Sunny Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny Monday

Postby Shirlv » Mon Jan 04, 2021 9:23 am

Good Morning All, glad to see the sunshine after yesterday’s gloom. Porch friend and I are going to try a Buddy system to encourage some physical activity. Her suggestion was text in the evening of our activity and we will be shamed if we are idle. :? Medical bills are trickling in from the many hospitals visits which are paid by check and mailed. A nice walk will lessen the pain. Lol. Going to make a pot of Italian Wedding soup for dinner and freezer. That is my itty bitty news. Be safe

Good morning Shirl and all who follow from sunny, but cold CT. We have a dusting of snow on the ground, but the streets are clear. Nothing is happening and I don’t even have itty bitty news... Such is life... Enjoy today. Peggy

Much needed hard rain falling this morning at my house. So far this rain season, rains have been light - barely more than a drizzle - and have not lasted for more than a day - sometimes only starting in the late evening, with sunshine again by morning.

Here's hoping that the predicted series of storms materialize and we have a boost to our rainfall totals. Snow falling in the high Sierra as well, this also helps our water situation.

It's wet, grey, and quite breezy here, but no rain at moment. We definitely need the rain. Made a pot of chili yesterday. Sure fits the bill for today's rainy chilly day. About to put on workout clothes and get busy. Got ornaments and lights off tree, but need to haul it out and vacuum up needles today, so I can set up my new Total Gym and get started. Wish I had remembered yesterday to take down porch rail lights! Wow a big gust of wind whipped through! Hope no big limbs drop! Have a long todo list for weeks to come. Hope to check off a few at a time. Neck hurt a lot this morning so slow to get going. Enjoy your day my friends!

Wish we would get some sun! Even cold is more tolerable with sunshine! I let Mother Nature clear most of the sidewalk but decided a bit ago it was time to go out and finish it! Most of what needed to be gone was the piece that is actually the church’s property but we usually do it for them and then my neighbor’s sidewalk. Penndot plow threw a lot of gravel up on the sidewalk when they went through. With the melt we’ve had there’s no snow pile to stop it. I’ll be glad when they return from their trip this week and I won’t fret about it! It’s a give and take with us so it’s really no big deal. . It’ll just be nice to know they’re there. Anne, I think I heard that our state is no longer in a drought. So guess that means I can go out and give Lola a bath! But then I suppose I should wait for snow to melt off her and a bit warmer temps! so that’s my itty-bitty news. Just a repeat of other days this past week or so! Take care and be safe!

Velda, you mentioned in your first post that a big gust of wind just hit. I was thinking that usually means the front is moving thru and the rain should be behind that. Sounds like that is just what happened! Lucky you!

Sun is still out here and clear blue skies. Am hoping that storm system is strong enough to make it over the mountains this week and across the valley to us.

Need to get going here and continue with my list of things to do. I joined a decluttering group on FB and there is a one week challenge starting today, so each day she posts a small thing to do and today is organizing one small area into a container or two. I think I know where I can do that. So that is added to my list for today. It is a very inspirational and supportive group and the gal who runs it has so many great ideas on how to get and stay organized and get rid of excess clutter, one little bit at a time.

I need to try and finish putting my table together. Will try the new bit I got last night and see how that works.

Sheila, is it getting busy in Q yet? I wonder how many people will go this year or decide to stay away due to Covid?

Where is Sue? Seems she has been AWOl for a few days. Probably just busy with projects like usual!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I'm in Casa Grande now. Audiologist appt tomorrow and rig is going in for an oil change Thursday. I paid for a week so will see if Brenda and her dog can meet Ty and I at least once at the dog park. I figure we can social distance and the dogs have fun, too. I'll actually miss the little park I was at this past week. Ty and I made friends with the neighbor lady and her dog. We walked them together most days at least once. And I'll really miss the Italian beef sandwiches. It's really the middle of nowhere, but I can do that. At least sometimes. Last night I answered a knock on my door telling me to be careful taking Ty out... There were javalinas in the park. I didn't see them. My neighbor lady said she went out with a flashlight and saw a couple. She told me last year she saw a mom with 3 or 4 babies. That's when you have to be especially careful.

I'm glad to hear California is getting some rain. It's about time!

I had just started to post and a lady came by to tell me that the herd of Bighorn sheep I had missed a little earlier were now down the road in the campground fighting over a broken water faucet! I tossed on my sweatshirt, grabbed my camera, and headed over that way. It turned out to be a herd of 8 males, but I missed the fight. By the time I got there, a big, older and much-scarred male was now threatening the park worker who was turning off the water and replacing the faucet, which had been spraying a thin stream of water. In order to keep the sheep away, he filled a bucket with water and put it about 10 feet away, but the big one still stood about 5 feet from him with a nasty look on his face--assuming sheep can have a nasty look on their faces. The rest of the herd moved away when he banged his wrench on the post, but this old sheep was clearly not afraid of anything and looked close to charging the worker. Anyway, I got some great photos and watched for about an hour. Faucet is no longer leaking, so sheep settled down to grazing and laying down for a rest. The ranger said the females were out in the valley having their lambs, so were separating from the males.

