We have paid our rent for another month here in Mazatlan. Talked to our son in Vegas and he strongly suggested we NOT come home yet. Covid cases here in Mazatlan right now stand at 69, but are going up a little bit every day from the holidays. We continue to be careful where we go and what we do.
Today we are taking a day trip in the car just to get out and about some.
We have just recently found out that two of our granddaughters have had and recovered from Covid as did a couple of our great grand children. One friend here in Mexico has died from it.Seems like suddenly, last few months we are hearing about more and more people who know people who have contracted it. Wonder when it will be just a memory.
Every one stay safe and be careful.

Good morning Carol. Sounds like Mexico is doing a great job of keeping the virus under control. Our numbers in Californina, specifically LA County are totally out of control. I am quarantining since my trip until I can get tested and cleared, even tho SB was very good about masks and social distancing. Still, staying in a motel is risky.

Cloudy here this morning but I don't think we got any more rain overnight. Maybe some coming early next week. I guess the winds around LA and north yesterday were really bad again, with more semi's being blown over on the freeways there.

Need to get up and get some things done here today, starting with calling the plumber to fix my sink/faucet. Then to the bank. Need to get my unemployment money into my checking account so I can pay some bills. Need to unpack and take out the trash and get caught up around here.

Hope you all have a safe and fun day! :D

Another sunny day in northern Calfornia . Hoping prediction of rain actually happen tomorrow amd next few days as we surely need it. Sore from yesterday workout so only plan 30 min treadmill today and short Total Gym with stretching. Will continue the clean and sort. I'm excited I found a different vet. We have gone to the same clinic for over 20'years, but both founders retired and sold to a corporation who hire young vets, often from UCD, which by itself is good, but several years ago I really liked this one vet who was there, but left. I was told she left the area. Tuesday I came across a business card with her name so googled her name. Turns out she is right up street from current vet! So I called and they will take us on even though they aren't normally taking new clients, because she knows my girls and does birds and saw our Suzie bird at other clinic. I really liked her with my F2 Savannah Stormy, who can be a handful. For this I'm grateful! All because I got to another box to sort and opened a book I was putting in the donation bin and found the card with the vets full name.
Have a good day.

Nice sunrise Carol. I don't often get up early enough to see a sunrise. Not that I could see one anyway because I'm surrounded by trees.

We are suppose to have rain coming but I managed to go to town and back before it started. Frosty needed some of his special food from the vets office. I got gas, went to the post office and Walmart. I dropped off a bag of clothes at the donation place. I'm glad to get that out of my car. Need to start another bag. My closet is so full it's a fight to hang anything up and I wear the same few things all the time.

That's my little bit of news. It sure is boring around here. Some of my friends are heading to a campout in Mississippi. I hate having to drive East and having to go through Baton Rouge and all the traffic East of there. Because of the Mississippi River there are only a few places you can cross it so it's hard to take back roads too.

I called the plumber and he came over right away. Unfortunately I wasn't expecting that so my place is a mess. He is having a terrible time getting my old faucet out. It is so corroded and the bolts are froze. He has a saw now to cut it out!

...well he got it done finally! I just realized that I had a vinyl shelf liner under the sink that I should have taken off before I left for SB. I just pulled it up and it is soaking wet underneath yet. So now I need to let that dry out before I put stuff back in there.

Now I need to shop for a dishwasher. He said he can install that for me.

Now I need to head to the library to pick up a couple books being held, and then to the bank.

Came home yesterday from Medford. Today my handyman came over to fix the vent for my dryer. It took 2 hours to dry some clothes and I was cussing the new dryer. I know they had an issue with the vent when they put it in but it was now a big issue. So he came over went under the house, ran a new line and said it was mainly venting into the insulation and that was obstructing the air flow. He said I have really thick insulation underneath my house YAY I think. So he ran the new line, put a new vent on the end and now the dryer works great. So I had to apologize to it for cussing it out. Then I lost my robot vacuum, geez she was stuck under my recliner. Guess I need to put another magnetic strip down so she wont attempt that again.

I need to go to Home Depot or Lowes and get some blinds for the 2 back bedrooms. They are the sunny side of the house in the summer so guess I will buy some heavier drapes to help with the hotter summers. The window covering installer will be here tomorrow to install the coverings in my bedroom and behind my couch. I had to order corded blinds as they only sell cordless in the stores (who knew) and it is difficult and impossible for me to get behind my couch to open, close or raise them. You can still order corded so that is what I did and those will work just dandy. The bedrooms can have cordless I dont mind that as they are easily accessible.

The sun was out but has now disappeared so a wee bit chilly in here. I covered up with a throw instead of turning up the heat. Going to watch Bridgerton on Netflix this afternoon. Just started it and so far it is pretty good.

I never did find a roman shade to replace the one the cats broke. I can't find one in burgundy and the right size. I could probably fix this one if I would take it down but then I would have to fix the lining the cats have shredded. It's a shame to be so lazy. I just pick it up and clip it with two binder clips during the day.

I was delighted to receive a phone call from Tina today. We had a good, albeit emotional conversation. She wishes to thank everyone for your concerns, thoughts and prayers and let you know that your posts encourage her when the going gets tough. And as you know it has been very tough and discouraging for her for awhile now. She has a new feeding tube which put up a fight going in, so add one more trial of pain and nosebleeds. However, now that it’s in, she will be getting the nutrition she needs to regain some weight and strength, and it is one less stress when she doesn’t feel like eating. Dennis is being a good caretaker and both have been trained in the care needed at home. She has loyal friends to help with the dogs. So right now she still doesn’t feel up to talking about it, for all her energy is going toward getting well, but hope abounds. She appreciates the cards she has received, so I encourage you to keep lifting up her spirits in that way.

