Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday

Good Morning All, another ho hum day. I canceled my two PT appointments for this week. I have what I am sure is a head cold. No fever or other symptoms except a stuffy head. Taking Claritin and feeling ok. Do not want to endanger the PT facility if I am wrong. Watched Governor Hogan press conference and now appreciate how daunting vaccinating a whole country can be. If all goes as planned I should be able to get the vaccine in February. Where is still to be determined. Will continue with PT exercises, watching Gardners World and playing Spider Solataire . :D Be safe

shirl reading your posts and recognizing your determination to keep looking forward inspires me. All we can do is what we can do. After looking at the results of my CT scan and blood draws the doctor determined that though the inflection is much better it still needs an additional IV.antibiotics of one more week at least. Sigh. Next doc appts scheduled for the 12th and 13th. All the news for now. Sitting in the chair at the desk has not come back yet..... Tina

Good morning Shirl. Our vaccine rollout is certainly not going well. We (Oregon) are one of the lowest states in getting people vaccinated. Not sure why. At this rate I will be a while before I can get it. People are frustrated with why this isnt working very well here. We have the doses, it is the rollout procedure that they are having trouble with. Oh well I will just continue with my same old routine. Stay home and stay safe.

My project for today is to try to figure out how to install a new towel rack. Geez never seen one like this. Might just be taking it back as the instructions are not very good. Got frustrated with it yesterday so decided to just put it in "time out" for now.

Took some hamburger out so I can make taco salad tomorrow.. I bought some of the premade taco bowls so we will see how they taste. I have always made my own but not today I dont have any tortillas...darn.

OK now for some exciting news............my washer and dryer will be delivered this afternoon. Got the call with the time frame so pretty sure it will happen. Havent heard anything on the mattresses for delivery on the 15th yet. But no cancellation notice either...........we shall see. Bedroom set is waiting for bed rails and slats but everything else is in.....hmmmmmmmmmmm we shall see. No date for delivery so we just dont know. This is all the final stuff I need then can get things back to my "new normal".

Good morning Everybody from sunny, but cold CT. I’m getting my hair done today. Yay!

One of our supermarkets was having a can sale this week, so I sent my son to do the buying. He spent under $50 and we have enough canned tuna fish and beans of 4 different varieties, and pizza sauce to last a year; nothing is close to expiring... the supply chain must be back to normal....still no Knox gelatin

Scary news coming out of LA; not enough oxygen for all the patients who need it. This is all so heart breaking. Our governor has been working tirelessly to control the virus in CT. He is very calm and deliberate in his thinking and has put together the best team to keep us all informed.

Tina, yes, all we can do is keep keeping on. Steady the course and someday soon we’ll go Roadtrekkin’. Enjoy today. Peggy

Governor Hogan explained it very well and am sure it is the same in most states. The government gives allotted vaccine doses to each state which varies. The state calls each day, is given the number, can take 1-3 days for delivery, Maryland notifies their distribution sites of delivery. Governor has called in national guard to help vaccinate and logistics. Has called in retired medical workers who are standing by. Everyone has to be trained on entering data which is time consuming which also means statistics aren’t always up to date. Any site that hasn’t used their vaccine immediately is instructed to notify so it can be sent where needed. Numbers for CVS and Walmart who are vaccinating nursing homes were dismal. Governor found the data hadn’t been entered so he remedied that. This is all so new and no one had a planned for this mess. Most states are doing the best they can we have to be patient. As the Governor has said “wear the damn mask”

P.S. Karen so glad you will finally have clean clothes. :D Try YouTube “How to install a ?? towel rack”, I need pictures. Tina, hang in there.

Good afternoon Shirl, Tina, Karen, Peggy, and everyone!

Shirl, the Spider Solitaire is my go to card game and I love it! I hope your cold goes away soon.

Tina, thanks for checking in. Hopefully another week on the IV antibiotics will do the trick for you. Try to hang in there.

Karen, yay on the washer and dryer delivery!! Good luck with the towel rack installation and let us know how you made out.

Peggy, you did good on the can sale at the grocery store. I love the Sunkist tuna in the bags...have you tried that? My sister introduced that to me some years back and I haven't bought the canned tuna since.

Barbie, I love your new golf cart. Are you going to sell the other one?

Velda & Sheila, I enjoy your late night posts which I read when I get up in the morning.

Beth, O'Sharon, Carol, Cheryl and I know I missed others, but not intentionally, I enjoy all your posts. This is one of my main go to stops online.

It is 63.4 degrees and the sun is shining. We had to defrost the windshield on both vehicles this morning before taking the truck in to the shop. Needless to stay, it got quite cold again this morning.

The general contractor is here again working on the pergola and it's starting to shape up. I'll go out and take pictures and show you what's being done.

