Very cold Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Very cold Sunday

Postby Shirlv » Sun Jan 24, 2021 9:57 am

Morning All. Looks like some messy weather for next week. I placed a Walmart order for Monday morning, I know I hate mornings but racing afternoon wintery mix. Thought I would have ham and cabbage one night which lead to what to do with the rest of a head of cabbage. Tough cooking for one when you do not like to eat the same thing twice. Crockpot beef vegetable soup with some shredded cabbage for dinner and freezer. Fish tacos with slaw should finish the cabbage. Forgot to order tacos so fish salad. :D Sorry about the dull reading but this is the thoughts of an isolated senior whose life revolves around food and doing laundry. :? Be safe

Good morning Shirl and to Everybody else, Freezing cold here too, but beautiful sunshine!
I just finished reading the NY Sunday Times which took up the entire morning. I have nothing planned for today or the week actually....
I’ll do my 15 minute walk indoors today; round and round and up and down the stairs. Maybe I’ll try the 7 minutes Standing Workout published in the paper today.
Thinking about Tina and wishing her well. I will do my best to enjoy today, you do too. Peggy

Good morning Shirl. Slept good last night after struggling NOT to have a nap. That just screws up my sleep pattern so just went to bed early as I was up at 3am. Rainy out right now and supposed to be a bit of a wet week with some snow showers possible here on the valley floor but more up in the hills. Works for me.

I put a couple of lamps I ordered for the guest room together this morning. Hmmmm need to get more light bulbs. They look real nice in there. Yesterday I took down the ugliest valances I have ever seen in my life in my living room and family room. The fellow putting up my window coverings took the one down in the living room. So last night I took down the ones in the family room. Today I took down the hardware so need to go dump all this metal for sure. The rods were the 3 inch long kind and the material had plastic bags inside to make them poof.....oh good grief. Had a heck of a time getting the valance material to slide on it. But I won. Rewarded myself with a good breakfast.

Need to take a blind back to Home Depot it is too wide. So I ordered them online as my windows are only 53" long and the standard size is 63" so decided after viewing youtube I dont want to shorten them myself. So spent a bit more, of course but they should fit well. Also ordered a couple of lamps for my bedroom from them then I should be pretty much finished. I do need a file cabinet still but dang those things are expensive. I dont want a metal one so that makes it more pricey. I will just keep my eyes open for some sort of sale.

I laughed at you Beth with your cart on Amazon. I had like 13 things in mine ha ha well today I deleted quite a few. Still saving a few things until I know I cant find them around here.

Making salmon patties for dinner unless I go to Costco and will pick up one of their roasted chickens. I have that one day, next day make a chicken casserole with stove top and rice. Then there is a cheese and chicken quesadilla involved.....that usually finishes it up for me (and the dog LOL)

SHIRL! Stop! I love your posts. My life is much like yours - so reading your posts saves me from writing about my boring life.

Good morning gals!

Clouds and rain have moved on for now and clear skies right now.

I need to get off my butt and starting doing things around here. I have been parked on my love seat for several days and now my back is hurting.

I found yet another small leak under the sink. It looks like a connection to the drain that he probably didn't tighten all the way. Will have to call him back today. I really need to do laundry too, since I have no more clean towels due to using them all to mop up the wet floor!

I need to make a run to WM to get some Propel flavored water. I ran out yesterday and am now drinking filtered tap water. Regular water gives me a stomach ache and I don't like the taste of it so I don't drink very much. I used to be so dehydrated all the time before I discovered flavored water.

Hoping Tina is feeling a bit better now with the added nourishment.

Yes, our new Covid numbers are coming down here, but the ICU's are still at 100%. Hopefully, that will start to drop some soon too. We won't open back up until they drop down to 85% of capacity.

Have a good day!