I asked the guy fixing the faucet if the sheep had places to get water and he said that the park service had three big tanks tucked away. During a drought like there has been here, they bring in helicopters to drop water, which made me feel better about the animals.

Glad to hear about the rain in California and Oregon! They had some here a couple of weeks ago, but really need more. None forecast, however.

Well. . . unfortunately, as seems to be the norm this year, I rained fairly hard for an hour or so this morning, the sun is out again now and the sky is blue.

We need a lot more rain than this. . .

I got back from camping this morning. The bad weather they had predicted for Thursday was a bust. The front blew through and rained for about 5 minutes. The weather people had everyone scared and some people probably cancelled. The campground was almost full. Our weather was nice but a little cool a couple of nights. We were pretty wild until about 9:00 and then we poured water on the campfires and went in. lol I remembered Rabbits before I said Happy New Year. I wanted to watch the celebration in Dallas but that station wouldn't come in. My blankedy blank satellite isn't working again.

When I unhooked this morning my coach batteries were low. I looked at them when I got home and one had exploded. I labeled all the cables and tomorrow I will go get new batteries.

Barbie, what is the name of the FB decluttering group? I sure need to do some of that. My camper needs some too.

Every time I sit down Annie is in my lap. She must have missed me. CC got left in and I was worried about what kind of damage he could do. The old ladies probably had to hide from him.

Finally found my deposit for my incentive check. Yea!

Now, I just need to get a COVID-19 vaccination and life will be good. Numbers were going down last week, but are now headed back up, which is disappointing. When I went for a walk yesterday in the campground I did not wear a mask because I was outside and alone. Some idiot old man walked past me and told me he was glad I was not wearing a mask!! Glad because I might get sick?? I told him I always wear a mask but did not think I needed one on a campground road way out in the desert.

Well, I got my laundry done (not put away yet. That is always the hard part! ).

The weatherman now says that the big storm system that was heading this way, is falling apart and southern CA won't get anything from it. Just a little in northern CA today. :( Those of you in northern CA, don't go surfing! There is supposed to be a 22 ft surf this week!

Martha, the group is called "Declutter My Home" by Sarah Meuller. I didn't get to the container project today but will do that tomorrow. I have lots of containers but not much space for them. I really need some place to keep my important bills (DMV stuff, property tax bills, income tax forms, etc. The monthly bills I do online) in a handy spot. Will see if I can find a small container with drawers to use for that tomorrow. And then figure out where to put it.

One of the things I am noticing since I got my hormone pellets, is my appetite has increased. I am hungry all the time now! Not a good thing since I am already 15 pounds over where I want to be.

Tomorrow morning is putting golf. I noticed there are more people coming in to the park now after the holidays so maybe we will get a few more playing with us.

Barbie when I look about it looks like March with the amount of rigs ok maybe Feb... we have a lot of Canadians they can't come I don't know about the rest... perhaps they feel safer at home... it probably would be but in my home it's much to cold to live in when the temps are down below freezing... so I came am getting used to seeing few people but actually at this post would welcome seeing the big rigs  as long as they stay further away...
my friends came out and pumped water into the tank determined that the pump to pump water from the barrel to the tank is bad so need to go find a new one will hope that I can find one here in town... without a lot of effort...
got my dishes done that is saying a lot :? it was a pretty day out so spent some time sitting in my chair watching the birds have one hummer that perches for a lot time sipping down his meal... watched as one tried sneaking up to drink from the other side it was really quite funny the funny thing is there is another hummer feeder not far off  noticed that there weren't birds out for a bit and no they weren't totally out other than if they were a cat they would think they were out  they came and was enjoying watching them when all the sudden a larger bird flew in like from ground level up to them they scattered I didn't see the bird but wonder if there is a predator that is scaring them...
tomorrow I am going to Walmart get those things I deem necessary thought about going to Lake Havasu but they don't have a JoAnn's so one day in the next week or so I will need to go somewhere and get yarn down to 11 rows on this afghan and it will be done... perhaps I need to see about ordering it but from Amazon it's more expensive... and I would have to order bundles of three skeins I need 5 skeins so not sure what I will do will ponder it a bit I guess
Mom's package finally made it!!! it's in Tetonia not sure how long it will be before dd takes it over to her...
well not a lot going on here you all have a good day
