Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Morning All, another one of those nights. Staring at the ceiling until 3 am, ate that ice cream bar with dark chocolate too late. The battle with the cable company over my missing $70/payment has been resolved, they found it. Yesterday received a letter from rental manager that the rent was pass due. Was paid on line 12/17 but bank sends paper check. Lots of complaints in this area about delayed mail. Will go to battle again after more coffee. Some days it takes more than a Christmas tree. I ration those Dove ice cream bars but maybe another one today only after lunch. Be safe

Good Morning everyone. I’m sure that you like me are shocked and saddened by the events that took place in Washington yesterday. The very core of our Democracy being attacked by an unruly mob and the lives of of government leaders at stake was shocking to see. I watched the return of Congress last night after the Capital was secured and it was a very subdued body of lawmakers. But they were all United in that they would finish the business they had started earlier and weren’t going to let insurrections stop them. We will be hearing about this for days and weeks to come. As I write this, some members of the President’s w cabinet are meeting to discuss invoking the 25th Amendment.

But enough of that. Nothing new here in Northern Michigan. Wi ter has been conspicuously absent here. I’m sure it will make an appearance one of these days. Can’t say that I had been up to a heck of a lot either. Trying to decide on some paint colors for my bedrooms, but nothing seems to catch my fancy. But the dogs and have been enjoying some nice walks.

Tina, glad to hear you are improving, hang in there. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Shirl, sounds like you are moving along. Love your cheery posts. I’ve been reading but not posting, so I do keep track of all of you. My mind is not on posting much this morning. Have a nice day everyone.

Good morning, Shirl, Sue & all who come later.

I was awake off & on last night making sure Congress finished their business. I agree, Sue, what happened yesterday was disgraceful.

Covid-19 has come close to my family. My son's father & mother in-laws are both positive. Their family had rented a place in the mountains the weeked after New Year's Day so everyone was exposed. Needless to say, they are all quarantining for the next couple of weeks so I won't have the kids for a while. Thankfully, I have stayed isolated from their family since the start of this. I'd been taking care of my son's dogs at his house while they were gone, but switched from staying there overnight to just going a couple of times a day to let them in and/or out. Even though the in-laws hadn't been there since Christmas, it was still spooky being there.

My DD & I will move her bed & small Ikea dresser later next week - without my son's help. I went down there on New Year's day to assess how heavy it was & much to my surprise, it won't be that bad. Defintiely doable for the 2 of us. I'm glad she sold the loveseat that she & I laughed our way through getting it up to her 2nd floor apartment when she first moved in. I had proposed we just dump it over the railing as a last resort if she couldn't sell it.

Not having the kids has given me a bit of a vacation to prepare my place for my DD moving in. I'm sure by mid-Feb when she leaves, she'll be more than ready to get on the plane to join her hubby. ;)

Stay safe out there.

Good afternoon all. Started dreary this morning but now enjoying some sunshine and blue sky. Finally! Not warm by any means but it is January in PA so to be expected. I too was up and down all night watching the going ons in Washington. So sad what happened yesterday. Unbelievable day. Catherine, I know what you mean about the COVID hitting close to home. My youngest son is off right now with symptoms similar to the virus. He was fighting a sinus infection and being treated but last week he got sick at work and had a test on Saturday which came back negative on Monday. Because he wasn’t doing better and dealing with an up and down fever along with other signs his doctor decided he should have another test yesterday. So we wait again for those results. Luckily I declined holiday visits so 14 days on Monday since I had a very brief visit from him when he dropped off some gifts for me. Only about 10 minutes so I’ve felt pretty safe. But still scary. My neighbors got home about 3 AM this morning. It’ll be nice to know they’re there even if we don’t socialize a lot! Sue, I wish I could enjoy winter as much as you do! I think if we had more sun it would be easier to tolerate! Maybe!! Beth, hope your new hearing aids work out for you. Tina, slow but sure before you and the pups are taking your wanders through the woods. This site is always my reading in the morning with my coffee so good to hear from everyone. My thanks to each and every one of you ladies. Please stay safe.

This is a question for our Nurses? The doctor did call in a script for Regan ? for me to see if it would work better. I had had my Home Heslth Care nurse contact his office to see if there was something else that I could try. (Well the Pottert man just picked it up a while ago. But his story is he dropped the package being handed out the winder just as he put his foot on the gas.....can we say crunch? maybe half the pills are still intact....) Anyway,,,,,I read through the possible side effects and they seem scarier than usual,,,,especially mentioning women over 65..... Since today hasn't been too bad I think I am going to wait and check with my HHCNurse tomorrow but I know some of you hare very experienced of these things. I am gratefully for any information you feel pertinent. PM me or send me and e-mail: dogsandpeople@yahoo.com

I read the first couple posts while still half asleep this morning. And hours later I'm still half asleep lol I got very little sleep last night... Stayed up until Congress got the election confirmed then was awake early.

It seems we are all dealing with family and friends with Covid. I hope we all see good outcomes.

I wasn't going to get to my park until next Wednesday. But the office called today to tell me the person who was in my site has already been moved to another site and I can come anytime. So my plans now are to head there Monday. My back is acting up and I was just thinking that I'll enjoy that old used recliner I purchased for the casita. I'm hoping I can find very inexpensive ways to do some projects in the casita as my expendable money is low at the moment and I don't want to use savings for these projects.

Ty got to meet 3 dogs on our walk around here this morning. I met their owners, while we social distanced and the dogs played and sniffed each other.

Tina, I hope someone else can help with your question. You deserve to be feeling better.

I was up most of the night too. It was so sad to see what was going on yesterday. I can see why a lot of the WH staff is resigning but I hope some stay to watch dumb ass.

I went to Lafayette to give blood and that took up most of my day. Stopped at Piccadilly to pick up a dinner. They had fresh strawberry pie and I wanted to get 2 pieces so much but just got one. Shirl, I found some mini-nutty-buddy cones that are only about 3 inches long and 70 calories. It's enough to satisfy my ice cream craving without a lot of calories.

My vet called to check on Sugar. She seems to be doing ok. She only coughed a couple of times this morning and is still on antibiotics.

It has been gray and in the 50's all day. The sky sure looks funny but there isn't any rain on the radar. I better go feed before the news. If I wait until after it's almost dark.