Cool and about half sunny with sun poking between clouds. Expecting rain soon. Sure need it, way behind for year. I'm staying covered up in bed awaiting zoom church meeting at 11, so about 30 min or so.
Got some craft stuff organized yesterday. Hope to play today. Will probably do some arm work and squats on Total Gym too. No big plans for week ahead, much of which some rain is predicted. The way these storms have looked promising then fallen apart and headed north to Karen, I'm not holding my breath, but may do a rain dance!
I use colloidal silver and lavender oil on mosquito bites, which I am reacting way more to than I used to. Fortunately Mosquitos are in hibernation at moment. Just wish we would have a good overnight freeze or two which cuts our summer bug population at least a little. the lavender cuts itch a lot and the CS helps prevent infection. Last summer I kept getting bites even when only outside a few minutes and they got quite big, as Judy described, but if I caught them early and got CS on and dry then lavender over that, it cut healing time way down.
Our county website is so confusing. It says those over 75 are eligible for immunization, then it says 65 and older too, but when you follow it's links to the places giving them, those sites say only over 75! I wish they would get their act together. And no links to make appointments.
I'll just mostly stay home until they make this easier!
Sure hope Tina is making progress. Feel so bad for her. What a mess.
Have a good day and week everyone.

got up to "attend" church but they had difficulty with the stream missed out on the first 15 or so minutes..but got the talk and part of the musical number... then all of the women's meeting that began at 11 now thinking about breakfast... heat is on as it is cold out has rained but have a mixture of blue sky and rain clouds... tomorrow it's suppose to be really windy like a wind adversary.... :o I hate wind!!! decided that I'm not going anywhere tomorrow hopefully all of the vendors are aware of the wind it's suppose to be in the 20 not sure of what the gusts are suppose to do... I still want to go some where and get yarn but not when it's that windy...
because I'm not used to posting at this time of day have even less itty bitty news but I am sure that a nap will call my name should take Shadow out while it's not raining but he is asleep and doesn't do well when I wake him up to take him out he insists that he isn't going but I prevail...
so on to lunch or breakfast guess depends upon what I eat but eggs and toast are sounding good
I sure hope that Tina starts regaining her strength
my friend's husband passed away last night so sorry so sad all at the same time

Today looks a lot like yesterday except it's warmer, 76. I should go fishing. That would give me something to do for a couple of hours. I went to the pond a few days ago but the fish weren't bitting.

Shirl, I looked up the web site you shared yesterday and her food sure looks good. I'll have to try some of the recipes when I get through with what I have in the refrigerator. I cooked the other half of the turkey roast I had in the freezer. I had a big bag of frozen broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. I usually end up with a lot of carrots in the end of the bag so I took all the carrots and cooked them with honey on them.

It looks like the places that are going to give the vaccine shots are getting their act together. Just one problem, no vaccine. There is a big public park in Abbeville that they are talking about setting up at so people can just drive through in cars. That should cause a major traffic jam because it's only a block off the main highway coming in from the South.

I received an email from my credit card company that they received my payment today and I just mailed it on Friday. That seems fast. The IRS said my son's stimulus check was mailed on the 6th and it came yesterday. I think someone is fibbing.

Peggy, I remember when my Aunt in Dallas took both Dallas papers. I don't know how anyone could get through that much news but they were probably mostly ads. My local paper is usually only about 4 pages. By the time I get around to reading them the people that have died have already been buried. I get out of a lot of funerals like that.

Barbie, I think that plumber likes to see you.

It's 50 degrees here, the predicted high for today, but the wind makes it feel so much colder. Tuesday our predicted high is maybe 40 and then an overnight low into the teens. That day/night we could see snow. (Tina, if you're reading this, it reminds me of the cold and snow here when you visited.) The good news is the highs should be back to 60 and above Friday. I actually hope we get a little snow. If we have those temps, I like the beauty the snow will bring for the short time it's here.

I, too, spent a lot of time on that website, Shirl. I'll be going back and saving some of the recipes to try.

Martha, I think you may have that right.

Beth and Martha, I am worried that he will think I am creating leaks to see him! :o He is way too old for me and he talks about his wife, but when I went to his house to pay him, I didn't see any sign of a woman there so maybe she recently passed away.

I will call him tomorrow about this latest leak. I didn't want to bother him on a Sunday. I have a bucket under the pipe and just using the other side of the sink for now.

My tummy has been a little off today. Lots of indigestion, so layed low today. Didn't even get to WM.

I have at least 3 cats that come for food now. A young black kitty, a fluffy orange kitty, a scruffy white kitty and I think there is another one too. None are friendly. I have to put out separate dishes of food around the outside of the house, or they fight over it. I am becoming Martha!! Lol!