As for me, life goes on. I am so thankful to be living here in this caring community. The Village arranged for the Covid Vaccine to be administered here to all members and staff over two days...today and tomorrow. We each have a service coordinator who made phone calls to us to register us in advance and collect needed paperwork. Appointments were sent out in the mail. I received my vaccine this afternoon. There was no line, no wait, everything was very organized and easy. The Village took every precaution possible to keep us safe from the virus, but still it found it’s way in and some have been affected, some died, but not nearly the numbers we hear about in other places.

We don’t mind staying home most of the time because even with group activities restricted, there is much to do. I get out on hikes and kayaking on the river as often as I can with 2 or 3 friends. I bought a new bike and have added riding to my exercise choices. There are many paved streets and walkways to ride in the village and we have discovered some really nice paved rails to trails nearby too.

There are no in-person church services right now due to an uptick in covid cases, but volunteers are doing a great job providing means to view the service....broadcast live on our own TV channel, on Facebook, and on You-tube. Bob stays busy writing a neighborhood column for our weekly newspaper, the FNN (Friendly Neighbor News). I help edit the paper and then Birdie and I deliver it in our neighborhood. There are always neighbors helping neighbors all over the village.

Bob has some ongoing issues with skin cancers, the most recent on his nose. He had Moes surgery on Wednesday and must go to a plastic surgeon tomorrow for some reconstruction. He will look funny for a couple weeks. Good thing we have to wear masks when we are out and about. No one will notice, lol.

Wow, I wrote a lot...hope I didn’t bore you too much. I read most every day, but haven’t had much new to write.

Thank you for the update Liz. I hope the feeding tube helps Tina get her strength back. It's a shame we can't give pounds to friends because I have about 50 I could give away.

You are lucky your community is taking such good care of you all. I have no idea when I will be able to get a shot. The only hospital in the area that was giving vaccinations was only giving it to their patients. Now they are saying on the news that places can be fined if they discriminate on who they will schedule.

Thanks, Liz. For the update on Tina and on your doings. I came back to my casita because it looked like all here would get the vaccine, but the county has rescinded that and is only giving to 75 and older. So I'm back scrambling. I'm glad your place for vaccines for all there.

Nothing new here today. I'm trying to be frugal but just placed a couple Amazon orders. Usually here this time of year I just use my water tank and fill it weekly. But since I'll probably be here until I head to Utah in April I decided to order wrap for my water hose, etc and hope I can do it right and keep it from freezing.

I cancelled the medical appt I had for today. I've been upset that the doctor I liked left the practice. I l have trouble finding doctors I like. I did an internet search and discovered he joined a practice on Tucson so I'm thinking I'll see if he's taking patients there. I'm not hurrying as I really don't need to see anything now and prefer not going until I get the vaccine, if possible.

Karen, I had a dryer vent get clogged once and know the frustration. I'm glad it's fixed and vented properly now.

I am sure that a lot of you will remember my complaining about the generators that I got that didn't work then finally got one that works!!! yea!!! been a year I think now or close to it... but one thing I've hated about it was it's system for emptying the oil so new can be added... every time I've done it or it's been done it's been a pain in the pa tu ty .... this time wasn't any different had a quart jar to collect the dirty oil it flowed every where but into the jar... I think there maybe a 1/3 of a cup in there... just oil everywhere so was trying to clean up the mess inside and out while cleaning the inside I was pushing a paper towel into this well and all sudden saw light :o and thought what in the world looked under and there was something hanging .... I think that was suppose to be opened for the oil to flow through into something... will be interesting when I once again take care of this job... :? learn something new every time right???
had an old friend get in touch with me today they are here in town so going to come out for a visit hopefully the weather will be good and we can visit outside... haven't seen them for years. used to live in the same neighborhood in fact at one time she cut my hair but no longer is a beautician is a teacher now... then a gal that lives in the same town that I summer in text and they are here so will probably see them some time... was going to run down to Yuma tomorrow but wanted to see friends will either go down on Sat or Monday... problem with going Monday is that I have Shadow on these supplements am down to tonight's if I wait until Monday that is several days without... but I am thinking that Michael's will be busy on Saturday perhaps not so much on Monday...
temp has dropped need to turn on the buddy... got propane as well today and a quick stop at family dollar for distilled water for the batteries and of course a few other items magically fell into the cart... I am hoping that what I got will work for in front of the books I am going to put on the desk hopefully it's long enough perhaps I will measure it before I open the bag its in...
Liz so good to hear from you and to hear how Tina is doing she has gone through the wringer with this...
well the brain has ceased working  and what ever I was going to expound on has gone out the door...
if it was a normal year we probably would have had Navajo Taco's tonight sure miss everyone

Liz, thanks for the update on Tina. I sure hope the feeding tube will help her get the nourishment and energy she needs to start on recovering. The body needs that to heal itself.

LA has opened up the Dodger's Stadium to Covid vaccinations. They can do up to 12,000 vaccinations per day. The LA mayor has been working there daily for 12+ hours helping with it. That is a real hands-on mayor!! Considering that his county has one of the highest numbers of Covid in the US, I imagine he feels very obligated to do what ever he can to help.

I've got the fan blowing into the area under the sink to try and get that dried out. Can't put my stuff back in there until it is dry. I got my errands done earlier today so I accomplished quite a bit today.

There are more storms coming to southern CA over the next week. Temps will be dropping so the mountains will be getting snow down to 2000 ft so we might have snow on the mountains right behind here which are only about 3000 ft high. Hopefully, we will get some decent rain here in the desert.
