Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday

Postby Shirlv » Fri Jan 08, 2021 9:06 am

Good Morning All, drinking coffee by the Christmas Tree and texting with daughter about our aches and pains. All straight with the rental office. It helped that she just got a Christmas card that was mail 12/14. Lol Fixing pork and sauerkraut in the crockpot and will share with my brother. Delivering his dinner will require a nice ride in the country. Martha, I will look for 3” ice cream cones but might eat two. Beth will be watching for your casita update. Remember duct tape is cheap and a single woman’s best friend. :D Just kidding , I bet Sue has a few tricks up her sleeve to help you out. Irmi and Karen keep the pictures coming. Be safe

Good morning Shirl. I am just sitting here sipping my coffee. Need to go to the lovely DMV this morning. I do have an appt. I need to renew my drivers license as it expires next month, change my address, and turn in my application for a new title to my car (we all know where that went). I dread going there but it might be okay because you have to have an appointment, we shall see. Since I wasnt sure where it was the dog and I took a short drive yesterday....found it easily.

Update to follow after my appt LOL

Still drinking coffee this morning. I'm almost out of the flavored K-cups and hope I don't forget to order some this morning. What I need to do and what actually gets done are two different things.

Karen, two of the DMV offices North of here were closed for some reason. Probably something to do with Covid. There was a discussion about it on FB and someone posted that they alway go to the office in Abbeville. We have a good office with nice people that are actually helpful. I felt like posting "Please don't tell people about Abbeville". lol The other day I noticed that the inspection sticker on the truck expired in October.

I don't know what is going on with the post office. The package I sent to my grandson on December 11 was delivered yesterday. Someone told me that letters mailed in Abbeville go to Baton Rouge to get processed and if they are going to an Abbeville address are sent back. If you want a letter not to do that you have to go to the window and ask. I just looked at a letter from the guy that farms the estate and it has a Baton Rouge stamp so it must be true. That doesn't make much sense to me.

I looked on line to find out who is giving the shots and the local Thrifty Way and the Super 1 pharmacy are listed. I called Thrifty Way and they only got 100 doses and are out. The waiting list is over 500 people so they are not taking any more reservations. At that rate it's going to take a long time to get vaccinated.

I didn't take my Christmas tree down but went in the old house and got the green container for Christmas stuff and washed it. Maybe today I can get the Christmas stuff packed away.

Well well well.

Doing my usual morning web surfing, ran across this website I really didn't need to see. :(

I recommend that no one here visits there either - that is, if you value your teeth. :o

OK, so I guess my teeth will just rot.  Went in this morning for my teeth cleaning after that whole insurance fiasco a couple weeks ago and a month before that. Seems the dental hygenist is on vacation so "let's reschedule!" She said they called about it but I didn't get a call. I got an email the other day to confirm the appointment for today.
I am getting really tired of all this! Maybe I will have to find a new dentist. In the meantime, I have (supposedly) a new appointment in February.

Enough ranting...

I have noticed a similar color theme going on inside and outside of my house lately. Teal and orange. The outside, the porch, the bathroom and the bedroom. So I am going to change up a couple rooms. I got a new comforter in gray and mauve colors (WM on sale for $30 for a Bed In A Bag) and will do mauve valances in there. I think I still have the old bathroom stuff from the other house in a bin in the shed and that is green, white and yellow. My kitchen is red and beige and the living room is green and beige. Need to mix it up a bit! I am not committed to the teal and orange in the porch yet (haven't bought anything in those colors for that room yet) so I can still do something different in there. Maybe peach and light green.

I am so good at planning things, but no so good at executing those plans.

Gorgeous day today! Got my golf cart charged up finally. I meant to do that the other day but forgot, so yesterday when I went to pick up my putter that I left at the course on Tuesday, my cart died on the way there. I was close to Dave and Debbies place so I waited a little bit and got it running again slowly and made it to their place. Got it plugged in there and they let me use their cart to go home for a few hours. Got it back home last night and plugged it in to finish charging. I need to check the batteries for water levels. 7 batteries in there!!

Tonight is the last episode of Jeopardy with Alex Trebec. It was his last show and I guess it was pretty moving and emotional with his farewell speech. He died just a short time after that was filmed. :(

I thought I paid for my Jeep registration on line a couple weeks ago but haven't received my tag yet. I better go back online and see if I actually did! :o Don't want to get pulled over for expired tags. :o Also need to pay for the registration on my park model. Not due til the end of January but may as well pay it now since I have the money.

