Foggy Thursdsy Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Foggy Thursdsy Morning

Morning all. Just checking in. Not much to report in my world.. Foggy outside. Mild winter continues but will be changing tonight. Only 34 inches of snow so far this winter. Should have had around 71 by now. But it’s not over.

Michigam moved into it’s 3rd phase of vaccinations this week. Those 65 and over, essential workers, EMT’s, teachers etc. so far 233,000 have been vaccinated in the first two stages. State requested to purchase another 100,000 doses now that the gov’t. Is releasing the stored supply. I am going to wait till after I have my eye surgery next month before I get one. Rather take one thing at a time.

Beth, sorry you are having more HW issues. Just saw on news where it looks like another stimulus package is in the plans once the Biden admin gets in office. This will include at $2000 stimulus check, so hopefully you might be able to fix that thing once and for all.

Heading to Home Depot to get some more paint chips. . Thought I had a color picked out, but it’s too light. New bedding supposed to be here tomorrow for my bedroom, then will decide on color for in there. Can take a sham to the store with me.

So that’s all the news from here. Have a great day!

Morning All, coffee is hot so come on in and chat awhile. My last day of PT, boo hoo. I have no pain so therapy is over. I will try to keep up with at home exercise. Governor Hogan speaking tonight regarding vaccine. Hope Maryland is moving to next phase. I submitted an on line form requesting the vaccine. The apartment is still a cluttered mess. I realized it will be so as long as the bins are sitting around. The tree must go. :D Be safe

Mornin' Shirl and all that follow~~~
I can officially mark Big Bend NP off the list. Two days driving all the paved road but one, which is under construction which is open for a few hours a day. No closure on Sunday, but I leave that day. From what others here have said, the scenic drive is the best, which I did on the first day.

I'd suggest if anyone heads this way to stay at the Lajitas Golf Resort & RV Ranch. Way more expensive than I like to spend, but the other campgrounds look more like junk yards. I'll also check out the SP for camping options, but I couldn't get a site there.

A couple smaller sightseeing things to see here, like the Tetlingua ghost town.

This being a dark sky area, I saw a meteor last night. The tail was blue and yellow as it traveled. It was pretty low and I'd guess it may have landed in the park somewhere. How cool is that!? Did you know meteor tails always point towards the sun?

That's it from me. Have a good day ladies stay safe and good luck with getting the vaccine if you choose to do so.

Made it to Medford yesterday and it was a beautiful day for a drive. I got to see my beloved mountains, oh how I miss them. I got to sleep in a "real" bed last night. WOW I cant wait for Friday when my mattresses arrive. Eye doc appt today and tomorrow morning then right after that I head back to my house for the much anticipated arrival It is about 1 1/2 hours to home. Bedroom set to come on Saturday, all except my dresser but at least I will have 2 beds. Weather is cooperating so far. Then on Monday I have to head back down here for my Rheumatologist infusion. I would have just stayed her until that was over except for my deliveries. Oh well, after this (and I get my dresser) deliveries will be OVER. Well except for Amazon LOL

Haven't heard where they are giving the vaccine for 65+ here in Oregon yet. They said they would let us know on Friday....we shall see. We are not doing very well expediting this process, in fact we are one of the lowest states rolling out the vaccine. Will just wait and see. I will get it when available but sure not waiting hours in line to get it. Will just continue living in my little bubble.

Ok time to get ready for my eye scans and shot. I dont like the scan day because they dilate both eyes and that takes a while to wear off. Tomorrow is just a shot day in the other eye with no dilation so not nearly as bad.

My DH and I have appointments next week for the vaccine! I am very nervous but decided it's a risk either way. I received our stimulus debit card in the mail yesterday. Just saw where many people think it is an ad and have cut them up or thrown them away! On the card is a label that says call this number to activate your card. So I called the number and a recorded message says no action is required. Humm why did I think this would be easy....Has anyone else received a card and if so did how did you set it up?
Good luck with your deliveries Karen!!

Good morning Everybody. Shirl, I’ll have some of that hot coffee.

Cheryl, I loved the time I spent at Big Bend. We were camped in the no reservations campground right by the river. Had to drive away to get cell phone coverage. I remember the windmill was still pumping water at the abandoned homestead and the bluebonnets were just starting to bloom.

My news.... I am scheduled to get my first vaccine shot on February 11 at 7:10 am. The early appointments were still open! My call went right through and my appointment is at the medical center where I always go. Let’s hope there won’t be a snow storm and the driving is okay.

Tina, I’m still thinking about you and getting the Treks together, so keep getting stronger. Enjoy today. Peggy

Our beautiful sunny weather continues. I continue my water jogging every day. Went to library on the scooter and picked up five books I had on hold. Thinking of you Tina, hope you’re making some progress towards returning to health. Lyn

I ordered a box of the flavor coffee I like but they just shipped it and I ran out. Yesterday I got some Community French Vanilla and Cinnabon flavor. The French Vanilla is ok but not too sure about the Cinnabon.

It is 66, sunny and very windy. Must be humid because the cement is wet.