Irmi, maybe I got a flavor that didn't work for me... The Sunkist tuna in bags I really tried to like. Gave them away. Tina good to hear from you. That dang infection sucks. Which reminds me, my money will be back in my accounts this afternoon as I'm returning these new hearing aids and keeping the old. Long story, but works out for the best right now. I don't have a date but the county has contacted my park about vaccinations for everyone who wants them. I called and asked how to sign up by the deadline and that's being done and in heading back there a week early just in case the county quickly. This makes me happy. But we'll see if it really happens sooner. Meantime I'm cancelling my doctor and dermatologist visits. Neither are necessary immediately and I'm staying away. Karen, I want new towel racks but am trying to find ones that will fit in the existing space without leaving holes. I'll look again when I'm more comfortable shopping again. But I also want to price out getting some work done in my bathroom so might wait instead of having to replace anything twice. I haven't found any handymen so will be calling ads and getting recommendations from one of my neighbors. I missed Barbie getting a new golf cart... Off to look for that.

Not much going on here. It's cooler than yesterday at 67. Yesterday it got up to 80, which I like better. We have a cold front coming through tonight so will be cold for a while. There are rumors of snow but probably wishful thinking. I have an appointment to go give blood tomorrow so probably need to put a reminder on my desk. They should let the blood banks give the vaccine. They would get plenty of blood then. I'm not sure where they are giving shots here. The news named a few drug stores but then heard they didn't have the vaccine yet. One drug store said they got 100 shots and that went in one day.

Instead of towel racks I put up a couple of grab bars to use as towel racks. I needed them for Harold but something to hold on to getting dressed.

I missed the new golf cart too. I wish mine had a meter that told what the charge is but I haven't had a problem with it yet. I'm sure I'll run out of power at the pond sometime. I can pull it with the 4 wheeler or get the neighbor to get it with the tractor.

Sugar isn't coughing today but she doesn't seem to be as perky as usual. I'm sure if I pick up the harness she would be jumping around.

I like to play spider solitaire if I don't have anything to do. More like play instead of doing anything. lol I also keep the Sudoku puzzles out of the newspaper.

I'm watching the circus going on in Washington today. Trump is going to get someone killed before this is over. I just hope he doesn't get us into a war in the next 2 weeks.

It's a chilly little bit foggy morning here. I just got off treadmill, and will head to shower soon as handyman gets here so I can see if he needs basement door open and get report on Darenda. Have walked over 5 miles since Monday morning on treadmill! Yay me. Training to walk a 5 k at least once this month. I missed that Barb got a new golf cart too! Maybe she will post photos? Son, Chris, feels much better today, a relief for me. Said his sinuses drained overnight and his headache went away. Have a good day everyone.

Our nursing home residents received their vaccines this week. The rest of us in independent living have been approved to receive it the same time those in assisted living do, in a couple weeks. The health dept. is supposedly registering people in the county too, but I expect there will be an organized distribution here in the village, so will wait for that. No other news here. Thanks for checking in, Tina. Hope this next course is the last and you will start regaining your strength.

Lucky you.

I have been looking around on the internet, trying to find out when the vaccine might be available in my area of California. The best info I have been able to find is that I am in the "Third Tier" (out of four - I'm "Phase 1B Tier Two") to receive the vaccine, with no potential dates given.

https://covid19.ca.gov/vaccines/

The "tiers" are these:

Phase 1A
Phase 1B Tier One
Phase 1B Tier Two
Phase 1C

So who knows when I might be able to get it. Probably not early Spring or maybe not even early Summer. I marvel when I see the long lines of people in other parts of the country able and waiting to get vaccinated.

And, oh yes, I live in an area where the only local hospital is so maxed out that they have had to call in the National Guard. . . to help, as I understand it. . . with body bags.

By the way, I sat in my kitchen for an hour or so yesterday watching people walking up and down my street. At one end of my street there is a major apartment complex, at the opposite end is a small community park with a fast-food joint less than 50 yards from the south end of the park.

So there are people walking by all day long. In just the hour I sat watching out my window I saw:

1 guy on a motorized wheel chair cruise by
4 people on bicycles pedaling by
6 people walking dogs
2 mothers each with 3 children in tow
A group of 5 teenagers walking along together
About 15 individuals just strolling along by themselves

So that makes 39 people going by my house in only one hour's time. NONE of them were wearing masks. Extrapolate that out to number of walkers x daylight hours = one begins to see "cause and effect".

My county is in lockdown. As of December 15 (still looking for more current info) the positivity rate in my county was 25.7% (although I think it has declined a bit from that number).

Oh well. Griping about it won't change anything.

Barbie, if you got a new golf cart, please post photos. Would take my mind off of what is going on here.