Have a good day! :D

edit...Ann, I was a good girl today! I stopped at a kid's store to pick up a swim noodle (for putting on the handles of my laundry baskets) and walked right past all those tempting old fashioned candies they sell there!

Today began with 32 min (1.26 mi on treadmill, a 17 min beginner w/o on Total Gym then 2 min on rebounder. I'm tired a bit, but never was winded, so guess I need to try harder!
Need to shower, start load of laundry, fold sheets I put in dryer, and put some books on Nextdoor to see if anyone wants the. 2 bags of never opened WW cookbooks. I quit soon after I bought them as it wasn't working for me. Need to cut boxes for recycle and take them over to the bin at the park for cardboard. The TG box is huge, might have to have Sean take it, he lives much closer to the park than me, though im only about a mile away, but he has a truck. I have a truck, but it's behind lumber he brought.
I gave up candy in 2017, and though I've tried a bit or two since, it just doesn't taste good anymore, too icky sweet. tried it out of curiosity, not because it called to me like it used to. It's amazing how your taste changes when you cut junk food.
That all should keep me busy the rest of the day.
Have a good rest of yiur day.

I survived the DMV. Actually it was easy peasy. I had an appt for 8:30 got there about 5 minutes early, they check you in at the door, then go inside, get a number (7 was up on the reader board and I was 10) waited about 5 minutes. I had all the paperwork already filled out for new title request, had my papers to show I lived here, and he didnt ask for anything else. Took my vision test, got my picture taken, and BAM I am out the door. I was shocked to say the least. I then went to Walmart and got a few things I knew I needed. WD40, Duct tape, and Silicone spray was on my list LOL Of course I bought quite a few other things some were on my list and some were not ha ha

Barbie the news said not to expect any farewell speeches on this weeks final episode. He did not even know he was going to die. I am sure they will have some sort of tribute to him or something. He gave a moving speech mostly related to covid and doing our part a couple weeks ago so maybe he knew the end was near. How is your organizational group working for you???

Have my handyman coming over tomorrow to help me hang some blinds. The one I got is too heavy for one person. He is also going to install my towel racks hee hee

Not much rain today and the sun even peeked out a time or two. Well time for some afternoon Caramel Vanilla latte.

Lots and lots of little bunnies around here at Willow Beach Campground. For one thing, the park service planted a lot of desert shrubs, bunches of decorative grasses, and small trees in the campground, and every single one has drip irrigation. This means lot of seeds and stuff for bunnies to eat, plus lots of places for them to hide under. I had to drive down to the office (it is down a long hill) today and the lady at the desk mentioned that the camp host feeds them regularly, and I also knew they were out of town, so I figured it was OK to feed the animals! Anyway, my neighbor has been feeding them carrots and cut up apples, plus some lettuce, but she said they only eat the lettuce when the carrots and apple pieces are gone.

So, I had some small carrots in my refrigerator that were getting a little old, so I tossed about four out of my door--it was instant bunnies! They obviously know what it means when you throw something. There was a big flock of little sparrows who were very disappointed because obviously they thought they were getting bird seed! Carrots and apples are just not their things, so they flew away. Bunnies really liked the carrots, so I will toss some out tomorrow and take photos.

Also, did two loads of laundry and have stuff that I did not want to dry all the way in the dryer hanging all over my RV. It will be dry soon and will need to be folded and put away. Other than that, not much else going on, other than answering questions from students. Also, my scrape on my foot is doing much better. It is about 1/3 the width it was originally, so is healing from the sides, but it is still really sore. I've been keeping it covered with antibiotic ointment on it at night, but letting it dry out during the day. Except I did a lot of walking around today, and it was cracking, so I put a new bandage with bactricin on it because I did not want it bleeding. The swelling from my knee and bruises in my left leg is a lot better, as well.

Just what we need, an online candy store. I made it through Christmas without ordering any sponge candy or making any. The sponge candy I make is so hard and sticky I'm afraid I'm going to lose a tooth. The lumber yard had the red candy covered peanuts and I had to get a bag every time I went there. They closed down so can't get any.