Sue, Michigan seems to be doing a better job with the vaccinations than Louisiana. It is hard to get any information at all. One of the hospitals in Lafayette is giving vaccinations to their patients that qualify but I'm not a patient there. They are the one doing the contacting, not taking reservations. It is going to take forever if only a few pharmacies get 100 doses ever so often. It looks like all the Mardi Gras celebrations and parades are being cancelled. The bar owners are still trying to sue the governor but that is going no where. Some people are just asking to get sick.

Karen, hope they don't make you drive all the way home and not show up with your mattresses.

The parish is mowing the ditches this morning. Our ditches are full of tree limbs from the hurricanes and they still haven't cleaned that up yet. I kind of doubt that they are going to pick up the limbs. Guess they have to rot unless the mower chops them up. He is sure making a lot of noise.

My clothes hamper was full so started a load of wash. Put a pound of baby lima beans in the slow cooker with one of the huge ham hocks my son got for me. Will have to make cornbread later. Can't have beans without cornbread.

I was going through one of the file folders in the tax box this morning and found a fork. That is kind of indicative of my house cleaning. Last year I found a plate in one of the folders.

Martha, does your local health department have useful information? My country dept had an online form to submit if interested in the vaccine. Have you been looking for that fork. :D

Martha, thank you. I laughed out loud about your fork and plate.

Lucky you.

My northern California county has nothing like that.

However, they have "updated" the sequence in which people will be eligible to be vaccinated. Before, I was in the (I think) third group eligible to be vaccinated. I have now been moved "up" (??) so that I am now in the fifth group eligible to be vaccinated.

The "groups" are these:

Phase 1a - Tier 1 (This is the group currently being vaccinated)
Phase 1a - Tier 2
Phase 1a - Tier 3
Phase 1b - Tier 1
Phase 1b - Tier 2 (This is me)
Phase 1c

Here is the statement on the County website:

"The COVID-19 vaccine will be given in several phases throughout the next couple of months. We are currently in Phase 1a which is available to direct healthcare workers and residents of long-term care facilities (i.e. skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, group homes)."

At this rate it might be August or September before I get to the head of the line.

This is not comforting.

I'm pretty sure the plate slid off the top of the printer into the folder behind the printer. Not too sure about the fork. The cats must have knocked it off the desk into the open file drawer. I do most of my eating at my desk. The last time my grandson was here I found a fork in the trash that he had thrown away. He cooks a whole bag of frozen Chinese food, picks out what he likes and dumps the rest. I would still be dancing if my dad would have caught me doing that. Maybe I need to count my forks. lol

I looked on the local health clinic web site and there is no information.

I made it to another Big Bend, but this one is Big Bend of the Colorado River State Park in Laughlin, NV!! I got up this morning and got an early start because I had mostly packed up last night. Nevada state parks are all first-come, first-served, so if you do not get there early, you lose. And this one has only 24 spots! Anyway, I got the last one, I think. It is handicap, but I do have a permit, so I am legit. I filled out the envelope and put cash in it for 4 days. Taped everything to my front window, and started out to find the place where you are supposed to stick the envelopes in, but found it was way back at the ranger station, and it is really, really windy today--a real sandstorm. I had trouble walking and getting a lot of sand in my eyes, so I came back to my spot and am hoping the ranger stops by to collect. Nice that all spots are full hookup, however.

Martha, when I was married, way way way back in the mid-60s, I got some very good Oneida stainless for silverware. However, over the years, I was missing a lot of forks--mostly from my sons throwing them away. However, one day, about 20 years ago, I was in my favorite china shop getting a wedding gift for one of my kids and found a basket with my stainless in it for $1 per piece because it was out of stock. Wow. Even then it retailed for about $20 a place setting, so I scooped up a bunch of pieces. Unfortunately I did not do what I should have done, which is to pick out every single piece they had in my pattern. Anyway, I again had to order some more forks a couple of years ago, but hopefully now I have enough extra pieces to last my my lifetime. Except, last June, my son caught one of my grandsons throwing his plate away with a fork on it!! Is this a boy thing or just a generational thing???

Going to Walmart's tomorrow to stock up on things--got a long list. I am definitely not going to sit out or for a walk in this wind and blowing sand!! I had left the bathroom vent open an inch and had to wipe sand off my toilet seat!! Got the AC going now because it does not bring in outside air.

Anyone hear from Tina?? Hope she is eating and got all her tubes taken out.

Hi ladies! We woke up to the low 40's this morning and that's where we'll be when we get up in the morning. This time next week
we're supposed to get back into the mid 70's. I can't wait.

The resort had a spaghetti dinner yesterday that we bought tickets for. It was take out only and I made a hamburger for them to put the sauce on since I don't eat pasta. It was very good.

The sheet rock was hung in our casita yesterday so we're taking one step at a time. The kitchen cupboards are scheduled for delivery Feb 22.

Judy, I'm missing a fork from my set of silverware, which disappeared the weekend Steve & I hosted a family reunion in our gazebo and have a feeling it was thrown out as well.

Please stay safe everyone.
