Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday

Good Morning All, sunny morning on the shore. Maryland Governor moved us on to 1B which includes us old timers. I sent the form of interest in the vaccine and now wait for the next step. Porch Friend got her first shot yesterday so waiting to hear how she is doing this morning. PT is finished so my bubble is me. Will continue to research gardening and stumbled across Bob Ross Joy of Painting site. He has a soothing voice and watching his painting come to life is amazing. The highlight of my day will be to hear that Karen has a mattress and that Tina no longer needs a Catheter. Be safe

Although the wonderful Bob Ross has been gone for many years now, I can remember - it must be at least 30 years ago now - setting aside early Saturday mornings every week in order to watch his show on PBS.

And, yes, watching his paintings come to life was (and is) amazing.

I think that one of the things that drew me to his show was the sheer suspense of it (he would start a painting from scratch, and always have it beautifully completed within the confines of a half hour show!).

When he would begin, I would always think "Well, he really blew it this time - no way is he going to pull this one off" as he began to randomly splash (and I do mean splash!) paint across his canvas.

But he always did manage to pull it off, often with spectacular results.

Many (if not most) of his old shows can be found on YouTube. There are other artists these days that paint "in the style of Bob Ross" but no one else has ever come close to old Bob.

Thanks for the memory, Shirl.

After the silverware discussion yesterday I decided to count my silverware and I'm missing 3 dinner forks. When we moved into our new house my old silverware set was missing pieces so decided to get a new set. I got a box out of the closet that has silverware in it. I must have ordered a service for 12 and only put 8 sets in the kitchen because there is a service for 4 in the box. My old set is in there and there is only a complete service for 3 but many other pieces. I looked on Replacements web site and they want $30 for a fork in my pattern. I'll be sure and tell my grandson that the next time he is here.

Not much going on here. I got the Christmas bin out to the old house. The weather is nice but very windy. The noon weather said we could have gusts to 30 mph. It has already blown a couple of buckets off the porch.

Barbie, have a nice and safe trip.

Yep, for some reason, it is only forks that disappear. Some eons in the future, someone will do an archeological dig on a dump and wonder why people in our age only used forks!! You were smart in the past to have bought service for 12 so at least you have some extra pieces.

Really slept in this morning. Problem with my sleeping is that I get up so many times during the night and the last time was over an hour awake. Makes me really tired so I sleep longer in the day. Postponed my grocery trip until tomorrow. Still too windy today. Got papers to grade today anyway.

I really like this campground here in Laughlin. Last time I was here a couple of months ago, I forgot about it and ended up in a cramped commercial park where it was 90% full timers and they had built cement patios for each site. Except those raised patios made it very hard to get parked without hitting the sharp cement edges with tires, so I ended up parking on an angle. Then had to back out. This state park is full hookup and had enormous sites, mostly pull thru. I could park a large 5th wheel behind me and a small B in front of me!! Makes it very easy to get situated.

Well, I have been busy cleaning out my car, taking out the trash, putting things away, etc. Found my new GPS and am charging that up so I can get it set up. I really could have used that yesterday, as I got lost a couple times.

I decided to go to the library to pick up a couple of holds. I checked their hours and they are open until 2. Well, I called to let them know I was coming but got a recording that they were closed. Turns out I have been thinking all day that it is Saturday today! They are closed on Fridays! I even have "Saturday" on my list of things to do today.

So I was walking thru the kitchen and the vinyl mat in front of the sink slid out from under me when I stepped on it. I thought that was odd since it has never done that before. A little while later, I walked across it again and it did it again. I lifted it up to see why it was so slippery. Tons of water underneath it!! OMG!! I called Dave to come over right away as I noticed water coming up between the wood laminate boards too. I pulled everything out from under the sink and it was all full of water too. He looked and said it is the line going to the faucet (I have one that has a hose/sprayer) that is leaking. I had him shut off the water to that line for now and will get it replaced when I get back. In the meantime, my floors are all wet under the wood laminate. I did notice a few days ago that they were looking warped on the edges. Now I don't know if I should try to pull them up before I leave to let that air dry? I don't want to have that get moldy either. Luckily, I have a box of replacement boards under my bed. Any thoughts on what I should do before I leave on my trip?? (I guess I got out of washing dishes before I leave! )

Barbie, call your insurance adjuster and ask what you should. Maybe you shouldn’t remove the boards

I do miss Bob Ross. Wish he was still around making new shows - but there are a lot of the old ones to watch, which is a good thing.

did get dishes done sat in the sun for awhile... and finished a book trouble with it was it's a 2010 published date and it was the next to the last in a series they found the treasure but didn't open it ugh!!! Shadow is up guess I ought to take a moment or 10 and take him out  back forgot to plug in the phone to charge it while the generator is running has little over an hour hopefully it will get fully charged by then guess if it isn't I can either hope it last the night or run out and plug it into the truck... at least I have a generator that is running not like it has been in the past...
so not an overly productive day although I did get the two phone calls done that I keep forgetting to do one didn't return my call so will need to call on Monday.. the important one was to get my tags paid for and that is done....except mail went out today will need to call and ask them to send them on when they arrive so I may just wait and pick both up at the same time... the next time I head that way I am going to go into Blythe and get the truck washed needs it so badly

Congratulations on the mattresses, Karen!

And, Sue, at least you are a day ahead in getting things done! And insurance often covers water damage from broken lines, so do call your insurance person.

Now, we just need news from Tina.

Karen, your new bed looks comfy! You will have sweet dreams on that! Glad it finally arrived!

I went to HD and bought a new faucet. Will wait until I get back to get it installed. I called a plumber who lives in the park here and asked him what to do about my floors. He said to just let them dry out. He said with the very low humidity, they should dry out fast now that the water is turned off. So now I have a fan on it and will leave that on until I leave in the morning.

Got an email from the park board here. We now have 6 cases of Covid here (that they are aware of). They are saying they are all due to get-togethers and parties here in the park. They said if the number climbs much more, they will shut down all activities (golf, tennis, etc) and start fining people who are not following mask and social distancing rules. I am glad our board is being tough and dealing with this.

I am almost all packed except for a few last minute things that I will do in the morning. I tried to figure out my GPS but the battery ran down too fast. I had to plug it into my car this afternoon to charge it up. Unfortunately, the only charger I got with it is one that plugs into the cigarette lighter. I need to get one that plugs into an outlet in my house. I did get it switched from Spanish to English! The route it came up with from here to Santa Barbara was not the one I want to take and I don't know how to change that. I think if I change the destination to Santa Monica, it will be right. I want to go to Santa Monice and then up the coast from there. I won't need the GPS from there anyways since I know how to get there without it. LA is just so confusing to drive thru, that I want to have it for that. I will play with it in the morning. I have it charging in the car tonight.

An old manager of mine from MN contacted me today saying she is nearby visiting a cousin and wanted to get together. I told her I am leaving for 4 days. She is in town until Wednesday afternoon so we will see if we can meet up that morning for a quick socially distanced visit.

Off to bed soon here! I want to get an early start in the morning!
