Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday

Morning All, I was up late searching container gardening. Had a fun appointment with the physical therapist yesterday. An elderly woman was telling Rick that she and her husband went outside to take done their huge blow up Frosty and Santa decorations. She lost her balance, fell and couldn’t get up so called for her husband. He didn’t come and when she managed to see him, he was on the ground too. (By now the whole PT facility was laughing) The husband managed to get up but his pants were falling down from his struggle. She said “can you imagine what the neighbors were thinking, those two old people rolling on the ground and his pants falling down”. Rick said “I bet Frosty was mortified too.” I haven’t laugh that hard in a year. The woman had an infectious laugh and gave more details. Could only be appreciated by the old timers there with their injuries and top notch staff. I will miss them. Going to spend the day planing a balcony garden. Be safe

Oh, Shirl, I'm laughing. Most falls that don't cause injuries are funny. And even some that do, after the fact. Please take pictures to share as you get going on your container gardening. It was only in the teens here when I woke up. It's up to 31 now and heading to the upper 60's and better temps for the next 7 days. Yay. I'm leaning towards not fixing the hot water tank this visit. I can use the rv shower and that can be a project for another time. I guess I need to work this summer and save. Hopefully I'll find something better than DV!

Beth, I have tried to post pictures many times without success. I have an Apple I Pad Air 2 I email pictures all the time but can’t post here. I’m not savvy enough to know if something in settings is blocking it.

Good morning gals! :D

Still hanging out in bed going thru emails, etc. Just called my doctor to find out what the holdup is with getting a referral for PT. Geez!! They said that my insurance company says I am not signed up with them. WTH?? I just can't believe the total inefficiency with these insurance companies! I have never had issues like this before. So my doctor is looking into it again to see what the problem is.

I also have an appointment to get tested again today. I have had this lingering cough for awhile which is actually getting worse (I feel fine otherwise) and with the cases within my park here, I want to be sure (and reassure others) that I am in the clear with Covid. Took me almost a week to get an appointment out here. I was reading the e-mail last night they sent me about my appointment and apparently (much to my relief!!) they have swithed from sticking the swab up the nose, to having us do our own swabbing in the mouth. Watched a video on how to do that. I really hated that "up the nose" testing! Painful and made my eyes water for quite awhile! Supposedly the results come back in about 24 hours. We'll see...

Was gonna stop at the library to pick up some books on hold, but they have cut their hours back and are closed today.
Still need to order stuff from WM for pickup. Also need to take out the trash. Something I put in there is not smelling too good this morning!

Catherine, sorry to hear that your son and his family have Covid. Hope they recovery quickly!

Have a good day and stay safe!

Barbie, sorry to hear that you are having problems with your insurance.

However, this is no surprise. It has been my observation over time that insurance companies are quick to want to collect premium payments, slow (sometimes to the extreme) to pay claims. Every day that a claim is not paid (or coverage is denied) is a day (or a week, or a month) that they can continue to collect interest on the unpaid claim money.

This amount is not much for the individual, of course, but when spread over thousands (or maybe tens of thousands) of individual claimants, this can add up to a quite a tidy sum.

"Arguably the second most common form of insurance fraud is committed by insurance companies themselves. According to the legal website NOLO: “Also known as ‘bad faith insurance practices,’ fraudulent activities on the part of insurers include actions such as denying valid insurance claims, denying coverage to individuals for certain conditions that should be covered, failing to properly investigate claims, and deliberately underpaying claims.”

Velda and Catherine: My prayers are sent for those dear to you who are affected by this terrible scourge. Hoping that they will soon recover.

Anne, my insurance is thru the state. I pay nothing for premiums or co-pays. Maybe because it is state insurance and probably half of the state is on this now, they are having issues. But if I have a card with a member ID# and have used the card before with no problem and my doctor is issuing the referral, I don't know why they are saying I am not in their system or can't get approval.

I woke up in the middle of the night with burning pain in my upper arm where my shoulder pain shoots down to. Must have moved it wrong in my sleep. It is definitely getting worse and I have less mobility with it now. I am getting concerned about how bad it will be when I go back to work, if I don't get something done soon. Worse comes to worst, I can get a cortisone shot for the pain, but that doesn't get to the cause and treatment.

Barbie, well over a year ago, I was diagnosed with a torn rotator cuff and bone spurs in my right shoulder after having an MRI. I got the cortisone shot, which I never felt, and other than occasional bouts of discomfort, I'm fine. It's worth considering. I'm so glad I decided to go that route. My doctor said that eventually, I will have to have my shoulder replaced, but I'm happy with the Band Aid approach!

The resort is having a spaghetti dinner this evening. We bought tickets for it and they are carry out only. I'm fixing a hamburger for me, to have the sauce on with the meatballs since I don't eat pasta. It's been chilly all day with temperatures only in the mid 50's with lots of cloud cover, but it's still better than the weather at our home, where Shirl is.

We had a nice sunny, warmer day. I went to town to get cat food and of course I had to go to Walmart again. That was about all I accomplished.

I have been having problems with the shoulder I dislocated. I looked around and found the pulley I used to do PT. There is a rope with handles that goes through the pulley and hooks over a door. Now to see if I can remember the exercises I had to do.

More water problems today so I had to turn the water off to the casita again. The plumber is coming back in the morning to find out why water was leaking from the water heater he shut it off to yesterday. My only thought is there was still water in one of the lines that froze in our very cold overnight and caused it. But that scares me that more damage might have occured. I'm leaning more towards not replacing or repairing at this time. But I need at least the cold to come in. I did have a phone interview for a job today and I'm hopeful. It wouldn't be full time but would pay for all hours worked and give me a free site. Would start early April if I get it. I kind of like cutting back how much I work and think I'd be ok financially... If things quit breaking. Lol.

My sister had rotator cuff surgery long ago. For a good year after she said she wished she hadn't but then the pt finally put her in a position that she says now it was worth it. Shots, etc, didn't help her at all. But we're all different.

Barbie and Irmi I bought a spaghetti dinner from Safeway (being lazy) and I blame you Barbie because of your talk from Christmas. I've already eaten two meals from it and have at least one more left. It's pretty good and best that I didn't have to cook it.

I got thru the Covid test. Actually, there was hardly anyone there. Pulled right up, got my kit, pulled up to do the test and that was it. 5 minutes! I am usually there between 1 and 2 hours waiting. The line for vaccinations was much longer tho.

Stopped at WM for my stuff and then home. Tried to watch the news but just too depressing. Think I will need to stay away from it until next Wednesday.

Off to bed early tonight.

I have had three rotator cuff surgeries and would do it again. I have no pain and full range of motion. I swear by physical therapy. If you do go go to PY after surgery you will have problems.