Barbie, I would like to take my email and phone number back from the dentist. I think they start with the reminders about 3 weeks out. Guess they weren't making enough money so have started advertising new services.

I joined the FB decluttering group but they haven't motivated me much. I did get some of the Christmas stuff into the bin. I started a folder for the tax papers that come in this month. I have been going through some magazines today and throwing them away.

My camping groups next campout is next week but don't think I'm going. I had enough cold camping. Sugar wants to hang out side at night. That's probably why she got bronchitis.

Martha, about 25 years ago, my niece sent me a recipe for English Toffee, so I made a batch. Except I tried tasting a piece of the mixture before it had cooled. Cap came off and I swallowed it, costing me $800 for a replacement. I still call it my $800 batch of English Toffee! Decided it was safer to buy it, so never have made it since. I am a lot more careful these days about what I put in my mouth that can break teeth or cause cap problems.

And yes, I did scan the pages of the online candy store that naughty Anne posted, but at least I did not buy any.

I didn't even look at the site Anne posted  got my pkg from my son today it was a box full of Utah Truffle mint I love that candy bar...usually melt part of the bar in hot chocolate not ever cup when a different flavor sounds good either that or mix up some Mexican hot chocolate... I didn't count how many of these bite size bars he sent will need to do that also pkg of mini chocolate chip cookies again didn't count them so I laughed at it wondering what the real gift was and there it was a pkg wrapped with a card opened card again laughed cause I know my son had to have picked it out as it was for Mommy Mommy being the best mommy fun and ..... unsigned laughed at that as well... then the gift unwrapped it and it was a box of See's candy guess I got a "sweet" gift... I don't know if my mom has opened her yet or not curious to hear what she thought of all her sweet's... never have had a box of See's candies... my dd youngest sent me my b'day gift with his already knew what it was and even though b'day isn't for a few days I wore them tonight when I took Shadow out ...new flip flops yea!!! didn't feel the rocks at all :?
and I have a neighbor pulled in sometime today about the same spot as Kerry would typically be... so got to remember to turn off the genny on time...
so when I went in to get the new pump for pumping water from the barrel to the tank more expensive than I planned on it being :o but it is needed although I am sure that my friends would continue doing it but hate to be dependent on them... while there went to talk with the tv people she was telling me (and it will be interesting to hear what Direct tv says) but she also set up Direct as well as Dish and Hughes net... that the new satellite to handle to the system that they have costs 2000 yikes!!! if that is true and I have no reason not to believe her as she was "selling" both... I guess they will loose another RV customer from what she said ATandT want to phase out the full timers as they didn't have it in their ability's although Direct Tv did I remember when we went to full timing that Direct was recommended as the best to use... and from what she said AT&T are looking to sell Direct so who knows what will happen to it ... a phone call I need to take care of if I'd signed up today would have tv tonight and would be watching Blue Bloods but I didn't :( she did tell me that the domes that are out there won't work on the new systems that AT&T (Direct) are going to have... I am glad that I didn't buy one last summer gave it a thought but didn't act upon it... I guess that I will look at my banking and see if it will handle Dish it's 300 for the dome and get that set up and then remember that I can watch tv... been so long since I've had it but do miss what I used to watch...
so that was my day did get information for the guys that come out and wash your rig... they will look at mine and charge me double but to be honest it would be worth it...
so that was my day...
you all have a good one

Years ago my neighbor would give us a big box of See's candy. This was when my boys were kids and we would end up with a box of half eaten candy. They would take a bite and if they didn't like it, put it back in the box. I started cutting every piece in the box in half so they could see what was inside.

I have Directv and would take a receiver from the house camping. Then Direct upgraded the receivers and they wouldn't work with my dome satellite or the portable one at the camp. The Rv shop put a box in my motorhome and the receiver worked for a while but now nothing is working. I'm tired of messing with it. If it wasn't for the weather channel I would get rid of Direct.

When I was little, my dad worked for Whitman's for a few years. We had candy all over the basement in boxes! All kinds of candy, not just chocolate. The neighbor kids loved coming over! For most of my dad's life, he gave friends and family Whitmans Samplers in the big boxes that you can still buy around the holidays.

My mom also had a job with Hostess and would bring home the rejects at the end of each day. We had Snowballs, Ho-Hos, pies, Cupcakes, Twinkies, etc, all the time! It is amazing that we didn't all get diabetes back then!
