Foggy Thursdsy Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

I am beginning to think I should use plastic only when grandkids are around!! And mine are not little anymore--they are ages 11-15, and it was a 14 year-old who tossed the latest fork! I am glad at least that I don't have to buy another set. My one son had two old sets of OK stainless, and they were missing so many pieces from two sets that they had to go out and buy a new set! I have only 6 of each item in my drawer and the rest is tucked away for the future.

By the way, I have been in places for the last several months where the highs were 55-60, but am farther south now and highs all week are in mid-70s. Yea!!

I got a call this afternoon from the owner of the property I had my phone interview yesterday. He offered me the job, I accepted. I'll probably only work about 20 to 25 hours a week which I'm happy about. Beautiful country. I've wanted to spend a summer or longer in southern Utah for a long time. Now I wait on the contract.

I had place settings of maybe 24 when I went on the road. I gave most to a friend, eventually cutting mine down to 4 in the rv. I bought a cheap 4 piece place setting for in the casita because I knew I'd end up with none in the RV otherwise. I think I'm missing a spoon. And I know I lost a serving spoon at a pot luck once.

Beth, I fell in love with Utah when we were passing through. We put our motorhome in shop in Kanab, Utah. What a nice, intelligent smart bunch of men. I hope you'll enjoy being there while you're working.

It's already very chilly here. It's 43. I went outside to get the GPS out of our car because we plan on going on a road trip tomorrow in the truck and I told Steve it was cruel and unusual punishment to go out in weather like that. He reminded me how cold it is in MD and he's right.

I went on a small adventure today. I drove to Yuma to look at a conversion van. Am thinking that would be a good thing to have for taking my kayak to places I can finally use it, and set it up for camping as well. Well, in my price range, they are not in the best shape. This one wasn't too bad but still not good enough for me. Was a nice drive tho. I drove along the west side of the Salton Sea going down and planned to go back along the east side. Well, somehow I missed the turnoff and a little later I noticed the lake was on my right instead of my left. Oh well. I did stop in Salton City and went down by the lake. Almost got stuck in the soft sand but made it out and parked. Walked down by the water and took pictures on my phone of some birds hanging out there. Unfortunately, when I got home and went to look at my pics, turns out I had the camera facing ME instead of the front view, so I got a lot of pics of my goofy face!

I decided tonight that I really don't want to stay home for my birthday. Every year I go somewhere and with everything crazy going on with the threats to state and federal buildings this weekend, I really don't want to hang out at home watching that and have that to look back on for my 60th birthday! So I got online and ended up getting a motel room in Santa Barbara for 3 nights, starting Saturday. I am getting 3 nights at a really cute place I stayed at 10 years ago for my birthday right across from the beach. I got a king room with an ocean view and a patio out front. All three nights for $330 including all taxes and fees! Not bad!

So tomorrow, I need to clean house a bit and clean up my car and get packed, so I can leave early on Saturday morning. It is about a 3 1/2 hour drive from here. I can't wait! :D I love SB and lived there back when I was 25. Not sure what is open there right now, but I mostly plan to just hang out on the patio or on the beach, and maybe drive to some of the places I used to go to when I lived there. Just need an escape for a few days. Just that little jaunt today made me feel SO much better and put me in a much better mood than I have been in for awhile.

I will have a friend watch Lola for those days so she will be fine here.

Beth, I didn't hear about your new job in Utah. What kind of work and where?
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I laughed at the tale of the silverware... I admit that I do count mine as I don't want any to get tossed accidentally and I'm the only one that uses it.. I think it started when we had a family reunion up in Island Park kids there of course and one fork turns up missing (discovered it later just assuming that is when it happened) it's something that I've done for so long that I don't think I can not count the stupid silverware :o :o Shadow bumps into so much that I've been putting the bag with the garbage in the sink that way I don't have garbage all over everywhere... so it would be easy for even an adult to toss away a piece but heck this counting started well before needing to put garbage in sink
as today did get all the decorations put away except for what goes under the bed wanted to make sure that all was where it belonged first I had it up yesterday but were stuff I needed to put there that wasn't easily gotten to. Wish I could say that the tree was down... wanted to but it was windy today and the box to put it in is in the basement behind the dolls bins and I didn't want to try and shuffle stuff while it was windy... although it didn't get as windy as predicted... I think I saw where the wind was over 100 mph in Cheyenne Wyo. that is just too windy... it didn't make it easy here to do things outside... so tomorrow hopefully I will be able to get it down... but it was nice and warm actually had windows open was so nice...
That is good news Beth on the possible job hope it works out for you
and a Mattress that will be so neat Karen you won't be able to sleep for a bit... do you have a frame to put it on or is that coming later was some what confused
call my friends today to see how they were doing they have COVID so many in the area do have... it is sad though to look out were we should have many rigs to see no one that I know. and not to be planning anything... hopefully in a year we will be able to met together again...
Shirl you will so enjoy your container garden... I should do more than flowers but it is hard growing stuff in the area that I go to for the summer your best bet is quick growing lettuce root crops some tomatoes but by the time they are almost ready to ripen a freeze comes... we have had good luck with walls of water to give them a head start even then I think sil doesn't get them out soon enough and they just don't do well... peas work but by the time I get up there it's too late to plant them...
you all have a good day

I have a bed set up in the guest room, no mattresses.............until tomorrow. MY bedroom set is coming on Saturday so will have them put one set on the guest bed and just put mine in my bedroom until Saturday when they deliver my bedroom set the burly boys can put my mattress on my bed. 60? Meh. You are still a 'Sweet Young Thing'.

Congratulations and Happy Birthday. :D

My birthday is coming up a few days after yours. Not gonna admit to the number. A Sweet young thing I am most definitely not.

More like 'Crochety Old Grouch'. :?
