small Safeway order for tomorrow with a late morning pickup. If it's not raining when I get back I'm hoping to put the wrap on my hose and get my water to the rv hooked up again.

And for today's goof, I looked at the date and saw 28th and posted a picture and happy birthday in heaven message for my Mom on FB. Her birthday is February 28th! And to make it funnier, my sister posted on it with her own pictures, then did get own post. By then I realized my error and thanked her for following along. Haha I really don't know when it is anymore.

Tina, glad to hear you are getting rid of some of the stuff attached to you! Glad to hear from you :D .

I am still waiting on the test results. Checked on-line and says it is still being processed. Never did hear back from my doctor so will call again tomorrow if I don't feel better. If the test is negative, then I am thinking this is just some other kind of mild virus.

Just been napping today. Had some soup earlier and a tiny bit of ice cream. Haven't touched the truffles yet and no desire to.

No rain yet but I am sure it is coming soon.

I had some plans to go out and do my last couple of errands but again it was pouring rain so lots my enthusiasm for that. So got all my meat and fish done in the food saver and in the freezer. Then broke down a bunch of cardboard.....that stuff sure multiplies quickly. Since I picked up a roasted chicken yesterday, today I made a quick casserole of chicken, gravy and stove top stuffing. I actually made two so will freeze one. They are small. I still have lots of chicken left for my salad and for making quesadillas. Emma thought she died and went to heaven, the smell was making her crazy. Since tomorrow is trash day here I wanted to get all the meat containers and chicken carcass in the trash for pickup.

Tina glad to hear things are looking up for you. Hope your infection is pretty well cleared up and you can return to normal life in the next few months as I know it wont happen overnight. Just know we are all rooting for you.

Barbie have you heard of the B R A T diet. It is used for resting your gut. Bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. You should try it for a couple days. You might even have an ulcer so if it continues I would get that checked out.

did get more accomplished today than other days... they came out and pumped out the tanks was really surprised was waiting for the phone call to come guide them in and heard something big... went to see who it was and it was the pump truck... so after he left I went and got propane then was on the way to get water and remembered I'd forgotten the hose so home I came took care of the propane bottle he had laid it down will have to ask that they make sure it's standing as it's a lot harder to get out of the bed of the truck laying down... but it happened :? then got the hose and back out to go to South LaPosa and get the bottles filled felt like I was trying to beat the wind and I was but it didn't come till way late..
got the chicken pulled apart and made chicken salad for sandwiches saved the carcass for soup think that will happen on Saturday perhaps... would like to think of some way of fixing it with rice
sat out in the sun a bit...
Tina so glad to see you hopefully getting rid of some of that stuff will make you feel better... take care of yourself

Finally got my results back...negative! Whew!

Karen, thanks for the diet advice. I have all those ingredients except for the rice. Will try eating the other three for awhile and see how that goes.

No rain yet, but they are still saying it is coming. It won't be as bad here as they thought but still maybe half an inch which in the desert, is still significant. I guess along the central CA coast, they got over a foot of rain today, and over 12 feet of snow up in the mountains near Mammoth Ski area.

Beth, on getting up at night. Did you know wheat can be a bladder irritant. I just assumed it was age getting me up 2-3 times a night. Then I came across a list of possible obscure symptoms of issues with wheat. Near bottom was bladder irritation. Sounded unlikely, but I decided it couldn't hurt to try. So I went gluten free, stopping wheat. Within a couple of days, I slept through the night. I tested adding it back a few times and symptom of needmg to pee several times a night always returns. Eventually symptoms crept back a Little and I went grain free. Symptoms have not returned. I think it's been almost 10 years since I figured the wheat out. Worth a test for 30 days to see?

Tina, great to see you post!! So happy you are seeing improvements! Big hugs !!

Barbie good news that your test came back negative. Are there any good health food stores out there that have a deli? Maybe if you change your diet and eat regularly it would help your stomach. Hope you feel better soon.

Velda, that's interesting. However I'm not waking up because of my bladder. I don't sleep well because of my sinuses. Between my head stuffing up causing headaches, etc, I wake up. Since I'm awake I figure going potty might let me sleep longer. Doctors have tried several things. The only one that works is steroids and I refuse to take them regularly because of their side effects. That said, I have some on hand and took one the past two days, therefore my head mostly cleared and I slept. The longest I've ever taken them was 5 days after an asthma attack sent me to an urgent care. I'll probably take one again today then won't do it again for awhile.

Beth, I used to have a stuffy nose all the time. Then a Dr found I was allergc to latex. Back then latex gloves were all we had in the hospital. The Dr said, because you are latex allergic, also don't eat avocados, kiwi, or bananas as all are related to latex. Stopping my banana a day cleared up my constant stuffy nose. That was a surprise! I am far more interested in finding the cause of symptoms than treating them with an RX. I too used to have to take steroids for asthma pretty regularly, maybe 3 to 4 times a year. Haven't taken but a occasional single puff of steroid inhaler in years now. And before. Used to think it was all inhaled stuff in the environment. One often has to be a detective to get to the root cause of symptoms that are chronic.
Hope you find your cause
